Sonny Conto remained undefeated with a third-round stoppage over Justin Rolfe in a scheduled six-round heavyweight bout in front of a packed crowd at Parx casino in Bensalem, PA.

After two rounds of beating up Rolfe with hard power shots. Conto decked Rolfe with a big left hook in round three. Seconds later, it was another hard left jook from close quarters that sent Rolfe folding towards the canvas and the fight was stopped by referee Eric Dali at 1:38.

Conto, 228.2 lbs of Philadelphia is 10-0 with eight knockouts. Rolfe, 254.1 lbs of Portland, ME is 7-4-1.

Shinard Bunch viciously destroyed Marko Bailey in just 47 seconds of their six-round super lightweight bout.

Bunch jumped on Bailey and landed a devastating flurry of punches in the corner that had Bailey running to an adjacent corner only to be met by Bunch with more flush blows to the head and the fight was stopped by referee Shawn Clark.

Bunch, 144.2 lbs of Trenton, NJ is 19-1-1 with 17 knockouts. Bailey, 141.2 lbs of Durham, NC is 7-8.

Undefeated fighters Jordon Murphy and Antonio Dunton El scrapped their way to a hard fought spit draw in a super featherweight bout.

Murphy took a card 40-36; Dunton El won a scorecard 39-37 and a third tally was even at 38-38.

Murphy, 127 lbs of Bensalem, PA is 2-0-1. Dunton El, 128.9 lbs of Baltimore is 2-0-2.

Carlos Ramos stopped Jesus Arturo Guzman at the end of round three of their scheduled four-round featherweight bout.

In round one, Ramos dropped Guzman with a perfectly timed counter left.

Ramos continued to land hard flush left hands until the referee pulled the plug on the bout at the end of round three.

Nathan Gorman (18-1, 12 KOs) returns under the bright lights to headline an action-packed night of free-to-air boxing on June 17 at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, promoted by Wasserman Boxing live on Channel 5 in association with William Hill, Numan and Infinitum Entertainment.

The hard-hitting heavyweight will face off against a confident Czech, Tomas Salek (17-3, 13 KOs), fresh from defending his national Heavyweight Title and looking to get into a firefight in this guaranteed earth shaker.

It has been over a year since Gorman last graced the ring, and the British power-puncher will be looking to pick up where he left off with a third straight win since his first career loss in 2019. A tremendous response since then, he will be looking to come back with a bang having missed a previous card due to illness.

“I’m coming there to throw the kitchen sink at him and put on a really good display,” said Gorman.

“I was due to fight on the Savannah Marshall show, but unfortunately, I came down with a bad illness. I believe things happen for a reason, and now I’m in a position to put on a good show with Channel 5. I’m just really looking forward to it.”

Standing in the way of a dream return for him will be 23-year-old Salek, who is coming to flex his greater knockout record on Gorman’s home turf. It will be an opportunity for Salek to right the wrongs from his previous appearance in the United Kingdom, and he’ll be insisting he puts on a spectacle to prove he has progressed.

“It is a big opportunity for me,” he said. “This will be my second fight in the United Kingdom, and I truly want to show that I am now much stronger physically, but mostly, much stronger mentally. I want to come back to the Czech Republic with Gorman’s scalp!”

Fans can also look forward to an electric British Super Flyweight Title Eliminator between two physically imposing fighters when ‘The Chosen One’ Marcel Braithwaite (12-3) will be aiming to get his fellow Liverpool faithful on side as he looks to get the better of the experienced former WBA Continental Bantemweight Champion Thomas Essomba (11-7-1, 4 KOs).

The M&S Bank Arena will be rocking when Braithwaite, the newly crowned WBC International Silver Super Flyweight champion, arrives to seize the spotlight and move towards ticking off more on his boxing bucket list.

“It’s a good fight. It’s perfect fight for where I’m at in my career and it feels like the stepping stone I need for me to get to the British title. That title is one of my ambitions, so I just need to put everything into my preparations to make sure I get there, which I will,” said Braithwaite.

A rejuvenated Essomba comes to crash the Liverpool party off the back of necessary changes to his preparations. Singing all the right notes in the gym, he will be looking to control this fight as the older statesmen and kick on to a British Title.

“I’ve never had the training I have now. It’s the perfect time for me to show all the UK fans that I am a great fighter, and a great boxer. I have good people around me now and I believe in the work I’m putting in. People will see that Thomas Essomba deserves to be a British Champion, and maybe even more than that. For now, I’m only focused on the British Title. I know Marcel is a good fighter, and I respect him, but I am better.”

The card will also feature former Team GB fighter Chloe Watson, alongside the undefeated Paddy Lacey, Mason ‘Nutty’ Cartwright and heavyweight giant ‘Magic’Matty Harris. All live on Channel 5, as Wasserman Boxing presents yet another lively night of world-class boxing.

Luis Enrique Romero Hits Canvas; Comes back to Shock Prodan in 7

Luis Enrique Romero had to get off the deck to come back and shock Maxim Prodan in round seven of their scheduled 10-round welterweight bout.

In round six, Prodan landed a huge left hook that put Romero down. In round seven, Romero came out and landed a some vicious shots that forced a standing eight. With Prodan badly hurt, Romero landed some more hard flush shots for a second standing eight-count and the fight was stopped at 1:15.

Romero of Venezuela is now 11-5-1 with seven knockouts. Prodan of Milan, ITA is 19-2-1.

Oranzo Birardi remained undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over Ovidiu Enache in a cruiserweight bout.

Biradi of Italy is now 4-0. Enache is now 6-10.

Joshua Nmomah won an eight-round unanimous decision over Gabor Gorbics in a middleweight bout.

Nmomah of Italy won by 80-72 scores and is now 12-0. Gorbics of Hungary is 26-27-2.

In round four, Gorbics was cut around his right eye.

Daniele Reggi made a successful pro debut with a third round stoppage over Luca Barbessi in a scheduled four-round super middleweight bout.

In round two, Reggi sent Barbessi to the canvas with a clipping right. After a furious start of round three by Barbessi, Reggi turned it around and dropped Reggi with a hard left and the fight was stopped at 50 seconds.

Reggi of Milan, ITA is 1-0 with one knockout. Barbessi of Verona, ITA is 0-4.

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA – Fighting two weight classes above where he normally campaigns, Malikai Johnson returns home to fight for the first time since the untimely passing of his beloved father earlier this year as he headlines a full evening of fighting at the DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton, Sacramento. Fighters weighed-in Thursday afternoon at the same hotel where the action will take place on Friday evening. 

Johnson (8-0-1, 5 KOs) of Sacramento was last in the ring in January, scoring a devastating second-round knockout of durable veteran Jude Yniguez at this very same venue. Batres (10-21-1, 3 KOs) of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico has been fighting professionally since 2010 and has shared the ring with former world champion Miguel Berchelt and rising contender Brandun Lee among others. Despite being a good three inches shorter and normally a 130-pounder just like Johnson, it was Batres that prompted the higher contract weight for the fight Friday. The experienced Batres will hope to test Sacramento’s power-punching super featherweight prospect Johnson in a six-round bout. Johnson weighed-in at by far the heaviest of his career, forcing himself up to 138-pounds, while Batres made the contracted limit of 140 after stripping down behind a tablecloth. 

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Johnson struggled to find the right training situation he needed to move forward with his professional career. “I was honestly thinking that I was probably going to quit,” recalled Johnson. “I was down to my last, so I thought I needed to challenge myself. The next day, I received a text from my assistant coach now, Genaro, that said Ray [Woods] was talking about you and how he’d love to train you and he extended an invitation. It was almost like it was destiny or fate. So I asked them what time they train on Monday and went over there. I wasn’t in a good place. I was in a bad mood and down, but I was trying to be optimistic. But I went in with really low hopes. Then the first day we started doing mitts, and I was like wow this is new, this is different. Every day I start showing up and really seeing improvements.”

In early February, not too long after Johnson picked up the win with Woods in his corner, the promising young fighter lost his biggest supporter, his father Tommie Tom. As it turned out, Tom had long wanted Johnson to hook up with the well respected Woods, but did not want to impose his belief onto his son’s career plans.  

During that whole process, [Woods] said, ‘Your dad always wanted me to train you.’ And then I went through my dad’s texts, and sure enough he had always been saying that he wanted Ray to train me, but that it had to be my decision,” explains Johnson. “After my dad passed, he said, ‘When I heard the news that your dad passed, I was here alone, but I looked up and I said, ‘Don’t worry Tommie, I got him. He’s in good hands, I got him.’ And that really touched me. Coach Ray, he might have tough love and get after me, but I know he is only doing it because this is a tough sport and bad things can happen. He doesn’t want those things to happen, and I know if I work hard and listen to the things that he says, I know if I do that, I have the skills to be world champion and have a successful career.”

In other action on Friday, DoubleTree Hotel favorite Tony Hernandez (4-2, 3 KOs) of Live Oak, California will take on Alejandro Fugon (3-1-1, 3 KOs) of Palmdale, California in what should be a thrilling six-round light heavyweight bout between two power-punchers. Hernandez, who scaled 173-pounds, is on a three-fight win streak dating back to 2019. Fugon, who came in at 170, is looking to bounce back from his lone defeat to a full-fledged cruiserweight prospect, Marco Deckmann, trained by Freddie Roach. 

In a four-round pairing of unbeaten welterweights, Luis Chavez (2-0) of Salinas, California will take on Juan Meza Moreno (4-0, 3 KOs) of Los Angeles, California. Chavez, who came in at 145-pounds on Thursday, has won two unanimous decisions since turning pro last July. Meza Moreno, weighing 144-pounds Thursday afternoon, turned professional last April, fighting exclusively in Tijuana, Mexico. 

In another battle of undefeated fighters, Kenny Lopez Jr. (4-0, 3 KOs) of Ceres, California will meet Andrew Garcia (4-0-1, 3 KOs) of Azusa, California in a four-round super middleweight bout. Lopez is eager to make his home state debut after a successful run in Tijuana last year. Garcia will also be making his California debut after scoring a second-round stoppage last time out in September in Tijuana. Lopez, who saw his January bout at this venue scrapped on the day of the fight, wound up cutting some weight on short notice after a mix-up on the weight limit. Despite the late notice, Lopez made the necessary 165 ½ and will finally enter the ring for the fifth time as a professional. Garcia came in at 165-pounds Thursday, four pounds north of his previous career high. 

In a highly anticipated encounter, Lizette Lopez of Salinas will take on Neveah Martinez of Victorville, California in a four-round featherweight bout. Both women will be making their professional debuts on Friday night. With their bout having been originally scheduled for January, both will be well-prepared for their first professional contest. Lopez, a product of the MXN Boxing Center, scaled 123 ½-pounds Thursday, while Martinez made 125 ½. 

Super featherweight prospect and former amateur standout Kevin Montano (2-0, 1 KO) of Sacramento will face veteran gatekeeper Corben Page (6-20-1, 1 KO) of Redding, California in a four-round super featherweight bout. Montano, who had been a finalist and a semi-finalist at the USA Boxing National Championships, turned pro with a knockout last August at the DoubleTree Hotel and returned for his second win two months later. Page scored a win in his last fight, a second-round stoppage. Montano and Page both scaled 130-pounds on Thursday. 

Irving Xilohua (1-0, 1 KO) of Stockton, California will meet Olaf Estrella Soto (0-1) of North Mankato, Minnesota by way of Apaseo El Grande, Guanajuato, Mexico in a four-round super bantamweight bout. Xilohua, who turned professional with a second-round knockout in Stockton this past December, weighed-in at 121-pounds on Thursday. Estrella Soto had a more difficult time getting to the contracted weight, weighing 123 ½ and then 123-pounds on his first two attempts. Well within the allotted one hour time-limit, Estrella Soto came back to the scale and made 122-pounds. 

Sacramento-based prospect Cain Sandoval (4-0, 4 KOs) was originally scheduled to make his hometown debut against veteran journeyman Jude Yniguez (5-9-4, 1 KO) of Oak Hills, California in a six-round lightweight bout. By the time the weigh-in ended, Sandoval was fighting a welterweight, David Minter (3-1, 3 KOs) of nearby Lincoln, California. Before Minter was named as the opponent and signed a contract, it briefly looked as though MMA fighter Alexander Carrillo, who saw his mixed martial arts fight scrapped when his opponent was not medically cleared, was going to bravely step in against the former amateur standout boxer.However, they were little too far apart on weight and experience and Minter was called in to replace Yniguez. Sandoval, who scaled 144-pounds, has kept busy since turning professional just last August, reeling off four knockouts in his four bouts. Minter, no stranger to the DoubleTree Hotel ring, made the welterweight limit of 147-pounds. 

In the lone mixed martial arts contest, Raheem Gilliam of Long Beach, California will take on Salvador Martinez of Stockton, California in a three-round middleweight fight. Both fighters are making their professional debuts. The contract had originally called for them to make 185-pounds, but both weighed-in a pound heavier and an agreement was made to make the bout for 186, so neither had to go sweat any extra poundage off.

Former light flyweight world champion Angel Acosta needed just 77 seconds to take out Janel Rivera in their scheduled 10-round flyweight bout at the Fantasy Springs Resort in India, California.

Acosta hurt Rivera with a hard left hook and then landed about 20 unanswered shots and the fight was stopped.

Acosta, 112.8 lbs of San Juan, PR is now 23-3-1 with 22 knockouts. Rivera, 114 lbs of Vega Baja, PR is 18-9-3.

“I always train well for every fight, we knew Janiel was going to be a strong fighter and I didn’t want to under prepare for this fight,” said Angel Acosta. “I saw an opportunity to end the fight early and I took it. I had a great camp with Joel Diaz and I feel he got me ready for this. Naturally we trained to go the distance, but fortunately we ended it early and got a great victory. We want to go back to the gym train and look for another world championship shot, hopefully Julio Cesar Martinez or McWilliams Arroyo.”

Morales Decisions Torres

Victor Morales dropped Alberto Torres twice en-route to a 10-round unanimous decision in a featherweight bout.

Morales scored knockdowns in rounds five and 10, and cruised home to the 100-88 victory on all cards.

Morales landed 142 of 586 punches; Torres was 70 of 288.

“I knew the fighter was going to be tough,” said Rudy Garcia. “He has a lot of experience and I had to adjust because he kept coming in with his head. Obviously, I got a head butt that stung me so we had to adjust mid fight and got the decision.  I had to go back to the amatuer mentality and outpoint him.”

Jimmy Brenes remained undefeated with a four-round majority decision over Hector Perez in a welterweight bout.

Eric Tudor remained undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over Donte Stubbs in a middleweight bout.

 Rodriguez (15-0 10 KOs) makes the first defense of the belt he won in stunning fashion in February, flooring former World ruler Carlos Cuadras en-route to becoming the youngest current World champion in just his 15^th pro-outing. ‘Bam’ will get a hero’s welcome on his home turf when he steps through the ropes in San Antonio for the first time as king of the world and only the third time in his career, boxing on his doorstep in his third and fifth fights in June 2017 and March 2018 respectively. 

The 22 year old could hardly face a stiffer test when putting his belt on the line for the first time, coming up against former two-time Super-Fly kingpin Rungvisai (50-5-1 43 KOs). The Thai star was set to face Cuadras in a long-awaited rematch for the title in San Diego, only for Rungvisai to fall ill and be replaced at late notice by the new young champion. The 35 year old has a chance to get his hands on the coveted green and gold strap for a third time, having first held the belt in 2013 and then reclaiming it against Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez three years later.

“Fighting a guy like Rungvisai is going to bring me to a whole new level,” said Rodriguez. “He’s a great fighter but this is my time now. You have to take risks in this sport, that’s what special fighters do. They said it was a risk me challenging for a World title fight on short notice and now they say it’s a risk taking on a fighter like Rungvisai but this is what I want. These are the types of fights you need so you can be remembered by the fans long after your career is done.

“I’ve always said that me and my brother are going to bring the big fights back to San Antonio and this is just the start of it. We are so proud to be from this city and we get that love back from the people there so this will be a special night.”

Rodriguez and Rungvisai lead a stellar night of action with three more World title fights on the bill, with Julio Cesar Martinez and McWilliams Arroyo picking up where they left off from their curtailed firefight for Martinez’s WBC World Flyweight title, where both men hit the canvas in the opening round and Arroyo touched down again in the second, before the action in New Hampshire in November had to be halted after Arroyo suffered a nasty cut from an accidental headclash.

Arroyo (21-4 16 KOs) has been out of action since that night, while Martinez (18-2 14 KOs) bravely rolled the dice to take on modern great Chocolatito as the headline act on the night Rodriguez won his belt.

World title clash number three on the bumper card will see IBF and WBA World Super-Bantamweight champion Murodjon Akhmadaliev defend his titles against Ronny Rios. The pair were set to meet in New Hampshire in November, but COVID ruled Rios out and he was replaced by game late challenger Jose Velasquez. Akhmadaliev (10-0 7 KOs) retained his belts with a near-shutout on the cards, going the distance for just the third time in his 10^th pro bout, and second as a World champion. Rios (33-3 16 KOs), the mandatory challenger for the WBA crown, goes for glory for the second time in his 36-fight career after challenging Rey Vargas for the WBC strap at 122lbs in August 2016.

The fourth bout on the card has the most belts on the line, as undisputed Welterweight ruler Jessica McCaskill makes the third defense of all her marbles at 147lbs. McCaskill (11-2 4 KOs) ripped the straps from long-standing ruler Cecilia Braekhus on the streets of Downtown Tulsa in August 2020 and saw off the Norwegian in a rematch for her first defense in March 2021. The Chicagoan recorded the fourth stoppage win of her career in the second defense of the belts in December, ending Kandi Wyatt’s challenge in the seventh, and will face the tough test of Alma Ibarra. Ibarra (10-1, 4 KOs) also then beat Wyatt in an eight-round decision in an eliminator for the WBA strap, dubbed the ‘Thrilla for Caskilla’, landing Ibarra the shot at McCaskill’s WBA, WBO, WBC, IBF and Ring Magazine World titles.

“Everyone is coming for the throne and it’s my job to protect it,” said McCaskill. 

“This is a good fight. This fight will confirm why Jessica is the queen of the Welterweight division,” added McCaskill’s trainer and manager Rick Ramos.

Manchester, England – (May 12, 2022) – The eight boxers taking part in Saturday night’s BOXXER Series Manchester: Cruiserweights tournament convened in Manchester today for a live random draw to determine the four quarter-final matches which will open the event.

Olympic heavyweight hero Frazer Clarke was on hand to undertake the draw, which was streamed live by Sky Sports, ipping his heavy hands into the sea of names eight times until every boxer was matched.

The resulting four quarter-final matches are below. The tournament airs live on Sky Sports Action from 7pm this Saturday evening, with the largest pot of tournament prize money in British boxing history on the line.

QF1 – Ellis Zorro (11-0, 6 KO’s) vs Jay Farrell (9-2, 5 KO’s)

The two most experienced fighters in the tournament face off in the very first round! Ellis Zorro walks into this tournament undefeated in 11 fights, while Jay Farrell can boast the same number of professional fights, but has suffered losses, albeit at a higher level than Zorro has fought at in the case of his Central Area title fight. 

Both fighters will have been hoping to use their professional experience to come through this first round in a pool of competitors where over half the competitors have three fights or fewer, but now neither will have the edge in that regard.

Farrell is known as the harder hitter, and often turns his fights into brutal battles of grit where he thrives, where Zorro is a slicker, slightly more evasive boxer. Which of the two can impose their will on the fight, and create the kind of fight they thrive in, should be a huge part of who can walk out the winner.

QF2 – Jamie Smith (3-0, 2 KO’s) vs Jack Fay (1-0-1)

The hugely successful amateur and rapidly rising professional Jamie Smith has emerged as a potential favourite to take victory in this edition of the BOXXER Series. 

Smith is a disciplined, come-forward fighter, wisely able to put pressure on an opponent while also not overly exposing himself to potential counter attack. He has a strong jab but can also do efficient work at closer ranges, having found stoppages with medium-range hooks already in his professional career.

Jack Fay comes into this tournament having already had to fight homelessness in the last two years, as well as the two opponents he’s faced as a professional in that time. He’s an aggressive power-puncher who doesn’t mind trading blows with his opponent. 

This provides a serious challenge for Smith, who might have to fight his urges and try to keep Fay at a distance in order to take victory.

QF3 – Ricky Reeves (2-0, 1 KO) vs Anees Taj (5-1, 4 KO’s)

A match-up between a former sprinter, and now teacher, and someone who holds all the necessary qualifications to be a lawyer holds intrigue from before the first bell has rung. Ricky Reeves is a solid all round boxer, who has already shown the ability to fight at long and close range in his professional career that has currently only lasted two bouts. 

Anees Taj has managed to notch up six contests in his professional career, following on from serious success as an amateur that almost took him to the Olympics to represent Pakistan. 

He’s a high-speed, high workrate fighter that could potentially thrive under the three round format of the fights in the BOXXER Series, where sheer output can have a huge impact on who takes the victory in these shorter fights.

QF4 – Sheldon McDonald (3-0, 1 KO) vs Ryan Cotterell (1-0)

Sheldon McDonald turned professional in boxing because former Cruiserweight World Champion Johnny Nelson saw him training and told him he was good enough. 

That kind of support should give him all the self-belief needed on Saturday night, and has given him the self-belief to take victory in all three of his professional fights. McDonald has a piston-like jab and follows it smartly with thudding right hands that have damaged all the opponents he’s faced so far. 

Ryan Cotterell comes into this tournament with the least professional experience, having only had a single professional fight in his career so far, which only lasted a single round. Cotterell is also the youngest in the tournament. 

However, he has been boxing for over 16 years, and has had the same trainer – who guided him multiple amateur championships before turning professional – for around 10 years. Cotterell has a pressuring style, and isn’t afraid to work the body as well as the head. He might be looking to bring this fight to a slightly closer range than McDonald might want it.

Tomorrow night marks a monumental beginning for Wasserman Boxing as Title action returns to terrestrial television, live on Channel 5.

The wait is over, as the British Middleweight title is on the line in an eagerly anticipated clash between Linus Udofia (17-0, 9 KOs) and Denzel Bentley (15-1-1, 13 KOs) on Friday May 13.

The card also features the returning Josh Kelly (10-1-1, 6 KOs) coming in search of a statement win, as well as Harlem Eubank (13-0, 5 KOs) taking on two-time British Title challenger Sean ‘Masher’ Dodd (17-6-1, 3 KOs) over ten rounds.

MELBOURNE, Australia (May 11, 2022) — Australian two-time bantamweight world title challenger Jason “Mayhem” Moloney and New Zealand-born heavyweight contender Junior Fa hope to showcase their talents for the home region fans at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia, on the undercard of the George Kambosos Jr.-Devin Haney undisputed lightweight world title showdown. The Kambosos-Haney world championship event is projected to be one of the biggest boxing events ever on Australian soil.

Moloney will battle former world title challenger Aston Palicte in a 10-rounder for the vacant WBO International bantamweight title, while Fa will take on Australian fan-favorite Lucas Browne in a 10-rounder for the WBA Oceania and IBF International heavyweight title belts.

Following the main event, streaming live and exclusively in the United States on ESPN+, world-rated junior bantamweight contender Andrew Moloney (23-2, 15 KOs) will battle Nicaragua’s Alexander Espinoza (21-3-2, 8 KOs) in an eight-rounder, and Devin Haney Promotions-signed junior middleweight prospect Amari Jones (5-0, 5 KOs) will fight Ankush Hooda (3-0-1, 1 KO) in a scheduled six-rounder.

Browne (30-3, 26 KOs) won the WBA Oceania title with a knockout victory over Faiga Opelu in December and is a former WBA world titlist. The 32-year-old Fa (19-1, 10 KOs) is looking to get his career back on track after losing to former world champion Joseph Parker in his last outing in February 2021. Fa has notable wins over American veterans Devin Vargas and Dominick Guinn.

“I would love nothing more than to fight for another world title, and Junior Fa is standing in my way,” Browne said. “If I can put him away early, that will send a message to the boxing world that I am far from finished. He has only lost once in his career, to Joseph Parker. I plan to hand him his second defeat.”

“I am 100 percent back myself, but I’m not taking Lucas lightly, as he is a former world champ and was stopped by Paul Gallen with some illegal blows, so I don’t count that as a loss for him,” Fa said. “He has his power, and we saw him use it to KO his last opponent. I’ll be getting the best Lucas Browne for this fight as I’m in the way of him being a contender again. It’s a huge opportunity for him and it’s going to be a tough fight.”

Moloney (23-2, 18 KOs) has re-ignited his career since an October 2020 knockout loss to pound-for-pound great Naoya Inoue. He defeated top contender Joshua Greer Jr. last August and made his 2022 debut in April with a one-sided decision over Francisco Javier Pedroza. He is currently ranked No. 2 by the WBC and No. 3 by WBO. Palicte (28-4-1, 23 KOs), from Bago City, Philippines, twice challenged for world titles at junior bantamweight and has won three consecutive fights. He is world-rated No. 6 by the IBF.

The undercard, which will be streamed in the U.S. exclusively on ESPN+, features three highly touted Ferocious Promotions prospects: Terry Nickolas, Isaias Sette and Hussein Fayad.  Nickolas (2-1, 2 KOs), from Sydney, takes a step up in opposition experience when he rumbles with Lachlan Higgins (7-4-1, 2 KOs), from Mornington, Australia, in a six-round junior middleweight bout. Junior middleweight Sette and junior lightweight Fayad, both from Sydney, will be making their pro debuts in four-round bouts. Sette will fight Melbourne-born knockout artist Luke Gersbeck (2-0, 2 KOs), while Fayad will take on Pom Thanawut Phetkum (1-1), from Springvale, Australia. Taylah Robertson (4-1, 1 KO), from Brisbane, Australia, and Sarah Higginson (3-0-1, 1 KO), from Perth, Australia, will face off in a five-round junior bantamweight battle. Both fighters enter this bout having won their previous title fights. Robertson scored an eight-round unanimous decision over Kylie Fulmer in their Australia Female bantamweight title fight while Higginson scored her first knockout, stopping Danni Mace in the fourth round to capture the vacant Australian National Boxing Federation Australasian Female bantamweight title.

(May 11, 2022) — Tony Yoka, the undefeated French heavyweight who captured Olympic gold at the 2016 Rio Games, takes a major step up in class this Saturday, May 14, in a 10-round main event against Congolese contender Martin Bakole at Accor Arena in Paris.

Yoka (11-0, 9 KOs) is already ranked in the top 10 by two of the major sanctioning organizations. ATLANTA, GA (May 10, 2022)–At 6’8″ and sporting a perfect record of 13-0 with 13 knockouts, heavyweight Raphael Akpejiori is an imposing figure in the ring.

But there is a lot more to this giant, who will be looking for win number-14 on Saturday night, June 11th at The Center Stage Theater in Atlanta when he appears in a bout scheduled for 10-rounds.

Akpejiori of Miami via Lagos, Nigeria is a former University of Miami Football AND Basketball player is more than just an athlete.

While preparing for the fight with Akpejiori was finishing up his studies towards an engineering degree.

“I took some time off and studying for my engineering degree,” said the 31 year-old, who is coming off a first-round stoppage over former world title-challenger Santander Silgado on November 6th in Miami.

“We have no opponent yet, but I expect a credible guy who will not be a walk in the park for me.”

“I have never thought about going to a fight looking for a knockout. I just go about doing my work, and throwing consistent punches. If the knockout comes, I am fine with that, but I just want to come out with the victory.

Akpejiori does not let his life after boxing goals interfere with his desire to become one of the sport’s big stars, and vice versa.

“Boxing takes up four or five hours per day, and the remaining time I have to use it for something productive. The reason why I am doing this is to become the Heavyweight Champion of the World, and defend it as many times as possible.”

LOS ANGELES, MAY 11 – The World Boxing Council have named the opponents Probellum stars O’Shaquie Foster and Noel Gevor must face next to keep on track for their respective world title shots.
Super-featherweight stylist Foster is the No1 contender in the WBC rankings and has been ordered to face Mexico’s Eduardo Ramirez (No3) next.

The winner of that fight will be in line to face champion Shakur Stevenson, who won the WBC belt by defeating Oscar Valdez in Las Vegas last month.

In a recent post on social media, Foster said a fight between the pair would be: “the most Highly Skilled fight EVER at 130lbs. It’s the fans that win…”

Cruiserweight puncher Gevor, meanwhile, has been matched with South Africa’s Thabiso Mchunu with the prize being a shot at champion Ilunga Makabu.

Gevor (26-2,11KO), the WBC Silver champion who fights out of Germany, is No2 in the sanctioning body’s ratings while Mchunu, who lost to the world champion Makabu in January, is No3.

The former world title challenger strengthened his position with the WBC by defeating contender Youri Kalenga in February.

The ordered fights were announced by WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman on Tuesday.

American Foster (19-2, 11KO), who beat Muhammadkhuja Yaqubov at Probellum Evolution in Dubai earlier this year in an official eliminator, is joined by stable-mate Archie Sharp in chasing a fight with Stevenson.

Sharp is the ranked as the No1 contender for the American’s WBO title in the 130lbs division.

On Saturday, May 7, heavyweight prospect Jermaine Franklin returned from a nearly three-year layoff to score a fifth-round TKO over capable journeyman Rodney Moore.

Fighting in the main event of a DM Fight Promotions event at McBride Hall in Gary, Indiana, Franklin (21-0, 14 KOs) of Saginaw, MI, looked sharp while dismantling Houston’s Moore (20-22-2, 9 KOs), who has been known to pull off the occasional upset against his laundry list of undefeated and high-profile opponents.

Referee Steve Wilson officially decided he had seen enough at :34 of the fifth.

“To be honest, it felt like I never left the ring,” said the happy Franklin, post-fight. “I was ready to put on a show for the fans and also show my power and speed. I gave the fans what they wanted… a knockout! Being away for two years, you get a chance to study not only other fighters but yourself and I’m better than ever.”

Franklin says although he was happy to be back, he’s really hoping to be in with another significant heavyweight within a year.

“I want to show my skills against the top 15 fighters in the world. I’m a more powerful, faster fighter than all of them and I’m ready to prove it. I’m 28 years old, and I want to be the people’s champ. I want the fans to enjoy my success. The heavyweight division is wide open. I want to fight the Tyson Fury or anyone in the top 15. I consider my skill level better than those ranked up there and I’m ready to prove it.”

Franklin’s promoter, Dmitriy Salita, says now that Franklin is back in action, he’s planning a big year for the 6’ 2” fighter known as the “989 Assassin.”

“Jermaine is one of the best American heavyweights in the world who is ready for the break into top contender status,” affirmed Salita. “This is going to be a big breakout year for Jermaine.”

Several of Philadelphia’s top young boxers, including blue-chip prospects and Golden Gloves champions, will showcase their skills in the ring at Parx Casino® on May 13th.

The main event features undefeated Sonny Conto (9-0, 7 KOs), the Top Rank heavyweight from South Philadelphia and a top 25 heavyweight in the US, against Justin Rolfe (7-3-1, 5 KOs) out of Fairfield, ME. Conto is a highly-touted prospect but still understands he has a lot to work on. He said after his last win on February 24th, “There’s a lot to work on, but it felt good to be in there,” Conto said. “I won every round. The goal was to win every round decisively. I got hit a little too much. There’s just a lot to work on, a lot to improve. It’s all about growing.”

In this fight against former USA New England Champion Justin Rolfe, Conto will look to continue his career progression and improve on some of the mistakes he made in past fights.

Shinard Bunch (18-1-1, 15 KOs), the 2021 Briscoe “Prospect of the Year,” will face Marklin Bailey (7-7, 4 KOs) out of Durham, NC in a 6-round super lightweight bout. Bunch has eleven first-round knockouts in his career and will be looking to make it twelve at Parx Casino® on May 13th. Bailey is a veteran of the sport, and this will not be an easy task for Bunch to get him out of there before the final bell.

Additionally on the card are a few young fighters that are still trying to make their mark in the sport. The first is featherweight D’Angelo Fuentes (7-0, 4 KOs) out of Coconut Creek, FL, who will face James Early (4-8) in a six-round super featherweight bout. This will be the most experienced opponent Fuentes will face. This action-packed fight will be a great test and an important moment in Fuentes’ career.

          Bensalem-born Jordon Murphy (2-0, 1 KO) will be making his third professional appearance and will face Antonio Dunton-El Jr. (2-0-1) out of Baltimore, MD in a 4-round super featherweight bout. In this fight, we have two young undefeated prospects that are trying to carve out their place in the boxing scene early in their careers. 

The always entertaining Christopher Burgos (3-5-1, 1 KO), of North Philadelphia, PA, will face Philip Davis (2-5-1) of Worcester, MA, in a six-round lightweight contest.

Making his debut on the card will be 2014 Pennsylvania Golden Gloves champion Karl Wylie out of Coatesville, PA, who will face Tyree Arnold (1-4) out of Philadelphia, PA in a four-round lightweight bout.

(May 10, 2022) – A women’s 10-round championship fight has been added to the inaugural edition of “The Global Titans Fight Series,” headlined by the ring return of Floyd “Money” Mayweather facing “Dangerous” Don Moore “in the skies of Dubai” on Saturday, May 14, as former unified champion Delfine Persoon of Belgium will take on France’s undefeated Elhem “The Diamond” Mekhaled for the vacant Female WBC Silver Super Featherweight Championship.

The pay-per-view event, which will begin at 9:30 p.m. GST (1:30 p.m. ET) and be broadcast live by LIVENow, is available for purchase HERE.

Persoon (46-3, 19 KOs) and Mekhaled (14-0, 2 KOs) will meet in one of the supporting bouts when Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) returns to face Moore (18-0-1, 12 KOs) in an eight-round, main-event exhibition matchup, outdoors on the helipad of Dubai’s opulent Burj Al Arab Hotel.

Perhaps best known for her two-fight series against top pound-for-pound fighter Katie Taylor, Persoon, of Roeselare, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, held the Women’s WBC Lightweight Championship for five years and made nine successful defenses before losing a nationally televised controversial decision to Taylor for the undisputed lightweight championship at Madison Square Garden in 2019. The rematch with Taylor was held in 2020 and Persoon again lost a razor-thin decision.

Persoon, who works as a railway policewoman in her homeland, started professional boxing in 2009 after competing in judo. Ranked among the best female fighters on the planet, Persoon also held the IBF female lightweight title in 2012.

“It’s great to be back in the ring and I’m very excited to compete on an undercard for Floyd Mayweather,” said Persoon. “My opponent has a good record and I respect her taking this challenge, but I’m going to show her I’m at a different level. Just like I did against Katie Taylor, I’m going to bring the action from start to finish and do everything I can to have my hand raised.”

The undefeated Mekhaled hails from Vaulx-en-Velin, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. In her five-year career, she has held the WBC interim female super-featherweight title, which she captured in March 2019 by defeating Spain’s Danila Ramos via 10-round unanimous decision, as well as the French and European Championships.

The fight against Persoon will be Mekhaled’s second outside her native France. The 31-year-old was last seen scoring a first-round knockout over Bosnia And Herzegovina’s Pasa Malagic to successfully defend her EBU (European) belt in September 2021.

“I’m on the path to a world title and this victory is going to catapult me toward my goal,” said Mekhaled. “It’s an honor to be fighting on a big card like this with Floyd Mayweather, and I’m planning to show everyone watching that I’m ready to become world champion.”

A 10-round super lightweight co-main event has been added to the already stacked Salita Promotions’ special Memorial Day weekend-kickoff Detroit Brawl event on Thursday, May 26, 2022, in the Lincoln Ballroom of the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center in Dearborn, Michigan, as IBF #4, WBA #13, WBO #11 and RING #7 super lightweight slugger Shohjahon Ergashev will take on South American Champion Luis Alberto Veron.

Ergashev (21-0, 19 KOs) of Detroit via Rakhmon, Uzbekistan and Veron (19-3-2, 9 KOs) of Jose Leon Suarez, Buenos Aires, Argentina will meet in the main supporting bout to the night’s main event featuring WBC #11-rated heavyweight Otto Wallin (23-1, 14 KOs) of Sweden facing Detroit’s own Rydell Booker (26-5-1, 13 KOs).

An heavy-handed southpaw considered one of boxing’s hardest pound-for-pound punchers, Ergashev is a former member of the Uzbek national team now ranked in the top-15 in three of the four major sanctioning bodies. The 30-year-old hails from Rakhmon, Uzbekistan, but lives and trains in Detroit at the Kronk Gym under SugarHill Steward. Ergashev has made several exciting appearances on national television, including an impressive fourth-round knockout of veteran Abdiel Ramirez, a third-round knockout against then top-10 rated Sonny Fredrickson, a 10-round unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Mykal Fox and his most impressive victory to date, a first-round demolition of normally durable and capable veteran Adrian Estrella in January 2020, shortly before the pandemic.

On the undercard, rising super welterweight powerhouse Marlon Harrington (7-0, 6 KOs) will be appearing in an eight-round showdown, as will fast-tracking former national amateur champion and undefeated professional middleweight Joseph Hicks Jr. (1-0, 1 KO) of Grand Rapids, Michigan in a six-round bout.

Fighting in supporting bouts will be a trio of undefeated Michigan prospects, including super welterweight Husam Al Mashhadi (3-0, 3 KOs) of Dearborn, as well as super lightweight Ferris Dixon Jr. (2-0, 1 KO) and also undefeated super welterweight Da’Velle Smith (2-0, 2 KOs), both of Detroit.

All opponents will be announced shortly and all bouts are subject to change. The Ford Community & Performing Arts Center is located at 15801 Michigan Ave. in Dearborn. On fight night, doors open at 6:00 pm and the action starts at 7:00 pm.
