Manchester, England – (June 20, 2023) – Two guaranteed crowd-pleasers were today confirmed for the BOXXER: Crews-Dezurn vs Marshall card, with highly-rated Manchester area super-middleweight Mark Jeffers seizing a huge opportunity to replace the injured Mark Heffron in a Commonwealth Silver title clash with Zak Chelli and the sensational Ben Whittaker stepping up another level in Manchester’s AO Arena on Saturday July 1st, live on Sky Sports.

Heffron had been due to defend his Commonwealth Super-Middleweight Championship against Chelli (13-1-1, 6 KO’s) next weekend but was forced to withdraw last week due to an injury sustained in training. The undefeated and hotly-tipped Jeffers (15-0, 4 KO’s) saw an opportunity to step in and take a big scalp in a clash which now has the vacant Commonwealth Silver Super-Middleweight Championship on the line. 

Fighting out of the Manchester satellite town of Chorley – also home to Jack Catteral – the rising Jeffers is trained by Michael Jennings, whose own standout professional career took him all the way to the USA to lock horns with all-time great Miguel Cotto in New York’s legendary Madison Square Garden. 

Jennings has declared his Jeffers to be “twice as good as I was at the same age” and is confident of his fighter’s ability to step in on short notice and upset the surging Chelli, who carries career-best form into the bout as he comes off his dominant win over former WBA Intercontinental champion Anthony ‘The Magician’ Sims Jr in February.

Whittaker (3-0, 2 KO’s) won a silver medal for Great Britain at the 2020 Olympic Games and has won a legion of fans since entering the professional ranks last year, his supremely confident showboating style harking back to his idol ‘Prince’ Naseem Hamed and proving a huge hit with fight fans.

The Wolverhampton wonderkid has made no secret of his ambitions to fast-track himself to the bigtime: he went immediately into six-round fights after turning professional, skipping any four-round experience, and is now stepping up for an eight-round bout in what is only his fourth professional fight.

For Jonas – the first woman to box for Great Britain at an Olympic Games – it’s another chance to make history and follows a blistering 2022 run which saw her capture three world titles in an unprecedented nine months to become unified world super-welterweight champion, a feat which led to her being declared the 2022 Fighter Of The Year by the British Boxing Board of Control.

Wyatt is a three-time welterweight world title challenger and the current WBA Intercontinental champion. She won that title on a visit to the UK in March this year and is confident of carrying that same championship-winning form into her clash with Jonas next month.

WORCESTER, Mass. (June 19, 2023) –“Punch-Out at Polar Park”, presented by Shearns Boxing Promotions (SBP) in conjunction with Kenrick Ball’s Camp Get Right Boxing, will be the first boxing event held at Polar Park in Worcester, Massachusetts.

The centerpiece of a revitalized City of Worcester, the state-of-the-art Polar Park will host a Pro-Am boxing event on Friday, August 4 (Aug.. 5 rain date), showcasing New England professional and amateur boxers. It is the home of the Boston Red Sox Triple-A affiliate Worcester Red Sox (WooSox) and its officials are fully committed to the local community. A share of the proceeds from what is believed to be the first outdoor boxing show in Worcester history will be donated to local charities.

“I am really pleased with this card has come together,” promoter Chuck Shearns said. “We certainly have some fighters stepping up against each other. Worcester light heavyweight Kendrick “Peppa” Ball, Jr. (20-1-3, 12 KOs), a former New England middleweight and WBC USA Silver super middleweight champion, will headline “Punch-Out at Polar Park” against Mexican southpaw Oscar “Moustro” Riojas (28-16-3, 16 KOs) in the  eight-round main event. Ball is a fixture at Polar Park having worked there during its construction, in addition to throwing out a ceremonial first-pitch at a WooSox game.

Brockton’s undefeated super featherweight “King” Kevin Walsh (9-0, 4 KOs) is the latest boxer from the City of Champions that was home to Hall of Famers Rocky Marciano and Marvelous Marvin Hagler. Walsh faces Philip Davis (3-5-2), of Worcester, in a six-round bout.

Puerto Rican welterweight prospect Josniel “TG” Castro (9-1, 7 KOs), who has lived in New England, returns to fight an opponent to be determined in an eight-rounder.

In a pair of four-round fights, Worcester police officer Neal Sullivan (0-0-1) faces Brazilian light heavyweight Michael Medeiros (0-1), while Native American Robert Degaetano, of Douglas (MA), makes his pro-debut versus welterweight Michael “Titan” Taylor (1-5).

Another highly decorated amateur boxer, super bantamweight Melanie “Pitbull” Costa (1-0, 1 KO), will be in a four-round bout against Sarah “Switch Kick” Click (1-5-1). A 2017 National Golden Gloves champion, Costa is a police officer in Norton (MA). 

The pro card will commence after amateur boxers from throughout New England compete in the inaugural Carlos Garcia Tournament, named after the National Golden Gloves Hall of Fame trainer who founded and operated the highly successful boxing program at the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester for four decades.

NEW YORK (JUNE 19, 2023) – Last Wednesday night in Plant City, Florida, Split-T Management super featherweight Dominic Valle remained undefeated with a sixth and final round stoppage over tough and upset-minded Carlos Rosario at The Probox Event Center.

It was a close fight early as Rosario was able to get in a few uppercuts in the opening frame. From there on, Valle began to land hard shots and slowly break down Rosario. In round Six, Rosario turned up the heat and landed a big flurry of punches that had Rosario reeling. Valle baked Rosario into the ropes and landed another barrage of punches and the fight was stopped with just one second remaining at 2:59.

Valle of Lutz, Florida is now 6-0 with five knockouts. Rosario of Winter Haven, Florida is 6-2.

Joe Dawejko dropped Dennis Vance Jr. four-times in the opening round en-route to a first round stoppage in a six-round heavyweight bout.

Dawejko sent Vance down each time with wicked lefts to the body and the fight was stopped upon the fourth knockdown at 2:01.

Daeejko of Philadelphia is 25-10-4 with 14 knockouts. Vance is 4-10.

Leandro da Silva and Victor Darocha fought to a six-round majority draw in an entertaining light heavyweight bout.

Regis Prograis defended the WBC Super Lightweight title with a 12-round split-decision over Danielito Zorrilla at the Smoothie King Center in New Orlenas.

In round one, it looked like Zorrilla scored a knockdown when he landed a left hand that sent Prograis to the canvas, but was ruled a slip. That was the difference in the fight as in round three, Prograis landed a quick left that put Zorrilla down.

Prograis, 139 lbs of New Orleans won by scores of 118-109 and 117-110, while Zorrilla took a 114-113 card.

Prograis is 29-1. Zorrilla, 139 lbs of Toa Boja, PR is 17-2.

Shakhram Giyasov remained undefeated with a 12-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Harold Calderon in a welterweight bout.

In round 10, Calderon was cut over his right eye.

Jeremy Hill stopped Mark Davis in round four of their eight-round lightweight bout.

In round four, Hill landed a perfect right to the chin that hurt Davis. Hill followed up with three hard shots that blasted Davis into the ropes and down to the canvas, and the fight was stopped at 1:29.

The 28-year-old Martin (17-0, 12 KOs) stamped his status as one of the elite 135-pounders in the sport last December at The Cosmopolitan as he dropped the previously unbeaten Michel Rivera on his way to a dominant unanimous decision . Martin’s initial ascent at 135-pounds saw him begin by stopping then unbeaten Jerry Perez in April 2021 before dispatching of tough contenders Jackson Marinez, Romero Duno and Ryan Kielczweski. Originally from Indianapolis, Ind., Martin now trains in the Dallas-area under the guidance of highly renowned trainer Derrick James and alongside his promoter and unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr.

Harutyunyan (12-0, 7 KOs) earned a Bronze medal representing Germany at the 2016 Olympics before turning pro in late 2017. Born in Armenia and now fighting out of Hamburg, Germany, Harutyunyan scored a career-best victory by knocking out then unbeaten Samuel Molina in five rounds in September 2021 and most recently defeated Humberto Galindo by unanimous decision last June. The 32-year-old will make his U.S. debut on July 15 after fighting in Germany for his first 12 outings.

“I respect all of my opponents, but Frank Martin is just my next step toward reaching my dream of becoming world champion,” said Harutyunyan. “I’m very happy to be making my U.S. debut in Las Vegas and I know that the crowd is going to love me. One of the sport’s most accomplished active fighters, Donaire (42-7, 28 KOs) has captured titles at flyweight, bantamweight, super bantamweight and featherweight. He will look to make another run at bantamweight after capturing the title with a May 2021 knockout of Nordine Oubaali and eventually a defeat to Naoya Inoue in their June 2022 rematch. Representing his native Talibon, Bohol, Philippines, Donaire’s previous campaign at bantamweight began in 2018 by upsetting then unbeaten champion Ryan Burnett in his hometown to capture a title once again, before eventually dropping the belt in the 2019 Fight of the Year in his first matchup against Inoue.

“I’m coming to the ring on July 15 to take that belt home and there’s no second option for me,” said Donaire. “I’m thankful to my team for this opportunity and I’ve been training hard to make the most of it. I’ve brought in some really fast fighters who have helped me prepare, and my team has really focused on giving me some defensive pointers. I’m ahead of schedule right now and I can’t wait to get in there.”

A native of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, Santiago (27-3-5, 14 KOs) will compete for a bantamweight crown for the first time in his career on July 15, as he enters this fight on a three-bout winning streak since a majority decision loss to Gary Antonio Russell in November 2021. The 27-year-old had previously fought for a 115-pound championship in September 2018, battling Jerwin Ancajas to a split-draw. Santiago most recently avenged one of the draws on his record, as he stopped Antonio Nieves in seven rounds last October.

His most recent fight came in February on SHOWTIME as he defeated Joseph Adorno by decision to follow up stoppages of Juan Pablo Romero and Juan Jose Velasco. The 27-year-old burst onto the scene with knockout victories in 10 of his first 11 fights and totaled an impressive five wins in 2020. Originally from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Rodríguez now lives and trains in Los Angeles, Calif.

A feared contender in the 140-pound division, Postol (31-4, 12 KOs) returns to the ring after a defeat to top contender Gary Antuanne Russell at The Cosmo in February 2022. Fighting out of California and originally from Ukraine, Postol, knocked out Lucas Matthysse in 2015 to capture a super lightweight world title before losing a unification showdown against Terence Crawford. Postol had won three of his previous five fights before facing Russell, with the only defeats in that stretch coming against the then-unified champion Jose Ramirez and the former undisputed champion Josh Taylor, both by decision.

In an exciting toe-to-toe bout, Villa broke through in the 12^th and final round as he dropped Ellis twice to clinch the career-changing win. The 30-year-old made a memorable U.S. debut last September as he dropped the previously unbeaten Janelson Bocachica on his way to a unanimous decision. The only blemish on his resume came via a 2019 split-decision in Mexico against Marcos Vilasana.

He most recently stepped up his competition again, cruising to a shutout unanimous decision against hard-hitting veteran Jorge Cota in May 2022 on SHOWTIME.

Representing his native Houston, Taylor (14-1-2, 1 KO) is unbeaten since dropping a four-round decision to Ladarius Miller in just his fourth pro fight back in 2015. Since then, the 29-year-old has worked his way up the ladder, including scoring victories over then-unbeaten fighters Sanjarbek Rakhmanov, Marlon Harrington and Jimmy Williams. Taylor has also fought tough contenders Paul Kroll and Luke Santamaria to draws and most recently defeated Oscar Chacin in February of this year.

De Los Santos (15-1, 14 KOs) has scored emphatic knockout victories over previously undefeated opponents in his last two outings to stamp himself as a young fighter to watch. Last September the Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic-native stepped in on short notice and dramatically stopped Jose Valenzuela in three rounds to punctuate a firefight that saw both men hit the canvas. Previously, De Los Santos blasted out Luis Acosta in two rounds in March 2022. The 23-year-old power-puncher has ended all but one of his victories by knockout since turning pro in 2018

“I’m planning to show the world that I am an uncrowned world champion by scoring another sensational knockout on July 8,” said De Los Santos, who suffered his only defeat in January 2022 against another undefeated fighter on SHOWTIME. “I want to thank my team for giving me another opportunity to show off my skills and for believing in me after my defeat. Adorno (17-2-2, 14 KOs) will look to get back in the win column after losing a narrow decision to 140-pound contender Elvis Rodriguez in February. Prior to that defeat, Adorno had won three-straight bouts, including a unanimous decision victory over previously unbeaten Hugo Alberto Roldan in September 2022. The 24-year-old was born in Union City, N.J., and now resides in Allentown, Pa., and is trained by respected coach Raul “Chino” Rivas. Adorno turned pro in 2016 at the age of 17 after a standout amateur career where he amassed a 178-22 record and beat two-division champion Shakur Stevenson twice in the unpaid ranks.

“For this fight, I’ve had a full training camp, so there are no excuses and I’m ready to perform,” said Adorno. “I expect De Los Santos to come ready and be strong. We know he has power in both hands and we’re gonna be ready for what he’s bringing. My boxing skills will be the difference and get me the victory on July 8.”

The vacant IBO world super bantamweight title will be on the line when Lee McGregor makes a hero’s return to Edinburgh next month. 

‘Lightning’ faces the dangerous Mexican Erik Robles at the Meadowbank Sports Centre on Friday, July 21, live-and-free-to-air on Channel 5. 

Excitement levels were already through the roof for McGregor’s homecoming, but the stakes have been raised with today’s news that the Hearts supporter will be fighting for the IBO belt. 

Tickets for the 26-year-old’s shot at world glory go on sale at 12pm today and are expected to sell out quickly. 

The Wasserman Boxing event, delivered in association with Ladbrokes, Numan and Infinitum Entertainment, will be McGregor’s first since signing with the global promoter and he has described the fight as potentially “life changing”. 

But the former bantamweight king knows that Mexico’s Robles is a “very risky” opponent to face and is predicting a bruising battle in front of a full house.

Lee McGregor said: “It’s a big fight, it’s a life changing fight for me.

“I didn’t think it would be possible to go straight back into a big title fight like this, and so when it got put forward, it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. 

“It’s going to get the fans buzzing, get people talking about me again and so I need to go in and put on a performance to pick up this belt and add it to my collection. 

“But it is very, very risky with these fights. We’ve seen time and time again with Mexicans coming over to the UK and upsetting people, so I need to be switched on.” 

Erik Robles, the hard-hitting southpaw who has stopped four of his last five opponents, said: “On July 21, in Edinburgh, I will add my name to the long list of world champions from Mexico. 

“Everyone expects McGregor to win this fight, he is the favourite and he has his home fans on his side, but he has never faced a Mexican fighter before. Next month, he will learn all about the Mexican fighting spirit.”

LAS VEGAS (June 14, 2023) — Pound-for-pound dynamo Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada will defend her WBC and WBA minimumweight world titles against Argentina’s former world champion Leonela Yudica on Friday, July 28 at Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

In the 10-round junior lightweight co-feature, unbeaten Las Vegas native Andres “Savage” Cortes will take on Sacramento-born contender Xavier Martinez.

Two years later, she captured the WBA minimumweight and WBO light flyweight titles in fights against Anabel Ortiz and Tenkai Tsunami. Estrada then vacated those belts to pursue undisputed glory at minimumweight. She signed with Top Rank in 2022 and returned from a nearly 11-month layoff in November of that year to shut out Jazmin Gala Villarino. In March, she added the WBC belt to her collection with a shutout win over the previously unbeaten Tina Rupprecht.

Yudica (19-1-3, 1 KO) debuted as a pro in April 2012 and captured the IBF flyweight world title with a split decision win against Gabriela Bouvier in December 2014. She held the title for nearly eight years, fighting to a draw in her first defense against Vanesa Lorena Taborda in 2015 before defending it seven times. The native of San Juan, Argentina, lost the belt in a tightly contested split decision loss to Arely Muciño in October 2022 and is coming off a 10-round decision victory over Tamara Elisabet Demarco in April.

He shined on the Emanuel Navarrete-Liam Wilson undercard in February, shutting out Puerto Rican upstart Luis Melendez in his first scheduled 10-rounder. He bounced back in January with a 10-round decision win over Adam Lopez. Romero edged Alejandro Lopez by split decision in 2013 to capture the IBF junior featherweight world title. He is 12-0 since losing the title in his first defense to Kiko Martinez.

Dominican Olympian Rohan “El Rayo” Polanco (9-0, 5 KOs) steps up against Panamanian-born contender Cesar “Rainman” Francis (12-1, 7 KOs) in an eight-round junior welterweight fight. Polanco went 4-0 as a pro before losing in his opening Olympic bout in Tokyo in 2021. Polanco returned to the paid ranks in November 2021 and is coming off a six-round decision win against Ricardo Quiroz in April. Francis seeks to regain his momentum following a 10-round decision loss to Jesus Saracho in January.

Marblehead, MA (June 13, 2023) – Reyes Boxing Promotions is pleased to announce the signing of heavyweight contender Michael “The Bounty” Hunter to an exclusive promotional contract.

Originally from Van Nuys, CA but living and fighting out of Las Vegas, NV, Hunter won silver at the 2006 National Golden Gloves despite only having five amateur bouts. Hunter became a three-time US National Champion and won the 2011 National Golden Gloves title.

In 2012, he represented Team USA at the London Olympics but was eliminated by current unified light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev.

Hunter turned pro in March 2013 and won his first 12 fights in impressive fashion. On April 8, 2017, he fought Olympic gold medalist and current pound for pound superstar Oleksander Usyk for the WBO cruiserweight title. Hunter got off to a good start but dropped a unanimous decision. 

Following the Usyk bout, Hunter moved up to heavyweight and scored impressive victories over Iago Kiladze (26-2), Aleksandr Utsinov (34-2), Sergey Kuzmin (15-0) and Mike Wilson (21-1), while fighting to an entertaining draw with former champion Alexander Povetkin.

The 34-year-old Hunter recently participated in Team Combat League, going 8-0 for the Las Vegas Hustle.

A second-generation pugilist, Hunter’s father Mike “The Bounty” Hunter was a talented heavyweight contender during the 1980’s and 1990’s.

NEW YORK (JUNE 13, 2023) – NEW YORK–Teofimo Lopez became a two-division world champion with an emphatic 12-round unanimous decision over Josh Taylor to win the WBO Junior Welterweight title before a Madison Square Garden Theater record crowd of 5,151.

“Teofimo’s win further cements his status as the true phenom of this era. His skill set, and ring IQ are unchallenged. He’s simply amazing,” said David McWater, President of Split-T Management.

The fight began at a fast pace with Taylor working the body. Lopez was able to land some “show me” right hands. Lopez started to foreshadow things to come by landing quick and pinpoint right hands that were able to stop Taylor in his tracks. That assault came in rounds three through five, with round four being a big frame for “The Takeover” as he rocked Taylor. The two fighters took turns over the next four-rounds.

Lopez was terrific over the next three rounds as he was dominant as hand speed proved to be too much. His right hand continuously found a home on the face of Taylor. In round 12, Lopez sealed the deal by hurting Taylor twice, with the latter being from a perfect right to the body that hurt Taylor.

Lopez, who was the undisputed lightweight champion, becomes a two-weight division champ by scores of 117-111 and 115-113 and is now 19-1. Taylor of Scotland is 19-1.

A stiff test awaits Dubois as she faces South American champion Yanina ‘Panterita’ Lescano (13-2, 4 KO’s), who last year lost a controversial decision in Dubai when she challenged Estelle Mossely in her challenge for the IBO World Lightweight Championship.

With Dubois’ star on the rise – the undefeated young prodigy has scored five of her six wins inside the distance since turning professional last year – Lescano heads to London hoping to stop her momentum and steal her shine, while the ambitious Dubois wants a statement win which will add weight to her calls for world title challenges in the near future.

A literal monster of a title fight occupies the midpoint of the Sky Sports televised card as Aaron McKenna (16-0, 8 KO’s) faces undefeated Uisma ‘Monstro’ Lima (10-8 KO’s) for the WBC International Middleweight Championship, with Lima having an 80% finish rate and three KO wins from his last four outings.

Heated cruiserweight rivals Viddal Riley (8-0,5 KO’s) and Anees Taj are fighting a second instalment of their feud, with neither having been satisfied with the cut stoppage which made Riley the TKO winner of their January first encounter, while Issac Chamberlain – the #1 contender for the British Cruiserweight Championship – returns to the ring in the opening bout of the televised card. 

Super-lightweight prodigy Adam Azim, British boxing’s hottest prospect, had been due to headline this Friday’s event but has been forced to withdraw due to a severe infection in the dorsal hood of his left hand, which his team believe was acquired when Azim cut his knuckles in a training session several weeks ago.

Housing the tendons responsible for finger movement, the infected area has proven resistant to prescription antibiotics and is so painful that Azim could not use the hand in a test sparring session at the end of last week, prompting his team to withdraw him. Azim will be rescheduled for a BOXXER card later this year.

He is looking to rebound from his last two fights, both split decisions losses.  He goes up against Sanchez, a 26-year-old from Encino, who is a former WBO Latino and WBA Fedecentro Bantamweight champion.

Alvarez’ fourteen-year amateur career culminated with back-to-back 2019 and ’20 Mexican Championship Gold Medals and a Bronze in the Pan Am Games. The 24- year-old Cordoso is a former Brazilian Lightweight Champion, has also challenged for the WBA Latino title.

ATLANTIC CITY (June 11, 2023)–A packed card will be on display on Saturday night, June 17th, boxing returns to the Ballroom at Bally’s Atlantic City as Champions Sports and Entertainment presents Fling Boxing Father’s Day Weekend Knockout.

Heading the seven bout card will be super lightweight Dimash Niyazov. Niyazov (14-1-3, 6 KOs) of Brooklyn, New York taking on Larry Fryers (12-6-1, 5 KOs) of Albany, New York via Clones, Ireland in a bout scheduled for 10-rounds.

Niyazov is a former New York City police officer, who now works on the force in St. Petersburg, Florida.

In six-round bouts, Pierre Hubert Dibombe (21-0-1, 11 KOs) of France takes on the tough veteran Derrick Findley (35-29-1, 25 KOs) of Merrillville, Indiana in a super middleweight bout.

Los Angeles, CA (June 9, 2023) The Fastest Rising Star in Boxing, ‘King’ Callum Walsh, (7-0, 5 KOs), stayed perfect on Friday night with a fourth round knockout over World Title Challenger Carson Jones, (43-16-3, 31 KOs), in the main event of Tom Loeffler’s 360 Promotions’ Hollywood Fights Nightsat the Commerce Casino and broadcast globally on UFC FIGHT PASS.

Fighting in front of a star-studded sold-out crowd, the 22-year-old southpaw native of Cork, Ireland, looked exceptional from the outset working behind a piston-like jab while displaying his full arsenal of power shots against the crafty veteran. Bloodying and dropping Jones in the fourth round, Walsh earned the knockout as referee Eddie Hernandez called a halt to the contest at the end of the stanza. With the victory, Walsh earned the WBC Silver US Super Welterweight Title in the scheduled ten-round bout.

Said the Freddie Roach trained Walsh, “I’m throwing every punch with bad intentions. I knew I had him ready to go and took care of business. A good win against a very experienced fighter, I’m happy with my performance. I’m very happy winning this title but there’s much more to come.”

In the scheduled eight-round co-main event, Austrian light heavyweight power puncher Umar Dzambekov, (5-0, 4 KOs), stopped Crispulo Javier Andino, (24-15-1, 12 KOs), of Argentina in the third round. A blistering right hand to the body at 1:57 of the third round resulted in a show-stopping knockout.

Undefeated women’s bantamweight Gloria Munguilla, (4-0), of Los Angeles, CA dropped Lilian Almaraz, (0-3), in the opening round enroute to a four-round unanimous decision against the valiant native of Sacramento, CA. Scores for Munguilla were 39-36 on all four judge’s scorecards.

In an exciting six-round super lightweight contest, Israel Mercado, (9-1-1, 7 KOs), of Pomona, CA and Jesus Carrillo, (11-7-3, 4 KOs), of Durango, Mexico fought to a hotly contested draw. Both fighters traded knockdowns in the second round with each subsequent round featuring excellent two-way action. Scores were 59-55 for Mercado, 58-56 for Carrillo and 57-57.

Highly touted welterweight Gor Yeritsyan, (15-0, 13 KOs), stopped Gustavo Vittori (28-15-1, 12 KO’s) the second round. Aggressive from the opening bell, Yeritsyan dropped Vittori twice in the second stanza as the fight was called off at the 2:15 mark.

Stefi Cohen, (4-1-1, 1KO), was victorious in a four round unanimous decision over Esli Cervantes, (1-4), in their flyweight battle. Cohen finished strong in the fourth round of their evenly matched fight. Scores were 39-37 on all three judge’s scorecards for Cohen.

Fighting in a four-round super welterweight clash, Son of UFC Legend Anderson Silva, Kalyl Silva, (2-0, 1 KO), won his second professional bout with a unanimous decision over Peter Gonzalez, (0-1). Scores for the dominant Silva were 40-34 on all three scorecards.

Fighting in a super lightweight bout, David Romero, (4-0-1, 1 KO), won a dominant six-round unanimous decision over Andres Figueroa, (9-6, 5 KOs). All three judges scored the bout 60-54.

In a super featherweight clash, Michael Biramontes, (7-1, 4 KOs), won a fast-paced six-round unanimous decision over Pablo Melgar, (6-3-1, 4 KOs). Scores for all three judges were 60-54.

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (June 11, 2023) – Julien “Black Dragon” Baptiste turned in the best performance of his pro career last night, capturing the vacant United States Boxing Federation (USBF) Middleweight Championship, defeating Ryan Clark (2-4, 1 KO) by way of a convincing six-round unanimous decision.

Baptiste vs. Clark headlined “Fight Night at the Vets Club,” presented by Granite Chin Promotions (GCP), at Bridgewater Veterans Club in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

Baptiste, of Woburn (MA), had worked in training camp on overcoming performance anxiety in the ring. It was apparent from the start that he had accomplished his goal. He came out firing in the opening round as Clark charged forward, setting the stage for an all-action match. Baptise took control in the second landing numerous left hooks and right crosses. A straight right dropped Clark in the second, but the gutsy New Hampshire fighter responded in the third, aggressively going punch-for-punch with his gifted opponent.

In the fourth round, Baptiste consistently beat a tiring yet still dangerous Clark to the punch, as the latter’s face showed visible signs of Baptiste’s onslaught. The two went toe-to-toe in the fifth to set up the sixth and final frame, in which neither fighter let up right to the final bell.

“I’m incredibly proud of Julien through all the adversity and heartaches he’s dealt with during his journey in and out of the ring,” GCP president Chris Traietti said. “He dug deep and pulled it off to keep his career going. Stay tuned for August!”

Celebrated amateur Arika Skoog (2-0-1, 2 KOs) was too much for Orlando lightweight Sara “Switch Kick” Click (1-5-1) to handle. Skoog patiently boxed and established command, trapping Click in the corner and an accumulation of punches resulted in a third-round stoppage.

Skoog, of Roxbury (MA), won a gold medal at the 2020 USA Boxing Elite National Championships in addition to being a 2020 USA Olympic Boxing Team alternate and multiple New England Golden Gloves champion.

Former New England Welterweight Champion Mike “Bad Man” Ohan, Jr. (18-2, 9 KOs), of Holbrook (MA), outclassed game Alaskan welterweight William Parra Smith (4-15-1, 3 KOs) by way of a one-sided unanimous decision. After a “feeling out” first round, Ohan started throwing his sharp counterpunches, up and down on Smith, and Ohan’s devastating boxy attack weakened his opponent. Ohan’s left hook to the body broke-down Smith, who took a knee in the sixth and faded after that moment.

“Ohan was as sharp as I’ve ever seen him,” Traietti noted. “He’s getting better each fight. He’s ready for the deep end of New England boxing and he’s going to do exactly that next.”

Lynn (MA) gravedigger James Perkins (12-0-1, 9 KOs) kept his unbeaten streak intact, knocking out Texas journeyman Larry “Slo Mo” Smith (13-54-2, 9 KOs) in the fourth round. The heavy-handed Perkins throws each punch with bad intentions, closing the show with a pair of knockdowns in the fourth. First, he caught Smith with a right to the temple, but “Slo Mo” was able to beat the count. He followed with a straight right, which landed right on the button, sending Smith to the canvas where he was counted out.

The opening bout only lasted one minute as Scituate heavyweight Kevin Nagle (2-0, 2 KOs), fighting out of Scituate (MA), knocked out Brazilian heavyweight Reinaldo Da Costa Souza (0-2). The 272-pound Nagle decked Souza with a crisp left hook and the end came soon after, when Nagle connected with left hook, right upper cut combination
