Mauricio Lara stopped Jose Sanmartin in round three of their scheduled 10-round featherweight bout in Mexico City.

In round three, Lara dropped Sanmartin with a left to the body. Moments later, it was a right hand that sent Sanmartin down again, and the fight was stopped at 1:36.

Lara, 127.4 lbs of Mexico City is 25-2-1 with 18 knockouts. Sanmartin, 126.6 lbs of Barranquilla, COL is 33-6-1.

Angel Fierro stopped Jeremy Cuevas in round seven of a scheduled 10-round lightweight fight.

It was an action fight and in round two, Cuevas started to swell under his right eye.

In round seven, Fierro began to beatdown Cuevas and he battered Cuevas with about 20 unanswered shots in the middle of the ring, and the fight was stopped at 53 seconds.

Fierro, 135 lbs of Tijuana, MEX is 20-1-2 with 16 knockouts. Cuevas, 137.6 lbs of Philadelphia is 14-2.

Reshat Mati remained undefeated with a 10-round unanimous decision over Leonel Rodriguez in a super lightweight fight.

In round two, Rodriguez was cut on his forehead from an accidental headbutt.

Mati, 139.2 lbs of Staten Island, NY won by scores of 97-93 on all cards and is now 13-0. Rodriguez, 142 lbs of Aguascalientes, MEX is 11-3-1.

Alberto Mora remained undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over Diego Andrade in a super featherweight1 bout.

In round two, Andrade was bleeding from the nose.

In round eight, Mora landed a left to the body that was followed by a small right hand that sent Andrade to a knee.

Mora, 130.8 lbs of Mexico City won by score of 80-71, 79-72 and 78-73 and is now 4-0. Andrade, 131.8 lbs of Durango. MEX is 14-8-2.

Now based in Minneapolis, Morrell (7-0, 6 KOs) has shown off the prodigious talents that made him a standout in Cuba’s iconic amateur scene since arriving stateside in 2019. The 24-year-old captured an interim title by dominating the then-unbeaten Lennox Allen in August 2020 in just his third pro fight. Morell, who trains in Texas with renowned coach Ronnie Shields, has thrilled the crowd at The Armory in his adopted hometown with sensational knockouts in each of his last three fights. His most recent outing saw him deliver an electric SHOWTIME debut in stopping Kalvin Henderson in June.

The 30-year-old Yerbossynuly (16-0, 11 KOs) earned a shot at Morrell after delivering a statement knockout of Lennox Allen in the 10^th-round of their September 2021 showdown. A native of Zharkent, Kazakhstan who now fights out of Las Vegas, Yerbossynuly first turned pro in 2015 with knockouts in seven of his first eight outings, including two stateside triumphs. He returns to fight in the U.S. for the third time on November 5, having won his last two fights by knockout, including a stoppage of the previously unbeaten Issah Samir in December 2020.

The 25-year-old Gómez (6-0, 5 KOs) made a big statement in his U.S. debut on Christmas Day 2021, blasting out the typically durable Clay Collard in the first round of their showdown. Born in Havana, Cuba and now fighting out of Las Vegas, the southpaw showed power in both hands and relentless finishing skills, immediately making him a rising contender in the talent-laden super welterweight division. He most recently stepped up his competition again, cruising to a shutout unanimous decision against hard-hitting veteran Jorge Cota in May on SHOWTIME.

“I’m excited to be fighting back  on SHOWTIME,” said Gomez. “Jeison Rosario is a former world champion who has been in the ring with some great champions, and I’m expecting a very tough fight. My goal is to throw a lot of hard punches with accuracy and bring some excitement for those watching. Rosario (23-3-1, 17 KOs) will look to move himself into title contention at middleweight after scoring knockouts in three straight fights dating back to November 2021. The 27-year-old’s current streak comes after a pair of defeats versus undisputed 154-pound champion Jermell Charlo and top contender Erickson Lubin. Born in the Dominican Republic and fighting out of Miami, Rosario captured the WBA and IBF 154-pound belts by stopping Julian Williams in one of 2020’s biggest upsets, before losing the titles against Charlo.

“I’m super motivated for this fight,” said Rosario. “I’ve trained hard and I’m ready for war. Gomez is a good fighter with a lot of talent, but I’ve beaten talented fighters before. I’m not worried about what he brings to the ring because I’ve already been in there and shown I can go toe-to-toe with all the lions.”

The 26-year-old Czerkaszyn (20-0, 13 KOs) made a successful stateside debut in August, stopping Gilbert Venegas Jr. in the fourth-round of a matchup that streamed live on the SHOWTIME SPORTS^® YouTube channel. Originally from Ukraine and a citizen of Warsaw, Poland, Czerkaszyn turned pro in 2015 and owns three 10-round unanimous decisions on his record, hardly losing a round throughout the contests.

“I’ve been training since my last fight and I’ve stayed in shape so that I was ready to take advantage of an opportunity like this,” said Czerkaszyn. “I’m facing a good opponent, who’s very fast. I’ve seen him train before in Chicago and watched his fights, so I know what to expect. I’m hungry and I’m ready to show off my boxing skills on November 5.”

Gallimore (22-5-1, 17 KOs) has made a name for himself challenging the best fighters at 154 pounds and using his power and skill to present stiff competition. The 34-year-old owns a stoppage victory over former unified champion Jeison Rosario, and has also faced former unified champion Julian Williams, former champion Patrick Teixeira, and top contenders Sebastian Fundora and Erickson Lubin. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Gallimore has fought out of Chicago as a pro and most recently bested the previously unbeaten Leon Lawson III at The Armory in June 2021.

Sean Brewer stopped Christian Renteria in the opening round of their six-round super featherweight bout at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California.

In round one, Brewer dropped Renteria with a right to the body. Seconds later, it was a right to the lower ribcage that sent Renteria down again and the fight was stopped at 2:48.

Leonardo Sanchez stopped Francisco Duque in the third round of their four round lightweight bout.

Sena Agbeko won a 10-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Isaiah Steen in a super middleweight bout at Ballys Hotel Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Agbeko landed 75 of 308 punches. Steen was 73 of 365.

Agbeko, 167.2 lbs of Accra, GHA won by scores of 98-92, 97-93 and 96-94 and is now 27-2. Steen, 166.2 lbs of Cleveland, OH is 16-1.

Marquis Taylor won an eight-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Marlon Harrington in a super welterweight fight.

Taylor landed 156 of 520 punches. Harrington landed 54 of 341.

Taylor, 154 lbs of Galena Park, TX won by scores of 80-72 and 79-73 twice and is now 13-1-2. Harrington, 153.6 lbs of Detroit, MI is 8-1.

Johnson Decisions Garcia

Moses Johnson took an entertaining eight-round majority decision over Elvis Garcia in a heavyweight bout.

Johnson lanaded 190 of 568 punches; Garcia was 209 of 528.

Johnson, 259 lbs of Huntington, NY won by scores of 77-75 twice and 76-76 and is now 9-0-1. Garcia, 232.8 lbs of Xalisco Nayarit, MEX is 12-1.

Dillian Whyte will face undefeated American contender Jermaine Franklin on his highly anticipated return to the ring on Saturday November 26 at the OVO Arena, Wembley, live worldwide on DAZN.

‘The Body Snatcher’ (28-3, 19 KOs) fell short in his challenge for Tyson Fury’s WBC Heavyweight World Title at Wembley Stadium in April, succumbing to a sixth-round stoppage defeat in front of over 90,000 fans. 

Brixton’s big-hitting former Interim WBC Heavyweight World Champion, 35, is set to fight at the OVO Arena, Wembley for the first time in his career as he looks to kickstart his journey towards a second shot at world honours. 

Michigan’s Franklin (21-0, 14 KOs) is unbeaten in 21 fights since joining the professional ranks in April 2015 and the 28-year-old will be fighting outside of the USA for the first time in his professional career when he meets Whyte over 12 rounds in London. 

Once described as America’s next Heavyweight hope, Franklin ended a two-and-a-half-year layoff by stopping Houston’s Rodney Moore in five rounds at McBride Hall in Gary, Indiana in May to extend his perfect record.

An action-packed undercard sees fast-rising Ipswich Heavyweight Fabio Wardley (14-0, 13 KOs) clash with Nantwhich’s Nathan Gorman (19-1, 13 KOs) for the vacant British Title, former WBA Light-Heavyweight World Title challenger Craig Richards (17-3-1, 10 KOs) take on Latvian warrior Ricards Bolotniks (19-6-1, 8 KOs) in an exciting match-up at 175lbs and Derby’s Sandy Ryan (4-1, 2 KOs) challenge Mexico’s Magali Rodriguez (20-6-2, 9 KOs) for her WBC Silver Super-Lightweight Title.

Wardley, 27, stopped Simon Vallily in three rounds of their hotly anticipated grudge match to pick up the vacant English Title at Fight Camp in August 2020 before blitzing Nick Webb inside one round to retain the belt a year later at Matchroom’s HQ in Essex.

Gorman, whose only loss came at the hands of Daniel Dubois back in July 2019, dusted off 15 months of ringrust in his last fight in June, bulldozing through Tomas Salek in just 81 seconds to win the IBF Intercontinental Title at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool.

Bolotniks, who holds wins over Steven Ward and Hosea Burton, will be familiar to UK fight fans following his brave battle with Olympic Bronze Medallist Buatsi at Matchroom’s second instalment of Fight Camp last summer – where he was eventually stopped in the eleventh round of their WBA International Title clash. 

Former Team GB star Ryan goes for her second title in the pro ranks after exacting revenge over Erica Anabella Farias – the only woman to beat her – at the Sheffield Arena in August to pick up the vacant WBC International Super-Lightweight Title. 

“It’s great to be back, doing what I love doing,” said Whyte. “I can’t wait to get into the ring and show the world that when push comes to shove I can get right back up in Wembley and remind everyone why I was WBC number one for over four years.

GLENDALE, ARIZ. – October 21, 2022 – International superstar and serial risk-taker Jake “The Problem Child” Paul offered a glimpse into his mindset as he puts the finishing touches on training camp just eight days out from taking on the toughest test of his career in UFC legend and accomplished boxer Anderson “The Spider” Silva.The must-see eight-round main event bout takes place on Saturday, October 29 in a Most Valuable Promotions event live on SHOWTIME PPV (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT) from Desert Diamond Arena, just outside of Phoenix, Ariz.

Paul’s co-trainer BJ Flores, a former cruiserweight world title challenger, also shared insight into the rigorous training camp that’s coming to a close in Paul’s adopted home of Dorado, Puerto Rico. JAKE PAUL

On the challenge of facing Anderson Silva: 

“It’s always good to have a big challenge because it pushes you to be perfect. There’s no room for lack of motivation or down time or complaining or anything like that. I know that this is a massive opportunity to catapult myself into the history books. To be a legend, you have to beat a legend and that’s what I have the opportunity to do here.”

On having respect for his opponent:

“It’s interesting having respect for my opponent where all the other ones we were talking trash to each other. But it’s super cool. He was my idol growing up and it’s a good change of pace. I have nothing but love for him, but I’m going to knock him out respectfully.”

On the improvements he’s made in camp:

“It’s about getting those 10,000 reps in to become a master. And so the technique is continuing to improve. Bringing my hips and my legs into the punches more and more. Even just growing my stamina to throw more punches. It’s been a constant evolution and my power has increased dramatically, which is scary for Anderson.

“So many things are clicking with it being my third year of being a professional boxer. I’ve improved drastically and exponentially. People are going to see a different fighter in the ring. I think people are going to be shocked. It’s been amazing and we’ve really caught a stride and a rhythm with the training camp this year.”

On his diet in camp:

“Breakfast is just an omelet with just one piece of toast. Sometimes I’ll skip lunch. I’m not really a big lunch person. It makes me tired and that makes me drop in weight. I’ll usually have a snack and some fruit and the snack is a high in fiber protein bar. Dinner is chicken or steak with quinoa, or quinoa with fish. Not a lot of carbs. So it’s been a really tough diet coming down to 187 but we’re wanting to do it the right way. Where I can wake up the morning of the weigh-in and have pasta if I want to. I could get to 175 next week if I wanted to do an MMA style weight-cut. But we cut the weight ahead of time so I never have to sit in the sauna and steam room and I’ll actually be the same weight.”

On his daily routine in training camp:

“Lots of sleep. I usually wake up around 1 p.m. We train a lot at night. We spar at night. We try to mimic fight night. Waking up and doing some kind of workout at night if I’m not sparring at night. That could be mitts, shadow boxing and then after that we do abs and we’ll go for a jog or weight training. Then it’s recovery and I have a stretch therapist. Then I go into a red-light bed. Then I come home, drink protein and then I go into the ice bath, then hot tub and back to ice bath. That usually recharges me right away.”

On sparring former world champion Chad Dawson in training camp:

“Chad Dawson raises my level of competition significantly. He pushes me to the next level and he makes me have to fight at my best. That’s what’s needed. If I can be in there with Chad Dawson, then I can beat Anderson Silva. I’m super excited for October 29 to go out there and show my speed.”

On his favorite part of training:

“I like the outdoor runs and jogs where my body just feels so good. I get into a rhythm. The music is playing, the sun is beating down and it feels like I’m in a boxing movie. The jogs are my favorite part for sure.”

On the daily routine in training camp:

“We schedule everything around the fight. On fight night, Jake probably won’t get into the ring until about 9:45, 10 p.m. We try to do everything on his fight night routine. We want him awake. We want him alert at night time. I don’t feel like there’s any real value in getting him up early and running at the crack of dawn. He’s a night owl. Plus, as long as we get the work done every single day, I just feel like the time of when you get the work done doesn’t matter. We want to do everything like a fight simulation.”

On the challenge of facing Anderson Silva:

“Anderson is a guy we’ve had our eye on for a long time. Anderson is a legend. He’s one of the greatest strikers of all time in any combat sport. We’ve taken it very seriously. He’s a very, very difficult challenge. It’s a massive step-up for Jake. It’s a very dangerous fight.

“The way that we attack Silva is obviously different to how we were preparing to attack Rahman. Rahman had more boxing experience. But not more fighting experience, not even close. So the way that we strategized and the way that we attack Anderson on fight night is going to be way different than it would have been for Rahman.”

On sparring in training camp:

“We’ve had Richard vanSiclen, who is 13-0. We’ve had Chad Dawson, who’s a former world champion. We’ve had Steve Cunningham and a lot of good guys in camp boxing with Jake who are very good southpaws. Southpaws who have been around for a long time just to give Jake that look over and over again and make sure he’s comfortable when he gets in the ring.

On the addition of co-trainer Danny Smith:

“We’ve added somebody very new to the team, Danny Smith. He was my trainer when I was boxing professionally. He’s one of the best trainers that I know. He’s one of my favorite people. Smart, intelligent guy who has been around boxing a long time. He’s somebody who taught me a lot about the game. He’s been very good for the strength and conditioning of Jake. He’s made Jake a better athlete as far as getting him stronger and faster. He’s excellent on the mitts. He’s been a great addition to the team.”

On the improvements Paul has made in training camp:

“Jake’s improvement since I first started working with him has just been incredible. The kid is just a nonstop worker. He’s a tireless worker. He’s very determined. He’s very goal-oriented. He’s very big on manifestation. Speaking what he wants into existence and actually going out and putting in the work to do it every single day.

“I would compare him when he fought AnEsonGib to a kid who just started learning how to ride a bike with training wheels on. After the Nate Robinson fight, he still had them on. After the Ben Askren fight, he was just slowly going along. Now he’s doing pretty good. He’s really improved a lot. He’s raised his boxing IQ. He’s really understanding the sport of boxing and taking it really seriously. It’s been almost three years of film study and reviewing every single sparring session that he does and talking about what he does well and what he needs to improve on and where he can get better. Over the last year, he’s sparred an extra 250 rounds with at least 50 different sparring partners. Good professionals. All of that just makes him a lot better.

“It’s an unbelievable amount of progress that he’s had over the last 12 to 18 months. It’s really impossible for anybody really to know how good Jake is and how he’s doing right now because he’s gotten so much better since last year that it’s impossible to handicap that. It’s impossible for any experts to know except those that are in camp with him. It’s been fun to watch.”

On the final days of training camp and fight week:

“We sparred twice the week before fight week. He’s in such good shape right now. We’re not doing as many rounds but we’re keeping him sharp. Keeping him firing on all the right levels. The main thing now is just making weight. 187 pounds. He’s already close. We’ve got a routine where days that he’s not sparring, we’re working on things in the gym. We’re making a conscious effort to get the weight down. Incline walk, sprints. We’ve been doing distance runs for 12 weeks. He’s in phenomenal shape right now. He’s prepared to go the eight rounds no problem but we’re also very realistic that this fight might not go eight rounds.

“We travel to Phoenix on Sunday. We’ll shake out on Monday. We’ll spar one final time on Tuesday. He likes to spar the week of the fight. And then after that, we have an open workout Wednesday, a final press conference on Thursday and a weigh-in on Friday. He’ll be ready to go.”

NEW YORK (October 21, 2022) -Tonight, Split-T Management fighters David Navarro and Joseph Hicks will see action at Ballys Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. Their fights will be part of the non-televised undercard of a SHOBOX: The New Generation card (9:30 pm ET/PT).

Navarro of Los Angeles will take on Luis Domingo Hernandez in a six-round super featherweight bout.

The 22 year-old Navarro has a record of 4-1 with two knockouts. A two-year professional, Navarro is coming off a six-round unanimous decision over Gavin Guaman on March 11th in Deadwood, South Dakota.

Hernandez of the Dominican Republic is 14-6-1 with nine knockouts. The 28 year-old Hernandez is a nine-year pro, who will be making his United States debut, and he is coming off a defeat to Juan Carlos Camacho on February 26th in The Dominican Republic.

Navarro weighed 127.6 lbs. Hernandez was 126.8 lbs.

Hicks will take on Luis Solis in a six-round middleweight bout.

Floyd Schofield remained undefeated with a first round annihilation of Daniel Rosas in a scheduled eight-round lightweight bout at The Fantasy Springs Resort in Indio, California.

Schofield dominated and landed a left hook that put Rosas down and out at 1:37.

Schofield, 134.8 lbs of Austin, TX is 12-0 with 10 knockouts. Rosas, 132 lbs of Mexico City is 22-6-1.

“I manifested this knockout, and I just feel so good right now,” said Schofield. “This is the fight game, and I hope he is ok. When Oscar came into my dressing room, I almost had a heart attack – I was like dang – this is real. I’m happy and I’m proud of myself and my team. It’s a dream come true. Anabel Ortiz Decisions Maria Santizo

Former world champion Anabel Ortiz won an eight-round unanimous decision over former world title challenger Maria Santizo in a light flyweight bout.

Ortiz, 108 lbs of Mexico City won by scores of 79-73, 78-4 and 77-75 and is now 33-5. Santizo, 106.6 lbs of Guatemala City, GUA is now 10-2.

“The fight proved to be a hard one, but it was experience that helped me secure the win,” said Ortiz. “There were points in the fight where she would make me mad when she would grab me by the back of my head and I just wanted to unleash on her, but I knew I had to conserve my energy. Right now, I am going to eat a hamburger and drink a coca-cola, and then discuss with Roberto Diaz what my next steps are.”

Joshua Garcia remained undefeated with a four-round unanimous decision over Christian Lorenzo in a super featherweight bout.

Garcia, 130 lbs of Moreno Valley, CA won by scores of 40-36 and 39-37 twice and is now 6-0. Lorenzo, 128 lbs of Los Angeles is 3-4.

Jorge Estrada remained undefeated with a four-round majority decision over Sergio Gonzalez in a middleweight bout.

Estrada, 149.8 lbs of Mexicali, MEX won by scores of 40-36 twice and 38-38, and is now 4-0. Gonzalez, 155 lbs of Mexico is 6-12-1.

Eric Tudor remained undefeated with a second round stoppage over Ramon Marquez in a super welterweight bout.

In round two, Tudor dropped Marquez with a left to the body. Seconds later, it was another hard body shot that put Marquez down again. Marquez nose was starting to bleed, and the fight was stopped after hard flurry at 2:41.

NEW YORK (Oct 20, 2022) — Rising featherweight contender Robeisy “El Tren” Ramirez will fight Argentina’s Jose Matias Romero in a 10-round showdown Saturday, Oct. 29 at Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. Romero replaces former world champion Jessie Magdaleno, who was forced to withdraw from the bout with a hand injury.

Ramirez-Matias will serve as the co-feature to the Vasiliy Lomachenko-Jamaine Ortiz lightweight main event, streaming live and exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+.

“The opponent does not matter. I will put on a show October 29 in New York City,” Ramirez said. “I have the utmost respect for Romero, who took the fight on short notice. But once we get in that ring, I am coming full steam ahead at him for the win. ‘El Tren’ will not be derailed.”

“This is one of my biggest fights. My layoff was just due to a lot of fights and shows not happening and opponents backing out but I was always in the gym getting ready for the opportunity.

“I’m going to out-box him and use my speed. I know he’s a power-puncher but I’m going to shock the world.

“My last fight on SHOBOX I was out-boxing Kalvin Henderson in the beginning of the fight, and I was trying to take him out. It didn’t go according to the game plan. I changed the game plan and used my jab to get the victory.

“I was at the fight when Kalvin Henderson challenged David Morrell in June [on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING^®]. That was supposed to be me in there against Morrell. I should have faced him.

“Sparring with [my half-brother] Charles Conwell has been great. He’s really pushed me and shown me a lot of inside game stuff, so I’m well prepared for this fight on the inside. I’m well prepared for this fight. Nothing worries me about him but he should be worried about me for this fight.”

“I’m one of the best super middleweights in the world. I just need the stage to prove it. I know a little bit about him. After I beat my last opponent, apparently Steen wanted to fight me. As fate would have it, his opponent fell through and he reached out and I said, ‘Let’s get it on.’ I imagine that Isaiah is right around the same level as my last opponent. I know he’s a young, hungry fighter but I believe I’m hungrier. This is an opportunity for me and I’m ready to take it.

“For me, every fight at this point is an opportunity to prove that I’m world championship material. My goal is to get a big opportunity against a big-name fighter, to get the win and to keep pushing forward. Isaiah Steen wasn’t expected but I had been training all along so when I got the call, I was excited. I immediately said yes.

“I thought I did pretty well against Vladimir Shishkin… That fight taught me that defense alone doesn’t win fights. You have to also be able to inflict serious damage so I’ve definitely done my homework and I’m ready to reintroduce myself.

“Isaiah has a little bit of everything. He can box when he wants to and he can be an aggressive brawler when he wants to be. For me, my biggest advantage is the experience level. I feel like he hasn’t really fought that many high caliber opponents. I’ve been around a long time. I’ve been through the mill but I don’t think he’s been through the mill. When we get to the late rounds, we’ll see how he responds. I’m prepared for whatever.

“I think that most media when they talk about my power, they make it like I’m some devastating power and I hit hard. But I believe what really works for me is slowly breaking down my opponents through the rounds and then eventually I take them out of there. I don’t think I have that one-punch Mike Tyson power. I don’t have any of that. I believe it’s more breaking down my opponents down round by round and then eventually getting them out of there. I’m not the guy that looks for one-punch knockouts.

“I would love a world championship opportunity and at the moment Canelo has all the belts so I know I have to work my way up. I already have some names in mind but I’m not looking ahead of Steen. The goal is to get past him and then I’ll lay out my plan for the world to see.”

“The draw with Paul Kroll on SHOBOX still doesn’t sit right with me but I’m still grateful for the opportunity and the exposure. More people know who Marquis Taylor is, so still a positive came of that. I learned that I have to get stronger than what I was in February. I learned that when I’m in a position to hurt my opponent, I have to go for it. I hurt Kroll a couple of times. I did go back to the gym and worked on my jab, strength and conditioning, and this time when my opponent is in danger, I’m looking for a better outcome.

“I’m looking to be in the conversation with all the top 10 guys at 154 pounds. I’m trying to get any of them in the ring. It’s just a matter of getting an opportunity to show everyone the level I’m actually on. I’ve been working a lot on head movement and bending my knees more, using my legs when I throw my shots, just sitting down more on my punches but still having good defense.

“COVID was a very confusing time for everyone but one thing I tried to do was find a way to train every day. I didn’t just sit and wait around. I did a lot of running, a lot of shadowboxing. I even changed the way I was eating because I was trying to stay at 147 pounds. I wanted to be like Thomas Hearns where I won a title at 147 pounds and then at 160 and 175. I really wanted to stay at 147. I even gave up beef and chicken and turkey and became a pescatarian. But those two years hurt me because when I tried to make 147 again, it just couldn’t be done.

“I was a bit of a different fighter when I emerged from the pandemic but these last few months, I’ve been getting back to myself, becoming more aggressive, sitting down on my shots, working on the sharpness of my punches. You can expect my punches to be way sharper and to have more of an effect. You can say I’m training for a knockout. I’m not a Tyson or a Deontay Wilder but I’ve been working on my technique and strength, and I want every fight to be better than the last.”

Marlon Harrington

“I’m expecting this to be a very good fight. I’m not looking to go the distance. I’m just going to go in there and implement my game plan. I’m trying to get him out of there. I’m coming in ready and I’m coming in to fight.

“I feel like I have one-punch power, concussive power, the kind of power where I can definitely end the fight with one punch.

“I’ve been cutting hair since I was 12. I have a nice clientele at home. That’s what I do. I’m a barber. Besides being a father and a fighter, I work at a barbershop. It’s my main source of income. I cut hair six days a week, with one day of rest so I can chill with my children.

“I like to play around with being a southpaw a lot once I get into a rhythm, but I’m mainly orthodox. When do I change to southpaw? I’m just in there creating, just having fun in there. I don’t know what I’m actually going to do until I do it. When it comes to turning southpaw, I just turn and let my hands go. So I think it tricks the opponent, especially if I get a guy hurt. It’s a different look, that’s the advantage it gives me.

“When I was getting people out there early, you don’t really learn anything. Going more rounds, I’ve actually learned a lot more. I learned I had to bite down and to relax. That’s the biggest thing, to not get over-anxious and exert more energy than I need to. Going those extra rounds actually helps.

“Before I got into boxing, I was doing bar fighting and street fighting. But in boxing, you’re actually fighting someone who knows how to fight versus some bum who’s been smoking and drinking and has a chip on their shoulder. I was the guy in the neighborhood who people would just call me and I’d just pull up and put the gloves on and fight, like street-fighting. I went to a boxing gym because I wanted to see if I could learn the fundamentals of fighting and that’s when I fell in with it and started taking it more seriously. I took a couple losses in street fighting but it built character.

“I first realized I had power when I was 17 when I knocked out someone for the first time and he was out cold. That’s when I knew I had real power. I’m looking to take my career as far as my body will take me. I’m looking to make a name. I’m here and I’m not looking to lay down for anyone. Am I looking for the KO? I’m punching to hurt you, so if you come at me, that’s what I’m going to do.

“Either the referee is going to stop it or I’ll stop it. I imagine my opponent has the same attitude. I know he comes to fight. He looks legit. This is the fight I need.”

Elvis Garcia

“I get my work ethic from my dad, who moved our family to Oregon when I was a kid. He picked strawberries and cherries in the fields. I started doing that when I was 13.

“I came to boxing later and started in MMA. I wanted to improve my striking so I thought I’d try boxing. I really started it to lose weight, and I just kept progressing and got a little more motivated and kept taking the opportunities as they came to me. I thought maybe I could be the first Mexican heavyweight world champion, but Andy Ruiz took that first. 

“I have a newborn baby now and it’s changed everything, just my mindset and how I approach things. I feel more pressure and know that I’m doing it more than just for me. I want to do everything for her and provide for my family and give them a different lifestyle. I don’t want them to struggle.

“Right now, my footwork is my best attribute. I can work the angles a lot better than I used to. The jiu jitsu I did as a kid really helped me with my flexibility but for my footwork the wrestling really helped me. My best punch is my right hand – my overhand right.

“My brother is the one who has always pushed me and always believed in me. He said I always had the talent, I just had to believe in it.

“I sparred with a lot of top guys like Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua. He once called me his ‘secret weapon’ because I was always applying the pressure.”

Moses Johnson

“I believe I’m going to be the heavyweight world champion. I’m around one of the best teams in boxing. I’m around great up-and-coming fighters and guys like B-Hop (Bernard Hopkins) and Chris Colbert. I’m training with these guys every day. My coaches don’t train me as a heavyweight. They make me push it out every session.

“It’s boxing for me 100 percent. I did work with kids who have disabilities. But now I just train and just fight.

“I’ve sparred with guys like Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller, Otto Wallin, all the top competition. I haven’t sparred yet with Tyson Fury or Wilder or Joe Joyce, but a lot of the top guys.

“I need to work on everything to get to that next level. To be at the top you have to work on everything. You have to have a good jab, you have to have good counter punching, you have to have good movement. And not just one technique. Unless you are Wilder and you have that right hand. But if that doesn’t work you have to have good boxing skills. You have to know how to coFunter and how to jab and how to position yourself to throw certain punches.

“I know nothing about Elvis. The way we train, we’re prepared for whatever. It doesn’t matter if they are a boxer or a brawler. We train so that we are ready for anything and everything in the ring.

“Boxing is my life. I love fighting and I think about it all the time. I’m always watching boxing videos and always reading up on it. I’m just so into it. If you’re going to do something you have to be all in. You can’t be half in.”

LONDON (Oct. 20, 2022) — In what will be a sensational heavyweight double-header, the WBC and lineal world champion Tyson Fury will defend his crown against long-standing rival Derek Chisora at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday December 3 on a night where WBA world champion Daniel Dubois will make a first defence of his belt against South African southpaw Kevin Lerena, exclusively on BT Sport Box Office (UK & RoI) and ESPN+ (U.S.).

Fury, who intends on fighting Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed championship in the first part of 2023, will once again perform on UK soil following his April knockout of mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte in front of 94,000 fans at Wembley Stadium.

Promoted by Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, in association with Top Rank, this will be the third meeting between Fury and Chisora. They first met in July 2011 with the British and Commonwealth titles at stake, and Fury prevailed by unanimous decision.

“I am thrilled to be delivering a Tyson Fury world title defence in front of the British fans in London,” said promoter Frank Warren. “Tyson clearly conquered America across his trilogy with Deontay Wilder and there is also huge demand to stage his fights from sites across the world.

“Derek, also a big favourite with British fans, has reinvented himself in recent years and Tyson has long stated his wish to fight him for a third time.

“Tyson can’t afford any slip-up in this fight as he has the much-publicised undisputed match-up with Usyk in the New Year which we’re really looking forward to.

“I am also delighted that we have added Daniel Dubois to the card with a first defence of his WBA belt against Kevin Lerena. It makes it a real heavyweight night and Daniel represents the best of the new generation coming through.”

In between Fury fights, Chisora (33-12, 23 KOs) challenged for the WBC title and gave a good account of himself against Vitali Klitschko in Munich, before entering into a grudge match at West Ham United’s Upton Park against another British rival in David Haye.

He rebuilt from those setbacks by winning the WBO International, European and WBA International titles in a five-fight winning streak, setting up a return fight with Fury that took place at London’s
ExCel Arena in November 2014.

In recent years, Chisora has been involved in two close encounters with Dillian Whyte and one with Usyk, while defeating Carlos Takam, Artur Szpilka and David Price. Last year, he lost a pair of tight affairs with Joseph Parker.

His last fight was an exciting points victory over former world title challenger Kubrat Pulev in July.

Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) remains an undefeated champion and completed his remarkable return from the boxing wilderness with a resounding rematch victory over Deontay Wilder in February 2020, with the Bronze Bomber saved by his corner in the seventh round.

A trilogy battle followed eight months later, which delivered a Las Vegas thriller where Wilder was put down in rounds three and 10 and Fury down twice in round four before knocking out the former WBC ruler in the 11th.

The 25-year-old Dubois (18-1, 17 KOs) seized his world title belt in June when he travelled to Miami and demolished previous champion Trevor Bryan, inflicting a first defeat on the American via a fourth-round stoppage.

Lerena (28-1, 14 KOs), 30, is a recent addition to the heavyweight ranks, having established himself as the IBO world cruiserweight champion, making six defences of the title. At heavyweight he has recorded victories over Patrick Ferguson, Bogdan Dinu and Mariusz Wach, winning the WBA and IBO Intercontinental titles in the process.

Wantagh, Long Island (October 19, 2022) – Star Boxing proudly announces “Shore Wars” will take place on Thursday, November 17th, at Mulcahy’s in Wantagh, Long Island. Having opened in 1983, Mulcahy’s has been the home for concerts and sporting events for nearly 40 years, but on November 17, Star Boxing will host the first ever professional boxing card in Mulcahy’s history.

Headlining the card is Long Island fan favorite, undefeated super welterweight, “THE JACKPOT” TYRONE “PRETTY BOY” JAMES (Elmont, NY, 12-0 9KO’s) against Germany’s, OMAR “THE GRINCH” SIALA (39-20-3 23KO’S). James, a shooting star in the northeast boxing scene, looks to close out the year with an emphatic victory over the game veteran, Siala. Should he succeed, James hopes to make a big splash in the super welterweight division in 2023. Siala who has won 5 of his last 7 fights by KO, is aptly nicknamed “The Grinch,” and enters the fight attempting to steal the perfect record of James in the 8-round bout.

Leading a thrilling undercard will be exciting undefeated super welterweight, ZAY “NO CHOICE” FLAHERTY (Elmont, NY, 4-0 2KO’s). Flaherty returns to the ring coming off a thrilling 4th round TKO victory in June over Quadeer Jenkins. Flaherty will be stepping up in a 6-round super welterweight bout.

In a much anticipated local matchup, NYC Police officer, EMMANUEL ETIENNE (Uniondale, NY, 2-0 1KO) will be in a 6 round cruiserweight bout against AFUNWA KING (Bronx, NY by way of Nigeria, 4-1 1KO). This fight is reminiscent of the glory days of boxing when two good prospects that are from the local NY gyms with established NY teams face each other. Etienne was last seen at Star Boxing’s “Borough Boxing” at Carnesecca Arena with a win over Tunde Fatiregun while King appeared on the same show with a win over Kamron Humphrey. Now the two will face off against one another in what has the makings of a very entertaining fight.

In yet another all NY bout, undefeated Yonkers based, super featherweight, IMAN LEE (3-0 2KO’s) who will face of with Staten Island’s DOM BREEN (pro debut) in a 4-round super featherweight bout.

Undefeated super lightweight, VICTOR “SLICK VIC” RABEI (Dublin, IR, 10-0 3KO’s) will be making his US debut at “Shore Wars.” Rabei who was born and raised in Moldova, moved to Ireland to intensify his training as an amateur boxer, before turning pro in 2017. Rabei will be fighting in an 8-round super lightweight bout.

Headlining is a six round junior lightweight contest between Massachusetts natives Gabriel Morales, 4-0 (3 KO’s) of Lowell and Lawrence’s Kevin Rodriguez, 3-1 (2 KO’s). Both are popular local fighters and the winner takes home the ABF Atlantic 130 pound championship.

In the co-featured bout of the evening, Nicholas “Saint Nick” Molina battles 24 fight veteran Ricardo “Tata” Ocampo of Argentina for the ABF lightweight title. Molina, 10-0 (4 KO’s) is a Lowell native that’s fought his entire career in New England. The well-traveled Ocampo’s fought in Argentina, Australia, Canada, Puerto Rico and three different US states.

2012 Olympic Bronze Medalist Yamaguchi “The Problem” Falcao defends his NABA and WBC Latino super middleweight titles against Alex Tehran in a ten round tilt. Falcao’s outstanding professional record is 22-1 with 9 knockouts. He’s won all three of his fights in 2022 and looks to close out the year in style. Tehran, 23-8 (15 KO’s) faced some of boxing’s best and defeated contender Adama Osumanu in 2021.

In a six round junior welterweight battle, Brazil’s Willian “Babyface” Silva squares off against Carlos Suarez of Argentina. Silva, 28-4 (16 KO’s), looks to make a run at 135 pounds if victorious. Suarez, 8-8-3 (4 KO’s), faced two of boxing’s pound for pound stars in Murodjon “MJ” Akhmadaliev and Shakur Stevenson.

Reyes Boxing Promotions’ newly signed junior middleweight Chris Thompson of Kansas City, MO meets Paraguay’s Jorge Rodrigo Sosa. Thompson’s a perfect 8-0 with 4 wins by knockout and scored a second round KO August 27 in Topeka, KS. The winner of Thompson-Sosa claims the ABF 154 pound title.

Junior welterweight Marqus Bates faces once-beaten Jonathan Montrel in a eight round contest for the ABF 140 pound championship. Born and raised in Taunton, MA, Bates’ 11-4 with 8 KO’s as a pro. He’s riding a four fight win streak, three of which came by knockout. Hailing from New Orleans, LA, Montrel’s an excellent 13-1 with 8 KO’s. He’s fought most of his career in Louisiana but is coming to Massachusetts with supreme confidence.

LAS VEGAS (Oct. 19, 2022) — Lightweight prodigy Emiliano “El General” Vargas, the youngest fighting son of former junior middleweight world champion “Ferocious” Fernando Vargas and one of boxing’s blue-chip talents, has inked a multi-year promotional contract with Top Rank.
 
Trained by his father, Vargas (1-0, 1 KO) is a seven-time national amateur champion who turned 18 in April. The Las Vegas native will make his Top Rank debut in a four-rounder Saturday, Nov. 12, at Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas on the undercard of the Janibek Alimkhanuly/Seniesa Estrada world title doubleheader. Vargas’ bout will stream live and exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+.

Vargas had a 110-10 record in the unpaid ranks before turning pro in May to great fanfare. He knocked out Mark Salgado in the opening round at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, a short drive from his father’s Oxnard hometown. He is part of a second-generation fighting family that includes his older brothers, Fernando Jr. and Amado, who are also undefeated professionals. The youngest Vargas has experiences well beyond his years, as he’s sparred former world champions Jorge Linares and Jamel Herring, in addition to current pound-for-pound great Shakur Stevenson.

Ferreira penned a long-term promotional deal with Matchroom and Eddie Hearn in the summer, and the amateur World champion and Olympic silver medalist will step through the ropes for the first time in the paid ranks in Cleveland against fellow Brazilian Taynna Cardoso (5-0 1 KO) over four rounds.
 
The 29 year old Ferreira is itching to get started in the pro game and wants to get active from debut as she targets adding professional World title honors to her impressive amateur background.
 
“I am excited to finally have my professional debut confirmed and especially for it to take place in the United States,” said Ferreira. “I want to put on a big show for all the boxing fans there so they can see what I am about.

In the night’s 10-round main event, undefeated Kenmon Evans (8-0-1, 2 KOs) of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, will take on Augusta, Georgia’s Aaron “Ghozt Mas” Casper (7-4-2, 5 KOs) for the NABA Light Heavyweight Championship.

In the co-main event, promising undefeated heavyweight Norman Neely (13-0, 8 KOs) of Paterson, New Jersey, will have his second fight in two months and fourth this year, when he takes on experienced southpaw veteran Jason “Iron Man” Bergman (27-20-2, 18 KOs) of Birmingham, Alabama, in a six-round brawl.

Undefeated hometown hero Josh Baker (1-0, 1 KO) of Myrtle Beach will look to stay perfect against 1-1, 1 KO Floridian Zachary Albornoz in a super middleweight four-rounder, while Marietta, Georgia’s all-action Ruben Mora will make his four-round super lightweight professional debut against an opponent that is TBA; and Don King-promoted undefeated Cuban prospect Raynel Mederos (7-0, 2 KOs) will also appear vs. TBA in a welterweight six-rounder.

In other supporting bouts, undefeated cruiserweight A’mire Lewis (4-0, 3 KOs) will face a deceptively tough six-round test from the 0-1 Raphael Carolina of Wendell, North Carolina, in what promises to be a slugfest.

Also scheduled is an appearance by 6’ 5” and 260-lb heavyweight powerhouse Maurice Jones (7-0, 6 Kos) of Asheville, North Carolina, in a six-round showdown against West Virginia veteran Anthony Williams (5-17-1, 3 KOs). A promising big man, Jones will soon be looking to test his skills against the best in the division.

And finally, local heavyweight hopeful Desmond Thompson (3-1, 3 KOs) will continue his pursuit of a championship in a four-rounder vs. TBA.

Five amateur bouts are scheduled to start the festivities, featuring Olympic hopeful Summer Griffiths, as well as fan favorites Jonathan “Hater Maker” Ashton and three other amateurs from Myrtle Beach’s Beast Boxing Gym.
