COSTA MESA, CA – Currently on an eight-show sellout streak, California’s premier combat sports event, Fight Club OC, returns to The Hangar at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa on Thursday, August 25, with the most highly-anticipated debut in women’s boxing since Claressa Shields’s first bout, as 10-time National champion Jesikah Guerra faces Seta Vatuvei in a featured four-round matchup at 154 pounds.

One of the most dominant amateurs of this era, 19-year-old Jesikah Guerra has made her country and her hometown of Victorville, California proud with her talent and a laundry list of accomplishments for Team USA. A recent winner of a gold medal in the Pan Am Games, Guerra was a strong candidate for the 2024 U.S. Olympic team but has decided she wants to chase championship gold in the pro ranks, and that quest begins on August 25.

QUINCY, Mass. (July 19, 2022) – In a crossroads fight that will determine the future careers of the participants, Anthony “The Gentle Savage” Andreozzi and Julien “The Black Dragon” Baptiste will fight August 6th in the 6-round. co-featured event on “The Next Chapter,” presented by Granite Chin Promotions, at Bridgewater Veterans Club in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

At stake will be the vacant Massachusetts Middleweight Championship, as well as bragging rights for the eventual victor.

Andreozzi (3-2, 1 KO), fighting out of Swansea (MA), is excited about the opportunity to fight for a title belt at this early stage of his pro career.

“Fighting for a title is surreal,” Andreozzi said. “This time two years ago, I had little more than a few BoxFit classes under my belt, and to get here from there in this time frame has been a wild ride. This win could be a huge launching point for my career. I didn’t follow the traditional path most fighters take. I don’t have the years of Golden Gloves or any amateur experience, nor do I pick and choose my opponents. Coach and I had the same mindset since my pro debut. It won’t be easy but, 10 toes in and punch our way through the rankings. This title will open doors for me to be on my way.

“I’ve seen Baptiste fight a few times. He’s a clean boxer with a strong physical presence. He can throw his hands and move his head well. But in the shows I’ve seen him get beat up by welterweights, one of whom is my teammate. Styles make fights is always a big talking point in our camp. My style is very fluid. I don’t stick to one stance, guard, mindset, or anything for that matter. Julien is a more traditional boxer. He has a nice rhythm and smooth strikes. I always say my first goal is to take their strengths and nullify them, followed by exposing and then capitalizing on their weaknesses. I like to play a lot of head games in the ring and set traps.

“We’d all like to say we’re going to knock him out, but he’s a big guy for this weight class, and I’m not even in this weight class. So, I’m not looking to waste my energy knocking him out. I think it will be a competitive fight the first few rounds, followed by me taking over the last four and torturing him for a decision win. If I clip him along the way that’s great, but I’m not chasing it.”

Baptiste (4-2, 2 KOs), of Woburn (MA), understands the implications of this fight regarding his immediate future.

“This is just another day at the gym, another win under my belt,” the 33-year-old Baptiste said. “It can change the outcome of my career, what will come out of it in the end. I’ve been doing everything right. In my life. I’ve sacrificed and I’m in great health. It’s my time!

“I know my opponent is tough. I didn’t watch him fight on the cards we were both on. I heard he presses to get the action started. We’ll see what August 6th brings. I’ll know what adjustments are needed to make to capitalize on his weaknesses once we’re in the ring. I’m not going to rush to put pressure on him for a quick knockout. I’ll do what I have to do to win,”

Former New England Welterweight Champion Mike “Bad Man” Ohan, Jr., fighting out of nearby Holbrook (MA), takes on Argentinian junior welterweight Jonathan “Yoni” Ariel Sosa (7-13-2, 4 KOs) in the 10-round main event.

There’s another Massachusetts title fight on tap as Raphael Torres (2-0, 2 KOs), of Framingham (MA), and Fall River’s (MA) Jonathan Gruber (3-1, 2 KOs) battle for the vacant Massachusetts Cruiserweight Championship in a 6-round bout.

New Bedford (MA) light heavyweight prospect Edet “Papito” Mkpanam (7-0, 6 KOs), the 2018 New England Golden Gloves runner-up, meets veteran Texas fighter Larry “Slo Mo” Smith (13-50-2, 9 KOs) a 6-rounder.

Promising Brockton (MA) welterweight David “The Blessed One” Ribeiro (1-0, 1 KO) meets 71-fight veteran DeWayne Wisdom in a 4-round match. The 25-year-old Ribeiro was a decorated amateur who captured a gold medal at the 2020 New England Golden Gloves Championships.

Hanover, MD (July 19, 2022) — Championship boxing returns to The HALL at Live! inside Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland as rising super featherweight Jordan “Short Dog” White takes on Derrick Murray for the WBC USNBC Super Featherweight Title on Saturday night, August 6th.

White of Washington, DC has a record of 13-1 with 10 knockouts. The 24 year-old White has been a professional for seven years. He won the WBC Intercontinental Youth title with seventh round stoppage over Ronaldo Solis (7-0-1). He followed that up with a sixth round stoppage over Miseal Lopez (11-0). In his last bout, White won the WBC USNBC Title with a split decision over Brandon Valdes (14-2) on February 19th at Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland. This will be his third consecutive and fourth overall appearance at Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland.

Murray of Saint Louis, Missouri is 16-5-1 with five knockouts. The 34 year-old Murray is an 11 year-professional who has wins over Cesar Alan Valezuela Zatarain (3-0-1) and Angel Flores (8-0). Murray is coming off a unanimous decision win over Tyrome Jones on June 11th in Saint Louis.

In the exciting 10-round co-feature, Demond Nicholson will take on Christopher Brooker in a super middleweight fight.

Nicholson of Laurel, Maryland, is 25-4-1 with 21 knockouts. The 29 year-old is a nine year veteran who has had his hand raised over German Perez (11-1-3), Joshua Okine (28-5-1), Isaac Rodrigies (25-2) and his last bout when he stopped Gabriel Phan (15-2) in five rounds on February 19th at Live! Diego Pacheco has extended his promotional deal with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom and will fight for his first pro title when he meets Enrique Collazo for the WBC USNBC Silver Super-Middleweight title on the undercard of the trilogy clash between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Gennadiy ‘GGG’ Golovkin at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday September 17. The event, presented by Matchroom, Canelo Promotions and GGG Promotions, will broadcast live on DAZN Pay-Per-View in the U.S. and Canada as well as around the world on DAZN (excluding Mexico, Latin America, and Kazakhstan).

Pacheco (15-0 12 KOs) has been a revelation in the paid ranks, cruising to 15-0 and ending 12 of those fights inside the distance since turning pro in December 2018. 

The 21 year old has already recorded two wins inside four rounds in 2022, with his last outing in June in Mexico his first over ten rounds, and now the rangy talent gets another first with a belt on the line in his second battle over ten.

Rodriguez suffered a small setback in his last fight by losing against Jose Marrufo in his first bid for a regional title. Nevertheless, he intends to put the taste of defeat in his past for good.

CHESTER, PA (July 18, 2022)–Bantamweight Dylan Price remained undefeated by displaying a scintillating performance in winning a 10-round unanimous decision over tough Drew Correll to capture the NBA Bantamweight world title at a sold out Elevations Event Center in Chester, Pennsylvania.

The six-bout card was promoted by Price Promotions.

Price came out fast by landing some wicked straight rights against the tall southpaw Correll. Correll looked to establish his long jab, and at times, he was successful. Price was able to put some vicious combinations throughout the contest. He was able to mix in hard body combinations with four and five flush punches to the head.   

Price was able to crack, but not break down the steel-chinned Correll. Almost each time it seemed like that anytime Correll was teetering on being in serious trouble, he would keep Price honest with a little flurry of punches.  Price’s punches were accurate, and were accompanied with speed and power, that saw Price came home with the victory and the title by scores of 99-91 and 98-92 twice.

Price of Sicklerville, New Jersey is now 15-0. Correll of Danville, New Jersey is 10-3.

The co-feature saw Frankie Lynn of Chester need just 32 seconds to dispose of Prince Francis in a one-sided battle of pro debuting middleweights.

Lynn dropped an overmatched Francis twice before the fight was halted.

Erron Peterson used a vicious body assault to take out Jeremiah Kendrick in round three of their scheduled four-round middleweight fight.

Peterson threw powerful punches to the side of Kendrick until it was determined that he had taken enough punishment for the evening at 2:56 of round three.

Peterson of Philadelphia is 1-0 with one knockout. Kendrick, also of Philadelphia, is 1-1.

Jalique Holden stopped Tyrique Gerald in round one of their four-round lightweight contest.

ATLANTA, GA – Fighters First Management, boxing’s newest management company, has named former boxing manager Adrian Clark its Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.

Clark has more than 12 years of experience in sports and entertainment, including creating “Protect Yourself at All Times,” an educational initiative designed to educate amateur and professional boxers about the business of boxing and how to protect their financial wellbeing while pursuing athletic accomplishments.

Prior to joining Fighters First, Clark was founder and CEO of AC Sports Management, a boxing management company acquired by Ballengee Group in 2019.

“The creation of Fighters First Management was inspired by Adrian’s best-selling book, Protect Yourself at All Times: A Guide for Professional Boxers,” said David Basha, founder of Fighters First Management. “We believe his strong leadership and innovative approach to sports management will help us become a successful and prominent model in boxing.”

NEW YORK (July 18, 2022)–Stephan Shaw made short work of Bernardo Marquez by scoring a first round stoppage of a scheduled eight-round heavyweight bout.

The bout took place on Friday night at The Pechanga Casino and Hotel in Temecula, California.

Shaw is managed by Split-T Management

In the opening minute, Shaw dropped Marquez with a wicked combination that was punctuated by a left hook. Shaw dropped Marquez in with a heavy combination. Shaw ended things with another crunching combination that saw four hard rights and a body shot that sent Marquez down and out at 2:35.

“I saw him buck and shake, and I went for the finish. I got a little bit excited, but I settled and got him out of there. I am looking for anything. It’s up to my team. I am willing to fight whoever and whenever,” said Shaw.

Shaw, 236.6 lbs of Saint Louis, MO is 17-0 with 13 knockouts. Marquez, 231.2 lbs of Imperial Valley, CA is 14-5-1.

HAMZAH SHEERAZ IS the new WBC Silver middleweight champion following a fifth round stoppage victory of the rugged Francisco Torres. Mark Heffron scored a title treble by halting Lennox Clark, Dennis McCann won the WBC International Silver belt with an eighth round stoppage of James Beech jr and Nick Ball retained his WBC Silver title with a defeat of Nathanael Kokololo at the Copper Box Arena.

Sheeraz, who was in control of proceedings with his jab, stiffened up the shot in the second round and wobbled Torres, who was very unsteady on his feet. Another left at the beginning of the third put Torres down but he then responded with a heavy right that floored Sheeraz for the first time.

Sheeraz then set up a big right that smashed into the jaw of Torres and knocked him down again and an unlikely slugfest was developing.

In the end it was a full-blooded right-hander smashed into the head of Torres that ended the fight, with the Argentinean slow to rise and respond, so referee Mark Lyson waved it off in round five after 1.56.

Dennis McCann stopped James Beech jr in the eighth round of a pulsating encounter that takes the Maidstone youngster to 13-0.

The towel was thrown in round after 1.44 following an impressive display of McCann at his spiteful best.

Dennis went into full Menace mode right from the off it was three minutes of savagery from the 21-year-old, who put Beech down in a flurry of shots midway through the round.

Beech jr came to fight, make no mistake, but his timing was off early on and he left himself exposed to rapid counters. The pace dropped a little in the second as Beech regrouped but he absorbed some punishing shots from McCann in the third.

Beech then enjoyed some minor successes, but the spiteful McCann offered him little respite and the Bloxwich fighter was struggling to keep him off and it wasn’t long before a few party tricks came out to play.

Beech rallied but was chopped down by a vicious right that put him to the canvas before another assault led to the towel being thrown in and McCann jumping for joy over becoming WBC International Silver featherweight champion.

In a fight not to be forgotten, Mark Heffron defeated Lennox Clarke to become British, Commonwealth and IBF Intercontinental super middleweight champion.

A stunning first round saw Clarke push Heffron over, which sparked the Oldham man into action and Clarke was floundering for much of the remainder of the round as Heffron landed bomb after bomb on a shellshocked champion.

The second round evened up with Clarke winging in some big shots on Heffron, but the 30-year-old in his third challenge for the British, employed some stealthy footwork and jabbed more effectively. An uppercut wobbled Clarke in the third as the ferocious exchanges continued.

Clarke established something a foothold in the fourth but, again, it was Heffron who landed the cleaner, more telling shots and the Birmingham man was showing remarkable resilience to hang in there.

The Heffron pressure cranked up in the fifth and Clarke appeared to be in retreat and in some sort of trouble. Referee Bob Williams decided he had seen enough and Heffron finally has a British title to take home.

The official time of the stoppage was 2.28 of round five.

Nick Ball had a tall order in front of him in the shape of Nathanael Kokololo, who enjoyed a significant height and reach advantage. Ball soon had him rattled by stooping low and ripping up shots towards the jaw of the Namibian.

Ball was making a first defence of the WBC Silver featherweight title.

Against such physical threats, the Liverpool lad had to be on his guard and not get caught by anything in trying to get up close. He had to work around the Kokololo jab and wasn’t able to be as typically relentless as he normally is against shorter opponents.

Ball landed some good shots at the end of both rounds three and four, but Kokololo remained a confident operator and Ball started to be bloodied around nose. The target was being found with increased frequency but a worrying mark formed under Ball’s left eye that became more evident as the fifth round drew to a close.

Kokololo opened up in the seventh in an attempt to pick up some momentum but Ball stayed in charge and was controlling the rounds. Kokololo was rocked in the ninth as Ball started looking for a big finish, but he survived to fight another round.

Ball launched the heavy artillery in the final round and finally got his man when Kokololo was caught and, for once, didn’t respond. Referee John Latham was quick to rescue him and Ball is now 16-0 and one of the best young champions in the country.

Unbeaten super bantam Masood Abdulah was given a good run for his money over eight rounds by the young Bulgarian Tank Banabakov, who largely gave as good as he got until the final two rounds when the pressure was increased and Banabakov’s work got a little ragged. Referee Bob Williams scored the contest 77-75 and Islington’s Abdulah is now 5-0 and taken the distance for the first time.

The Big Bang is back in business in a big way. New Queensberry signing Pierce O’Leary pulverised his opponent Robin Zamora with a beast of a right hand in the second round that left the Nicaraguan with his senses scrambled and referee Sean McAvoy rightly jumped in to stop him coming under further attack. The stoppage came after 2.03 of the third round in a fight that was nip and tuck until the fight-changing shot that takes O’Leary to 10-0.

Karol Itauma took his professional tally to 8-0 with a convincing win over Michal Gazdik, who he dominated from start to finish and referee John Latham had seen enough after 50 seconds of round four and stepped in to protect Gazdik.

Ryan Garner has reached a dozen fights unbeaten as a pro after outworking the game Christian Lopez Florez over eight rounds. Garner is now due a title fight to launch the next phase of his career.

Referee Sean McAvoy scored the fight 80-72.

After teeing off on his stubborn opponent, Garner found a rhythm in round five, keeping a bit more distance and working smartly up and down. He was still having to chase Florez, but was able to tease a little more return fire from the Mexican that created some openings.

Garner showed that he has plenty in the tank over the longer distance and maintained a high tempo to his work throughout. If he was guilty of any miscalculation, it was possibly trying too hard to blast his man out early out via a spectacular KO. However, he was up against a man on the run with a high and effective guard.

On his second appearance at the Copper Box, Khalid Ali once again brought the fireworks and set about Des Newton right from the off. Newton didn’t look like he would last the course and a big left from Ali led to a mighty onslaught from the Brick Lane boy, that left Newton in a heap having taken a few more punches than he perhaps should have.

The official time of the stoppage by Bob Williams – who ushered a concerned doctor out of the ring – was 54 second of round two.

Umar Khan survived a second round scare when a short right from Engel Gomez sent him momentarily to the canvas. The Ilford youngster recovered well and fought with some style and conviction to ride out the mini-storm and take control of the fight.

In his first six rounder, Khan was scored the victor by a margin of 58-56 on the card of John Latham. Khan is now 4-0.

Super lightweight Sonny Liston Ali moved to 4-0 as a pro following a convincing points victory over Chris Adaway. Referee Sean McCoy scored the fight 60-55.

In the opener for the night, Sean Noakes marked his second professional fight at welterweight with a second round stoppage of MJ Hall.

Hall took a huge right that rocked him earlier in the round and Noakes smelt a potential stoppage and a barrage that included a sweetly struck uppercut saw to it that Bob Williams had seen enough. The referee waved off the fight 2.45 of round two.

Ryan Garcia stopped former world champion Javier Fortuna in round six of a scheduled 12-round junior welterweight bout at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

In round four, Garcia dropped Fortuna with a left to the body. In round five, it was another hook to the body that put Fortuna down again. In round six, Garcia ended it with….you guessed it, another left hook but this was to the side of the head and the fight was stopped at 1:27.

Garcia, 140 lbs of Victorville, CA is now 24-0 with 19 knockouts. Fortuna, 139.8 lbs of Lo Romana, CA is 37-4-1.

“I want to thank God first and foremost,” said Ryan Garcia. “I know that I performed well for myself. I was crisp, sharp and I stayed in my truth. I didn’t do anything crazy. I know how good of a fighter I am, I just had to put it all together, just like tonight. Fortuna hit hard, he has a hard fist. Like I said when I fight stronger opponents, I box better. Yes, I caught him with a body shot. He thought I was going for the head but I switched it on him. I felt he was going to throw the Luke Campbell shot [the shot that dropped Ryan against Campbell]. I feel like everyone is going to try to hit me with that shot. I hit hard so it doesn’t take much to hurt someone.”

“It felt like [I made] a statement to come back to the timeline I was at. Mental health is a time to reflect on yourself and get better for the future. That’s not weakness, that’s strength! That’s courage! You saw me today when I stepped in the ring. That’s nothing but courage and skill.”

“I felt way better at this weight. I’m not going down to 135 for nothing. But I will fight Tank next if he wants it at 140. I’ll make sure to record all the negotiations so you can’t say I was ducking. I want that fight because it’s going to give me the respect I deserve. I’m never afraid. I have a spirit of competition in me and you’re going to see that come out when I fight Tank and whoop his ass.”

Rocha Decisions Veron

Alexis Rocha won a 10-round unanimous decision over Luis Veron in a welterweight bout.

Rocha landed 171 of 620 punches; Veron was 72 of 313.

Rocha, 146.8 lbs of Santa Ana, CA won by scores of 100-90 twice and 99-91 and is now 20-1. Veron, 146 lbs of Buenos Aries, ARG is 19-5-2.

“My strategy for this fight was to go in there and break him down,” said Alexis Rocha. “I knew he was going to be a durable fighter; he gets hit and stays there. Once that happened in the fight I knew he was just going to survive. Training is always great with my team, they’re always pushing me. I went there with a game plan and I followed it the best I could. It feels good fighting in front of a big crowd here at the Crypto Arena. Having my Santa Ana crowd behind me, it made me feel good. Onto the next level now.”

Roach Jr. Decisions Rodriguez

Former world title challenger Lamont Roach Jr. scored a 12-round unanimous decision over Angel Rodriguez in a super featherweight bout.

Roach landed 241 of 580 punches; Rodriguez was 120 of 502.

Roach, 129.8 lbs of Washington, DC won by scores of 117-111 and 116-112 twice and is now 23-1-1. Rodriguez, 129.2 lbs o Barranquilla, COL is 20-2.

“My strategy was to stay tight and keep the pressure on him,” said Lamont Roach Jr.  “We knew it would break him down. He was a tall and lanky fighter so we were watching out for the looping shots. He had a nice 1-2, the ones that landed I let him. He was really good defensively, but if we would’ve kept the punch output higher I would have stopped him. He was very evasive.”

“He’s an amazing fighter, extremely intelligent,” said Angel Rodriguez. “He knows how to work his rival and always keep his composure even when getting hit. In these events it’s them who decide who wins and as an athlete I’d fight him again. We tried to win but he simply came with better preparation and strategy, that’s why he took the victory.”

Jimenez Decisions Sandoval

David Jimenez scored an upset by winning a 12-round majority decision over Ricardo Sandoval in a flyweight bout.

In round seven, Jimenez was deducted a point for holding. In round two, Jimenez dropped Sandoval with a short right hook.

Sandoval landed 249 of 712 punches; Jimenez was 163 off 599, but the knockdown seemed to be the difference in the outcome.

Jimenez, 111.2 lbs of Cartago, CRI won by scores of 114-112 twice and 113-113 is now 12-0. Sandoval, 111.8 lbs of Rosito, CA is 20-2.

“I’m happy and grateful for this new victory,” said David Jimenez.  “We executed our game plan perfectly. In the first 6 rounds it was a lot of movement and aiming. After the 6th round I started to take advantage. My rival was very tough and stubborn. He has a lot ahead of him. I’m going to go home after this victory and spend time with my family then get back into the gym.”

“I felt like I was boxing him correctly so I feel very good,” said Ricardo Sandoval.  “I was also countering him downstairs and upstairs. But you know these things happen. I felt like I won the fight. The people won tonight and got one hell of a fight.”

Omar Collazo won a 12-round unanimous decision over Victorio Saludar in a WBA Minimumweight Elimination bout.

In round seven, each scored knockdowns. Collazo dropped Saludar with a body shot. Saludar answered back by dropping Collazo with an uppercut.

Collazo, 105 lbs of Villalba, PR won by scores of 118-110 and 116-112 twice and is now 5-0. Saludar, 104,2 lbs of Misamia, PHL is 21-6.

“It was a tough fight. I had to use my whole toolbox,” said Oscar Collazo. “My opponent was powerful and experienced; he’s a veteran in the sport. But, thanks to my corner, I got in the ring and fought round by round. A world championship is next. I want to be a champion.”

Diego De La Hoya stopped Enrique Bernache in round four of their 10-round featherweight fight.

De La Hoya dominated the action and in round four, landed a barrage of punches in the corner that forced a referee stoppage at 2:51.

De La Hoya, 126 lbs of Mexicali, MEX is now 23-1 with 11 knockouts. Bernahce, 125.2 lbs of Guadalajara, MEX is 24-14.

In round one, Gaona dropped Padilla with a body shot. Seconds later it was another body shot that put Padilla down again for the 10-count at 1:25.

Michael Eifert won a 10-round unanimous decision over Adriano Sperandio in a light heavyweight bout in Magdeburg, Germany

Paul Wall stopped Nikolas Dzurnak at the end of round one of their four-round super welterweight fight.

In round one, Wall dropped Dzurnak with a body shot. Dzurnak got to his feet to end the round, but the fight was stopped in the corner.

Arnold Barboza Jr. remained undefeated with a 10-round unanimous decision over Danielito Zorrilla in a battle of undefeated junior welterweights at The Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California.

It was an exciting fight that saw Barboza box well over the balance of the fight. Zorrilla was dangerous by landing some solid power shots. With Barboza well ahead in the final round, Zorrilla was able to land several big power shots which gave Barboza a few anxious moments down the stretch. He was able to get out of the round and win by scores of 98-92 and 97-93 twice.

Barboza landed 171 of 600 punches; Zorrilla 66 of 352.

Randall was a standout USA amateur boxer who captured a gold medal at the prestigious 2016 USA Nationals, silver at the 2017 USA Nationals and 2017 Pan American Games, and he reached the quarterfinals of the 2017 World Championships.

Hometown hero Andrew “White Lightning” Murphy (6-0, 4 KOs), who is trained by Hall of Famer Roy Jones, Jr., returned to fight in the Northwest for the first time as a professional, defeating Isiah Jones (9-7, 3 KOs) by way of a one-sided 8-round unanimous decision to capture the vacant NBA Americas super middleweight title. Murphy relocated to Pensacola, Florida, in order to be trained by Jones.

Super lightweight William Hernandez (9-2, 5 KOs) pitched a near shutout, winning all eight rounds on two of the judges’ scorecards, against Washington intra-state rival Margarito Hernandez (2-3-1).

In the RJJ Boxing on UFC Opener, super middleweight Alarenz Reynolds (2-1) won a 6-round decision over Joseph Aguilar (2-1-1, 1 KOs).

Sampson Boxing proudly announces the signing of undefeated featherweight prospect and former Olympian Mirco Cuello of Santa Fe, Argentina, to a promotional contract.

The most decorated Argentinean amateur boxer of his generation, 21-year-old Cuello, won countless international elite championships during his 105-fight career in the unpaid ranks, before turning professional shortly after competing at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.

As a professional, the power-punching Cuello (8-0, 7 KOs) was last seen picking up the WBA International Featherweight Championship last June by dropping and stopping Venezuela’s Leonardo Padilla in two rounds at the WBAKODrugs event.

“It’s a pleasure for me and my team to sign with Sampson Lewkowicz, a recognized promoter who can help me better develop my boxing and be the next world champion for Argentina,” said a happy Cuello after signing.

Cuello’s team consists of his father, Darío Cuello, as well as Mariano Carrera and Physical Trainer Ruperto Ruiz. He is managed by well-known boxing figure Gardner Payne of Payne Boxing.

New promoter Lewkowicz says he’s happy to be joining forces again with Gardner Payne and Team Cuello.

“Mirco Cuello will be a great champion from Argentina,” said Lewkowicz. “He has the right schooling in the amateurs to become a contender very quickly. Marquez of Imperial Valley, California has a very respectable record of 14-4-1 with 10 knockouts.

Marquez, 28, is a seven year pro, has wins over Oswaldo Ortega (1-0) & Daniel Arambuka (3-0). Marquez has won six-straight fights. In his latest outing, Marquez stopped Ernesto Zamora in the second round on October 2, 2021 in Sonora, Mexico.

TULSA, OK (July 14, 2022) — Two former world champions are set for an Oklahoma showdown, as Jose “Sniper” Pedraza will battle Richard “RC” Commey in the 10-round junior welterweight main event Saturday, Aug. 27, at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa.

In the 10-round heavyweight co-feature, the fighting pride of Toledo, Ohio, undefeated puncher Jared “The Real Big Baby” Anderson, returns to action against veteran Miljan Rovcanin.

Promoted by Top Rank, in association with DiBella Entertainment, Pedraza-Commey and Anderson-Rovcanin will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT.

“The junior welterweight division is talent-rich, and the winner of Pedraza-Commey is in line for a massive fight,” said Top Rank chairman Bob Arum. “We are thrilled to see Jared Anderson back in action. Pedraza (29-4, 14 KOs), from Cidra, Puerto Rico, is a two-weight world champion who has fought many of this generation’s top fighters since capturing the IBF junior lightweight crown in June 2015. He moved up to the junior welterweight ranks in 2019, rebounding from a loss to Jose Zepeda to author victories over Mikkel LesPierre, 2008 U.S. Olympian Javier Molina, and the previously unbeaten Julian Rodriguez. Pedraza’s momentum was halted in March when he dropped a tightly contested decision to former unified world champion Jose Ramirez.

Pedraza said, “August 27 will definitely be a high-stakes battle between two world-class fighters. We are both coming to get back on the winning path. That’s the perfect recipe for a great fight. I know that a convincing victory against an opponent of Commey’s caliber will put me back in contention to capture that coveted world title opportunity. Despite what happened in my last fight, I still have my sights set on being crowned world champion at 140 pounds. I’m still chasing my goal of becoming a three-division world champion.”

Commey (30-4, 27 KOs), one of Ghana’s most accomplished fighters, captured the IBF lightweight world title in February 2019 with a second-round stoppage over Isa Chaniev. Since losing his title to Teofimo Lopez that December, Commey knocked out Jackson Marinez in six rounds and lost a decision to pound-for-pound legend Vasiliy “Loma” Lomachenko. After 34 fights campaigning as a lightweight, Commey now moves up to 140 pounds in hopes of winning a second world title.

“I am grateful to DiBella Entertainment and Top Rank to be fighting on ESPN as I begin my quest to become a two-weight world champion,” Commey said. “Pedraza is a gentleman and a great champion, and I will have to be at my best to earn the victory.”

Anderson (11-0, 11 KOs) had a breakthrough 2021, securing four devastating knockouts culminating in December’s second-round blitzing of Oleksandr Teslenko. He suffered a hand injury in training, which postponed his 2022 debut. Anderson, a 6’4, 240-pound former U.S. amateur champion, hopes to continue his knockout momentum against Rovcanin (24-2, 16 KOs). The Serbian veteran has won five consecutive bouts since a stoppage loss to undefeated contender Agit Kabayel.

Anderson said, “I am 100 percent healthy and more than ready to get back in the ring. I’m creating a legacy for my last name and growing as a fighter with every fight. Tune in on August 27 because ‘The Real Big Baby’ is back!”

The undercard — streaming exclusively on ESPN+ — is scheduled to include the return of heavyweight puncher Efe Ajagba (15-1, 12 KOs) in an eight-rounder against Hungary’s Jozsef Darmos (14-4-3, 10 KOs). Ajagba, a 2016 Nigerian Olympian, has not fought since last October’s defeat to Cuban star Frank Sanchez on the Tyson Fury-Deontay Wilder III undercard. Injuries delayed Ajagba’s return, and he’s looking to reclaim his status as one of the division’s rising talents.

In other undercard action:

• Tokyo 2020 U.S. Olympian Tiger Johnson (4-0, 3 KOs), from Cleveland, Ohio, steps up in class against Harry Gigliotti (8-3, 3 KOs) in a six-round junior welterweight scrap. THE 14-0 CRUISERWEIGHT star and Boxxer Tournament winner Ellis Zorro has signed a promotional agreement with Frank Warren and Queensberry.

The 29-year-old is trained and managed by Martin Bowers from the Peacock Gym in Epping alongside now promotional teammates Denzel Bentley, Chris Bourke and Louie Lynn.

A jeweller by trade, Zorro entered the tournament staged in May up in Manchester and cruised to success, beating James Farrell, Jamie Smith and Ricky Reeves via unanimous decisions.

He now becomes the most experienced member of the Queensberry cruiserweights, which includes Arnold Obodai, Aloys Junior and Natty Ngwenya.

Zorro believes his tournament triumph paved the way for a union with the Hall of Fame promoter.

“That is the benefit of these tournaments,” Zorro considered. “Sky were hosting it but, going forward, Frank is going to be taking care of my career anyway. It is all good.

“I went in to see Frank and he congratulated me on my performance in the tournament and offered me a contract going forward. Frank will be handling my career and I am over the moon with that.

“When I came here to the Peacock at 9-0 it was what I wanted to happen kind of straight away but obviously you’ve got to, not so much prove yourself to Frank, but now I have got something he can sell. The punching jeweller Zorro was fittingly fitted out in a golden robe after winning the final and it was a competition he was convinced all along he would emerge victorious.

“I was super, super confident. I knew that with the sparring I had been getting with the likes of Dan Azeez who, even though he is a light heavyweight, is really, really strong. I had Craig Richards, I had Denzel for his experience, even though he is a bit lighter. Then I had sparring against heavyweights, so I just feel I ticked every box.

“At the time I was 11-0 and I didn’t have a contract with anybody. I wasn’t stagnant, but I’d just had two fights with Martin since being at the Peacock and one of them was a rematch against Ossie Jervier.

“I was kind of struggling with some direction but now, in the space of one weekend, it accelerated everything for me.

“It feels like it was meant to be and, as Martin is always saying, everybody gets a chance in boxing, you just have to be patient and be ready. When the call came, we were ready.”

Frank Warren added on his cruiserweight recruit: “I am delighted to sign Ellis and he was clearly the class act of the tournament. Uncasville, CT – CES Boxing returns to Mohegan Sun Arena for the first time in nearly seven years Saturday, August 20 with Summer Heat, the latest installment of its 2022 Fight Series featuring two of the sport’s hardest-hitting heavyweight prospects.

CES’ newest acquisition, 6-foot-6 right-hander Cassius Chaney of New London, CT, and 6-4 Carini, Sicily, native Juiseppe Cusumano headline Summer Heat in separate bouts. The two CES stablemates have combined for 41 wins and 32 knockouts in nearly two decades as pros and find themselves firmly entrenched among the nation’s top 20 heavyweights with an opportunity to inch closer to the dream of competing for a world title.

August 20 marks CES’ first show at Mohegan Sun Arena since October of 2015, renewing a long-standing partnership between the region’s top combat sports promotion and one of the world’s foremost entertainment venues.

In addition to the highly-anticipated heavyweight showcase, Summer Heat features the long-awaited return of New London female featherweight icon Shelly Vincent, undefeated Irish super middleweight Francis Hogan of Weymouth, MA; and fast-rising bantamweight prospect Angel Gonzalez of Hartford, CT.

Hogan (11-0, 10 KOs), another recent addition to the CES roster and a member of the Iron Workers Local 7 union, returns after cruising to a unanimous decision win over Rodrigo Lopes Rodrigues in June. The undefeated Gonzalez (10-0, 6 KOs) aims for his fourth win of the year in as many tries, which includes a hard-fought victory over Ira Terry at CES’ April 2 showcase in Connecticut. Chaney (21-1, 14 KOs) returns to his home state August 20 after signing a promotional agreement with New England’s top promotion, joining forces with promoter Jimmy Burchfield Sr. Born in Baltimore, Chaney relocated to Connecticut as a youth and initially put his talents to use on the basketball court at the University of New Haven.

Working with renowned trainer Stephen “Breadman” Edwards, Chaney climbed the ladder quickly among heavyweights after making his pro debut at the age of 28, winning his first 21 fights. In 2019, he made headlines on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights with a sensational win over Joel Caudle, knocking his opponent out of the ring in the first round of their scheduled eight-round showdown. Later that year, he captured the vacant WBC USNBC Silver heavyweight title with a knockout win over Nick Jones.

With the burning desire to win a world title, Chaney kept busy during the pandemic, too, scoring two more knockouts in 2020 and opening 2021 with a knockout win over 18-fight veteran Shawndell Terell Winters in Worcester. In his most recent fight in December, Chaney fought 10 hard rounds with fellow unbeaten heavyweight George Arias in New York City.

His new teammate, Cusumano (20-4, 18 KOs), is on a similar path. The heavy-handed Sicilian bounced back in June with a first-round knockout win over Irineu Costa Junior in Rhode Island, earning career win No. 20 and his 10th overall under CES’ guidance since signing with Burchfield in 2017. Cusumano has stopped his opponent in each of his last 14 wins dating back to 2014 and remains on the sport’s hardest punchers in the heavyweight division.

Vincent’s return to the ring brings additional star power to Summer Heat. The 43-year-old trailblazer and former world-title contender boasts a 27-2 record, two nationally-televised showdowns against rival Heather Hardy, and a UBF world super bantamweight championship. A fixture on the regional circuit for more than a decade, Vincent is unbeaten with CES in 17 fights, including her most recent win in November over veteran Shelly Barnett.

(July 13, 2022) — Light heavyweight contenders Michael Eifert and Adriano Sperandio will face off for the vacant IBF Intercontinental strap this Saturday, July 16, in the 10-round main event at the Maritim Hotel in Magdeburg, Germany. Undefeated Top Rank-signed junior welterweight prospect Hugo Micallef, “The Fresh Prince of Monaco,” returns in a six-rounder versus Mauro Loli.

Eifert-Sperandio, Micallef-Loli, and additional fight action will stream live and exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+ starting at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT.

Eifert (10-1, 4 KOs), a 24-year-old German, turned pro in 2018 and won the first six fights of his career before dropping a majority decision to Tom Dzemski in August 2020. Nearly one year later, he turned the tables, edging Dzemski by majority decision to win the WBC and IBF youth titles. Eifert has won two fights by knockout since then, including a third-round stoppage over the previously undefeated Nils Schmidt. Sperandio (14-1, 2 KOs), from Rome, Italy, has won three straight fights since the lone loss on his ledger.

Micallef (2-0) signed with Top Rank last year and is currently the only active boxer from the Principality of Monaco. The Monte Carlo-born Micallef is one of his nation’s most popular homegrown athletes and has the support of many of Monaco’s luminaries, including F1 star Charles Leclerc. Micallef has won bouts in France and Spain since turning pro and steps up against Loli (7-3, 3 KOs), an Italian veteran who has never been stopped as a pro.
