Undefeated Irish Welterweight Sensation Paddy Donovan to be Showcased on Cameron-Taylor II PPV card

NEW YORK (November 13, 2023) – Undefeated Irish welterweight sensation Paddy “The Real Deal” Donovan (11-0, 8 KOs) will fight for his first title as a professional on November 25th against BBB of C English welterweight champion Danny Ball (13-1-1, 6 KOs) in a 10-round bout for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental Welterweight Championship.

Donovan, 24, will be showcased on the undisputed world super lightweight champion Chantelle Cameron (18-0) vs Katie Taylor (21-1) rematch, streaming on DAZN PPV live from 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.

“If I win this fight,” Donovan said, “I will win the WBA Continental title and be ranked No. 15 by the WBA. I’d like to defend that title a few times and get a world title shot by the end of next year or early 2025.

“I know Katie Taylor extremely well; I was her sparring partner when I was 15. She’s one of the nicest people, not just in boxing, I’ve ever met. She’s never forgotten my name. She’s even come to train with me and Andy in Dublin a few times before fights.”

Fighting out of Limerick, Ireland, Donovan is trained in Dublin by former World Boxing Organization (WBO) World Middleweight Champion “Irish” Andy Lee (35-3-1, 24 KOs), whose cousin is unbeaten lineal and reigning World Boxing Council (WBA) World Heavyweight Champion Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs).

Because of his relationship with Lee, Donovan has benefited from training with Fury and “The Gypsy King” is mighty high on his fellow Irish Traveller, Paddy.

“I think Paddy Donovan is one of the stars of the future,” Fury told the Irish Mirror. “He’s definitely the biggest prospect in Irish boxing at the moment. He’s a very, very talented young fighter and he’s had a lot of amateur experience. “He can punch hard, and he has got the boxing IQ, He’s had great tutelage with my cousin, Andy Lee. I think he’s going all the way, Paddy!”

“It meant so much to me when Tyson said that I’m going to be a world champion,” Donovan added. “They call him “The Gypsy King” and in Ireland, they call me “The Gypsy Prince.”

Donovan, who was born in Ennis in County Clare, is a slick southpaw with dynamite in both hands, who represented Ireland at the 2016 World Youth Championships in St. Petersburg, Russia. As an amateur (65-12), Donovan was a two-time Irish National Champion, as well as the 2017 International Tournament, Haringey Youth gold medalist in London.

In 2019, Donovan turned pro, stopping Arturo Lopez in the opening round of their clash in Belfast, Northern Ireland, which was scheduled for six rounds. Paddy’s last action was this past May, in which he knocked out 17-4-1 Sam O’Maison in round eight.

Already ranked No. 30 by the European Boxing Union, Donovan’s fight versus Ball, a former World Boxing Council (WBC) International Welterweight Champion, will be Paddy’s first scheduled 10-rounder.

“My opponent is a hard hitter who is the English champion,” Donovan added. “He’s won his last three fights in a row. I’ll open boxing, coming forward counter-punching, and then get the knockout.”

New York City-based attorney Keith Sullivan, known for his work in boxing as a lawyer, represented Lee and the two co-manage Donovan.

“I think Paddy has all the tools to be world champion,” Sullivan said. “all he really needs is time, top-level experience and opportunities. It’s great working again with Andy Lee, who has developed into a first-class boxing trainer. His boxing experience is helpful for a young boxer like Paddy.”

Donovan is a proponent of suicide prevention and mental health awareness. He is using this fight platform to promote Pieta, which is a suicide prevention charity providing mental health services throughout Ireland. Paddy has lost two relatives to suicide, and he has dedicated his upcoming fight to mental health awareness. Lee and Sullivan have also felt the pain of suicide by close relations. The Pietra Crisis Helpline, 1-800-247-247, offers crisis intervention support, 24 hours a day 365 days a year, to anyone experiencing suicidal thoughts or engaging in self-harm and also supports those bereaved through suicide.

Top Rank Presents World Championship Doubleheader: Shakur Stevenson vs. Edwin De Los Santos and Emanuel Navarrete vs. Robson Conceição

Top Rank presented by AutoZone: Stevenson vs. De Los Santos will be presented live this Thursday, November 16, at 10:30 p.m. ET/ 7:30 p.m. PT, on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+ from T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada.

In the main event, Shakur Stevenson will attempt to become a three-weight world champion when he takes on Dominican puncher Edwin De Los Santos for the vacant WBC lightweight world title.

Stevenson (20-0, 10 KOs), from Newark, New Jersey, earned a silver medal at the 2016 Olympics and debuted as pro in 2017. He won titles in two divisions in his first five years in the paid ranks. In 2019 he toppled Joet Gonzalez to win the vacant WBO featherweight world championship. From there, he captured the WBO junior lightweight title in 2021 and went on to add the WBC strap to his collection in 2022 with a 12-round decision over Oscar Valdez.

De Los Santos (16-1, 14 KOs) is a hard-hitting southpaw from the Dominican Republic. He debuted in 2018 and notched his first 13 victories in his home country. In his U.S. debut, he suffered a razor-thin split decision loss to William Foster III. He hasn’t lost a fight since. This will be De Los Santos’ first shot at a world title.

In the world championship co-feature, Mexico’s Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete defends his WBO junior lightweight strap against Brazilian two-time world title challenger Robson Conceição.

Navarrete (38-1, 31 KOs) captured his first world title by defeating Isaac Dogboe for the WBO junior featherweight crown in December 2018. In February, Navarrete became a three-division champion by defeating Liam Wilson via ninth-round TKO for the WBO junior lightweight world title. Navarrete looks to make the second defense of his strap as the possibility of a title opportunity in a fourth weight division emerges on the horizon.

Conceição (17-2, 8 KOs) made history as Brazil’s first Olympic boxing gold medalist, turning pro under the Top Rank banner less than three months after the 2016 Rio Games. He’s made two valiant attempts at a world title, one in 2021 against Oscar Valdez and another in 2022 against Shakur Stevenson. Conceição will now get a third opportunity to call himself a world champion in the pro ranks.

The undercard, featuring a battle between unbeaten welterweights as well as a host of emerging prospects, streams exclusively on ESPN+ at 5:40 p.m. ET / 2:40 p.m. PT.

JERMALL CHARLO TRAINING CAMP QUOTES

HOUSTON – November 13, 2023 – Undefeated WBC Middleweight World Champion Jermall Charlo discussed training camp and more ahead of his showdown against exciting contender Jose Benavidez Jr., which serves as the SHOWTIME PPV co-main event on Saturday, November 25 in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

Charlo will take on Benavidez in a 10-round non-title WBC special event as he looks to end an over two-year layoff with an emphatic victory.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions and Sampson Boxing, are on sale now and available at AXS.com.

Here is what Charlo and his trainer Ronnie Shields had to say from training camp in Charlo’s hometown of Houston:

JERMALL CHARLO

“I’m excited to be back – back where I belong. I’m really re-learning boxing, like in the amateurs all over again. I feel new to it. It’s a thrill at the same time. I’m putting my life on the line once again, to shock the world and let people know that I’m on top.

“A lot of people consider mental health when can’t stabilize your mind and think forward. And that’s kind of where I was at. I was in a place of not being able to explain it to anyone and kind of always shielded it and I had to fight through that through my learning experiences. The main thing I’ve learned this whole time is patience. I got ready on my own terms. I’m back in the ring on my own terms. I feel better at my own pace and I’m going to go in and face my battles on my own timing.

“Benavidez is just one of those guys who has to make a name for himself. Of course, talking s— to me would be the best thing you can do because you’re only amping the fight up. I mean, I guess he is trying to sell the fight, but I’m taking it personal and I’m taking it seriously. I’m not taking his words lightly.

“He wants to fight me I guess in revenge for his brother. There’s a lot of brother-brother stuff going on, you know, the Charlo brothers and the Benavidez brothers. So it’s the battle of the brothers and if you want this to be your biggest rival, let’s do it. I’m coming back after two years, no excuses. I’m here to fight.

“I don’t have respect for him. I have respect for myself to go out there and dictate the fight, be patient. Of course, if I hit him flush, I’ll knock him cold out. Walking all over him, AI (Allen Iverson) s—. I’m going crazy. I’m just trying not to let the excitement overpower me.

“I actually want to be more active next year, take on two or three fights. I’m ready to stay in the gym and stay focused and hopefully I can land one of those big fights you want to see. Maybe the winner out of the main event or maybe Canelo, YouTubers coming up. You know, I really don’t care. I just want to fight.”

RONNIE SHIELDS, CHARLO’S TRAINER

“I think Jermall Charlo is back. He’s back to where he was two years ago. His attitude is great and he’s really looking forward to training every day.

“Ring rust is ring rust, but this is why we train every day, to get the rust off. I mean, I wish the fight was tomorrow because he’s ready to go.

“I think Jose Jr. brings a lot, especially with his attitude, which is ferocious and that’s a good attitude to have I guess in this business. You know, look, Jose is like his brother David. They are both good fighters and you can say they train hard, and they come to fight. And that’s a good thing. But you know what, we’re looking for a fight.

“I’ve been dissecting everything, absolutely. I know everything about Jose and what we can exploit and everything that I see that he does that I think can work in our favor. So we’re definitely looking at everything. In the end, I think Jermall is going to be too strong.

“Jermall is like a son to me. He’s in a great place right now. He’s with his wife and his kids and really enjoying everything right now. I think it’s that frame of mind that it takes for him to succeed. Now that he has that back and he’s so happy and joyful about everything little thing, that’s a great place for him to be.

“I think Jose Benavidez Jr. is going to come out fast, like he always does and he’s going to try and put on a lot of pressure on ’Mall and try to hit him with things we don’t normally get hit with. But whatever he brings, we got something for him. I think ’Mall’s power is special and we’re going to keep backing him up with the power.”

AKHMADLIEV IN WORLD TITLE ELIMINATOR AS FOUR MORE BRITS HEAD TO ARIZONA

Murodjon Akhmadaliev will face Kevin Gonzalez in an eliminator for the WBA World Super-Bantamweight title as the chief support bout to the Flyweight unification blockbuster between Jesse Rodriguez and Sunny Edwards at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona on Saturday December 16, live worldwide on DAZN – with Edwards being joined by four fellow British talents on the card.

Akhmadaliev (11-1 8 KOs) is gunning to get a shot at winning the WBA title back after the former unified king surrendered the crown along with the IBF strap via a majority decision loss against Marlon Tapales in San Antonio in April. The Uzbek star ripped the belts from Daniel Roman in February 2020 in Miami and successfully defended them three times before the reversal against Tapales, and now the 29 year old will be looking to take a massive step towards gaining one of his old titles back early in 2024 with victory.

Gonzalez (26-0-1 13 KOs) will have other ideas though and can catapult himself into the big leagues by handing Akhmadaliev back-to-back defeats. The Mexican, who sits at #2 in the WBA rankings behind the Uzbek, was last in action in March where he defeated Jose Sanmartin in Las Vegas. The unbeaten 25 year old tastes action in the States for the third straight fight having beaten Emanuel Rivera Nieves in California in May 2022, and fights over 12 rounds for the first time in the biggest fight of his career to date.

“I am excited to return to the ring,” said Akhmadaliev. “No matter what happened in the last fight, my goal is to fight for justice and to return what is mine.”

“I feel very happy and optimistic with the opportunity that has been given to me,” said Gonzalez. “I will have a very difficult fight, probably the toughest fight of my life. Akhmadaliev is a former unified World champion, who not only has had a very successful professional career, but has a great amateur record as well. While I believe he is a very tough fighter, I also believe boxing is a sport of timing and moments, and this is my moment.

“I will make the most out of this moment so everyone can see that Mexico has a great product. I don’t see myself losing. Failure is not an option. This will be a very tough fight and I am preparing accordingly, both physically and mentally. This fight will be a crowd-pleasing fight. I’m prepared to go through hell and I am ready for a war. I want to thank Matchroom, my promoter Juan Iván Orengo and Fresh Productions for always looking after me and getting me the best fights, and my manager Jacob Najar for always having my back.

“Since day one my manager always told me that someday I would fight for a World title and that time is approaching. He also told me that I would fight in big stages. Now, I have the opportunity to fight in a card promoted by the biggest promoter in the world. I will make the best of my chance under the lights and the cameras. It is my moment and, come December 16, the world will know who Kevin “El Chacal” González is: a full Gallo from Mexico.”

The main event stars unbeaten British World ruler Edwards, and four more Brits cross the pond to end their 2023 in the US. Galal Yafai will be hoping to get his job done and take his seat for the main event, and it is a second outing in America as he defends his WBC International Flyweight title against Rocco Santomauro. Yafai (5-0 4 KOs) won the title on debut in London in February 2022 and traveled to New York to make his first defense two months later. Last time out, Yafai destroyed Tommy Frank in a hometown Birmingham in August, and the Olympic gold medal man will look to close 2023 out in style against the experienced Californian Santomauro (22-2 6 KOs).

“I am looking forward to fighting on a great card in Arizona,” said Yafai. “The main event is one that I will be watching closely being in the same division as me – but I have work to do first, and all the focus is on doing a job on Santomauro.”

“I am grateful for this opportunity against a strong opponent like Yafai,” said Santomauro. “I am ready to show the world why I belong on the main stage.”

Peter McGrail fights in the States for the first time in the paid ranks, and fights for his first pro title as he takes on Ja’Rico O’Quinn for the WBA Continental Super-Bantamweight belt. McGrail (8-0 5 KOs) bagged a second wide points win of 2023 in his last action on his home patch in Liverpool last month, and now the 27 year old can cap his year by adding his first pro honors to his wealth of amateur titles with victory over Detroit’s O’Quinn (16-1-1 8 KOs).

“I am really buzzing for this one,” said McGrail. “I think the US fans are going to love my style of fighting. I can’t wait to get over there and show them what I’m about. Thank you to my team for keeping me active, I am ready to close the year in style and keep improving and impressing.”

“I told Eddie Hearn last summer when we were in Detroit that I want to fight for Matchroom,” said O’Quinn. “I’m about to give McGrail an American boxing lesson. He’s going to get schooled by the Great Lakes king.”

It’s a family affair for McGrail as he kicks off the main card on DAZN, after the Before the Bell action will be launched by his younger brother Joe McGrail (7-0 3 KOs), who fights for the eighth time in the pros against Brandon Rosales Marquez (6-5-2) over six rounds at Featherweight. The fifth Brit to step through the ropes on the night will be rising star Junaid Boston (7-0 6 KOs), with the Rotherham talent tackling unbeaten Detroit man Gordie Russ II (6-0 6 KOs) over eight rounds at Super-Welterweight.

Completing the line-up in Arizona and also starring in the Before the Bell portion of the card are Californian Arturo Popoca (11-0-1 7 KOs) who faces Carlos Mujica (8-3 3 KOs) over eight rounds at Super-Bantamweight and Albert Gonzalez (5-0 2 KOs) who takes on Robenilson Vieira de Jesus (5-1 1 KO) over six rounds at Featherweight.

U.S. Army Veteran Kevin “Big Gulp” Nagle Kicks-off Veterans Day Weekend with KO win

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (November 11, 2023) – It only seemed appropriate that a U.S. Army veteran, Kevin “Big Gulp” Nagle (4-0, 4 KOs), was the star of last night’s “Friday Fight Night” card, presented by Granite Chin Promotions (GCP) on Veterans Day eve, at Bridgewater Veterans Club in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

GCP partnered with the Bridgewater-based charitable organization, Fire For Effect Foundation, which honors and empower veterans, first responders and their families by providing essential resources, support and community-building initiatives that foster resilience, restore hope, and strengthen the fabric of our community. Go to www.ffefinc.org for more information.

Nagle, fighting out of Scituate, was deployed in Iraq and Kosovo. He is a disabled veteran who works at the VA Medical Center in Brockton (MA). Weighing in at nearly 300 pounds, he took advantage of his size and power advantages over the 213-pound Max DaSilva (0-2). Heading into the third round, Nagle’s cornerman, Steve Vukosa, instructed Nagle to put his three-punch combination together. “Big Gulp” did just that, hurting DaSilva with a right uppercut, followed by a left-right combination to close the show.

Coming off his first loss as a professional, Lynn (MA) super middleweight James “Pitbull” Perkins (13-1-1, 10 KOs) rebounded strongly against tough Saul “The Spider” Almeida Braga. Perkins dropped his opponent in the opening round, and it appeared that this fight wasn’t going to last long. Braga, who is a veteran MMA fighter, persevered and gave Perkins much needed rounds.

James Perkins (L) stayed in his opponent’s face for all six rounds

Like Perkins, New Hampshire middleweight Ryan Clark 2-6, 2 KOs) is a come forward, fan-friendly fighter. Last night his non-stop, aggressive style paid off as his contact pressure broke down a game Jay Gregory and closed the show in the third round when the referee halted the fight.

The most gifted boxer in action last night was undefeated Cuban lightweight Armando Rabi (10-0, 9 KOs), the 2015 Cuban National Champion, who faced battled-tested Brazilian Aldimar Silva (22-25, 14 KOs). After a few minutes of strategic maneuvering, Rabi fired a perfectly placed straight right that immediately dropped Silva, who had been laying on the ropes, unable to beat the count at the 2:46 mark of round one.

Revere super middleweight Travis Gambardella (8-2-2, 4 KOs) attacked journeyman Juan Celin Zapata from the opening bell, cracking Zapata with an overhand right last in the opening round that sent the Honduran to the canvas. The referee waved off the fight when Zapata reacted wobbly.

New Bedford super middleweight “Vicious” Anthony Vieira improved to 3-0 with his third knockout, dropping pro-debuting Milton Noleto three times. The first came in the opening round via a body shot. In the third and final round, the well-schooled Vieira sent his opponent sprawling from a punch Noleto felt was an illegal shot to the back of his head. Noleto never recovered and an overhand right to the head soon floored him again. At that point, the referee had seen enough and stopped the fight.

QUOTES – ‘KING’ CALLUM WALSH VICTORIOUS AT SOLD-OUT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN

New York, NY (November 9, 2023) In front of a sold-out crowd in The Theater at Madison Square Garden and a global broadcast audience on UFC FIGHT PASSThe Fastest Rising Star in Boxing‘King’ Callum Walsh, (9-0, 8 KOs), of Cork, Ireland shined brightly in a ten-round unanimous decision over Ismael Villarreal, (13-2, 9 KOs), of Bronx, New York.

The exciting seven-bout card promoted by Tom Loeffler’s 360 Promotions had the loud and passionate crowd on their feet from the opening fight.

An electric anticipation filled the famed venue as Walsh made his ring walk from the top levels of the stairs. Following the United States and Ireland’s national anthem’s, Walsh and Villarreal got right to work, exchanging having handed combinations bringing roars from each of their loud fanbases.

The valiant Villarreal slowed down in the middle rounds from the punishing blows from the southpaw Walsh who used an array of skills honed under Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach at the renowned Wild Card Boxing Gym in Los Angeles.

Villarreal scored a knockdown of Walsh late in the tenth round, the first of his career, however the round ended without any further damage.

Scores for Walsh at the end of the battle were 97-92, 97-92 and 96-93.

Said the victorious Walsh, “I appreciate everyone showing up tonight. This is his hometown and he really came to fight, he’s a tough fighter. It took a little for me to get warmed up but this was a real fight against a real fighter, I’m not here to take easy fights. You’re bound to get hit at this level but I proved that I can fight and win tonight. I’m 22-year-old and this fight will only make me better. We clashed heads and he hit me low but it’s a fight so you keep on going throwing your best shots.”

“I wasn’t hurt from the knockdown, more of a push and a trip that put me down. You could see when I got up I was fine. It happens, I have a good chin. I thought I won every round but one or two.”

“I wanted to get the knockout but I’m happy with my overall performance. I got hit too much which is something to work on. I’m going to learn and come back better. I was very happy with the crowd, there was a lot of loud support for both of us.”

Stated promoter Tom Loeffler, “Ismael Villarreal was a very tough opponent for Callum which we knew going into the fight. But this victory and the response from the sold-out crowd truly catapults Callum into the next level of popularity.”

Sacramento, CA knockout artist Cain Sandoval, (11-0, 11 KOs), continued his terror through the junior welterweight division, dominating and stopping Wesley Ferrer, (17-2-1, 8KOs), of Brooklyn, NY. Using a punishing arsenal and constant pressure against Ferrer, Sandoval would earn the stoppage in the fifth round (1:34) of their scheduled ten round bout.

Light heavyweights Umar Dzambekov, (8-0, 5KOs), of Los Angeles, CA and Frederic Julan, (13-3, 10 KOs), fought in a spirited eight round battle with each scoring throughout. Both fighters used battering uppercuts as their prominent weapons over the course of the eight rounder which saw no knockdowns.

Welterweight Gor Yeristyan, (17-0, 14 KOs), dropped Argentina’s Luis Alberto Veron, (20-8-2, 9 KOs), in the third round enroute to a unanimous eight round decision. Scores were 80-71, 79-72 and 78-73.

New York City favorite Brian Ceballo, (16-1, 8 KOs), won his third fight in a row with a fourth-round stoppage of Kenneth McNeil. A resounding body shot called a halt at the time of 2:17.

Los Angeles based featherweight Omar Trinidad, (14-0-1, 10 KOs), impressively took his show on the road with a first-round stoppage (2:27) of Andrew Bentley, (5-8, 1 KO).  Trinidad is undefeated since a draw in his pro debut.

In the night’s opener, super featherweight Feargal McCrory, (15-0, 7 KOs), of Coalisland, Ireland won a six round unanimous decision over Nikolai Buzolin, (9-7-1, 5 KO’s). Scores on all three judge’s scorecards were 58-56.

DEMETRIUS ANDRADE

“I have a lot of strengths. With my athletic ability and my preparation, I can beat anyone. This has really been a great camp. We’ve gotten through the ups and downs and we’ve done everything we need to do to get the victory in this matchup.

“I’ve fought every style there is today. I just have to go in there, find his weakness and figure out what’s going to work.

“I’m gonna step forward with my best foot and I expect David to do the same, even though his feet are not as great as mine. We’ll be having fun in there.

“I’ve waited my whole career for this. With what we both have inside of us, it’s gonna make it a great fight.

“I don’t really know his strengths until I get in there, but from watching him, he likes to overwhelm his opponents. That’s really all I see. November 25 tune in and I’m gonna expose his weaknesses.

“This is the best fighting the best. It’s a great moment. The timing couldn’t be any better. It’s the fight that makes all the sense in the world right now.”

DAVID BENAVIDEZ AND JOSE BENAVIDEZ JR. SEATTLE-AREA MEDIA WORKOUT QUOTES

BURIEN, WA. – November 10, 2023 – Former two-time super middleweight world champion David “El Monstruo” Benavidez and exciting contender Jose Benavidez Jr. previewed their upcoming clashes during a Seattle-area media workout Thursday as the brothers near their respective SHOWTIME PPV matchups on Saturday, November 25 in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

The pay-per-view telecast begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and is headlined by David defending his Interim WBC Super Middleweight Title against two-division world champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade, while Jose Jr. faces WBC Middleweight World Champion Jermall Charlo in a 10-round non-title WBC special event in the co-main event.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions and Sampson Boxing, are on sale now and available at AXS.com.

Here is what the Phoenix-born brothers, along with their father and trainer Jose Benavidez Sr., had to say Thursday from the Benavidez Sports Boxing Gym in the Seattle-area:

DAVID BENAVIDEZ

“I do expect to stop Andrade. I’ve been working extremely hard. My last fight went the distance and I was upset about that. We’re gonna correct the current and stop Demetrius Andrade.

“I’m preparing myself for the hardest possible fight. That’s how I always prepare. I’ve been training three months and sparring 15 rounds at a time. I’m 100% ready to go.

“There are a lot of things Andrade does well, but I see weaknesses as well. We’re gonna put a great game plan together and expose him on November 25.”

JOSE BENAVIDEZ JR.

“I love being at this weight class. I’ve been eating healthy and feeling strong. I feel like this is the weight I belong at. I’ve got my man strength and I’ve been sparring my brother and his sparring partners. I’ve been pushing them back, so that must say something. I’m really motivated and excited. Words can’t even do justice for how great I feel.

“There are a lot of doubters. There’s always gonna be doubters. Come November 25, I shut them all up and prove to the world that I belong here.

“I said what I had to say to Charlo. I’m gonna always speak my mind. If he can’t take the heat, choose another sport.”

JOSE BENAVIDEZ SR., David and Jose Jr.’s Father and Trainer

“Having my two sons on the same card on November 25 is gonna be extremely special. It’s what we worked so hard to achieve for all these years. Through the tears, and the fights and everything, it’s unbelievable. It’s hard to explain with words.

“I think these are the hardest fights for David and Jose Jr.. Every fight gets harder and harder. But I believe that I created monsters who can thrive in this kind of sport. I’m confident that they’re gonna do well and stop their opponents.

“Charlo made a big mistake choosing Jose Jr. He already has proved so many people wrong. Seeing how he’s sparring now, it’s unbelievable. It really motivates me.

“David is gonna stop Andrade around the eighth or ninth round and I think Jose will get a stoppage around the sixth or seventh.”

MASOUD VS. SANMARTIN + UNDERCARD PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

Frank Smith, Matchroom Boxing CEO:

“Shabaz Masoud has obviously had a lot of time out of the ring but he’s coming back into a proper fight. It’s what we need. We want you to come back into a proper fight, especially in the position he’s in. He’s highly ranked with the WBA not far off challenging for a World Title. As a team everyone believes that’s where he deserves to be and where he should be. I don’t think he’s far off that. He’s got to come through Saturday night. This is the kind of fight he needs after the period of time he’s had out. It would be worthless going back into an eight-round warm up fight. He needs this kind of fight. He’s been in the gym as he said throughout. Obviously the delay was unfortunate but it’s good to get it back on so quickly.”

Shabaz Masoud:

“I believe everything happens for a reason. When God takes one thing he always gives something better. Now I’m topping the bill in Newcastle. I love fighting in Newcastle, I’ve fought here before so it’s time to go. I’ve got itchy knuckles but I’ve been in the gym for a year since my last fight. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a true professional. I’m in the gym all the time. I feel like I’ve made a lot of improvements in the year since my last fight. It’s time to show them. I’m my own worst critic. I could have a top performance and still find something wrong with it. My team is like that as well. I’m just looking for perfection all of the time. I’m my own worst critic. Honestly I think he’s a good fighter, I feel like he’s a level above the fighters I’ve fought before but I think i can do a job on him. It’s time to go. I’m not Gary Cully. He’s a good fighter and I like him, but I’m Maverick Masoud. I just feel like I’m levels above. I’m just going to show everyone – especially Sanmartin. I feel like I’m better than him in every aspect.”

Jose Sanmartin:

“First and foremost I want to thank you once again for this opportunity. My plan is that I’m completely ready and I hope that Masoud is completely ready and recovered from his illness. We have a plan for this fight and I am completely ready to go.

“That won’t affect me in the slightest. I’m a very experienced guy and a very experienced fighter. All of the pressure will be on him on Saturday. I’m completely ready to take this victory and take this belt back to Colombia.

“We’ll wait and see what happens and how the fight develops, if the win can be via knockout then even better. We’re ready to give everything, we’re ready to get the decision if needs be and we’re going to win on Saturday, that’s the plan and I’m taking that title home. I’m sorry Masoud, you’re going to be losing on Saturday.”

Cameron Vuong:

“I really enjoyed my professional debut on the Wood vs. Warrington undercard. It was a great experience. It went exactly how I expected it to go. I put on a punch-perfect performance and I’m looking to do the same thing on Saturday night. I’m not sure my little press conference is going to live up to Mark Dickinson’s – that was very exciting. I’ve worked hard my whole life to get to this point so now that I am here I’m going to enjoy it – being under the lights, I love it. Put pressure on me because I feel like I perform under pressure. Having Nigel and Jamie behind me is the main thing, they keep us grounded and get us the right fights at the right time. I’m boxing a tough Colombian on Saturday – he’s got a winning record and he’s never been stopped so I’m looking to put on a big performance and get him out of there. Activity is key. I want to stay active. I feel like the more active I am and the bette the opponents get, the better Cameron Vuong you’ll see. I’m looking forward to getting out on Saturday and then fitting one more in before the end of the year in December.”

Calum French:

“You’re going to see a rejuvenated, refreshed and recharged Calum French. I want to start by thanking Eddie and Frank for keeping the show alive because a few years ago when Lewis Ritson was topping the bill, if he hadn’t of boxed the show would have been finished. Thanks for keeping the show on and giving us the opportunity to box. Massive respect for that. I had a bit of time out with an injury. I’ve done everything right during the rehab. I’ve given myself the best chance of jumping straight back in when the opportunity came and that’s exactly what I’ve done.

“I’d give myself a six out of ten so far in my professional career. I haven’t boxed as well as I can do. Obviously going from boxing at world level as an amateur when people are looking to take your head off, to dropping slightly down the levels to start your pro career just to learn the trade a little bit. I dropped to that level a bit in my first few fights but I’ve got a good game strong opponent on Saturday night. He comes to win and he’s got ambition. I believe you’ll see the best Calum French.”

Mark Dickinson:

“I’ll look him straight in the eyes and tell him, ‘you’re not on my level’. This is a young mans sport. You’re an old man. My dad is down there and he’s about the same age as you. When you’re five or six rounds deep and I’m walking you down and I’m giving you a beating you’ll feel like an old man. You will feel like an old man. Look at you, who are you trying to be? You look like Chris Eubank Jr off of Wish you stupid c***. Your best achievement is going to points and losing on points. The only person I’ve got to impress is me – and you’re getting done. This isn’t football, this is a f***ing fight. To be honest I think it’s a about levels rather than experience. I believe I’m levels above him. He’s going to say different. I’m glad he thinks different and I’m glad we’ve got a good fight. Saturday night we’ll find out. Get the win and I’ll have earned my shot at the English Title. That’s what it is all about. Once I have a belt i’ll get more opportunities to keep the ball rolling.”

Grant Dennis:

“You’re a young man and you don’t look as good as this old man, so it’s crazy isn’t it? Physically you’re not as good and mentally you’re not as good. The only person I know how to be like is me and I’m good at being that person. That is it. You can come with all of this young boy stuff, I know you want to impress all of these people, but you’ll get in there on Saturday night and you’ll see what professional boxing is about. Your little achievements in the amateurs and all things like that won’t mean anything. I used to score 50 odd goals a season when I was 18 too. I didn’t do it in the Premier League though. This is professional boxing. Age ain’t nothing! At the end of the day I put myself through the grind and that’s why I look like this bro. I don’t get the opportunities that these young boys have. You think that I came up getting fed opponents like these dudes do? Nah I’ve had to fight. I’ve had to fight for Southern Area Titles just on my seventh fight. Each fight as they come and that’s how I roll with it. I’ve still got a lot of hunger in me.”

Ewan Mackenzie:

“I’m looking forward to it mate, like you say it’s my first ten rounder. I’ve been doing it in the gym multiple times, I know it’s different under the lights but I’m fully confident I can keep the pace and it’s going to be an exciting fight.

“It’s a good job Sunny Edwards isn’t going to fight for you on Saturday I tell you that mate. I’ve got a good support coming up, plenty of the lads and lasses – so I’ll make sure I don’t let them down on Saturday night. It gives me that bit extra motivation in the ring. I know I’ll be able to dig deep in front of them.

“I think he’s going to slow down drastically, I’ll just put a pace on him from the start and we’ll see if he’s still talking that smack after round six. We’ll see.”

Ishmael Davies:

“Sunny Edwards has helped me massively outside of the ring. I learn a lot from Sunny Edwards. Everyone knows he’s like God on the mic. He knows how to talk. I’ve learnt a lot from him. He’s a World Champion and he’s one of my closest mates. He’s helped get me here, so yeah man I’m thankful for him. This has come at the right time. I’m confident. I heard Ewan Mackenzie is telling his people to put on a bet for a knockout and he wants 10%. You’ll be making them lose money. If you want to have a proper bet put your money where your mouth is and we’ll put our purses on it, me against you let’s do it! Do you want a deal? Let’s shake on it then! I bet you don’t reach the tenth round. Let’s do this. Less chat let’s do this. He’s going to sleep.”

Ben Rees:

“I won five National Titles, a GB Title, European Bronze Medal and a couple of tournament wins for England – gold medals. When Owen normally boxes I get way more nervous than when I box myself. I hate it, but I think when I’m in the changing room I won’t be able to see him fight so the nerves shouldn’t be so bad, but I’ll be thinking about him. I’ve been dying to get back in the ring – I’ve been training the full time so I’m more than ready. The last performance was a good performance, I stopped him in the first round but the opponent wasn’t up to much. This opponent for my next fight is a live opponent so I feel like I’m going to be able to showcase my skills more.”

Jimmy Sains:

“It was a great debut, everything that I could have asked for, like you said. A great turnout as well, everyone from Essex. To be honest I watched it back a few times, I didn’t think I actually boxed too great. I think Darren and Sunny were giving me a little bit of criticism on the comms, especially Sunny to be honest, but when I was looking at it he was definitely right 100%. I was trying to force the stoppage a little bit too much, loading up a little too much. But listen, that was my debut. I’ve got that out of the way and now all I want to do is focus on my performance and boxing. I’m glad I’m up here as well, out of the way a little bit – it’ll build my profile in Newcastle a little bit as well. I’m looking forward to Saturday night. Boxing comes first, but if the knockout is there I’m going to go for it.”

Owen Rees:

“I won a National Title and I got on the Great Britain squad. The 67kg weight class got taken out so obviously I thought there’s no better time to turn pro now. I would say I had a very good amateur career. I’m happy to be starting the action on Saturday night because I’ll be looking to put on a big performance and getting another big knockout just like my first fight. I’ll definitely be looking for the knockout. Anyone who watches the amateurs will know that I’ve got a very exciting style and I’ll definitely be showing that on Saturday night.”

QUOTES: ‘KING’ CALLUM WALSH AND ISMAEL VILLARREAL PRESS CONFERENCE AT UFC 295 MEDIA DAY

New York, NY (November 7, 2023) The Fastest Rising Star in Boxing‘King’ Callum Walsh, (8-0, 7 KOs), of Cork, Ireland kept up his torrid pace of media obligations the day before his Madison Square Garden debut holding court with the UFC media on Wednesday afternoon. Joining Walsh at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square to speak with the media was his opposition on Thursday night, Ismael ‘The Beast’ Villarreal, (13-1, 9 KOs), of the Bronx, NY.

Below are quotes from the participants;

‘King’ Callum Walsh

‘Every fight is getting bigger and bigger. I’m knocking people out and the opponents haven’t been giving me tough fights. So, the fights have to be bigger and better. This is going to be another test to see how good I am.”

“Dana White only gets behind real fighters and that’s what I’m here to prove, that I’m a real fighter. I never turn down an opponent or a fight. I fight whoever they put in front of me and try to prove myself.”

“I know Villarreal’s not going to want to lose here in his hometown. He’s young and he’s hungry for victory, he’s had one loss and that was controversial. But I’m ready to show New York that I’m here to stay. This has been my best camp, I feel very strong and very fit.”

“I don’t think far ahead, just think one fight at a time and keep winning. There’s no pressure for me, just go out there and win the fight.”

“There’s going to be a lot of Irish in the crowd tomorrow night and a lot of fans for Villarreal as well. I could see it 50/50 in the crowd but the Irish will be loud.”

Ismael ‘The Beast’ Villarreal

“I’m clearly the underdog in the minds of many, but I’m here to showcase my skills and be victorious tomorrow night.”

“I love all the publicity and media attention this fight has gotten.”

“I can box and I can brawl and I’m prepared for both tomorrow night. Most people know me as a pressure fighter pushing the pace of the fight.”

“I can see why the hype is so big for him; strong, young and Irish kid. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a split crowd tomorrow night, New York is a very diverse city.”

Walsh vs. Villarreal, the ten-round super welterweight main event is promoted by Tom Loeffler’s 360 Promotions in The Theater at Madison Square Garden and will be broadcast live globally on UFC FIGHT PASS. Walsh will be making the second defense of his WBC US Silver Super Welterweight Title headlining the seven-bout card.

TWO SENSATIONAL MATCHUPS HIGHLIGHT BENAVIDEZ VS. ANDRADE SHOWTIME PPV® COUNTDOWN SHOW STREAMING LIVE ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 25

LAS VEGAS – November 8, 2023 – Two sensational matchups featuring a former world champion, exciting contenders and a rising star will highlight the SHOWTIME PPV COUNTDOWN show on Saturday, November 25 leading up to the David Benavidez vs. Demetrius Andrade SHOWTIME PPV from Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas and presented by Premier Boxing Champions.

The action is topped by former world champion Sergey Lipinets taking on exciting contender Michel Rivera in a 10-round super lightweight fight, plus sensational prospect Vito Mielnicki Jr. faces Mexico’s Alexis Salazar in a 10-round super welterweight attraction. The live stream will begin at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT and be available on the SHOWTIME Sports YouTube channel and SHOWTIME Boxing® Facebook page. The show will be hosted by award-winning MORNING KOMBAT live digital talk show hosts Luke Thomas and Brian Campbell.

These fights will lead into a four-fight pay-per-view telecast beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and headlined by undefeated two-time super middleweight world champion David “El Monstruo” Benavídez defending his Interim WBC Super Middleweight Title against unbeaten two-division world champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade in one of the most intriguing matchups in the star-studded 168-pound division.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions and Sampson Boxing, are on sale now and available at AXS.com.

Lipinets (17-2-1, 13 KOs) will look for another statement victory on his road to re-claiming a 140-pound world title. After a decorated kickboxing career, Lipinets began boxing professionally in 2014, eventually capturing a world championship with a November 2017 unanimous decision over Akihiro Kondo. Originally from Kazakhstan and now fighting out of Southern California, Lipinets dropped the title in a 2018 clash against four-division champion Mikey Garcia on SHOWTIME® before making a run at welterweight. At 147-pounds, Lipinets stopped two-division champion Lamont Peterson and challenged current top welterweight Jaron Ennis unsuccessfully in April 2021. Most recently, Lipinets returned to 140 pounds to stop former world champion Omar Figueroa Jr. in the eighth round in August 2022 on SHOWTIME.

Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and now training out of Massachusetts, Rivera (24-1, 14 KOs) burst onto the scene in 2019, making his United States debut with a victory over Rene Tellez Giron on SHOBOX: The New Generation®. The 25-year-old continued his ascent with five more victories in 2020 and 2021, before beginning 2022 with triumphs over Joseph Adorno and Jerry Perez. Rivera’s momentum was halted in his last outing, as he dropped a showdown between then unbeaten lightweights, losing a decision to Frank Martin in December 2022 on SHOWTIME. He will now debut at 140-pounds seeking to get back on track toward a world title.

Representing Roseland, N.J., Mielnicki (15-1, 10 KOs) has shown improved power in recent outings, stopping three of his last four opponents, including a highlight-reel KO of Jose Sanchez Charles in April. This victory was Mielnicki’s second of the year, as he stopped Omar Rosales in four rounds in January. The 21-year-old first turned heads during his exceptional amateur career where he compiled a 147-22 record and was named the Most Outstanding Boxer of the 2011 Junior National Golden Gloves, amongst many accolades before turning pro.

Originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico and now fighting out of Norwalk, Calif., Salazar (25-5, 10 KOs) put together a 15-fight winning streak between 2015 and 2020, eventually earning a shot against top middleweight Carlos Adames that he lost in June 2021. The 28-year-old has won two out of three fights since that outing, including a decision loss to unbeaten Xander Zayas in December 2022. Most recently, Salazar stopped David Rangel in the fifth round of their June showdown.

The non-televised undercard will see Panama’s Pablo Vicente (23-1, 17 KOs) battling Tajikistan’s Muhammadkhuja Yaqubov (20-1, 11 KOs) in a 10-round WBC Super Featherweight Title Eliminator, Mayweather Promotions’ rising prospect Curmel Moton (1-0, 1 KO) in a four-round super featherweight showdown against Memphis-native Hunter Turbyfill (3-0, 1 KO), plus undefeated Milwaukee-native Daniel Blancas (7-0, 4 KOs) meets Texas’ Raiko Santana (10-3, 6 KOs) in an eight-round super middleweight bout.

Rounding out the lineup is unbeaten lightweight Jabin Chollet (8-0, 7 KOs) stepping in for an eight-round bout, a six-round super lightweight showdown pitting Israel Mercado (9-1-1, 7 KOs) against Wesley Rivers (4-3), plus welterweight prospect Alex Holley (1-0) duels Las Vegas’ Allen Medina (0-1) in a four-round fight.

INTERNATIONAL SUPERSTAR JAKE PAUL RETURNS TO THE RING TO FACE 10-1 PROFESSIONAL BOXER ANDRE AUGUST FRIDAY, DECEMBER 15 LIVE ON DAZN

NEW YORK – November 8, 2023 – Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) today announced international superstar Jake “The Problem Child” Paul (7-1, 4 KOs) will face professional boxer Andre August (10-1-1 5 KOs) in his highly-anticipated return to the ring as he continues his path to becoming a world champion on Friday, December 15 at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, FL. Paul vs. August, an eight-round cruiserweight fight, will headline MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects IV, presented by Celsius Essential Energy Drink, and is poised to be one of the biggest boxing events in Orlando’s history. August has the most experience and KOs of any opponent Paul has faced in his career. Despite shattering records by selling more pay-per-views in his first eight fights than any other boxer ever, Paul vs. August will be offered as part of the DAZN subscription package to ensure it is affordable and accessible to fans worldwide as August is introduced to the masses. Digital sports, entertainment, and gaming company DraftKings will serve as the event’s Official Sports Betting Partner. Tickets will go on sale Thursday, November 9 at 1:00pm ET on Ticketmaster.com.

December’s return to the ring promises to showcase Paul’s best effort and his toughest challenge yet as a hungry fighter ready to do whatever it takes to become a world champion.  Facing his first loss at the hands of Tommy Fury in February by a contentious split decision, Paul found himself back on top in August, defeating Nate Diaz by unanimous decision. In just three years since turning pro, Paul has collected multiple accolades, including ESPNRingside’s 2021 Knockout of The Year, Sports Illustrated’s 2021 Breakout Boxer of the Year, and ESPNRingside’s 2022 Viral Moment of the Year. Paul also earned distinction on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s August 2023 issue, “The 50 Most Influential Figures in Sports,” for his success in the ring, his groundbreaking work to revolutionize pay equality in boxing, and his support of female fighters and boxing prospects through Most Valuable Promotions alongside co-founder Nakisa Bidarian.

“I’m a professional boxer and I want to be world champion, so I need to pursue the path towards greatness against people who have been boxing their whole life,” said Jake Paul. “So far, my entire boxing career has been on pay-per-view, but now it’s about more than business. Now I want to build my experience in the ring against seasoned fighters. I’m coming to prove my greatness on Friday, December 15th live on DAZN for the world to see.”

Hailing from the streets of Beaumont, Texas, Andre August has emerged from the trenches to one of the biggest stages in boxing. Growing up, August found himself drawn into street fighting due to his involvement with gang activity following the passing of his mother during his sophomore year of high school. Fueled by an unyielding fire and a growing passion to do more, he made a defining choice to pursue boxing.

He faced insurmountable odds, yet his unrelenting determination and skill propelled him through the amateur ranks. August established himself as a self-made fighter, motivated to prove himself and make a lasting impact on the world of professional boxing.

At 10-1-1 with five KO’s, August has proven his tenacity and power in the ring. Coming off a unanimous decision victory over the undefeated 7-0 Brandon Martin and currently riding a five-fight winning streak, August will provide Jake Paul his toughest test in the ring to date.

“I don’t talk very much. I’m all about that action! Jake Paul has the money, the fame, the team and the resources but he doesn’t have my hunger,” said Andre August. “When that bell rings, I am going to go straight to Jake Paul and ring his bell and send him back to YouTube for good.”

MVP’s Shadasia “The Sweet Terminator” Green is also set to take on Franchón Crews-Dezurn for the WBC super middleweight title, as a special championship feature on the Paul vs. August card – marking MVP’s latest significant women’s championship fight as the company works to establish equity across the sport.

“I am the truth, and I’m going to show the world on Friday, December 15th that I’m the best,” said Shadasia Green. “Franchón – I’m better than you. All you are is a singer with a bad wig, so just show up and shut up.”

“I’m on a mission to continue to prove why I’m one of the greatest,” said Franchón Crews-Dezurn. “On Friday, December 15th, I’m going to put in the work, and I’m going to show you why I’m The Heavy Hitting Diva. You can snatch my wig off. I’m still that girl.”

“Jake’s global star power has already made him one of the biggest names in boxing. He’s sold more pay-per-views over his first eight fights than any other boxer ever and he’s one of the few names in the game advocating for women and prospects in the sport,” said MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian. “And now he’s once again doing what very few of the best and biggest boxers in the world have done in their 9th professional fight – fighting someone with a better record and more experience. Pound-for-pound, the great Terrence Crawford fought a 9-14 opponent in his 9th fight, Canelo Alvarez fought a 0-1 opponent, and Gervonta Davis fought an opponent that had 31 losses! But Terence, Canelo and Gervonta didn’t have the world watching. Jake Paul does, and he’s once again putting it all on the line taking on a 10-1 opponent. Thank you to DAZN for working with us to make this event accessible to fans around the world. Paul vs. August and Green vs. Crews-Dezurn are going to make for an unforgettable fight night for fans.”

“Jake Paul is one of the biggest names in boxing and we are delighted to be broadcasting his fight on Friday, December 15th,” said Joe Markowski, CEO of DAZN North America. “Jake has always stated he wants to be a World Champion and this is another step towards that dream. The world will be watching. Live and exclusive, only on DAZN.”

“On behalf of the entire team at Caribe Royale we’re excited to be hosting this event,” said Amaury Piedra, Managing Director of Caribe Royale Resort and President of Boxlab Promotions. “Jake has made this his second home with the Most Valuable Prospect Series and we were proud when he and Nakisa decided to have us host this event in the great city of Orlando! As the only 4- diamond, all suite convention hotel in Florida, we strive to bring the best events to the Central Florida area for not only our out of town guests but local residents alike. December 15th will be a memorable, action packed night and we expect a sold out night at Caribe Royale!”

Paul vs. August on Friday, December 15 will headline MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects IV, featuring top up-and-coming boxing talent, with additional bouts to be announced in the coming weeks. Most Valuable Promotions will also continue to showcase its premiere talent throughout 2024 to global audiences on DAZN with multiple events set to return to the Caribe Royale Orlando. MVP’s undisputed featherweight champion and seven-division world champion Amanda Serrano (45-2-1, 30 KOs) most recently defeated WBO challenger Danila Ramos in a historic 12-round, three-minute rounds unified featherweight title bout, equal to men’s championship fights, on October 27 at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida. Directly preceding the fight was MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects III.

Robson Conceição: “I’m Coming for Emanuel Navarrete’s Title!”

LAS VEGAS (Nov. 8, 2023) — For Brazilian Olympic gold medalist Robson Conceição, he hopes the third time will be the charm.

Conceição will have his third world title opportunity when he takes on WBO junior lightweight world champion Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete on Thursday, Nov. 16 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Navarrete-Conceição will serve as the co-feature to the vacant WBC lightweight title clash between pound-for-pound star Shakur Stevenson and Dominican slugger Edwin De Los Santos.

Stevenson-De Los Santos and Navarrete-Conceição will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT.

Promoted by Top Rank, in association with Sampson Boxing, tickets are on sale now via AXS.com.

Conceição (17-2, 8 KOs) made history as Brazil’s first Olympic boxing gold medalist, turning pro under the Top Rank banner less than three months after the 2016 Rio Games. In September 2021, he earned his first shot at a world title against Oscar Valdez, who was then the unbeaten WBC champ at junior lightweight. Although he lost a close points verdict, he proved to be a worthy title contender. Conceição put up a spirited showing against Stevenson last September in a bid for the WBC and WBO titles. Conceição, who earned the gold medal in his third attempt at Olympic glory, aims to repeat that accomplishment as a pro. Navarrete (38-1, 31 KOs) is a three-division world champion from Mexico and has won 33 consecutive bouts.

Following a recent training session, this is what Conceição had to say:

“I have the utmost respect for a great champion like ‘Vaquero’ Navarrete. He is a good person and a tremendous fighter, and I am sure that we will have a great battle. He has something that is the thing I want most in my professional life. I’m not coming to play. I’m coming for his title. Navarrete, I’m very sorry.”

“I won my gold medal in my third Olympic Games. Now, I will win my world title in my third opportunity. I will take his title to Brazil, and it will be a bigger national celebration than when I won Olympic gold in Rio 2016. I will join the select group of Olympic champions to win a world title as a professional.”

HARLEM EUBANK PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

Harlem Eubank and Timo Schwarzkopf shared an intense face-off at today’s pre-fight press conference in Brighton, ahead of their clash live on Channel 5 on Friday night.

Eubank and Schwarzkopf headline ‘Bloodline’, the latest big-punching Wasserman Boxing event, delivered in association with LadbrokesNuman and Infinitum Entertainment.

The unbeaten Harlem becomes the first member of the famous Eubank fighting family to headline in their home city, since Chris Eubank Senior defended his world title in the 1990s.

Eubank knows a victory in front of his home fans will catapult his career towards big fights but the experienced Schwarzkopf has flown over from Germany, intent on causing an upset.

Harlem Eubank said: “I feel great, I feel ready to put on a statement performance.

“I am ready to to go out and put on a display we’ve been preparing for.  This is the homecoming I have wanted for a long time and one I have worked hard for.

“I am going to bring it back home for my people.”

Timo Schwarzkopf said: “He’s a good fighter, but we will see if he is a real warrior like Chris Eubank Senior was.

“I am a warrior like Senior but is the younger Eubank as strong?  I will test him to the head and test him to the body.”

Nisse Sauerland said: “This is Harlem’s coming out party on a massive night.

“Brighton hasn’t had a boxing event like this in a long time.  Tickets have sold unbelievably well and we are expecting a great night.”

Chris Eubank Senior said: “I am excited and I am fascinated by Harlem’s boxing ability.  I am switched on when I see someone with his ability and his ability is phenomenal.

“Harlem is a beautiful, sweet boxer but if he is back into a corner, you are in trouble.”

JERMALL CHARLO VS. JOSE BENAVIDEZ JR. VIRTUAL PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

LAS VEGAS – November 7, 2023 – Undefeated WBC Middleweight World Champion Jermall Charlo and exciting contender Jose Benavidez Jr. went back and forth during a heated virtual press conference Tuesday ahead of their 10-round non-title WBC special event that serves as the SHOWTIME PPV co-main event on Saturday, November 25 in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

The pay-per-view telecast begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and is headlined by undefeated two-time super middleweight world champion David “El Monstruo” Benavídez defending his Interim WBC Super Middleweight Title against unbeaten two-division world champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions and Sampson Boxing, are on sale now and available at AXS.com.

Here is what the fighters had to say Tuesday:

JERMALL CHARLO

“I’m thankful for this second chance to show my greatness. Training camp has been awesome and I’m ready to go. Benavidez is a great fighter and I really don’t have anything bad to say about him. He’s gonna see what it’s about when he’s in there. He can keep running his mouth, because he’s gonna find out.

“My mental abilities have caught up with my physical abilities, so you’re gonna see the best of me. I’m naturally stronger and I’ve really been working on my twitch and my speed. I’ve sparred strong guys, so I should be at the top of my game. I’m ready to blow this dude out.

“I won’t be rusty at all. There’s no excuses in this fight. I hope Benavidez isn’t thinking that I’m gonna be rusty. Because I’ve been working. You’ll see.

“You’re all talk. You ain’t nothing. This is my first step toward potentially fighting at 168 pounds and fighting his brother. This guy here has got little man syndrome. He’s gonna see when he starts eating right hands and jabs.

“He loses at the top level. He’s not his brother. He keeps trying to be his brother, but he’s not that. I respect his brother. I’m not worried about Jose. I’m gonna straight up fight him like a man.

“I’m gonna stand in the pocket and fight you. So you better not run. Come to me. Don’t try to do that awkward southpaw stuff. You’re not like that and you’re not ready for me.

“I’m not sweating him at all. I’m not one of those fighters who’s gonna let you choke me at the weigh-in or anything like that. We’re gonna beat up his whole town.”

JOSE BENAVIDEZ JR.

“I’m very thankful for this opportunity. I feel great and I feel strong. I’m not really gonna do too much talking, because I know Charlo is gonna do his talking, but I don’t care about any of his excuses. He’s gonna see what a real puncher is on fight night.

“You already look scared. It’s gonna be funny when I whoop you. I always keep this same energy. Ask anybody about me.

“I’ve fought at 160 pounds a few times before and I walk around at 180. The lower weights were hard to make. When I fought Danny Garcia, I was at 175 the week of the fight and had to lose 20 pounds. I feel strong now and ready to get this show on the road.

“I do thank him for choosing me to fight him. He’s right about that. It’s gonna be a fantastic night of boxing and we’re both training hard for it.

“When I fought Terence Crawford, it was the same weight I had been fighting at since 14 years old. He’s a world class fighter, don’t get me wrong. But I feel really good at this weight. I’ve always sparred bigger guys and I feel like it’s time for me. I’m in a great place right now.

“You gotta be confident. I don’t think he’s confident in himself. He’s knocked out bums. Watch what happens when I get in there. I’ve been in a tough training camp and sparring for a while. I’m really motivated more than anything.

“I felt good in my last fight stepping up in weight. It’s good to be active and it’s got me feeling very strong going into this fight.”

Pablo Corzo will defend his Fedelatin title against Carlos Rivero in Argentina

The Argentinean champion Pablo “Pac-man” Corzo, has been confirmed to return to the ring to defend his Fedelatin title for the sixth time, this time against the Venezuelan Carlos Rivero, next Saturday, November 11.

The 10-round super middleweight bout will be the co-main event of the evening between Anahi Sanchez and Marisa Portillo. The fight will take place at the Club Deportivo y Social Sportsmen Unidos, Santa Fe, Argentina.

Pablo Corzo’s current status

Pablo Ezequiel Corzo, born in Catamarca, Argentina, will face his fourth fight of the year. At the beginning of 2023, he defeated his compatriot, Facundo Nicolas Galovar (15-10-2) by unanimous decision, then in May, he returned to win by knockout against the Colombian, Juan Boada (14-6) in the fifth round.

Corzo retained again the title of the pioneer organization by defeating Colombian Cristian Grisales (8-3) in the seventh round by knockout in his homeland last September.

Corzo (16-0-0 / 14 KO), 23, has a perfect record as a professional and has a knockout power above 80%. Also, four of his last six fights have ended by knockout, and three of them before the fifth round.

Carlos Rivero’s current status

The native of Falcon, Venezuela, Carlos Luis Rivero, returned to the ring after almost three years without boxing. He managed to win by knockout his compatriot, Jose Rafael Marcano (2-6) in the third round, in August.

Later, he traveled to Brazil, where he lost by knockout in the second round in the dispute of the Fedebol title against the local, Patrick Teixeira (33-4). However, in his next appearance he defeated Rafael Vicent (0-1) by knockout in the first round.

Rivero (24-2-1 / 14), 32 years old, has a knockout power close to 60%. Similarly, he accumulates just one loss and 15 wins since the distant 2019.

GONZALEZ AND BASANTA TO SHINE IN THE “WBA FUTURE”

The Guairean Algerbis Gonzalez returns to action this Saturday, to face the Bolivarian Jhonnatan Basanta, in the second edition of the “WBA Future Venezuela”, to be staged at the Yesterday Recreational Center of Turmero.

Gonzalez, 22 years old (6-2), made his debut in the WBA Future last September with a superb knockout over Jose Hernandez from Zulia. Now, he hopes to shine against a tough opponent like Basanta (1-4) in a super lightweight fight.

The second delivery of the development program run by the World Boxing Association in the country, will offer a confrontation between the pupils of the boxing schools of former world champion Felix Machado, and former universal title contender Gustavo Vera.

Geremi Vera, son of the latter, has started his professional career with three straight wins at 112 pounds. On Saturday he will face Billy Prado, looking to preserve his undefeated record.

Great expectations are generated by the confrontation of the double national youth champion, Darly Perozo, who will make her debut in professional boxing against Yeraldin Liendo.

Jefree Gutierrez, pupil of Felix Machado, will challenge the sensational Gleyber “Canelito” Maia, who offered a great exhibition in the September Future.

The WBA Future Venezuela will offer eight professional bouts endorsed by the Professional Boxing Commission. There will also be at least four amateur fights.

This program aims to be a development platform for boxers who are starting their steps in the professional sport.

In the first edition of the “WBA Future” held in September, the promising 22 year old José “Cañón” Aray (4-1), from Guariqueño, was the great protagonist, dispatching Josmer Franco (4-8) from Merida by knockout.

Former WBA world champions Leo “Torito” Gamez, David Grimán, Eloy Rojas, Eva Guzmán and Johan Pérez are expected to be present.

The WBA Future Venezuela is part of the calendar of events of this WBA program that are already taking place in Colombia, Panama, Andorra, and soon in Argentina and Nicaragua.

The fight night is presented in association with Miguel Cotto Promotions and will be broadcast worldwide on DAZN.

“I would like to thank my promoter Miguel Cotto and Golden Boy promotions for another big opportunity that benefits my career. Honestly, it’s been a very long time since I’ve actually fought in my hometown, but I am thrilled,” said Jose “Tito” Sanchez. “It’s an honor to be fighting at Fantasy Springs Casino and a great way to end the year. Now, I’ve seen what my opponent Walter Santibañes does out in that ring, but I also hope he’s seen what I can bring to the table. From what I can tell now, it’s gonna be a great fight and I hope he’s ready for me.”

Walter Santibañes was last seen inside the ring in June, where he put on a dramatic performance and defeated the hometown fighter Manuel “Gucci Manny” Flores. Accustomed to his underdog status, he will be looking to steal the crowd yet again against Sanchez.

“Thank you to Golden Boy for this opportunity,” said Walter Santibañes. “The last time I was in the B-corner as the main event, I walked out of the ring with an upset victory. I plan to do it again.”
