EMILIO SANCHEZ SCORES TKO WIN AGAINST CHRISTOPHER MARTIN IN MAIN EVENT OF LA FIGHT CLUB AT THE BELASCO THEATER

LOS ANGELES (Aug 10, 2018): Emilio Sanchez (17-1, 11 KOs) made a successful move to featherweight by defeating Christopher Martin (30-11-3, 10 KOs) via fifth-round technical knockout in the scheduled eight-round main event of the Aug. 10 edition of LA FIGHT CLUB at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles and televised nationally on EstrellaTV’s Boxeo Estelar. Sanchez dropped Martin in the third round and continued punishing him until referee Jack Reiss called a halt to the fight at the end of the fifth round.

“I felt fast and strong,” said Emilio Sanchez. “This was my first fight after moving up to 126 pounds, and I felt stronger. I was working on landing my uppercuts and shots to the body. I have to talk to my manager Frank Espinoza and with Golden Boy Promotions, but I want to return as soon as possible.”

VIP guests for tonight’s event included Christian “Chimpa” Gonzalez, Manny Robles III, Marvin Cabrera, Herbert “Ace” Acevedo, Richard “Kansas Kid” Acevedo, Tenochtitlan “T-Dog” Nava, and Rafael “El Alikin” Gramajo.

In tonight’s co-main event, Hector “El Finito” Tanajara Jr. (15-0, 5 KOs) of San Antonio, Texas defeated Emmanuel Morales (7-3, 4 KOs) of Cidra, Puero Rico via eight-round unanimous decision. Tanajara won with three scores of 80-72.

“I feel I did better than in my last performance,” said Hector Tanajara Jr. “He was really taking all of my punches. He [Morales] was a really tough opponent. I need to work on not letting people hold me on the inside, but I’m overall happy with the fight.”

Raymond Muratalla (5-0, 3 KOs) of Fontana, Calif. scored a knockdown en route to a four-round unanimous decision win against Guillaume Lorenzo (2-2) of Perpignan, France. Muratalla won with three scores of 40-35.

“It was good, and I had fun,” said Raymond Muratalla. “He had a good chin, so it was hard to get him out. I need to be more offensive. I hope I can fight again before the year ends.”

Oscar “El Motorcito” Acevedo (4-0) of Los Angeles, Calif. defeated experienced Mexican warrior Gerardo Molina (2-5, 1 KO) of Saucillo, Mexico via unanimous decision in a four-round 130-pound battle. Acevedo won with three scores of 40-36.

“This was a good learning experience,” said Oscar Acevedo. “I felt I needed to throw more punches, but he [Molina] was a tough opponent so I’m OK with my performance. I can’t wait to come back.”

FRAMPTON READY FOR WARRINGTON SHOWDOWN

CARL FRAMPTON insists he will be ready for IBF world champion Josh Warrington after achieving his dream of fighting at Windsor Park.

Frampton is the star turn at Belfast’s famous football stadium when he defends his interim WBO featherweight title against Luke Jackson (16-0) on Saturday August 18.

If he comes through against the unbeaten Aussie on the card that is close to a sell-out, an opportunity to win a fourth world title will be delivered by promoter Frank Warren.

Frampton (25-1) has previously held the IBF and WBA super-bantamweight crowns and the WBA featherweight title.

Although Frampton is also eyeing WBO king Oscar Valdez who is currently sidelined by injury, English rival Warrington is also promoted by Warren and a fight that could happen in the autumn.

Frampton, 31, said: “The plan after Jackson is Oscar Valdez or Josh Warrington, which would be the easier to make because we are both promoted by Frank Warren.

“Warrington and myself is more appealing to British sports fans, but It doesn’t matter who I face.

You could flip a coin to decide whether it is Warrington or Valdez.”

Frampton’s eventual target is a rubber clash against Leo Santa Cruz who he defeated two years ago, but lost against on points in a rematch six months later.

Santa Cruz has been reluctant to face ‘The Jackal’ for the third time, but Frampton says:

“If I beat Jackson, then Warrington or Valdez I will have a title and that puts me in a stronger position, and ready to tackle Santa Cruz.

“That might make him want to come to the table, negotiate and talk about the fight again. That is the fight that appeals to me more than any other.”

Also on the BT Sport televised bill Lineal heavyweight king Tyson Fury faces a step up when he tackles two-time world title challenger Francesco Pianeta.

In only his sixth professional fight, Frampton’s great friend Paddy Barnes challenges WBC flyweight champion Cristofer Rosales.

The bill also includes a light-heavyweight clash between Belfast’s Steven Ward and Dubliner Steve Collins Jr. Also in action is WBO European middleweight champion Luke Keeler, Conrad Cummings, KO king Lewis Crocker, Marco McCullough, Sean McComb and Steven Donnelly.

The 28-year-old Bryan (19-0, 13 KOs), who hails from Schenectady, NY has his eyes on the interim world title as he returns to the ring Saturday night following stopping Francois Russell in the third round in his last fight on Dec. 15, 2017. Flores, who hails from Chandler, AZ is 34-3-1 with 21 KOs. He last fought at the Celebrity Theater on June 24, 2017 and won a unanimous decision over Nick Guivas.

Amanda Serrano to Fight for World Title in a Record Sixth Weight Division Saturday, September 8 – Live Streaming Undercard Coverage From Barclays Center On SHOWTIME Sports Social Media Platforms Precedes Danny Garcia vs. Shawn Porter Main Event

NEW YORK – August 9, 2018 – Amanda Serrano will fight for a world title in a sixth weight division on Saturday, September 8 at Barclays Center, the home of BROOKLYN BOXING™. Brooklyn’s Serrano will face Yamila Esther Reynoso for the vacant WBO Junior Welterweight World Championship. If successful, Serrano will set a women’s boxing record as a six-division world champion, joining Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya as the only boxers, male or female, to reach the mark.

SHOWTIME Sports will live-stream Serrano vs. Reynoso as part of undercard coverage on the network’s social media platforms. SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING COUNTDOWN begins live at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on the SHOWTIME Sports YouTube channel and SHOWTIME Boxing Facebook page. The live stream precedes a three-fight SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, SHOWTIME) headlined by Danny Garcia vs. Shawn Porter for the welterweight world championship.

SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING COUNTDOWN, the network’s seventh social media offering of live boxing in 2018, is available to all domestic users with internet access. The livestream is hosted by Ray Flores with Chris Mannix serving as analyst.

Serrano (34-1-1, 26 KOs), who is already the only woman to win titles in five weight classes, is looking to best her personal record. Born in Carolina, Puerto Rico and representing her hometown of Brooklyn, Serrano has won titles from 118 to 135 pounds, earning her the No. 2 ranking on the BWAA’s inaugural women’s pound-for-pound list. The 29-year-old is also the only Puerto Rican – male or female – to capture world titles in five different weight classes and will look to build on that record against Reynoso. She fights for the fifth time in her career at Barclays Center on September 8 with a chance to once again make history again in front of the passionate fan base of Puerto Rican boxing fans in New York.

“I’m super excited to be fighting for a world title in my sixth weight class,” said Serrano. “My opponent is really a welterweight, having defended her Argentinean 147-pound title by knockout in her last fight, and is dropping down one division to face me. I am coming up four divisions for this shot. I’m sure Reynoso will rehydrate back up to her natural weight after the weigh-in, but this is a risk worth taking. She’s never been stopped either, so I know she’s durable. This is a tremendous card to be a part of with Garcia vs. Porter as the main event. My promoter, Lou DiBella, has big things lined up for me, and I am eager to take on all challenges.”

Reynoso (11-4-3, 8 KOs), of Buenos Aires, Argentina, has challenged for world titles at 140 pounds and 154 pounds. The 22-year-old has most recently campaigned at welterweight, where she held the Argentina 147-pound title, and will be moving back down in weight for her third shot at a world title. Reynoso, who will make her U.S. debut on September 8, has recorded all eight of her knockouts inside of five rounds.

“I’m very happy to be training for such a great opportunity for this WBO world title against a terrific champion in Amanda Serrano,” said Reynoso. “I am coming ready to give Serrano a real fight, and I look forward to capturing the title belt.”

“Amanda Serrano is one of the best pound-for-pound female boxers and one of the best boxers in the world, period,” said Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment. “She is also now a two-sport athlete, embarking on her MMA career earlier this year. In the boxing ring, Serrano is a record-breaker, becoming the only female boxer to win world titles in five weight classes, and on September 8, she will attempt to break her own record, vying for a sixth division championship. I’m thrilled that the world will get to see Serrano make history once again with the bout being a part of the SHOWTIME live stream online.”

CES Boxing beefs up roster with new acquisitions

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Thursday, Aug. 9th, 2018) — With its 25th anniversary in the books, CES Boxing is on the fast track to securing another quarter century of success with a handful of new signings and reacquisitions to beef up its already-loaded roster.

The list includes a mix of new faces and current fan-favorites, perhaps none bigger (literally) than 6-foot-9, 248-pound Nigerian heavyweight Raphael Akpejiori of Miami. Trainer by former two-time world champion Glen Johnson, Akpejiori transitions from the hardwood to the boxing ring this fall when he makes his professional debut on CES Boxing’s Sept. 14th event at Twin River Casino.

The heavy-handed slugger, nicknamed “The Nigerian Hurricane,” played college basketball and football at the University of Miami, where he shot 42 percent from the field for the Hurricanes from 2010 through 2014. As a graduate student at Miami, he joined the school’s football team as a tight end despite having never played football in high school. Akpejiori debuts in a four-round clash against Texas’ Omar Acosta on Sept. 14th.

“I signed with CES and Jimmy Burchfield because of their shared & purposeful vision for me in achieving my goal of becoming an undisputed heavyweight champion of the world,” Akpejiori said. “I am excited to make my professional debut in September, as this will be the first step in reaching this set goal.”

The heavyweight division is as hot it’s been in decades and CES Boxing is looking to stake its claim with Akpejiori joining stablemates Juiseppe Cusumano (16-2) of Sicily and Philadelphia native Paul Koon (3-0), another recent acquisition.

“This is an amazing time to be a boxing fan,” CES Boxing president Jimmy Burchfield Sr. said. “Our roster gets stronger and stronger each day and we’re confident as a team that we have some future world champions joining the family. We look forward to standing alongside them as they continue to develop and grow.”

A longtime advocate for women’s combat sports, both in boxing and mixed martial arts, Burchfield also signed female lightweight sensation Shayna Foppiano (1-0, 1 KO) of Everett, Mass., who makes her CES Boxing debut Sept. 14th.

Foppiano joins a long list of female fighters who rose to fame under the guidance of CES Boxing, including former three-time world champion Jamie Clampitt, former lightweight title-holder Elizabeth Mueller, two-time world champion Missy Fiorentino, former WBC middleweight world champion Kali Reis, world-title challenger Aleksandra Magdziak Lopes and two-time champion Shelly Vincent.

“From the first CES fight that I attended as a spectator, I felt much more than just a team feel, but more of a family feel,” Foppiano said. “Mr. Burchfield has a way of making you feel like this is exactly where you belong. Observing each bout, Mr. B would walk out with each of his fighters and not leave their side, always showing that he has their back, and I knew that was something I wanted to be a part of.

“Stepping forward into my career I knew that CES was the team I wanted standing next to me while I accomplished my goals and dreams. With my CES debut September 14th at Twin River Casino approaching, I feel more confident than ever that CES will help lead me toward a magnificent victory over my opponent.”

CES Boxing is also proud to announce the re-signings of regional standouts Nick DeLomba (13-2, 3 KOs) of Cranston, R.I., Elvin Ayala (29-10-1, 13 KOs) of New Haven, Conn., welterweight Marqus Bates (4-2, 3 KOs) of Taunton, Mass., and unbeaten Pawtucket, R.I., super featherweight Ricky Delossantos (5-0, 1 KO), plus the addition of Colorado super middleweight Marvin Cordova (22-2-1, 11 KOs), a 25-fight vet, all of whom will return to the ring in 2018.

A former world-title challenger, Ayala returns to his roots in New England, where he rose to prominence under the guidance of CES Boxing. Born in Reading, Pa., Ayala won his first 16 fights beginning in 2004 and challenged reigning title-holder Arthur Abraham for the IBF World Middleweight Championship in 2008.

Following a devastating loss to David Lemieux two years later, the then 29-year-old Ayala returned to CES Boxing and won his next six fights, including a victory over Derrick Findley in 2011 for the WBC USNBC middleweight title. Ayala’s lengthy resume also includes wins over previously unbeaten middleweight prospect Ronald Gavril, plus victories against veteran Aaron Mitchell and Marcos Reyes to regain the WBC USNBC title.

DeLomba debuted with CES Boxing in 2013, kicking off his pro career in a six-round bout against Jimmy Smith of Maine. His impressive early resume included a narrow win over Connecticut rival Edwin Soto in 2014, plus a knockout win over Juan Rodriguez Jr. a year later at Twin River after getting knocked down in the opening round. In 2011, DeLomba upended previously unbeaten regional rival Freddy Sanchez and later defeated Connecticut’s Oscar Bonilla to capture the vacant New England Super Lightweight Title.

The slick, 28-year-old right-hander has won three of his last four, including victories over southpaw Amos Cowart in 2016 and a win over Louis Cruz in December to earn the UBF All-America Super Lightweight Title. DeLomba will keep busy in 2018; he recently won his first fight of the year July 18th in New Hampshire and returns Sept. 14th at Twin River to face unbeaten Irish junior welterweight Ray Moylette.

Bates and Delossantos are two of the newest additions to the CES Boxing roster, both fighting their entire career under the company’s guidance before signing long-term deals in 2018.

The 32-year-old Bates has won four of his last five after suffering a loss to Miguel Ortiz in his professional debut. The brother of former University of Maine and New England Patriots linebacker Trevor Bates, the elder Bates flattened Arturo Lopes and Aaron Moniz via first-round knockout and then pieced together his most complete performance May 11th at Twin River with a dominant win over in-state rival Mohammad Allam, ending the fight via third-round knockout. Bates makes his Foxwoods Resort Casino debut Oct. 20thagainst Connecticut’s Carlos Hernandez.

Delossantos, also a late-bloomer in the sport after making his professional debut at the age of 27, recently earned his first-career knockout win February 23rd against Efren Nunez and followed that up May 11th by winning all four rounds in an unanimous decision win over Washington, D.C., native James Early. He has dominated the regional scene in the 126-pound weight class with victories over Massachusetts natives Philip Davis and Jonathan Perez. Delossantos returns Sept. 14th to face Jersey City vet Jose Ortiz.

Cordova joins the CES Boxing family after ending a seven-year layoff in December with a win over Eduardo Flores in Colorado. The 33-year-old righthander also faced former WBC world welterweight champion Victor Ortiz in 2007 after winning each of his first 12 fights and later that year went on to win the WBC Youth World Super Lightweight Title by defeating Javier Carmona via eighth-round knockout. A year later, Cordova captured the NABA 140-pound title with a win over Derrick Samuels in Las Vegas. He also faced former WBC Silver Welterweight Champion Josesito Lopez in 2010, his final fight before launching his comeback in December.

Fellow newcomer and former Southern New England Golden Gloves champion Victor Reynoso of Providence also joins the CES Boxing roster after signing a promotional agreement earlier this year and will make his professional debut Sept. 14th fresh off his trip to the 2018 Junior National Championships in Aurora, Ill. Joining him will be another new stablemate, Nicholas Briggs of Worcester, Mass., a former Ringside Tournament Champion and decorated amateur who finished with a 50-17 record. Briggs faces Jacob Wright of Alabama in his professional debut Sept. 14th while Reynoso battles Ecuadorian Maurilio Alava.

“The faces you see this summer and in the fall are going to become household names in no time,” Burchfield Sr. said. “Nobody builds champions like we do and no one works harder for and on behalf of their fighters. This is historic. Never in our 26-year history has our roster been loaded with such diverse talent. From bantamweight to heavyweight, we’ve got championship potential in every division and we’re excited to see what’s in store for these promising up-and-comers.”

Danny Roman Makes Third Defense of WBA Title on Oct. 6 Against Gavin McDonnell

ORANGE, Calif. (Aug. 8, 2018) – Danny Roman (25-2-1, 9 KOs), the current WBA super bantamweight champion, will defend his crown against the No. 4 ranked challenger in Gavin McDonnell (20-1-2, 5 KOs) on Saturday, Oct. 6 from the Wintrust Arena in Chicago.

The 12-round world title clash was formally announced today at a Chicago press conference. The championship fight will be available for viewing via DAZN, a live and on-demand streaming service that will make its U.S. debut in September.

Roman, 28, will defend his championship for the third time since winning the title in a ninth round knockout over Shun Kubo last September.

“This is another great opportunity to show everyone that I am the best in this division,” said Roman, who entered into a co-promotional deal with long time promoter Thompson Boxing and new partner Matchroom Boxing in July. “I’m excited to get in the ring with a quality boxer such as McDonnell. I think our styles are going to make for a tremendous fight.”

“Danny is making good on his promise to only fight the best,” said Ken Thompson, president of Thompson Boxing. “He aspires to be considered the top boxer in what is a talented division. He’s already looked incredible in his first two title defenses and we expect another dominating win against the always tough McDonnell on October 6.”

The Los Angeles-based Roman already has two successful title defenses on the year, while England’s McDonnell has won four in a row since losing to current WBC belt holder Rey Vargas in a vacant world title fight back in early 2017.

“This is a tremendous world title fight for our first show on DAZN in the U.S.,” said promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing. “Danny won his title in brilliant style on the road in Japan against Shun Kubo and was fantastic in both his first defense back in Japan against Ryo Matsumoto and his second against Moises Flores in Texas. I want the world to see just how talented this guy is, and we have a great fight for him to do so.”

Tickets for “Worlds Collide” are priced at $40, $60, $100, & $200 and are on sale now through Ticketmaster.com.

PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES FROM MATCHROOM BOXING USA IN CHICAGO

Eddie Hearn, President of Matchroom Boxing USA:

“It’s always great flying eight hours and you turn up and you see this state of the art, brand new arena, with some wonderful people working on this project that I know are going to make a huge effort for this event – Worlds Collide, October 6 live and exclusively on DAZN across America, Sky Sports in the UK. This is a huge event and the first of our 16 fights across the year on DAZN. We are delighted to be in Chicago, a great fight city that we hope to really invigorate on October 6 in front of a huge crowd. It’s a new era of broadcasting and a great chance to build our shows from top to bottom. No linear construction, no blocks getting in the way. Live throughout the night, stacked nights continuously, giving fight fans exactly what they want.”

Joe Markowski, SVP DAZN North America:

“I’m personally very excited to be here representing DAZN at the very start of our journey here in the US. Let me start by saying that DAZN was built by fans for fans, and whilst our platform in good time will be carrying a huge range of multisport content bringing tremendous value and excitement to fans of all types, our launch and our first faze here in America is very focused on boxing and fight sports. The reason for that, is we feel that boxing and MMA fans have been underserved for far too long. We’re really excited to be announcing today our first card in the US here in Chicago with our partners at Matchroom for October 6. It’s a really solid and deep card featuring two World title fights, former World Champions, undefeated fighters, another instalment of the Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivalry during Hispanic Heritage Month. It really does promise to be a great night, a cracking show.”

Jessie Vargas – 28(10)-2-1 from Las Vegas, taking on Thomas Dulorme at Welterweight: “Thank you for the opportunity, it really is a pleasure. Thanks to Thomas Dulorme for stepping up to the plate and taking this challenge. I look forward to giving you great fights through DAZN, that’s the plan that we have. We have a great platform and we’re going to give you all excitement and all entertainment. I promise you that I will bring fireworks and I will bring entertainment. I am en-route to becoming a World Champion once again. I am a former two division World Champion. First of all, October 6 is going to be a great fight, Thomas Dulorme is a contender that always comes to give a showdown. He never lets you down, he always brings you action and when the name came up I said sure let’s do it! It doesn’t matter to me, whoever you want to put in front of me, I’m ready.”

Thomas Dulorme – 24(16)-3(2) from Puerto Rico, taking on Jessie Vargas at Welterweight: “Thank you for giving me this big opportunity. This is a great fight, it’s Mexico vs. Puerto Rico again!”

Artur Beterbiev – 12(12)-0 Russia fighting out of Montreal, Canada defending his IBF World Light-Heavyweight title against Callum Johnson: “First of all I would like to thank Matchroom Boxing for being part of this card in Chicago. If I’m not mistaken the trainer of my opponent said I have 13 wins and 13 KO’s, is he right? Because I only have 12 fight and 12 KO’s under my belt. Thank you very much for your time and see you on October 6.”

Callum Johnson – 17(12)-0 Light-Heavyweight from Lincoln, England challenging Artur Beterbiev for the IBF World Light-Heavyweight title: “I want to thank Matchroom, Eddie Hearn and DAZN for giving me this golden opportunity. I’ve dreamt of this moment since I was a little boy. Thanks to my trainer Joe Gallagher for getting me in this position. My last fight was a good win and it got me in the World rankings with the IBF and as Joe and Eddie said, nobody was taking this fight, nobody wanted to know. You only had to ask me once and I’m here. I’m coming to win the fight and I look forward to it. People are saying that I’m brave and as Joe said, fortune favours the brave.”

Joe Gallagher – trainer of Callum Johnson: “First of all I’d like to thank Matchroom, Eddie Hearn and DAZN for putting on this event. I’m really looking forward to this fight. Callum Johnson – 17 fights, 17 wins, 12 by knockout, going up against the World Champion Artur Beterbiev – 13 fights, 13 wins, 13 knockouts [incorrect as pointed out by Beterbiev]. I think the title of this show, Worlds Collide, sums up this fight. It’s a great fight, both haven’t been as active as they’d have liked to be over the past two years. There’s lots of questions to be answered by both fighters. Both have the power to knock each other out. Both can be knocked out. It’s an exciting fight. This is a huge opportunity and like Callum’s motto says – fortune favours the brave.”

Daniel Roman – 25(9)-2-1 from Los Angeles defending his WBA World Super-Bantamweight title against Gavin McDonnell from Doncaster, England: “Come October 6 I will be making the third defence of my World title and it won’t be my last one. I wish my best to Gavin and it will be a great fight and a great night.”

Tomasz Adamek – 53(31)-5(2) Poland fighting out of New Jersey, taking on Jarrell Miller at Heavyweight: “Thank you to Eddie Hearn for the opportunity to fight in Chicago again. 13 years ago was my first fight and I’m ready to go again on October 6 and October 6 is my day. We start our training camp on Monday. I want to say good luck to my opponent Jarrell Miller, I respect him, he is a good boy, a young boy. I am older and smarter, we will see who is better on October 6.”

Jarrell Miller – 21(18)-0-1 from Brooklyn, taking on Tomasz Adamek at Heavyweight: “Adamek made me kind of hungry when he called me a boy. He is a legend but when you fight a young stud like me, sometimes parents get their butt whipped. This young man is going to take it to pops. The Heavyweight division in booming right now. Adamek stepped up in the blink of an eye to take this fight and I take my hat off to him but bring the ambulance because it’s gunna be an early night. I’m not going to spend an extra round in that ring. AJ might be the best in England but he isn’t the best in America and that’s the way I see it. Hard work, dedication, cheeseburgers, let’s get it.”

Shawn Simpson – 8(3)-0 Bantamweight from Chicago in action on the undercard: “I want to thank Matchroom for giving this opportunity to fight on this card in my hometown in this beautiful arena. One day I hope to be where these guys are fighting for and defending World titles. On October 6th I’m going to put on a great show and show why I am one of the best Bantamweight prospects right now in boxing.”

Jessica McCaskill – 5(3)-2 Lightweight from Chicago in action on the undercard: “It’s so great to see everyone coming out today, it’s going to be a great fight on October 6th, all of the communities coming together for Worlds Collide. I’m definitely excited to represent Chicago as a Chicago fighter. I’m looking to get back into the World rankings and fight for a World title, this fight is going to take me there so make sure you st

The PBC on FS1 and FOX Deportes telecast is headlined by welterweight contender Jamal James returning to action in his hometown as he takes on Mexico’s Mahonry Montes. Middleweight contenders Willie Monroe Jr. and Immanuwel Aleem will square-off in the co-main event while rising prospect Jamontay Clark will take on once-beaten Jeison Rosario in a super welterweight showdown. Those five fights will play out over three hours of non-stop action, which begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Highlighting the non-televised undercard will be Minnesota-native and former super middleweight world champion Caleb “Golden” Truax as he returns to the ring after two straight world title fights to face Brazil’s Fabiano Pena in a 10-round super middleweight fight.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions and Warriors Boxing, are on sale now and are available by visiting www.ArmoryMN.com or Ticketmaster.com.

After representing his native Lithuania in the 2016 Olympics, Stanionis (6-0, 5 KOs) moved to California to train with legendary coach Freddie Roach and begin his pro career. The 23-year-old made his pro debut in April 2017 with a first-round knockout of Rasheed Lawal and followed it up with knockout wins in four of his next five bouts. Stanionis has scored stoppage victories over Hector Munoz and Erick Daniel Martinez so far in 2018 and will look to make it three-straight when he steps in for the eight-round welterweight affair.

Originally from the nation of Georgia but now fighting out of California, Ghvamichava (18-3-1, 13 KOs) has had his last four fights appear on FS1 and FOX Deportes broadcasts as he’s challenged former champion Sergey Lipinets and top contender Yordenis Ugas, while picking up victories over Oscar Molina and Breidis Prescott. The 33-year-old was unbeaten in seven straight fights after his first defeat in 2013.

Coached by renowned trainer Ronnie Shields in Houston, Ajagba (5-0, 5 KOs) has been impressive since turning pro after representing his native Nigeria in the 2016 Olympic games. The 24-year-old has five knockout victories in five pro fights so far, with only one opponent reaching the second round.

Truax (29-4-2, 18 KOs) became just the third Minnesota-born fighter to win a world title when he went on the road to the UK last December and defeated James DeGale in one of the biggest upsets of 2017. The Osseo-product lost a close decision in the rematch to DeGale in April and will return to action to take on the 30-year-old Pena (15-10-1, 11 KOs), who has faced numerous top contenders including Jose Uzcategui, Joe Smith Jr. and Tureano Johnson to name a few.

August 25: Mikaela Mayer Added to ESPN Telecast

GLENDALE, Ariz. (Aug. 8, 2018) — Mikaela Mayer turned pro last year intent on helping shine the spotlight on female boxing. Mayer, a Los Angeles native and 2016 U.S. Olympian, will get that opportunity Aug. 25 at Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona, when she takes on Edina Kiss in a six-round super featherweight bout, live on ESPN. Mayer vs. Kiss will be part of a special world championship event featuring Ray Beltran’s WBO lightweight title defense against Jose Pedraza and Isaac Dogboe’s WBO junior featherweight title defense against Hidenori Otake.

Beltran-Pedraza, Dogboe-Otake, and Mayer-Kiss will air live on ESPN and ESPN Deportes at 10:30 p.m. ET, with undercard action streaming live beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET. on ESPN+ — the new multi-sport, direct-to-consumer subscription streaming service from The Walt Disney Company’s Direct-to-Consumer & International (DTCI) segment in conjunction with ESPN.

Tickets to this world championship event, priced at $125, $75, $50, and $25, not including applicable fees, are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased at the Gila River Arena Box Office, by phone at 800.745.3000, or online at gilariverarena.com.

“Fighting live on ESPN is a dream come true and something I have been looking forward to since I made the decision to leave the amateur ranks and turn pro with Top Rank,” Mayer said. “I gave up my dream of an Olympic gold medal to step onto a bigger stage and to help take women’s boxing to the next level. Now, after years of fighting out of the limelight, I get to showcase my skills on the greatest sports network in the world.”

Mayer (6-0, 3 KOs) has become one of the most recognizable figures in female boxing after making her pro debut in August 2017. Mayer, who currently lives and trains in Colorado Springs, Colorado, will be making her fourth ring appearance of 2018. Kiss (14-7, 8 KOs), a one-time world title challenger from Budapest, Hungary, represents Mayer’s stiffest professional test to date. Mayer last fought June 30 in Oklahoma City, where she used a steady jab to outpoint the previously undefeated Sheena Kaine over six rounds. Mayer also fought May 12 at Madison Square Garden on the Vasiliy Lomachenko-Jorge Linares undercard, shutting out the game Baby Nansen over six rounds. She started her 2018 campaign with a 35-second knockout against Maria Semertzoglou on March 10 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Now, after a half-dozen pro bouts fighting on cards alongside some of the sport’s best fighters, Mayer is ready for her ESPN close-up.

The ESPN+ broadcast will feature 2016 Olympic gold medalist Robson Conceicao (8-0, 5 KOs) in an eight-round super featherweight bout against Edgar Cantu (7-4-2, 1 KO) and a pair of Phoenix natives, junior featherweight contender Carlos Castro (20-0, 9 KOs) and light heavyweight Trevor McCumby (23-0, 18 KOs). Castro will face Diuhl Olguin (13-10-3, 9 KOs), while McCumby will take on Jessie Nicklow (27-7-3, 9 KOs) in an eight-rounder.

In other undercard action:

Antonio Lozada Jr. (40-2, 34 KOs), who knocked out Felix Verdejo on March 17 in New York City, will look to continue his winning ways against Arturo Santos Reyes (19-10, 5 KOs) in a lightweight bout.

Unbeaten 140-pound contender Arnold Barboza Jr. (18-0, 6 KOs), coming off a 10-round unanimous decision against Mike Reed on March 10 in Carson, California, will make his return against Luis Solis (23-9-4, 20 KOs).

Super welterweight prospect Sagadat Rakhmankulov (2-0, 1 KO), a former Kazakh amateur star who is managed by Egis Klimas, will face Christian Aguirre (7-2, 3 KOs).

Breenan Macias (2-0, 1 KO), from Goodyear, Arizona, will face Philip Adyaka (7-11, 4 KOs) in a four-round bantamweight bout.

DeLomba faces unbeaten Moylette for 140-pound supremacy

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Wednesday, Aug. 8th, 2018) — Junior welterweight bragging rights are on the line Friday, Sept. 14th, 2018 at Twin River Casino as CES Boxing and Murphys Boxing team up to bring New England fight fans one of this year’s most highly-anticipated main-event showdowns.

Reigning UBF All-America champion and Rhode Island’s own Nick DeLomba (13-2, 3 KOs) returns to the Twin River Event Center for the first time in more than a year to face undefeated Irish junior welterweight and two-time amateur gold medalist Ray Moylette (11-0, 4 KOs) in the eight-round headliner of CES Boxing’s latest installment of the 2018 Twin River Casino Fight Series.

The event, promoted in associated with Ken Casey’s Murphys Boxing, also features the return of unbeaten Providence junior welterweight Anthony Marsella Jr. (9-0, 4 KOs) and hard-hitting Sicilian heavyweight Juiseppe Cusumano (16-2, 14 KOs), plus the debut of several new faces fighting in Rhode Island for the first time.

Tickets are priced at $47, $102, $127 and $152 and are available online at www.cesboxing.com or www.twinriver.com, by phone at 401-724-2253, or at the Twin River Casino Players Club. Showtime is 7 p.m. ET and doors open at 6. All fights and fighters are subject to change.

The 28-year-old DeLomba, a Cranston native, returns to Twin River and CES Boxing for the first time since of April of 2017 when he battled New Haven’s Jimmy Williams for the then-vacant WBC USNBC Welterweight Title.

Under the tutelage of R.I. ring legend Gary “Tiger” Balletto, DeLomba debuted in 2013 in unorthodox fashion with a six-round bout against Maine’s Jimmy Smith. He began his career with eight consecutive wins before suffering his first career loss in September of 2015 to New Yorker Gledwin Ortiz.

The resilient DeLomba resurfaced in 2016 with critical wins over New England rivalsFreddy Sanchez and Oscar Bonilla, then upset former Golden Gloves champion Amos Cowart in a dominant, eight-round unanimous decision win later that year. DeLomba has won back-to-back fights since facing Williams, including another signature win overLouis Cruz for the then-vacant UBF title. He’s won five of six overall heading into next month’s showdown with the highly-decorated Moylette and is now reunited with his original promoter, Jimmy Burchfield Sr. The two sides ironed out a new promotional agreement this past spring to bring the Rhode Island native back to CES Boxing.

Born in the Irish village of Islandeady, Moylette is coached by renowned trainer Paschal Collins, the brother of former two-time WBO champion Steve Collins, who also works with Irish middleweight star Gary “Spike” O’Sullivan.

As an amateur, Moylette won gold medals at the World Youth Amatuer Boxing Championships in Mexico and the European Amateur Boxing Championships in Turkey before signing with Murphys Boxing and the United Kingdom-based Assassin Promotions. After winning his professional debut in London in March of 2017, Moylette made his United States debut at the House of Blues in Boston two weeks later, beating Maine’s Matt Probin by unanimous decision.

Moylette has fought on U.S. soil seven times, most recently in June, and also boasts wins over Salem’s Matt Doherty and 64-fight vet Michael Clark, whom he stopped inside of two rounds.

Marsella Jr. also finds himself in a hotly-contested regional showdown as he faces Maine’s Brandon Berry (13-3-2, 8 KOs) in a six-round junior welterweight showcase. Marsella Jr. survived his toughest test to date in May against Ricardo Maldonado, scoring a late knockdown to secure the win, while Berry enters September fresh off a win over Francisco Medel last month.

Unbeaten Pawtucket, R.I., featherweight Ricky Delossantos (5-0, 1 KO) returns to face Jersey City vet Jose Ortiz (3-3-2, 1 KO) in a six-round bout and New England rivals Phil Dudley (1-1) of Warwick, R.I., and Worcester, Mass., native Ranse Andino (1-0) square off in a four-round featherweight bout.

Fighting at Twin River for the first time since joining the CES Boxing roster in the spring, Everett, Mass., lightweight Shayna Foppiano (1-0, 1 KO) battles Sarah Click (0-1) of Buzzards Bay in a four-round bout.

One of six fighters making his professional debut on the undercard, newly-acquired 6-foot-10 Nigerian heavyweight Raphael Akpejiori of Miami, a former college basketball and football player at the University of Miami, faces Omar Acosta (1-1, 1 KO) of Amarillo, Texas in a four-round heavyweight bout.

Also debuting, Fall River, Mass., junior welterweight Kris Jacobs battles Andy Aiello (1-1) of nearby Bridgewater and junior middleweights Victor Reynoso of Providence and Maurilio Alava of Ecuador make their professional debuts against one another in a four-round bout. Accomplished amateur Nicholas Briggs of Worcester makes his professional debut against fellow newcomer Jacob Wright of Decatur, Ala., in a four-round junior welterweight bout.

Cusumano returns fresh off his knockout win over James Price in July. The 6-foot-4 right-hander has now won 14 of his last 15 bouts, including 12 by knockout, six of which have occurred in the first round. He made short work of the 6-foot-8 Price, finishing at 1:40 of the opening round.

VARGAS, BETERBIEV, ROMAN AND MILLER STAR IN CHICAGO BILL

(Chicago, IL) Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing USA are delighted to confirm the line-up for the first American show live on DAZN at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago on October 6.

World-rated Welterweight and former two-weight World champion Jessie Vargas headlines the bill as he targets World honours in a third weigh class, and Vargas’ journey to that goal starts against former World Super-Lightweight World title challenger Thomas Dulorme, the Puerto Rican looking to derail the Las Vegas man’s ambitions at 147lbs.

Two great World title battles feature in the Windy City as crunching Russian puncher Artur Beterbiev defends his IBF World Light-Heavyweight strap against Briton Callum Johnson. Beterbiev has a perfect record of 12-0 with all wins coming via KO, but Johnson is an unbeaten feared puncher himself, having destroyed British champion Frank Buglioni inside a round of their clash in London in March – his 12th KO from 17 wins, pointing to this clash being one that promises to be a ferocious shootout.

Classy WBA World Super-Bantamweight champion Daniel Roman defends his crown for the third time against Britain’s Gavin McDonnell. Roman won his title on the road in Japan in brilliant style with a stoppage win over Shun Kobo and was fantastic in both his first defence back in Japan against Ryo Matsumoto and his second against Moises Flores in California. The Californian is hunting unification clashes but will need to be at his best once again against McDonnell, the Doncaster ace having his second crack World honours having learnt so much in his majority decision loss against WBC champion Rey Vargas in February 2017 – making for a fascinating clash that could catch fire and steal the show.

Heavyweight boxing is as hot as it’s ever been right now, and Brooklyn’s Jarrell Miller is right in the mix for the big fights. ‘Big Baby’ is looking to add win number 22 to his slate and force himself into the conversation at the top table, and the man in his way is Poland’s Tomasz Adamek, the former two-weight World champion who picked up and defended the Polish title in his last two fights in his homeland.

Along with these World stars, Chicago fight fans will be able to back two of their own on the night, with former World Lightweight title challenger Jessica McCaskill in action on the bill along with unbeaten Bantamweight prospect Shawn Simpson.

Tickets for October 6 go on sale at 3pm (CT) today (August 8) priced $40, $60, $100 and $200 and are available from:

JOSE SULAIMAN WBC WORLD INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT ANNOUNCES STACKED UNDERCARD OF CANADA’S FINEST INCLUDING:

Toronto, Canada (August 8, 2018):

Real Deal Sports and Entertainment and Lee Baxter Promotions in association with Louisville Top Knotch and the World Boxing Council, are proud to announce the undercard of the semi-final round of The Jose Sulaiman WBC World Invitational Tournament which will take place at Toronto’s famed lakeside amphitheater, Budweiser Stage on Saturday, August 25th.

Making his professional debut will be 2016 Olympian and one of Canada’s most decorated amateurs of all time, Arthur Biyarslanov who will take on Mexico’s Jair Baltazar (1-1) in a 4 round junior welterweight contest.

Biyarslanov was the 2015 Pan American Games Gold Medal Winner which took place in his hometown of Toronto and he achieved national stardom when he represented Canada in the 2016 Olympics. Now training in Montreal, Biyarslanov will return to Toronto to begin his highly anticipated professional career.

One of Quebec’s most popular and accomplished fighters, two time world title challenger, Dierry Jean (29-2-1, 20 KO) will return to the ring after a 2 year lay off in a 6 round welterweight contest against rugged Mexican veteran, Abraham Gomez (28-16-1, 13 KO).

In an exciting crossroads showdown, Alex Dilmaghani (17-1, 6 KO), who is on the verge of a world ranking, will face Halifax’s Tyson Cave (31-3, 13 KO), who is on 7 fight win streak since his controversial split decision loss for the WBA Interim World Title, in 10 round junior welterweight bout.

One of Toronto’s most promising local prospects, Kane Heron (11-0-1, 5 KO) will return to the ring for his third fight of 2018 as he looks to expand his growing following in the toughest fight of his career against Argentina’s Maximiliano Scalzone (16-2-1, 12 KO) in an 8 round welterweight contest.

Quebec’s most talked about young fighter, Mazlum Akdeniz (5-0, 2 KO) will continue his fast tracked career against Mexico’s Javier Pena (13-11-1, 6 KO) in what will be Akdeniz’s 4th fight of the year in a 6 round welterweight contest.

By popular demand, in a rematch of one the most exciting bouts in Canada’s women’s boxing history, Toronto native, Shelly Barnett (4-0-1) will face Mexico’s Guadalupe Rodriguez (3-1-1). Their action packed first contest in Toronto ended in a controversial draw this past April and both 118 pounders have agreed to go at it again.

Ukraine’s 3-time national amateur champion, Oleksandr Shytyi will make his professional debut against, Calgary’s Markhaile Wedderburn (2-3, 2 KO) in a 4 round cruiserweight bout.

Neeraj Goyat (9-2-2), the WBC Asian Welterweight Champion hailing from India will make his North American debut and defend his title against an opponent to be named in a 6 round bout.

Ioannis Birmpilis (3-0), a young fighter developing a large following in Toronto’s Greek community, will face an opponent to be named in a 6 round junior middleweight bout.

Last but not least, The Jose Sulaiman World Invitational Tournament’s alternate fighter, the highly regarded, heavy hitting Russian, Radzhab Butaev (9-0, 8 KO) will fight an opponent to be named in an 8 round welterweight contest. Butaev, who joins the tournament in association with DBE and Fight Promotions, will be elevated to the tournament if any of the tournament’s 4 semi-finalists fail to make weight or suffer a last minute injury. Butaev is replacing the tournament’s original alternate, Sergey Lubkovich, who suffered an injury forcing him to withdrawal from the tournament.

“This is hands down the best undercard I have matched in my entire promotional career.”, explains an excited Lee Baxter, President of Lee Baxter Promotions.

“It’s a who’s who of Canadian fighters, from prospects to contenders, all in competitive fights on literally the biggest stage of their careers. Several of these fighters have massive followings and to put them together on one event will create an electric atmosphere. This truly will be the boxing event of the summer in Canada, and, as the first fight card to take place at such a legendary and beautiful concert venue, it will be a historic night in Toronto boxing history.”

ABOUT THE JOSE SULAIMAN WORLD INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT

The Jose Sulaiman World Invitational Tournament, named after the late president of the WBC, is a single elimination bracket style tournament created by The Real Deal Boxing where 8 high level welterweights, representing different countries, compete over the course of three events to declare one winner who will be in position to fight for the WBC World Welterweight Title in 2019.

Saturday, August 25th in Toronto will be the semi-final round of the tournament and will see the quarterfinal winners face each other in co-main events when South Africa’s Chris Van Heerden (26-2-1), #22 in the world, takes on Ghana’s Fredrick Lawson (27-1), #15 in the world, and the USA’s Brad Solomon (28-1), #23 in the world, faces Mexico’s Francisco Santana (25-6-1), #13 in the world.

Besides the exciting action in the ring, the Jose Sulaiman World Invitational Tournament is receiving glowing praise from fans, media and athletic commissions for the initiatives it’s taking to make long overdue changes in the sport in three distinct categories.

Judging & Scoring

To combat one of boxing’s biggest issues, inexplicable if not downright awful judging and scorecards, the tournament features 5 judges as opposed to the regular 3. One for each side of the ring as well as one judge who watches the fight on a monitor with no sound. Halfway through the fight, scorecards are announced to the audience and the fighters so everyone is aware of how the 5 judges are viewing the bout. The first round of the tournament did not have a single controversial decision in 5 back to back 10-round fights and several fights had distinct momentum shifts after the cards were announced at the half way point. The Real Deal Boxing also developed a standardized scoring system that is given to judges in advance which clearly defines the way a round should be scored to eliminate any subjectivity from the equation. Last but not least, any bouts that end in a draw immediately head to a 11th and final round that judges must give to one of the fighters.

Instant Replay

A nearly universal request from fighters, fans and the entire boxing community, the tournament uses instant replay. In the case of a controversial or potentially wrong call, the incident in question is reviewed in between rounds, allowing officials to get it right every time. Instant replay helps assure the bout’s outcome and scorecards are never affected by a missed call, be it a slip ruled as a knockdown or a cut from an accidental headbutt ruled as punch or vice versa.

Fighter Safety

In the tournament’s first round fighters were required to undergo a pre fight MRI and post fight MRI (on the following day of the fight) regardless of the bout’s outcome. In addition, The Real Deal Boxing has it’s own internal team of physicians to oversee the health and safety of all the fighters on their roster, helping to address the inconsistent medical standards brought on by differing requirements from each regulatory authority. The expense of these additional medical and safety requirements is covered entirely by The Real Deal Boxing.

The Jose Sulaiman WBC World Invitational Tournament takes place Saturday, August 25th at Budweiser Stage in Toronto, Canada. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the first fight starts at 6:00 pm. Tickets are on sale now at www.ticketmaster.ca and start at $50. For more information visit The Real Deal Boxing and Lee Baxter Promotions.

The Jose Sulaiman World Invitational Tournament is proudly sponsored by Venum Fight Gear and Fight Wear.

FRAMPTON: I’LL LAY JACKSON OUT COLD

Boxing – Carl Frampton & Nonito Donaire Weigh-In – Europa Hotel, Belfast, Britain – April 20, 2018 Carl Frampton during the weigh in Action Images via Reuters/Jason Cairnduff

CARL FRAMPTON will turn nasty the moment he looks across the ring and sees Luke Jackson in the opposite corner.

He gets the chance to silence Jackson (16-0) when he defends his interim WBO featherweight crown against the Australian challenger at Belfast’s Windsor Park on Saturday August 18.

Jackson has angered Frampton suggesting he’s over the hill as a boxer and claimed he looks overweight in training.

That means an exciting night for 20,000 fans and viewers watching on BT Sport, but bad news for Jackson.

Frampton (25-1) said: “He has annoyed me a little bit, but not enough to take my mind off the game and be overly aggressive.

“He has annoyed me enough to wanna flatten him and put him out cold, properly.

“I haven’t knocked anybody out in a long time, but Luke Jackson is a guy who is going to get knocked out.”

Jackson, 33, has also teased Frampton over his amateur career claiming his experience in the London 2012 Olympics and other major championships betters the Belfast man’s achievements in the unpaid code.

Frampton added: “He keeps talking about his amateur career. Who give a f**k what he did as an amateur? He isn’t Vasyl Lomachenko.

“Let’s not forget he is based in Australia. If Australia sent a ten man team to box an international against Ireland they would get beat 10-0, and that’s a fact.

“His amateur career wasn’t even that good when you look at it.

“The reason Australia can send almost a full team to the Olympics is because they box Fiji, Samoa and Tonga.

“It is a lot easier qualifying process compared to what Ireland and GB have to go through for the Olympics.

“This is professional boxing and it’s almost a different sport. He will see on the night.”

Limited remaining tickets are available from www.ticketmaster.ie. priced at £80, £100, £120, £150, £250, £400 (includes hospitality). Buying tickets over the phone – 0844 847 2455. To purchase Accessible Seating – 0333 321 9996

The 10-round bout will take place at Whataburger Field, home to the Corpus Christi Hooks, the double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros.

In her last bout, Barrios, who is a devastating power-puncher, scored a sensational knockout against previously unbeaten foe, Aida “Lady Sparta” Satybaldinova (3-1-1). Barrios’ knockout over Satybaldinova, which many boxing pundits are saying is a candidate for “Knockout of the Year”, went viral on social media and YouTube. The Aztec Queen, from San Antonio TX, will look to shine once again when she steps in the ring in on Sept 8.

“I’m coming off a great performance and I’ll be looking to repeat what I did in the ring in my last bout,” said Selina Barrios, older sister to undefeated super-lightweight contender Mario Barrios (21-0, 13 KOs). “My goal every time I step in the ring is to give the fans their money’s worth. I love knocking out my opponents, and that will be my mindset going into this fight.”

Barrios, who captured the NABF Lightweight title in only her third pro fight, is considered by many as the next female super-star in boxing. Her aggressive fighting style is what her managers love most about her.

“There is no one in women’s boxing knocking out opponents like Selina Barrios,” said Kerry Daigle, Barrios’ advisor. “The Houston Astros organization is very thrilled to be showcasing Selina to their fans. Corpus Christi will once again get to see one of the most exciting female fighters in the world take her career to the next level. I really believe Selina Barrios will be the next great champion in women’s boxing.”

“Corpus Christi fell in love with Selina after seeing her devastating power in her last fight,” said Colin Campbell, who co-manages Barrios. “She brings an exciting fighting style that boxing fans want to see. The buzz is blazing with her fans in Corpus Christi as they await her return to the ring.”

“After Selina’s last fight, everyone in Corpus Christi was talking about her sensational knockout,” said Charles Campbell, who co-manages Barrios with his son Colin. “It’s beautiful to see everyone so excited about Selina. She’s transcending women’s boxing to a whole new level.”

NEW YORK – August 7, 2018 – SHOWTIME Sports will present Carl Frampton’s interim featherweight title defense and the second comeback fight of lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury on Saturday, August 18 live from Belfast, Northern Ireland. SHOWTIME BOXING INTERNATIONAL® will stream live exclusively to U.S. audiences on the SHOWTIME Boxing Facebook page and SHOWTIME Sports YouTube channel beginning at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT with an encore presentation later that evening on SHOWTIME EXTREME (10 p.m. ET/PT).

The August 18 event will be the network’s 24th live presentation of boxing through the first eight months of 2018. It will be the sixth live streaming boxing event of the year on SHOWTIME Sports social media platforms and the third from the United Kingdom as the network continues to deliver boxing’s biggest events from around the globe.

Former two-division champion Frampton will defend his interim WBO Featherweight Title against undefeated Australian contender Luke Jackson on the pitch at Windsor Park, where an expected 30,000 fans will witness the first boxing event at the home of Northern Irish football. In the opening bout, former IBF, WBA and WBO Heavyweight World Champion Fury will square off against two-time heavyweight title challenger Francesco Pianeta in Fury’s second comeback fight after a two-and-a-half year layoff.

Live coverage for the Frank Warren-promoted event will be provided by BT Sport with U.K. sportscasters John Rawling calling the action, Barry Jones providing analysis, and Ronald McIntosh conducting post-fight interviews for Fury-Pianeta. SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING® host Brian Custer and Hall of Fame analyst Steve Farhood will deliver pre-and post-fight analysis from New York for the SHOWTIME Sports audience.

The 31-year-old Frampton (25-1, 14 KOs), who rolled back the years with an inspired performance to win the interim WBO belt against Nonito Donaire in April, will face the unbeaten Jackson as he looks to earn a second world title in one of boxing’s deepest divisions. With a victory, Frampton will target blockbuster showdowns with WBA World Champion Leo Santa Cruz, WBC World Champion Gary Russell Jr., and IBF World Champion Josh Warrington, all of whom have appeared on SHOWTIME platforms in 2018. The WBO’s interim champion is also in line to fight full titlist Oscar Valdez, who is recovering from surgery to repair a fractured jaw.

Jackson (16-0, 7 KOs) was the captain of the Australian boxing team at the 2012 London Olympics and has won 16 consecutive fights since turning pro in 2013. The 33-year-old is confident he can upset Frampton in front of his hometown fans and earn a title shot in the deep 126-pound division.

Fury (26-0, 19 KOs) returned to the ring in June with a victory over Sefer Seferi, an outmatched opponent who retired on his stool after four rounds. Southpaw Francesco Pianeta (35-4-1, 21 KOs) represents a significant step-up in opposition for the 29-year-old Manchester native. Prior to his nearly three-year layoff, the 6-foot-9 Fury established himself as the premier heavyweight boxer in the world by becoming the first man to defeat Wladimir Klitschko in more than 11 years—and by taking the IBF, WBA and WBO world title belts from the Ukrainian great in the process.

Pianeta (35-4-1, 21 KOs), a 6-foot-5 southpaw who fights out of Germany, has twice challenged for the heavyweight world title. Pianeta faced then-unified champion WladimirKlitschko in 2013 and lost in a bid for a secondary title against Ruslan Chagaev in 2015. A win over Fury would could put the 33-year-old Italian native back in the heavyweight title picture.
