Star Boxing’s exciting contender EMANUEL “The Tranzforma” TAYLOR (18-3, 12 KOs) will provide undefeated ANTONIO “Relentless” OROZCO (21-0, 15 knockouts) with a stern threat in the 10-round super lightweight co-main event this Friday night, May 15th, at the US Airways Centre in Phoenix, Arizona. TruTV will televise live beginning at 10:00 PM/ET.

The Orozco-Taylor tilt will be on the undercard of undefeated WBA interim super lightweight world champion JOSE BENAVIDEZ, JR. in his first title defense, against Mexican standout JORGE “Maromerito” PAEZ, JR.

Orozco vs. Taylor is presented by Golden Boy Promotions, in association with Star Boxing.

“Emanuel is sure to give boxing fans another thrilling fight,” says Taylor’s promoter and Star Boxing president Joe DeGuardia. “Taylor has beaten elite opponents before, and almost pulled off the upset over Adrien Broner. I have confidence in a great performance. The winner will emerge as a rated contender in the junior welterweight division in line for a major fight.”

Taylor and Orozco were originally slated to fight on March 12th in San Antonio, but Orozco had to withdraw in February when he suffered a cut over his right eye in training.

Taylor, who returns to the ring with two of his last three victories coming by way of knockout, has turned back such top-flight fighters as once-defeated Raymond Serrano, no. 4 world rated Victor Cayo, and highly-touted Karim Mayfield. Orozco is a native of Tecate, Baja California, Mexico who fights out of San Diego, and has won seven of his last nine bouts by knockout. Impressive victories over Forbes, as well as seasoned veterans Martin Honorio, Ivan Hernandez and Miguel Huerta have propelled Orozco to No. 9 in the International Boxing Federation’s (IBF) junior welterweight world ratings.

Masternak-Muller set for June 6 in South Africa

Johannesburg, May 13 – Mateusz Masternak (35-2, 25 KOs) will face Johnny “The Hurricane” Muller (18-4-2, 13 KOs) on June 6 at the Emperors Palace in Gauteng, South Africa.

The cruiserweights clash is part of an action-packed night of boxing promoted by Rodney Berman’s Golden Gloves, and there will be a lot on the line as both men attempt to move another step closer to realising their world title ambitions.

Masternak is back on the world title trail following a run of three successive wins, including an impressive points victory over former cruiserweight king Jean Marc Mormeck. ‘’This was a big win for me,’’ said the Polish puncher. ‘’Mormeck is an amazing boxer, who has achieved a lot in his professional career, so to beat him in his own backyard meant a lot to me.’’

Now, “The Master” is eager to build on this success and continue his upward trajectory. ‘’I want to fight the best, beat the best and become world champion. Only then will I be satisfied,’’ revealed the 28 year-old.

To do so, he must first travel to Gauteng and overcome Muller in the South African’s home province. ‘’It’s not going to be an easy fight,’’ admits Masternak. ‘’Johnny is a good boxer and I have a lot of respect for him. I will need to be well prepared and in good form to beat him. But, I’m confident. If I didn’t believe in myself, I would have stopped boxing a long time ago. I just want to go to South Africa, get the win and come back home!’’

Muller has recently made the moved up to cruiserweight, where in his last two fights he has recorded wins over domestic rival Kevin Lerena and the Zambian hard man Donald Kampamba. Despite his early success at the cruiserweight limit, the world-ranked Masternak represents a significant step up for the South African talent.

‘’Mateusz is a big, strong fighter, and a good boxer too. It’s definitely my toughest fight to date,’’ said Muller, who is aware that victory over the Pole will catapult him into world title contention. ‘’I must out speed, outsmart and outpower him. I know he is a tough customer and easily the best I’ve fought, but if I beat him it will prove I’m ready to mix it with the big guys in the division.’’

Masternak’s promoter Nisse Sauerland is predicting an entertaining fight at Emperors Palace, which he claims ‘’neither fighter can afford to lose’’. ‘’This fight guarantees excitement,’’ said Sauerland. ‘’Both men want a shot at the world title and this is a fight neither can afford to lose. Mateusz is in the best form of his life. He is coming off the back of three good wins and I’ve never seen him hungrier or more focused. We know what Johnny is capable of. He is a real warrior, who always comes to fight. They say ‘styles make fights’, and this looks set to be an explosive encounter.’’

Muller’s promoter Berman echoed Sauerland’s sentiments, describing the fight as ‘’sink-or-swim’’ for both boxers. “I underestimated Masternak the first time I saw him,’’ said Berman. ‘’He’s better than I gave him credit for. He’s a big guy with a lot of power. He comes to fight and he’ll get a fight against Johnny. I think it’s sink-or-swim for them both in terms of championship aspirations. The winner will go on, the loser will have it all to do. I hope Masternak is ready for a war because that’s what Muller will bring.”

Erislandy Lara
CHICAGO (May 12, 2015) – Cuban boxing sensation Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara (20-2-2, 12 KOs) returns to the ring on Friday, June 12 to face veteran Delvin Rodriguez (28-7-4, 16 KOs) as Premier Boxing Champions heads back to Spike.

Additionally, Russian knockout artist Artur Beterbiev (8-0, 8 KOs) is set to square off against the ring-savvy Doudou Ngumbu (34-6, 13 KOs) of Haute-Garonne, France.

This edition of PBC on Spike begins at 9 p.m. ET. Doors at UIC Pavilion open at 5 p.m. CT with the first fight set for 5:30 p.m. CT.

“I’m very excited to be fighting on Spike TV on June 12th in Chicago.” said Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara. “Delvin Rodriguez is a tough veteran fighter who I respect. He has a lot of heart and determination. But once the bell rings I’m looking for the knockout!”

“On June 12, I am going to change everyone’s mind about me and show that I can beat Lara,” said Rodriguez.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by Warriors Boxing in association with Group Yvon Michel (GYM), are priced at $151, $101, $51, and $31, not including applicable service charges, and are on sale now. To charge by phone with a major credit card, call Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 or UIC Pavilion Box Office at (312) 413-5740. Tickets are also available at www.ticketmaster.com or by visiting the UIC Pavilion Box Office (Thursday or Friday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.).

The 32-year-old Lara is a slick boxer with the ability to deliver punishment while taking very little of it in return. Lara has notched victories over Alfredo Angulo, Austin Trout and Freddy Hernandez throughout his career. As an amateur, Lara won numerous titles including a national championship at welterweight and also participated in the 2007 Pan-Am games. The fighter originally from Guantanamo, Cuba but fighting out of Houston most recently defeated former world champion Ishe Smith on his way to his 20th professional victory.

Already deep into an accomplished career, the 35-year-old Rodriguez looks to give Lara a stiff test and entertain the crowd at UIC Pavilion on June 12. Having battled the likes of Miguel Cotto and Austin Trout, Rodriguez has also picked up victories over Mike Arnaoutis, Pawel Wolak and Shamone Alvarez throughout his accomplished career. Born in Santiago de le Caballeros, Dominican Republic but fighting out of Danbury, Connecticut, Rodriguez will look to improve on his last outing, a draw against Joachim Alcine in May 2014.

Having floored every opponent he’s faced professionally, the now 30-year-old former amateur standout Beterbiev will be seeking to keep his knockout streak alive in Chicago. Having notched impressive wins over Tavoris Cloud in 2014 and Gabriel Campillo earlier this year, the heavy-fisted Russian knows he’ll be tested with an experienced opponent on June 12.

Following a hard-fought loss to Andrzej Fonfara in November 2014, France’s Ngumbu rebounded nicely with a knockout win in January of this year. The battle-tested 33-year-old veteran will look to use his wealth of professional experience at UIC Pavilion in order to emerge victorious.

Amanda Serrano ‘Honored’ to Represent Women’s Boxing’s Return to Network Television

Amanda-Serrano-Boxing360_card
Women’s multiple-time world champion Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano says she considers it a great honor to be part of the return of women’s boxing to network television.

Serrano (23-1-1, 18 KOs), of Brooklyn, will face Plattsburgh, New York’s two-time world title challenger Jackie “The Force” Trivilino in a six-round super bantamweight rematch on Friday, May 29, at the WC Handy Pavilion on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee, and broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network (10:00 PM, ET).

Serrano vs. Trivilino will serve as one of the televised supporting bouts on a show, entitled “Championship Boxing on CBS Sports Network”, presented by Greg Cohen Promotions, in association with GH3 Promotions, Prize Fight Promotion and Adam Wilcock’s Fight Card Productions, produced by David Schuster’s Winner Take All Productions. Headlining the show will be a 10-round cruiserweight battle between Lateef “Power” Kayode (20-0, 16 KOs) and “Slick” Nick Kisner (14-1-1, 5 KOs).

In the co-main event, promising WBO #10 lightweight Josh King of Australia will make his US television debut in a regional title fight against Batesville, Arkansas’ Rogelio Casarez (9-3, 4 KOs). Also featured in televised action will be super middleweight Derrick “Take It to The Bank” Webster (18-0, 9 KOs) putting his undefeated record on the line in a six-rounder.

Tickets for “Championship Boxing” are priced at $20 General Admission and $30 VIP and are available by calling 901.900.2236.

Serrano will be facing Trivilino for the second time. The pair met in both of their pro debuts in 2009, with Serrano winning a majority decision. “I’m excited and ready,” she said. “I’m honored to have a team in place that can put me on TV and showcase women’s boxing across the country. Girls can fight too! It’s a great honor. I’m super pumped and getting ready to show my talent.”

“She (Trivilino) is the one that got away,” said Serrano’s career-long trainer, Jordan Maldonado. “We only won a majority decision against her. Jackie has got skills and is very tough and durable, but Amanda has progressed a long way since then. We will be looking to make a statement against Jackie. It’s awesome to have a promoter behind us that believes in female boxing. We’re ready to put on a great performance.”

David Schuster of Winner Take All Productions, who will be producing the May 29 show, is a close associate of both Maldonado and promoter Greg Cohen. It was Schuster along with Sarah Fina who arranged the co-promotional deal with the Serrano sisters, Amanda and Cindy, who signed with Cohen not long ago.

“I applaud Greg Cohen for having the courage to put female fighters back on national TV,” said Schuster. “I’ve been working with Jordan Maldonado and the girls since 2012 and they are ready to dominate. The Serrano sisters have the talent to not only produce ratings, but generate respect from both male and female fans of the sport. Amanda is one of the most feared female fighters in the world and that pool of talent includes Rhonda Rousey.”

“Amanda is a force of nature in the ring, of course I want her on national television” said Greg Cohen. “Women’s MMA has shown there is a market for talented fighters, regardless of gender and Amanda and Cindy are two fighters ready to take it to the next level as female ambassadors of a suddenly rejuvenated and thriving sport. It is my honor and pleasure to be making this rematch happen on CBS Sports Network.”

Several local favorites will be showcased on the night’s undercard. On fight night, doors open @ 6:00 pm. The live television telecast will run from 10 pm to 12 am EST on CBS Sports Network. For more information, visit www.gcpboxing.com.

We plan to do a lot of running and conditioning work to get set for this fight at Madison Square Garden, the home of champions. My parents are from Mexico and I feel good about training in Mexico City for the biggest fight of my career. Believe me, I am a whole lot better than all of those Verdejo has already faced in the ring. This is a real fight and I am thrilled that it will be in front of the fans at Madison Square Garden.”

“Only a select few fighters are worthy of headlining at the ‘Mecca Of Boxing’ and Top Rank is proud to present two of them on June 13,” said Todd duBoef, president of Top Rank. “The mighty Nicholas Walters, who has yet to have a world title fight go to the scorecards, and Felix Verdejo, Puerto Rico’s next big thing and the lineal successor in talent and popularity to his mentor Felix Trinidad, are the perfect boxing complement to Puerto Rican Day Parade Weekend — a partnership we innovated in 2005 and have developed into a highly-anticipated annual event.”

“On June 13, fans who love knockouts should cancel their Saturday night out and plan to watch HBO,” said Peter Nelson, Vice President of programming, HBO Sports. “Combined, Nicholas Walters and Miguel Marriaga have knocked out 87% of their opposition, and now they’ll face each other at Madison Square Garden’s Theater for the featherweight title. In addition, our co-feature spotlights the charismatic Puerto Rican sensation Felix Verdejo against game Mexican-American Ivan Najera in a clash of undefeated prospects.”

Walters (25-0, 21 KOs), from Montego Bay, Jamaica, has won 11 of his last 12 fight by stoppage. He captured the vacant WBA featherweight title on December 12, 2012, knocking out Daulis Presscott (26-1, 19 KOs) in the seventh round. He has successfully defended the title three times — all by knockout — stopping Alberto Garza, former two-division world champion Vic Darchinyan and 2012 Fighter of the Year and former four-division world champion Nonito Donaire in the fourth, fifth and sixth rounds, respectively. A former amateur standout who collected gold medals at the 2007 Pan American Games Qualifier III and the 2005 and 2007 Caribbean Championships, Walters is known for his expert boxing skills and movement and two-fisted punching power that are at a caliber of a much higher weight class.

Marriaga (20-0, 18 KOs), from Arjona, Colombia, enters this fight having won 12 of his previous 13 fights by way of knockout with 14 of his 18 knockouts coming in four rounds or less. Fighting mainly in Colombia and Mexico, Marriaga’s sole U.S. bout was last October in Santa Monica, a sixth-round knockout of Christopher Martin in a fight that televised nationally via ESPN’s Friday Night Fights. He is current;y world-rated No. 9 by the World Boxing Council (WBC). This will be the second time he has faced Walters. Marriaga defeated Walters in a 2008 Olympic qualifier.

Verdejo (17-0, 13 KOs), from San Juan, Puerto Rico, ended 2014 as a consensus “Prospect of the Year,” and enters 2015 as a contender to be reckoned with. He returns to the ring having won seven of his last eight fights inside the distance, including his most recent victory, a fifth round knockout of Marco Lopez, on April, 25, for the vacant WBO Latino lightweight title. Already world-rated No. 3 by the WBA, Verdejo, 21, continues to develop into a major gate attraction, producing standing room only crowds every time he fights. A former amateur standout who represented Puerto Rico in the 2012 Olympics, Verdejo has been mentored by Puerto Rican boxing icon and Hall of Fame inductee Felix Trinidad.

Najera (16-0, 8 KOs), from San Antonio, TX, is known for his crowd-pleasing aggressive style of fighting and good punching power. Texas boxing fans have been flocking to his fights because he delivers all-action performances. Najera made his national television debut on February 7, winning a unanimous decision over veteran Robbie Cannon in Najera’s toughest professional fight to date.

HEAVYWEIGHTS COLLIDE AS UFC® RETURNS TO SAN DIEGO ON JULY 15

ufc_title-belt_206
Las Vegas – UFC® will once again bring an action-packed card to Southern California when two of the heavyweight division’s toughest fighters, former two-time heavyweight champion Frank Mir and knockout artist Todd Duffee, collide. The heavy hitters meet at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego on Wednesday, July 15, the promotion’s first visit to San Diego since August 2010.

The former two-time UFC heavyweight champion, Mir (17-9, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nev.) is coming off a devastating first-round finish of Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in Brazil on Feb. 22, and has one of the most feared ground attacks in UFC history. Holding the record for most wins in the UFC heavyweight division (15), Mir’s resume includes victories over some of the world’s best in Minotauro Nogueira, Roy Nelson, Mirko Cro Cop and former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. Getting the fight to the ground will be key for Mir in this classic grappler vs. striker matchup as all of Duffee’s wins have come by way of knockout. Duffee (9-2, fighting out of Boca Raton, Fla.) owns the fastest knockout in UFC heavyweight history (:07 second KO over Tim Hague at UFC 102), and is coming off an impressive first-round finish over Anthony Hamilton at UFC 181 last December.

In addition, one of the sport’s fastest rising stars, No. 13 lightweight contender Al Iaquinta (12-3-1, fighting out of Wantagh, N.Y.) will meet hard-hitting, 11th-ranked Bobby Green (23-6, fighting out of Fontana, Calif.). With 24 finishes between the two, fans can expect an action-packed battle in a Fight of the Night contender.

Plus, former STRIKEFORCE® lightweight champion and ninth-ranked Josh Thomson (20-7, 1 NC, fighting out of San Jose, Calif.) makes his return to the Octagon® against The Ultimate Fighter Season 13 winner, No. 12 Tony Ferguson (19-3, fighting out of Ventura, Calif.). Currently riding a five-fight winning streak, Ferguson takes a big step up in competition as he makes his ascent to the top of one of the UFC’s most talent-rich divisions.

· Boise State wrestling standout Scott Jorgensen (15-10, fighting out of Boise, Idaho) makes his return to the bantamweight division when he meets highly decorated judoka Manny Gamburyan (17-9, 1 NC, fighting out of Hollywood, Calif.), a training partner of UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.

JONATHAN “MARAVILLA” ALONSO STAYS BUSY STATESIDE

New York, NY (5/12/15) – Undefeated junior welterweight prospect Jonathan “Maravilla” Alonso (5-0, 4KO’s) is making the most out of his recent trip stateside. Alonso was in action this past Friday, scoring a sensational second-round TKO over Jose Guzman in New York, on the DiBella Entertainment Broadway Boxing card at the Hilton Westchester. Following his victory, Alonso jumped on a plane and headed south to sunny Florida where he is set to serve as the lead sparring partner for the final two weeks of camp for former junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri as Algieri prepares for his upcoming headlining bout on Friday, May 29th, against Amir “King” Khan live on PBC on Spike from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. Alonso will be back

in action the following night, as he squares off against Ken Alvarez (6-1-2, 3KO’s) in the toughest fight yet of his young career. The bout against Alvarez will take place on the New Legend Boxing-promoted card at Resorts Casino in Queens, NY.

“This is amazing. It is truly a great experience to be in the camp with Chris and see how a world champion trains. His intensity and conditioning is phenomenal. This will be a great learning experience for me, and will go a long way for me and my career. I am very grateful,” said Alonso following his first sparring session with Algieri on Monday.

Alonso continued, “I was very fortunate to come out of my fight on Friday unscathed, and I am looking forward to training with Chris and helping him prepare for his upcoming fight against Khan as I prepare for my own fight the following night. Khan is very fast and very explosive, and those are two of my best qualities.”

The Dominican-native Alonso moved to Spain when he was a teenager, and took up the sport of boxing at 16. A natural athlete, having excelled in baseball, basketball and cycling, Alonso picked up the sport very fast, and in 2012 represented Spain at the Olympics. In 2014, the talented Alonso signed an exclusive co-promotional agreement with DiBella Entertainment (DBE) and DBE’s former middleweight kingpin Sergio Martinez’ Maravilla Box Promotions. Alonso made his pro debut in August of last year in NYC, before returning to Spain. The 24-year-old Alonso is already 3-0 in 2015, and will be looking to make it four in a row when he takes on the once-beaten Alvarez.

MAYWEATHER vs. PACQUIAO EVENT SHATTERS RECORDS FOR PPV BUYS, PPV REVENUE, LIVE GATE AND MORE

Pacquiao_Mayweather_150502_007a
NEW YORK (May 12, 2015)—The boxing blockbuster event, Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao, shattered the previous record for total pay-per-view buys and now ranks as the highest-grossing pay-per-view of all time. Initial reports from distributors indicate that the event generated more than 4.4 million U.S. buys and more than $400 million in domestic pay-per-view revenue alone. With additional revenue from the live gate at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, international television distribution, sponsorships, closed circuit and merchandise sales, the event is expected to generate in excess of $500 million in gross worldwide receipts. The news was announced jointly by Showtime Networks Inc., a subsidiary of CBS Corporation, and HBO in conjunction with event promoters Mayweather Promotions and Top Rank, Inc.

The welterweight world championship unification bout nearly doubled the previous record of 2.48 million buys generated by the Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing event in 2007 and nearly tripled the record $150 million in U.S. pay-per-view revenue generated by Mayweather vs. Canelo Alvarez in 2013.

Live gate receipts for the star-studded event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena produced more than $71 million in revenue, dramatically eclipsing the previous live gate record of $20 million (for Mayweather vs. Canelo) for both the sport of boxing and Las Vegas.

Additionally, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao set the record for closed circuit admissions and revenue both in Las Vegas and at establishments nationwide. The event sold nearly 46,000 closed circuit admissions at MGM Resorts International properties in Las Vegas alone and was available at more than 5,000 bars, restaurants and commercial establishments throughout the U.S.

Distributed in 175 countries worldwide, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao was available in essentially 75 percent of the world’s territories, setting the revenue record for international distribution.

As reported last week, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao drew enormous numbers on social media. For example, Facebook reported that 37 million unique people contributed more than 115 million interactions from the start of the event to 30 minutes following its completion, a new record for a boxing event.

The May 2 promotion included unprecedented marketing and cross-promotional support from distributors as well as record revenue from the event’s major sponsors.

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao was a 12-round welterweight world championship unification bout promoted by Mayweather Promotions and Top Rank Inc., and co-produced and co-distributed by HBO PPV® and SHOWTIME PPV®.

MARIO BARRIOS REMAINS UNDEFEATED WITH 6TH ROUND KNOCKOUT

SAN ANTONIO, TX (May 12, 2015) – This past Saturday at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas, Super-Featherweight sensation, Mario Barrios (9-0, 5 KOs), remained undefeated with a spectacular 6th round knockout over Jose Del Valle (4-11-3) from Puerto Rico.

“Fighting Del Valle was a great experience for me because he was just as tall as me standing around 6’2,” said Mario Barrios. “I got a lot of rounds and got the knockout in round 6. I’m ready to make a quick return to the ring and take my career to the next level with Al Haymon. I’m very happy with the way my career is going. I’ll be looking to return sometime this summer.”

Standing 6’1, Barrios is on the fast track to super stardom. Managed by Al Haymon, Barrios will most likely make his return to the ring next month. Look for Barrios to move to 8-round bout in the very near future.

SATURDAY’S FIGHT NIGHT AT THE HORSESHOE HAMMOND TO FEATURE TOP CHICAGO PROSPECTS

CHICAGO — May 12, 2015 — Some of Chicago’s most exciting prospects return to the ring this Saturday night for Fight Night at the Horseshoe Hammond, presented by Hitz Boxing. In March, a capacity crowd enjoyed exciting fights and an electric atmosphere at the Horseshoe, and this Saturday, May 16th, will be no different for fight fans in attendance. With veteran promoter Bobby Hitz at the helm, Hitz Boxing is the busiest promoter in Chicago, and has become known for showcasing Chicago’s top boxing talent.

Boxing fans love a good heavyweight matchup, and Nick Asberry (7-0, 3KO) versus Lyle McDowell (28-13-1, 19KO) will deliver on Saturday night. The unbeaten Asberry spent much of his training camp for this fight with Bryant Jennings, who went the distance with Wladimir Klitschko in April. Asberry will be looking to keep his ‘O’ while facing a far more experienced opponent in McDowell, who has been in the ring with Bermaine Stiverne, Malik Scott and Samuel Peter.

Light heavyweight Samuel Horowitz returns to the ring in his third professional fight, facing Ramira Thomas in a four round bout. Horowitz will be joined in the corner by actor and 2015 International Boxing Hall of Fame Master of Ceremonies John Seda, who stars as detective Antonio Dawson in the NBC crime drama Chicago PD. The actor, who was an amateur boxer himself, has been a fixture at Hitz Boxing events.

Chicago welterweight Ed Brown (3-0, 3KO) will be stepping into the ring for the first time since signing with mega-manager Cameron Dunkin and Chicago boxing staple Mike Cericola. The former Chicago Golden Gloves standout made headlines when he faced the experienced Dontre King in his debut. King had over 20 fights when he faced Brown, who made short work of the fighter, knocking him out in the first round. He faces Reymundo Hernandez (6-18, 6KO) Saturday night at the Horseshoe Hammond.

Fidel Navarrete (8-0-2, 4KO), whose all-action style has made him a fan favorite, faces California’s Salvador Perez in a four round featherweight bout. Navarrete, who is also managed by Dunkin and Cericola, will be in his 11th fight since his professional debut in 2013. All of Navarrete’s fights have been under the Hitz Boxing banner.

Shawndell Winters faces Michigan’s Michael Perez in a four round bout at cruiserweight. This is Winters’ debut fight, and his first under his newly minted promotional agreement with Hitz Boxing. “He’s hungry, he wants to fight, and he had a great reputation coming out of the amateurs,” said promoter Bobby Hitz of the new signee.

Rounding out the card, Harry Langhurst makes his long-anticipated debut against Albert Harkins in a light heavyweight bout. Israel Echevarria faces Will Chaloutte and Nate Gallimore faces Jeffrey Wright.

“We are excited to return to the Horseshoe Hammond after our sell out card in March,” said promoter Bobby Hitz. “Chicago really comes out to support its own, and we’ve got some great Chicago fighters on this card.”

Doors to The Venue at Horseshoe Hammond open at 6:00 Saturday, and first bell is at 7:00. Tickets are priced $90, 40 and 30, and are available at all Ticketmaster outlets. Boxing fans must be 21 years and older to attend events at the Horseshoe Hammond.

Haskins expects Iwasa to be the best fighter he’s ever faced

BRISTOL (12 MAY) By Lee Haskins: I thought it was a little bit of a joke at first. I’ve waited all this time for a world title shot and then it just suddenly happens. When I was told we’d landed the fight with Ryosuke Iwasa for the IBF interim world title, I questioned whether it was real or not. But then I realised it was real and I’m ecstatic. It couldn’t have come at a better time.

In all honesty, I was expecting to have to defend my European title at some point. That’s what I thought my next fight would be – a defence of that belt. I was fine with that as well. I’ve waited long enough for a world title shot. It didn’t bother me if I had to wait a bit longer.

Also, I definitely thought I’d have to go to Japan for the Iwasa fight. They’re big players out there and they’ve got the money to ensure all of his fights are at home. But, for some strange reason, they didn’t mind sending him over here and Mick Hennessy and Chris Sanigar were able to get it done. That was a massive bonus for me.

I’d never heard of Iwasa or looked him up in the past. It was only when I heard his name mentioned, and the fight was there in front of me, that I looked at a couple of clips of him in action. I didn’t look him up straight away, though. I just headed to the gym and got to work.

Jamie (Sanigar) was the one who eventually showed me a couple of clips of him and I just took a look and then went back to work. I leave all the watching of videos and research to my team because sometimes you can read too much into what you see and think your opponent is better than they actually are. You’re better off just worrying about yourself and making sure you are on form.

From what I did see, though, you could tell Iwasa’s going to be a very good fighter. He’s upright, he’s technically good and he does the basics very well. His one-two is good and he really likes his back-hand. That’s going to be a shot we’ll have to look out for on June 13.

All in all, Iwasa has to be the best guy I’ve boxed. That’s the way I’m approaching this fight. I’m training more than ever before, I’m more determined than I’ve ever been and I’m looking at this guy as the best opponent I’ve ever fought. I’m thinking he’s 100 times better than me, 100 times stronger than me and 100 times faster than me. So I’ve got to raise my game.

I’m a very different, awkward kind of fighter, though. I use lots of angles and lots of moves Iwasa probably won’t have seen before. I’ve got a style that’s hard to prepare for. I have a lot of sparring partners I’ve been sparring for a long time and they still can’t work me out.

I believe this unpredictability will hand me an advantage on the night, but we shall see. You never truly know how your style matches up with someone until you get in there and start the feeling-out process.

The thing is, at this level, you can’t expect an easy touch. You’re going to have to fight these top fighters. Also, this is a world title fight. You don’t get easy opponents in world title fights. Some people might have been lucky in my division in recent years, but good for them. We won’t mention any names.

SENIESA ESTRADA RETURNS ON MAY 16 HBO BOXING CARD

EAST LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, U.S.A. – On Saturday night, May 16, 2015, undefeated 22-year-old flyweight women’s professional boxer Seniesa Estrada (East Los Angeles, CA/pro record: 3-0-0, 1 KO) faces Carly Batey (United Kingdom/pro record: 4-4-2, 0 KOs) in a six-round, non-televised, undercard bout on the HBO World Championship Boxing card at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The HBO Boxing card is presented by K2 Promotions and GGG Promotions, in association with Banner Promotions. In the televised main event, Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (32-0, 29 KOs) will defend his WBA/IBO and interim WBC Middleweight World Titles against Willie Monroe (19-1, 6 KOs).
Estrada, a Mexican-American, last fought on March 14, 2014, when she defeated Blanca Raymundo via second round knockout. Seniesa had a lengthy amateur career, compiling an impressive record of 97-4. She currently works with boxing trainer Dean Campos at Gamboa Boxing & Fitness, located in Whittier, California. Campos also trains middleweight contender Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora.

Dean Campos said, “Seniesa has been dedicated in the gym and is prepared for her fight. Carly Batey is physically bigger, and has fought at bigger weight classes, but Seniesa is stronger, and more skilled. We’re grateful for the opportunity to be on such a great card and looking forward to showing everyone what Seniesa can do. It is a great opportunity for her to help women’s boxing gain exposure.”
Seniesa Estrada said, “I am very thankful to fight so close to home on May 16 at the Forum. Being on such a great card with the talented GGG is terrific exposure for myself and women’s boxing. I have been working hard in the gym and look forward to putting on a great performance. My opponent, Carly Batey, is coming all the way from the UK. I know she is coming to fight and will give it her all. I am prepared physically and mentally and ready to display my skills and talent.”
Estrada discussed the current state of women’s boxing in the United States. “I’m working very hard in the gym, and I’ve built a great team around me. My success depends on the work I do, both inside and outside the gym, plus the support I receive from the boxing fans, significant promoters, and the major networks. I have put fifteen years of hard work into women’s boxing. Ronda Rousey has become a star in the UFC, and I believe those same accomplishments are possible in professional boxing. It has been very difficult finding fight opportunities in the U.S. Every week, there are boxing cards all over the country, however, few have women featured on them. In almost every boxing gym, you can find women training along with the men.
I believe women can be superstars, too. We just need a chance to show what we can do. Self-promotion and selling tickets are easier when you have the backing of a major promoter or the promise of getting television time. Getting on a stacked card like the one on May 16 is a great start. I can’t wait to participate in the promotional opportunities that come with a fight of this magnitude. GGG is a rising star and a great ambassador for my sport. I’m honored to share the stage with him.”
Estrada continued, “Thank you Roy Englebrecht, Tom Loeffler, K2 Promotions, GGG Promotions, Artie Pellulo, and Banner Promotions for including women on this major HBO Boxing card. I can’t thank my super sponsor Oscar A. Sanchez enough for everything he has done for me in preparation for this fight. I’m grateful to have him as a part of my team.”
Tickets for Estrada’s fight on May 16 at The Forum are on sale now and priced at $300, $200, $100, $60 and $30, plus taxes and fees. They can be purchased at The Forum Box Office, located at 3900 W. Manchester Blvd., Inglewood, CA, 90305. They can also be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com, or charged by phone at +1 (800) 745 3000.

The 34-year-old Arreola defeated Curtis Harper in a thrilling heavyweight showdown on March 13 in Ontario, Calif. Born in Escondido, Calif. but fighting out of Los Angeles, Arreola has long been one of the most feared punchers in the heavyweight division. Having challenged the best in the division, Arreola knows what it takes to succeed at this level and looks to entertain his hometown fans on June 6.

A hard fighting Mexican warrior born in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico but fighting out of Coachella, Calif., Angulo is looking for a big victory in front of his adopted hometown fans. Always ready to challenge the best in the sport, the 32-year-old has gone toe-to-toe with some of the best fighters in the world and holds knockout victories over Gabriel Rosado, Joachim Alcine and Joel Julio.

A fast-rising star out of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Cuellar looks to make it 10 victories in a row when he battles Darchinyan on June 6. His power in both hands has led him to six knockouts of his last nine victories including a second round destruction of Puerto Rican icon Juan Manuel Lopez in Sept. 2014. The 28-year-old will make his first career start in California when he enters the ring at StubHub Center.

Looking to put himself back into the discussion of top featherweights, the 39-year-old Darchinyan comes in with the kind of experience to topple the explosive Cuellar. A former world champion, the fighter from Armenia who fights out of Glendale, California is coming off of a ninth-round TKO over Juan Jimenez in February of this year. Having fought against top contenders such as Abner Mares, Nonito Donaire and Nicholas Walters, Darchinyan also owns victories over Yonnhy Perez, Jorge Arce and Cristian Mijares.

BELLATOR MMA SIGNS ONE OF THE MOST DOMINANT COLLEGE WRESTLERS OF ALL-TIME, OLYMPIC CONTENDER ED RUTH

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (May 11, 2015) – Bellator MMA is proud to announce the signing of one of mixed martial art’s most sought-after prospects, Ed Ruth. A dominant and decorated collegiate wrestler, Ruth joins Bellator MMA with an exclusive, multi-fight deal.

The 25-year-old’s focus is currently set on the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, where the general consensus is that he will be a shoo-in to compete in the 86kg. division.

“I’ve known for a long time now that after I get Olympic gold around my neck, I was going to go get some MMA gold for my waist,” said the phenom Ruth. “I’ve been talking with all the major organizations, and at the end of the day, I really believe in what Scott Coker is doing with Bellator. They’re signing the top talent, they’re putting on exciting fights, and they’re letting me secure my own sponsors. It will be a little while until I step into the cage for the first time — but when I do, everyone they put in front of me is in for a world of hurt.”

Ruth attended High School at Blair Academy in Susquehanna Township, PA, where he was the top-ranked recruit in Nation for his weight class. Ruth would elect to stay local and attend wrestling powerhouse Penn State University. The masterful grappler added three National Championships and four All-American accolades to his trophy room while wrestling with the Penn State University’s Nittany Lions.

The three-time national champion joins blue-chip amateur wrestling prospect Aaron Pico on the roster. Both competitors will turn their focus to MMA following the Olympic Games next year. When the time comes, Ruth will be competing in Bellator’s middleweight division alongside current title-holder Brandon Halsey, Kendall Grove, Rafael Carvalho, Joe Schilling, Alexander Shlemenko, Melvin Manhoef, amongst others.

Susan Reno vs. Paola Ortiz II Slated for Friday Night in Brooklyn

Brooklyn, N.Y. (Monday, May 11, 2015) – Ronson Frank’s Uprising Promotions will be returning to the Brooklyn Masonic Temple this Friday night, featuring a highly anticipated rematch between Susan Reno and Paola Ortiz in women’s light flyweight action. The duo last met on a February installment by Uprising Promotions, and this upcoming contest will be a historical one. For the first time in New York women’s boxing history, the bout will feature three-minute rounds over its six frames.

“I feel that it can only benefit us,” Reno said of fighting three-minute rounds. “A lot gets lost when there are two-minute rounds. Things get going so fast and then, all of a sudden, the bell rings. Judges are human, too, and they have to just go with what they think they are seeing. I really feel like the longer rounds will benefit both the judges and the fighters. We are used to sparring and training for three-minute rounds, so this will give us the opportunity to go in there, think more and perform better.”

Standing opposite Reno on Friday night will be Ortiz, whose trainer Aaron Navarro also feels that the longer rounds will make for a more entertaining fight.

“With it being three-minute rounds, this should be an even better fight than last time,” he stated. “The girls always seem to have a way of stealing the show, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them do it again with this fight here.

“Given the last fight, I feel like we will be starting this one as if it is round number five. These two know each other a little bit better now. That takes some of the unknowns out of the equation, so they will both just get in there and go to work. Paola has a pretty aggressive straight-forward style, so she will never be in a boring fight.”

The stable of fighters who are trained by Navarro are often on the short list for promoter Ronson Frank, and Navarro says that he always enjoys participating on an Uprising Promotions card.

“Even though we are down here in Texas, I have worked on several Uprising shows with different fighters,” Navarro remarked. “They always put on good shows where fighters are matched for good, entertaining fights. That’s one of the main reasons they always have a full house. This fight keeps with their normal formula to put on good fights that people will want to watch.”

If its first installment is any indication, the rematch between these two exciting boxers is certain to provide high entertainment value once again.

“People can expect to see more strategy this time, a little more chess than checkers,” Reno concluded. “Those two-minute rounds, especially when there is only four two-minute rounds, there is definitely an anxiety to get in there and get it done. Now, with six three-minute rounds, I can finally feel comfortable doing what I know I can do without feeling the pressure to rush into everything.”

Also set for action on this card is fan favorite super featherweight Gary “Kid” Stark Jr. (23-3, 8 KOs), who is ending a nearly five-year layoff against Jose Silveria of Mexico. Stark, who started his career with 18 consecutive wins, suffered chronic shoulder problems that eventually sidelined him in 2010, and the long road back to the boxing ring will now finally end on Friday night. Prior to turning professional, Stark created a huge buzz for himself after becoming a three-time New York City Golden Gloves Champion and reaching the Olympic Trials.

Also on this show, Brooklyn native Delen “Sniper” Parsley (11-1, 3 KOs) returns against Bronx native Troy Artis. The bout ends a nearly year layoff for the talented middleweight, who brings an imposing 6-2 frame into the ring. In his last outing, Parsley handed Marcus Beckford his first career loss in May of 2014. A professional of nearly six years, Parsley has impressive wins over battle-tested Ibahiem King and then-unbeaten Boyd Melson on his resume.

Queens native Devaun Lee (3-1, 1 KO) also returns on Friday night, facing Haitian middleweight Deferson LeGrand (3-2, 2 KOs). A super welterweight scrap between Villi Bello (1-1) and Jonathan Jeter is another contest currently on the fight sheet as well. Also on tap are two lightweight affairs, one pitting Victor Vasquez against Joey Arroyo, and another where Hamzah Muhammed and Mark Brown will meet in their pro debuts.

Other fighters slated to compete on the card include three hard-hitting unbeatens in super bantamweight Marcos Forestal (2-0, 2 KOs), who made his pro debut on the last Uprising Promotions show in February, featherweight Neslan Machado (9-0, 7 KOs) and super middleweight Ian Green (4-0, 3 KOs).

September 2014 marks the last time that Uprising Promotions held a show at the Masonic Temple, which is located at 317 Clermont Ave #4 in Brooklyn. The intimate setting ensures that there is not a bad seat in the house, and tickets are priced at $60 for general admission and $100 for ringside seating. There is also a table option with dinner, beer/wine and seating with a celebrity fighter. For pricing on those tables, call (516) 451-6773.

This show, titled Last Man Standing, will continue the initiative of Uprising Promotions to KO Autism, with proceeds from the night getting donated to The School For Language and Communication Development (SLCD) in Glen Cove, New York. This card is being sponsored by Ronson Frank Fitness, Sleep Inn, Belaire Rosé Champagne, Alma Restaurant, Resolution Sports and Charlie’s Auto Collision in Long Island City.

Lateef Kayode
On Friday, May 29, Greg Cohen Promotions, in association with GH3 Promotions, Prize Fight Promotion and Adam Wilcock’s Fight Card Productions, produced by David Schuster’s Winner Take All Productions, proudly announce the return of “Championship Boxing,” which will air live on CBS Sports Network (10:00 PM, ET) from the WC Handy Pavilion on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee.

Headlining the night will be an intriguing 10-round cruiserweight battle between long-time undefeated contender Lateef “Power” Kayode (20-0, 16 KOs) and once-beaten “Slick” Nick Kisner (14-1-1, 5 KOs). In the co-main event, promising WBO #10 lightweight Josh King of Australia will make his US television debut in a regional title fight against Batesville, Arkansas’ Rogelio Casarez (9-3, 4 KOs).

Also featured in televised action that night will be women’s superstar Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano (23-1-1, 18 KOs) in a super featherweight showcase, as well as super middleweight Derrick “Take It to The Bank” Webster (18-0, 9 KOs) putting his undefeated record on the line.

Tickets for “Championship Boxing” are priced at $20 General Admission and $30 VIP and are available by calling 901.900.2236.

32-year-old Lateef Kayode was born in Lagos, Nigeria but resides in California. Known for his immense strength and punching power, Kayode has been a top contender at 200 lbs for many years and is the current WBO-NABO and NABF Cruiserweight Champion. He is trained by four-time Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach. Kayode has also held the WBA-NABA Cruiserweight Championship. In 2013, Kayode fought to a draw with multiple world champion Antonio Tarver.

A naturally fluid boxer with superb skills, 24-year-old Nick Kisner hails from Baltimore, Maryland. As an amateur, and among countless distinctions, Kisner was a three-time National Silver Gloves Champion and Ringside World Champion. He holds the distinction of being the youngest boxer in American history (17) to ever win a Men’s National Title in the Heavyweight Division. As a professional, Kisner’s two losses are a controversial draw in the opponent’s hometown and a split decision loss to fellow top prospect Junior Wright in Wright’s hometown of Chicago.

29-year-old Josh King is from Townsville, Queensland, Australia. As a professional, he has already held the Australian Super Lightweight and WBF World Super Lightweight titles and is the current WBO Oriental Lightweight and WBO Asia Pacific Lightweight Champion. As an amateur, King was 50-15 and a five-time Australian and five-time Golden Gloves Champ, among many distinctions.

26-year-old southpaw Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano (23-1-1, 18 KOs) is a former Staten Island amateur champion, New York City Golden Gloves amateur champion, and Empire State amateur champion. She turned professional in 2009 and has already won the NABF Featherweight, Universal Boxing Federation World Featherweight, Women’s International Boxing Association World Featherweight, IBF World Super Featherweight, Universal Boxing Federation InterContinental Super Featherweight, and WBO World Lightweight Championships. She is currently ranked # 1 by the International Boxing Federation (IBF), #2 by the World Boxing Association (WBA), and in the World Boxing Council (WBC) is ranked #5 at the featherweight.

Throughout his pro career, 32-year-old southpaw Derrick Webster has trouble finding opponents. At 6′ 4″ the towering super middleweight with the heavyweight reach is a handful for anyone in the world. Webster has worked as a sparring partner for former WBC and IBO Light Heavyweight Champion Jean Pascal, Super Middleweight Champion Andre Ward, Roy Jones Jr., Bernard Hopkins, light heavyweight king Sergey Kovalev and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

“It’s great to be back in Memphis, working with my good friends Brian and Russ Young,” said Greg Cohen. “This will be a world-class event, featuring a mix of championship contenders and local talent. The card will be stacked from top to bottom with action-packed bouts that will have the crowd on Beale Street energized all night long. This is a truly special event and I couldn’t be more pumped!!”

Several local favorites will be showcased on the night’s undercard. On fight night, doors open @ 6:00 pm. The live television telecast will run from 10 pm to 12 am EST on CBS Sports Network. For more information, visit www.gcpboxing.com.

MAY 22 HEAVYWEIGHT CLASH BETWEEN POVETKIN AND PEREZ LIVE ON BOXNATION AS PAIR EYE UP WILDER’S WBC CROWN

alexander_povetkin
LONDON (May 11) – The titanic heavyweight clash between big-hitters Alexander Povetkin and Mike Perez to see who will be next up for a shot at Deontay Wilder’s WBC title will be screened live and exclusive on BoxNation on May 22.

The pair meet at Luzhniki Arena in Moscow as they compete in a final eliminator for a chance to fight for the illustrious WBC green belt which was captured by the flashy and charismatic Wilder earlier this year when he overcame the brave Bermane Stiverne.

Povetkin and Perez, rated number one and two respectively by the WBC, are two of the very best heavyweights around and share only a single defeat each on their records, with 35-year-old Povetkin’s coming against the legendary Wladimir Klitschko two years ago.

Now though, having accumulated 28 wins in 29 fights, 20 from knockout, the sturdy Povetkin will be fighting in front of his home fans as he takes on the well schooled Cork based Cuban Perez who has 21 victories, with his one loss a narrow split decision to Bryant Jennings.

Wilder is expected to fight this summer and should he come through unscathed it would set up an intriguing battle with either man later this year.

The heavyweight division has been on the rise of late with an injection of talented new blood who are eager to put an end to the past decade of Klitschko brother dominance.

Following the retirement of older sibling Vitali, who held the WBC belt, Wladimir is still flying the flag but is set to face British heavyweight sensation Tyson Fury next up.

In other action on the Povetkin-Perez card, WBC cruiserweight champion Grigory Drozd (39-1, 27 KOs) will be facing former champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk (49-3, 35 KOs), with the two having met last September in a fight which Drozd won on points.

Other bouts include 2008 Olympic gold medalist Rakhim Chakhkiev (22-1, 17 KOs) against Mirko Larghetto (22-1-0, 14 KOs) and fearsome knockout artist Dmitry Kudryashov (17-0, 17 KOs) is up against fellow cruiserweight Vikapita Meroro (28-4, 14 KOs).

Also, former heavyweight title challengers Manuel Charr (27-3, 16 KOs) and Alex Leapai (30-6-3, 24 KOs) clash in a crossroads contest.

Arthur Abraham (42-4, 28 KOs) is set to reignite his feud with super middleweight rival Robert Stieglitz (47-4-1, 27 KOs) on July 18 at the Gerry Weber Stadium in Halle, Germany. The boxers meet for a fourth time, with the WBO crown on the line, following a memorable trilogy of world championship fights.

‘’The battle for super middleweight supremacy continues,’’ said promoter Kalle Sauerland. ‘’I’m hard pressed to think of any other trilogy in modern boxing history that has provided such a high level of drama. For that reason, we go again. On July 18, for an unprecedented fourth time, Arthur and Robert will contest the WBO super middleweight title.’’

Abraham and Stieglitz first met in August 2012, where a points decision earned Abraham the WBO strap. In a March 2013 rematch, Stieglitz got his revenge with a fourth-round technical knockout victory. The belt once again changed hands in March 2014 with Abraham flooring Stieglitz on his way to a split decision win. The stage is now set for a fourth battle between ‘King Arthur’ and his mandatory challenger Stieglitz at Germany’s famous Gerry Weber Stadium.

For the defending champion Abraham, July 18 offers him the opportunity to write the final chapter in his rivalry with Stieglitz. ‘’Robert is mandatory challenger, so of course he deserves his shot,’’ said Abraham. ‘’I’ve enjoyed our rivalry, but like all good things, this must come to an end. The Gerry Weber Stadium will provide the perfect venue for me to finish our feud. I had Robert down in the twelfth-round of our last encounter, but this time he will hit the canvas a lot sooner!’’

Tickets for Abraham-Stieglitz IV are on sale now and available by calling the GERRY WEBER Ticket Centre on +49 (0) 5201 81 80, or online via gerryweber-world.de and tickethall.de. All the action will be shown live and exclusive in Germany on SAT.1 and on Sky Sports in the UK.

Blackwell Blog 1: “I’m going to make him (Ryder) look levels below me!”

ARDIFF (11 MAY) By Nick Blackwell: A lot of people have seen me as high risk, low reward for a long time now, so when I found out I’d been mandated for the British title and that I’d be fighting John Ryder, it came as a huge relief. It was a guarantee. I knew I’d get the fight. There’d be no avoiding me.

After beating Ryder, I won’t just be seen as high risk, low reward. I’ll have the British title to my name – and that’s a massive reward.

For some reason, I knew I’d be fighting Ryder after Christmas. I just had a feeling he’d be The One. The Chris Eubank Jr fight came up again, as it always does, but I knew he would’t take that. Unsurprisingly, it fell through pretty much straight away. I then had the opportunity to fight Ryder for the British title and that was music to my ears.

I’m buzzing for it now. I’ve visualised fighting Ryder since the start of the year and am more than ready for it. I’ve done a lot of southpaw sparring since my last fight in November and it’s all been in preparation for this.

I train all year round, of course. I’m always fit to do ten or twelve rounds. But I had a feeling this fight with Ryder was on the horizon since the start of the New Year and knew I had to be prepared. It’s usually always last minute with me, so I was ready to jump into a fight whenever they said it was signed and sealed.

As soon as the fight was made, my diet became strict, I turned training up a notch and I had seven or eight weeks to add to all the stuff I already had in the bag. That’s all it was. It wasn’t like I just started training for this fight seven or eight weeks out. I’ve been training constantly since my last fight in November.

As for Ryder, I think he’s a little bit beneath the likes of Martin Murray and Billy Joe Saunders but still a very good fighter. His last couple of performances haven’t been great, but that’s probably because he was in there against opponents who were just trying to survive. It was hard for him to look good.

I know he’s a strong boy, he’s fit, he’s tough and he’s not a bad boxer. He’ll give me a tough fight. But I’ve never been in the ring with somebody who was too strong for me or too hard for me. I don’t see Ryder being able to push me around.

I reckon I can get to him mentally, too. I think I can break him once I start walking him down and pushing him back. I plan on putting a lot of pressure on him. And when he’s hitting me with the kind of shots he’s used to put other people away, and realises they aren’t having an impact, he’ll start to doubt himself. I’ll also be hitting him back.

Winning the British title at a massive venue like the O2 Arena is a dream come true. It doesn’t get much bigger than that in this country. Also, the May 30 card is a big bill with a lot of good fights on it. Hopefully I can go out there, make a statement and steal the show. I’m going to show John Ryder up on the big stage. I’m going to make him look levels below me.

Team Lo Greco New Addition: Angel “Memo” Heredia and Angel “The Lion ” Arzagoitia

After the last training camp for the March 6, 2015 fight went without a hitch
The team decided now would be a good time for a new addition to our team.
We are proud to announce the addition of strength coach Memo Heredia.

Memo was the man behind the knockout of Manny Pacquiao at the hands of
Juan Manuel Marquez.

He also worked with Jean Pascal for the last fight vs Serge Kovalev.

And was recently called on by Alex Ariza for advice in

Floyd Mayweather’s preparation vs Manny Pacquiao.

While we know Phil has power and strength,

We plan to see Memo and Angel increase Phil’s speed and agility in the ring.

Together we hope to see Phil on the world class level real soon.
