PHILIPPINE SUPREME COURT ISSUES TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDER IN PACQUIAO TAX CASE

Pacquiao_Bradley_weighin_140411_006a
MANILA (August 20, 2014) – The Philippine Supreme Court issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) to stop the enforcement of the Court of Tax Appeals (CTA) ruling which ordered Saranggani Congressman Manny Pacquiao and his wife Jinkee to post a cash bond in the amount of P3,298,514,894.35 (US$74.9 Million) or a surety bond in the amount of P4,947,772,341.53 (US$112.4 Million), as a condition for suspending the collection of alleged deficiency 2008 and 2009 income tax and value added tax by the Bureau of Internal Revenue while their appeal is still being heard.
The CTA (First Division) was further ordered to proceed with CTA Case No. 8683 with “deliberate dispatch”.

The TRO is attached.

The Supreme Court likewise enjoined the BIR from issuing, executing, enforcing, implementing, or otherwise giving effect to any Warrant of Distraint and/or Levy, Warrants of Garnishment, and Notice of Tax Lien, and from attempting to collect any tax on the basis of the deficiency income tax and VAT assessments against petitioners for the years 2008 and 2009.

The TRO is to be extended “indefinitely and until further orders”.

Cong. Pacquiao and Jinkee thanked God for the welcome development in what has been a bitter dispute with the Philippine tax authorities. The couple were likewise grateful that the Supreme Court was able to urgently act on their Petition.

Cong. Pacquiao stated, “The issuance by the High Court of a TRO allows both side to have a fair opportunity to present evidence and prove their case before the CTA. I think I have said all that needs to be said in connection with the taxes I have paid in the United States and in the Philippines. Let us now let the legal process take its course. For now, I am just glad I will be able to concentrate on training for my upcoming bout in Macau.”

The fight will be held on Thursday, September 11, just two days Before”MAYHEM: Mayweather vs. Maidana 2″ takes over Las Vegas on Saturday, September 13.

“The heavyweight championship has long been the most prestigious title in all of boxing and Luis Ortiz and Lateef Kayode will be bringing it in order to win that belt and put their names in the history books,” said Oscar De La Hoya, President of Golden Boy Promotions. “This is the perfect way to kick off a great weekend of boxing in Las Vegas.”

“We are happy to work with Golden Boy to continue the tradition of not one but two fights in Las Vegas the week of a Floyd Mayweather pay-per-view event,” said Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions. “We want to keep the fans who come from near and far entertained all week long and there is no better way to do that than with a heavyweight title fight.”

“A lot of great fighters have come before me and won the heavyweight title and to have the chance to join them is an honor,” said the number two-ranked Ortiz. “I will fight my heart out for this championship and I won’t disappoint my fans, friends or family.”

“I’ve waited a long time for a fight like this and I feel that this is finally my chance to shine,” said the number five-ranked Kayode. “Before Mayweather and Maidana fight on Saturday, I will set the stage for them with a big win and a championship that will have the world talking.”

GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS, FOX SPORTS 1 AND FOX DEPORTES CELEBRATE THE ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE GOLDEN BOY LIVE! SERIES

LOS ANGELES (Aug. 20) – Exactly one year ago yesterday, Golden Boy Promotions, kicked off its lauded Golden Boy Live! series on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes, an undertaking that led to 24 fights in a single year featuring hundreds of fighters in front of thousands of fans from numerous venues across the United States and Puerto Rico.

“When we created Golden Boy Live!, our goal was to showcase up-and-coming fighters to fans eager to see the next generation of superstars,” said Oscar De La Hoya, founder and president of Golden Boy Promotions. “We have been thrilled by our partnership with FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes and look forward to continuing our collaboration for many years to come.”

The Golden Boy Live! series continues this Friday, August 22 from the Allan Witt Sports Center in Fairfield, Calif. featuring Manuel “Tino” Avila vs. Sergio Frias in the main event.

“As FOX Sports 1 celebrates its first year, it’s great to have some of our original partners marking the occasion along with us,” said Patrick Crakes, FOX Sports Senior Vice President of Programming, Research and Content Strategy. “Golden Boy Live! continues to deliver quality fights, including three great fight cards scheduled over the next month. We’re looking forward to continuing to grow the relationship between Golden Boy Promotions and FOX Sports 1.”

Nine of the 24 Golden Boy Live! events featured main event knockouts, including its inaugural fight night from the Best Buy Theater in New York City featuring the recently crowned WBA Middleweight World Champion Daniel “The Miracle Man” Jacobs when he knocked out Giovanni Lorenzo in the third round.

“Fighting on the first Golden Boy Live! event against Giovanni Lorenzo was one of the biggest moments of my career,” said Jacobs. “To be at home in New York against a top contender and to win by knockout, let me know that I was on the right track to a world championship. Congratulations on the one-year anniversary and here’s to many more years on FOX Sports 1.”

Rising star Julian “Camaron” Ramirez spoke about his experience on the series adding, “When you’re an up-and-coming fighter learning and improving on your craft, watching my favorite fighters on television was how I got inspired. To be able to fight on Golden Boy Live! and to be the guy that people are watching now, is very exciting and motivating and I can’t wait to be back on the series.”

After kicking off the series in the Big Apple, Golden Boy Live! events landed in 13 different markets in 15 different venues from the House of Blues in Boston to the Alamodome in San Antonio and worked with various top local promoters in order to plan and execute the best events possible.

“Golden Boy Live! is a throwback to a great era in boxing when the fights were the main thing,” said Paco Damian of Paco Presents, a promotional company based in Woodland, Calif. “It doesn’t matter if you’re a big name or not; if you’re on this show, you’re going to be in for a fight where the fans are always the winners.”

Echoing Damian’s sentiments was prominent Texas promoter, Mike Battah: “Whether you’re a prospect or a contender, Golden Boy Live! gives boxers the national showcase they need to show their talents to fans and to the industry,” Battah said. “This series has provided great opportunities for the fighters. Look at Luis Collazo – he fought on the series and then made it all the way to the MGM Grand on one of the biggest cards of the year (facing Amir Khan on the Floyd Mayweather vs. Marcos Maidana Pay-Per-View Undercard). These weekday events give boxers a great outlet in which to showcase their talents in front of a large audience and build themselves for that next step. These are competitive, evenly matched fights in great venues and I’m proud to be associated with it.”

Over the first year, no venue hosted more Golden Boy Live! fight cards than Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif. which hosted four series events. Speaking about the series’ connection to its’ most frequented property, Fantasy Springs Resort Casino General Manager Paul Ryan stated, “Fantasy Springs Resort Casino has worked with Golden Boy Promotions on various platforms, including the Golden Boy Live! series, to provide the Coachella Valley with quality boxing entertainment all year round. The popularity of the series’ fights at Fantasy Springs has been in large part due to the community support given to our local boxers inside the Golden Boy ring and we are eager to see the next generation of excellent talent come through our doors.”

Olympians Sadam “World Kid” Ali, Jamell Herring, Rau’shee Warren, Joseph Diaz Jr., Dominic “Trouble” Breazeale and Diego De La Hoya found homes on the Golden Boy Live! fight cards, many of whom were repeat stars of the shows. Those with championship hopes began vying for their chance to prove themselves on boxing’s most emerging stage.

“It’s been a great privilege to be showcased on Golden Boy Live! The exposure has been tremendous and I have been able to reach out to a lot of new fans. I am honored to be part of the Golden Boy family,” said Golden Boy Live! participant Joseph Diaz Jr.

Diego De La Hoya spoke about the invaluable opportunity that the Golden Boy Live! series affords aspiring champions stating, “To be a young fighter and to get such a great chance to compete on television from the start, I can’t thank Golden Boy and FOX Sports enough. You learn a lot fighting at this level and I can’t wait for my next fight!”

“Golden Boy Live! helped propel my career,” said Francisco “El Bandido” Vargas. “Getting to fight on television for fans around the world is an honor and a privilege for any fighter. I can’t wait to get invited back!”

“Being part of this promotional company has been a great journey and I’m looking forward to watching another great show on Friday night. I’m very excited and grateful to be part of this series,” added repeat Golden Boy Live! fighter Antonio “Relentless” Orozco.

With shows twice a month, Golden Boy Promotions took advantage of different holidays, and happenings throughout the year including fights on Memorial Day, St. Patrick’s Day and even during the first ever New York City Super Bowl week with a special edition fight hosted at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

“We have hosted two Golden Boy Live! events in the last year and we are thrilled that Golden Boy and its relationship with FOX Sports 1 have provided such a tremendous platform to showcase major boxing at Barclays Center,” said Brett Yormark, CEO of Barclays Center.

Fighters on the card are not the only stars to grace Golden Boy Live! venues as current and future Hall of Famers including Oscar De La Hoya, Mike Tyson, George Foreman, Tito Trinidad, Roy Jones Jr., Erik Morales, Jesse James Leija and current fighters including current and former World Champions Bernard Hopkins, Danny Garcia, Peter Quillin, Amir Khan, Leo Santa Cruz, Adrien Broner, Abner Mares, Omar Figueroa Jr., Alfredo Angulo,Daniel Ponce De Leon and many others have attended the fights as special guests. Additionally, former World Champion and current SHOWTIME commentator Paulie “Magic Man” Malignaggi has commentated on the majority of the Golden Boy Live! shows as well.

“It’s been a great first year for Golden Boy Live! and the fighters who have been on the series always bring it when tho camera lights are on,” said Malignaggi. “For a fighter to get the opportunity to perform on such a huge stage is a big deal and they’ve embraced it. The show is promoted by Joey Eye Boxing Promotions.

Dawejko of Philadelphia has a record of 11-4-2 with 4 knockouts and is on a three fight winning streak.

Dawejko is not afraid to take on top competition as nearly half of his fights have been against undefeated fighters.

He followed those two fights up with an explosive 1st round stoppage over David Williams on August 2 in Atlantic City. In that bout, Dawejko scored three vicious knockdowns in the bout that lasted just 108 seconds.

Dawejko’s opponent will be announced shortly.

NEW TRAINER CONFIDENT A NEW MIKE JONES WILL SHOW UP SATURDAY AT BALLY’S ATLANTIC CITY

Jones_Munoz_110625_002a
Las Vegas, NV—Former world-title challenger Mike Jones wrapped up his preparations yesterday at the Top Rank Gym here for Saturday’s 10-round comeback fight against Jaime Herrera, of Franklin Park, IL, at Bally’s Atlantic City.

It has been more than two years since Jones last fought. He was stopped in the 11th round of his IBF world welterweight title fight with Randall Bailey, of Miami, FL, at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. That was June 9, 2012.

Since then, Jones, 31, moved from Philadelphia, PA, to Las Vegas, was idle for two years while working out daily in Las Vegas gyms, and now is trained by Ismael Salas and Miguel Diaz.
clip_image010 “Boxing is a mental game just as much as a physical one,” said Salas, pictured above with Jones, Diaz and Richie Sandoval. “When we first worked with Mike for this fight, we talked for a long time and worked on renewing his fighting spirit. He is a great fighter and he needs to think that when he walks into the ring he will be a powerful force.

“Mike is very strong and hits hard. He is in top condition; just look at him. After two years off, you will see what hard work and mental toughness did for Mike. He’s ready to fight.”

Salas has worked with 10 world champions, the most recent being Jessie Vargas, of Las Vegas, the current WBA junior welterweight champion.

Jones, who has won 26 of 27 pro fights, 19 by knockout, makes his fourth appearance at Bally’s, where he has defeated Lenin Arroyo, Raul Pinzon and Henry Bruseles.

Herrera, 25, is 11-2-1, 6 K0s. He comes into Saturday’s fight off the biggest win of his career, a fifth-round knockout over previously unbeaten Michael Finney, of Pahrump, NV, last March 29 in Las Vegas. Herrera’s management has been asking for this fight ever since word got out in May that Jones was fighting again.

The scheduled eight-round middleweight semifinal features Thomas LaManna, of Millville, NJ, against Jamaal Davis, of Philadelphia, in a prospect- vs.-veteran crossroads match. LaManna is 14-0, 7 K0s; Davis 14-11-1, 6 K0s.

Ismael Garcia, of Vineland, NJ, and Gilbert Alex Sanchez, of Camden, NJ, collide over six rounds to determine the best junior middleweight prospect in South Jersey. Garcia is 6-0, 3 K0s; Sanchez 4-4-1, 2 K0s.

ABOUT AUGUST 23

The Jones-Herrera and LaManna-Davis fights top an eight-bout card at Bally’s Atlantic City. First fight is 7.30 pm. Tickets are priced at $50 and $75 and they are on sale at the offices of Peltz Boxing (215-765-0922) and all Ticketmaster outlets (800-745-3000). Tickets also are on sale at www.peltzboxing.com and www.ticketmaster.com. www.gofightlive.tv will stream the card on the internet. The card is being promoted by Peltz Boxing Promotions, Inc., and Top Rank, Inc., in association with Bally’s Atlantic City.

Gennady Golovkin
Los Angeles, CA (August 19, 2014) Boxing’s fastest rising star, GENNADY “GGG” GOLOVKIN will defend his World Boxing Association (‘WBA’) and International Boxing Organization (‘IBO’) Middleweight World Titles against World Boxing Council (‘WBC’) Interim Middleweight Champion MARCO ANTONIO “El Veneno” RUBIO on Saturday, October 18th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California and televised Live on HBO World Championship Boxing® beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT

Presented by K2 Promotions and GGG Promotions in association with Promociones Del Pueblo, the scheduled 12-round GOLOVKIN vs. RUBIO championship battle will headline “MEXICAN STYLE”, a world class evening of entertainment at the West Coast’s premier outdoor venue for boxing.

“I’m very excited to fight in California,” said Golovkin. “I always enjoy attending fights at the StubHub Center and look forward to a “Mexican Style” fight against Marco Antonio Rubio.”

Said Rubio, “I’m excited to fight another world champion. I always accept the biggest challenges and without a doubt this will be the greatest of my career. I will show Golovkin a real “Mexican Style” fight on October 18th.”

“We’re looking forward to promoting the West Coast debut of Gennady Golovkin,” stated Tom Loeffler, Managing Director of K2 Promotions. “His growing popularity across the country compels us to bring this highly anticipated fight to the StubHub Center, which has hosted so many exciting boxing events in recent years.”

“Marco Antonio Rubio is among the toughest fighters in boxing and this battle with Gennady should provide fireworks from the opening bell.”

“It will be a tremendous fight,” said Oswaldo Kuchle of Promociones Del Pueblo. “I can assure you that Rubio will make this a war.”

Sporting a record of 30-0-0 with 27 knockouts, the highest knockout ratio (90%) of any active world champion, Golovkin has become a must-see international attraction with his aggressive all-action style and breathtaking knockouts.

On July 26th at Madison Square Garden, Golovkin stopped two-time former world champion Daniel Geale in the third round with an extraordinary knockout punch that will be at the top of most “Knockout of the Year” media and fan lists.

Against Geale, Golovkin made his 11th title defense while scoring his 17th knockout in a row. Golovkin will head to Big Bear, California next week to begin preparations under the watchful eye of longtime trainer Abel Sanchez

Fighting out of Torreon, Mexico and training in Oxnard, California with former world champion Robert Garcia, Rubio has compiled a record of 59-6-1 with 51 knockouts against some of the best fighters in the sport.

The hard-hitting Rubio has faced Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Kelly Pavlik, David Lemieux, Kassim Ouma, Frankie Randall and Jose Luis Zertuche.

The 34-year-old Rubio is currently 16-1 in his last seventeen bouts most recently stopping Italian veteran Dominic Spada in the tenth round on April 5th in Chihuahua, Mexico, winning the WBC Interim Middleweight Title.

New wave of Canadian prospects Showcased last weekend by Eye of the Tiger Management

MONTREAL (August 19, 2014) – A new wave of Canadian boxing prospects was showcased this past weekend in Quebec City by Eye of the Tiger Management (EOTTM) on its popular Fight Night Series.

During the past few years, EOTTM has developed a strong stable of world-class fighters, promoting and/or managing the likes of World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion Bermane “B. Ware” Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs), world title challengers Dierry “Dougy Style” Jean (26-1, 18 KOs) and Antonin Decarie (30-2, 9 KOs), and leading contenders lightweight Ghislain “Mani” Maduma (16-1, 10 KOs) and middleweight David Lemieux (30-2, 30 KOs).

EOTTM’s new wave includes a pair of rising stars, WBC FECARBOX super middleweight champion Schiller Hyppolite (13-1, 9 KOs) and undefeated welterweight “Super” Mian Hussain (10-0, 5 KOs), who were both victories last Saturday night in impressive performances.

The 28-year-old Hyppolite outclassed Irish super middleweight champion J.J. “Slick” McDonagh (10-3) for his eighth consecutive win, taking a unanimous 10-round decision by scores of 99-91, 98-92 and 96-94. A native of Haiti, Hyppolite is following closely in the footsteps of his fellow countrymen – Stiverne, Jean, Adonis Stevenson and Jean Pascal.

WBC FECARBOX 168-pound champion Hyppolite is climbing the leader, recently cracking the WBC’s top 25 ratings at No. 24, and ranked No. 8 by the North American Boxing Organization (NABO).

“Schiller showed good discipline against a very strong opponent,” EITTM president Camille Estephan commented. “The Irish kid said after the fight that Schiller would be a world champion. He definitely has the goods. When people talk about (Jean) Pascal and (Adonis) Stevenson, who both started out at 168 pounds, Schiller is definitely in the same league. After 14 fights, he’s more advance than Pascal and Stevenson at the same stage of their careers. We have very high hopes for Hyppolite.”

Hussian action
Hussian is a 24-year-old southpaw fighting out of Montreal like Hyppolite. He defeated Swiss veteran Flavio Turelli by way of an eight-round unanimous decision by identical scores of 78-73.

Hussian showed the heart of a champion gutting out this victory having suffered a torn tendon in his bicep during the opening round. Any movement thereafter caused severe pain for Hussian, who was decked for the first time in the second round.

“He didn’t know what was wrong at first and he couldn’t block a punch,” Estephan noted. “He was dropped for the first time but he went on to beat his opponent with one arm. It was a sensational performance, under the circumstances, for him to go eight rounds to win. He almost knocked out the guy a few times throwing double hooks.

Going into the fight I thought he’d be a major star someday. Now, I’m even more convinced. Hussian is another David Lemieux. He has a lot of power, good speed and effectively counter punches.”

One of the top teenage prospects in the world, undefeated junior middleweight Steve Butler (3-0, 2 KO), was supposed to fight last Saturday in Quebec City but his scheduled opponent failed a pre-fight medical exam.

The 18-year-old Butler is the youngest Canadian National Champion ever, in addition to being the grandson of former Canadian junior middleweight Marshall Butler (20-5, 15 KOs). He won 48 of 54 amateur bouts with one draw, highlighted by only one loss in his last 35 matches. His impressive lists of accomplishments includes four-time winner of the Bronze Glove Tournament, as well as gold-medal performances at the Silver Glove, Adidas and Golden Gloves tournaments.

“It was very disappointing for all of us for Steven not getting a chance to fight,” Estephan noted. He’s a great kid who works very hard. I wanted to get him in the ring as soon as possible and this Friday in Montreal against Sylwester Walczak on a show co-promoted by GYM and InterBox. Steven needs experience to learn. We want him to get in some rounds and he’s fighting a guy capable of upsetting prospects. He’s a much better than his record may indicate (4-14-1). He went the distance with Mian and some other good fighters (including former European champion Lenny Daws). We’re interested to see how Steven does with him.

“Steven is already the darling of the Quebec boxing scene,” Estephan noted. “He is the future of boxing!”

“Do or die” – Solis vs. Thompson II announced for October

odlanier-solis
2004 Olympic gold medalist Odlanier Solis will get a “last chance” to work his way back to the top of the world rankings. The Cuban defector who suffered a bad knee injury in the first round of his WBC heavyweight championship bout against Vitali Klitschko in March 2011 lost to US ring veteran Tony “The Tiger” Thompson in his last bout in March 2014. Many fans and experts thought that former amateur standout Solis was done after the majority decision loss. But now the 34-year-old wants revenge and will try to get back at Thompson in an October rematch.

“The contracts are signed, we’re ready to go”, says promoter Ahmet Oner. “Now Solis has to show what he’s made of. I am sure that he can beat Thompson. But their first bout showed that he needs the right attitude and a lot of stamina to do so. This is the last chance for both men. It’s do or die. After beating Solis, Thompson lost to Carlos Takam. Still both men are rated in the WBC top 15. So the winner can move up the rating and get in line for another world title shot – the loser should probably just retire.”

The place and the exact date of the fight haven’t been announced yet. Adds Oner: “We have different options. Many I will give my comeback in Germany. But there are other offers on the table, too. Solis vs. Thompson II is a great and close fight between two big champions. This is the kind of heavyweight fight that people want to see.”

Tony Thompson is looking forward to the rematch: “Solis is a gold medalist with a great record so I am not looking past him. I beat him once and I’ll do it again, only this time I am knocking him out! Nothing is going to stop me from my mission of winning a world title.”

Adds Thompson’s advisor Mike Borao: “The Heavyweight division is just starting to open up, and Tony Thompson is still very much in the championship mix.”

MARCOS MAIDANA, LEO SANTA CRUZ & ALFREDO ANGULO HOST MEDIA ROUNTABLE IN CARSON, CALIF., AHEAD OF “MAYHEM: MAYWEATHER VS. MAIDANA 2”

Marcos Maidana
LOS ANGELES — (Aug. 18, 2014) – Marcos “El Chino” Maidana, the former welterweight world champion who gets his highly anticipated rematch with Floyd “Money” Mayweather in the main event of “MAYHEM: Mayweather vs. Maidana 2” on Saturday, Sept. 13 live on SHOWTIME PPV®, met with media members in Carson, Calif., last Saturday at StubHub Center and took part in an interview on the SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast.

Joining Maidana at the media roundtable were two-division world champion Leo “Terremoto” Santa Cruz, and Alfredo “El Perro” Angulo, both of whomare on the pay-per-view undercard on Sept. 13.
Santa Cruz(27-0-1, 15 KOs), of Los Angeles, will defend his WBC Super Bantamweight World Championship against Mexico’s Manuel “Suavecito” Roman (17-2, 6 KOs) in the “MAYHEM” co-featured bout whileAngulo(22-4, 18 KOs) will move up to middleweight to face James De La Rosa (22-2, 13 KOs) in a 10-round bout. Also on the four-fight telecast, Miguel “Títere” Vazquez (34-3, 13 KOs), of Tijuana, will defend his IBF Lightweight World Championship against Mickey “The Spirit” Bey (20-1-1, 10 KOs), a Mayweather Promotions’ rising star from Las Vegas.

Preceding the PPV telecast, SHOWTIME will present a live 10-round junior welterweight bout between John Molina (27-4, 22 KOs) of Covina, Calif., and Humberto “La Zorrita” Soto (64-8-2, 35 KOs) on “COUNTDOWN LIVE” (SHO, 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT).

Undefeated 11-time world champion and perennial pound-for-pound kingpin, Mayweather (46-0, 26 KOs) was, of course, the main topic of the questions directed at Maidana (35-4, 32 KOs) on Saturday.

“He’s not as good as people think,” Maidana told the dozens of reporters in attendance at StubHub Center. “I was able to pin him to the ropes and land punches, so he’s not as difficult or as invincible as people think. He’s hittable. You can land on him. I made mistakes. I was a little too anxious. He never hurt me, but he’s got a respectable punch. You’ve got to respect him.”

Below is more of what Maidana, Santa Cruz and Angulo said during the media roundtable:

Marcos Maidana

Did you get tired in the first fight?

“Yes. I did. I came out strong the first six or seven rounds, and after that I had to take a break and catch my breath a little bit. I had to pace myself. I have to not get as anxious for this fight.”

Are you training any differently for this fight?

“No. No big changes. Just working on my distance control and a couple other minor changes.”

Does your conditioning need to be better this time around?

“I’ve had a little more time to prepare for this fight so this time I’m going to be ready.”

Have you studied the last fight? And what could you do better?

“Yes. Minor changes, but not too much else.

“(Mayweather) can obviously change and get better, but I can change and get better too. The only thing he can do is box and that’s what he did in the first fight. He was moving a lot. What is he going to do? Move more?

“I’m always looking for the knockout. And if I can’t (get it), I’m going to win by decision.”

What would a victory be like over Mayweather?

“It would be the best thing in my career because I would be the first person to beat him.”

How has your life changed since the first fight?

“It’s changed. But I’ve had big fights before. The Amir Khan fight; the (Adrien) Broner fight. But this fight is bigger than those. So it’s changed.

“I never thought that he would give me the rematch. But when he decided to, I was surprised.”

Are rematches harder or easier?

“This is the first time in my career that I’m doing a rematch. It can be a little bit of both. You can argue that it can be hard, but at the same time we know each other so it can be easier.

“I fight for glory. Obviously, my future is secure. But part of me fighting still is because I want to win. And I want to beat Mayweather.”

Leo Santa Cruz

“I’m excited and I’m hungry. It’s been like five months since I’ve been in the ring. I’m just ready to go out there and do what I do and give the fans a great fight.”

On facing his next opponent, former sparring partner Manuel Roman:

“We used to spar a lot and he has good technique, but not a lot of people know him. He’s a good friend, but this is business. Once we’re up there we have go out there and give it our best.”

What are some of the things that you feel you need to improve on as a fighter?

“Everything. There are a lot of things we have to improve on. We’re trying to get different experiences, like fighting with people who move a lot. Every time we’re in the gym there are little things we need to learn. As my father says, ‘You never stop learning.’ I’ve learned a little from every fight.”

Do you plan to fight at 126 pounds next?

“Maybe I’ll do one or two more fights at 122, then go up to 126.”

Who is the one guy you want to fight?

“Guillermo (Rigondeaux). He’s the one who’s been calling me out saying that I’m scared. I want to prove that I’m not scared. I know it’s a hard fight for me, but we don’t care. I want to give the fans what they want. I want to please them and if they’re happy, I’m happy.”

Alfredo Angulo

“I’m happy fighting at 160 (middleweight). It’s a lot better than 154. I wasn’t having trouble making weight, I just feel better at 160. I’m ready to take over the division at 160.”

What do you think about your power at 160 pounds?

“You’ll see on Sept. 13.”

What do you think about facing James De La Rosa?

“I honestly don’t focus on my opponent. I focus on the work I have to do. Virgil (trainer Virgil Hunter) grades them and tells me what I need to do.”

Who do you want to fight at 160?

“I don’t even know who the fighters are at 160. Honestly, I don’t focus on the names. I don’t even know the names at 154. What is most important to me is the fans. Whoever they put in front of me is fine.”

Campillo Looking for his Next ‘Dance’ Partner

Former world light heavyweight champion Gabriel Campillo (24-6-1, 11 KOs) is looking for his next dance partner.

Coming off a career-rejuvenating victory over formerly undefeated Thomas Williams Jr., on August 1, live on ESPN Friday Night Fights at the Little Creek Casino in Shelton, Washington, in which he stopped Williams in five rounds, “The Handsome Man,” Campillo next wants to “tango” with any other top light heavyweight in the world.

“Gabriel Campillo, with his upset elimination-bout victory over the undefeated Williams, not only gained the right to be number two in the IBF ratings, but is also number nine in the WBC ratings,” said his exclusive promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing. “He is back and looking forward to becoming world champion once again.”

Professional boxing has been a difficult dance for Campillo, who before suffering losses to two of the top light heavyweights in the world, Sergey Kovalev and Andrey Fonfara (a fight in which he was winning when stopped), the 35-year-old Campillo was outright robbed in high-profile fights against former or current champions Beibut Shumenov, Karo Murat and Tavoris Cloud.

“The headlines after the Cloud fight said it was a Texas robbery in the American Bank Center. He should be 27-3 with his only losses in the last seven years against Kovalev and Fonfara,” continued Lewkowicz. “His victory over Williams shows that working with his stablemate Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez and the team from Maravilla Box has him back to being one of the best in the world. He was not supposed to win that fight, according to the experts, but he used his southpaw stance to open up a cut and then worked on it until the fight had to be stopped. He showed a level of accuracy and skill only top fighters ever reach.”

Lewkowicz says he is currently looking for Campillo’s next opponent, one that will continue the fighter’s mission to reclaim his championship.

“Gabriel has told me he feels better than he has in years and is ready for anyone. I will be looking to put him in a fight that will show the world the great tango dancer from Spain, Gabriel “Chico Guapo” Campillo, still has plenty of moves left to show.”

ABOUT SAMPSON BOXING

After a very successful run as a matchmaker and adviser, Sampson Lewkowicz switched over to the promotional side of professional boxing in January 2008.

Kovalev Donates Auction Proceeds to Disabled Fighter

Sergey Kovalev
Ft. Lauderdale, FL: Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev may be the Russian Wrecking Ball in the ring, but outside the ring he has nothing but compassion for his fallen comrades. Krusher has posted fight-worn/autographed memorabilia from his most recent WBO Light Heavyweight Title defense against Blake Caparello for auction on eBay. The proceeds from the sales will benefit Magomed Abdusalamov, the Russian fighter who suffered a traumatic brain injury after his fight with Mike Perez on November 2, 2013 at Madison Square Garden.

Abdusalamov, 33, sustained extensive brain injuries following the bout against Perez. He had surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain and was in a coma for several weeks afterwards. Now, more than nine months after the fight, he is confined to a rehabilitation facility in New York State and doctors are uncertain whether he will speak or walk again.

Kovalev, 31, won the third defense of his WBO Light Heavyweight Title on August 2nd against Caparello at Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ. His eBay auction includes his fight-worn/autographed gloves, his signature fight-worn Krusher shoes and his fight-worn/autographed hand wraps from his fight with Caparello.

About the auction Sergey said, “I trained with Magomed. He is my friend and a good man. This is tragedy. I just want to help him and his family.”
The auctioned items can be found at:

UFC® FIGHT NIGHT MACAO: BISPING vs. LE *MEDIA QUOTES*

ufc_title-belt_206
Las Vegas, Nevada – Two of the best strikers in the middleweight division collide at UFC® FIGHT NIGHT MACAO on Saturday, August 23, and fans around the world can catch the action live and on-demand on UFCFIGHTPASS.com, the UFC’s digital streaming service.

UFC veteran Michael “The Count” Bisping, 25-6, from Manchester, England, looks to regain his top five ranking when he throws down in the five-round main event with the uniquely talented former Strikeforce champion Cung Le, 9-2, fighting out of San Jose, California.

In the co-main event, the hard-hitting No. 4 ranked welterweight, Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley, 13-3 with wins over the likes of Carlos Condit, Josh Koscheck, Paul Daley and Tarec Saffiedine – faces off with No.9 ranked “Stun Gun”, Dong Hyun Kim, 19-2-1, who is riding four consecutive wins over the likes of John Hathaway and Erick Silva.

Before flying to Asia, Bisping and Le gave their thoughts on this crucial middleweight match-up.

BISPING SAYS HIS BACK IS AGAINST THE WALL
“This is a must-win fight for me. I have to prove to the UFC, I have to prove to the fans, and I have to prove to myself that I’m still an elite fighter who can go on, get some wins over contenders, and fight for the UFC title. My last fight against Tim Kennedy sucked – it was the worst performance of my life. Kennedy had a gameplan to hold me down and he executed that gameplan well. In hindsight, I should never have accepted a fight just seven weeks after getting cleared to return to the gym after my eye injury. Yes, I was anxious to get back in there and earn my first paycheck in over a year but, with hindsight, I needed several months in the gym getting rid of ringrust. Instead, I made a huge mistake in taking on a wrestler like Kennedy without putting the work in – and I paid for it.

“But I’ve never lost two in a row in my life, and I don’t plan to. I’ve been fighting high-level competition for the last six, seven years. But I don’t want to be one of the guys in the top 10, who wins a few and loses a few, I want to be No.1 and I want to fight for the UFC title.

“My back is against the wall in terms of making that happen. I need to win to prove that I’m not just some fighter with a name who is fighting here and there for paydays. My record over my last six fights is win one, lose one, win one, lose one, and that’s just not good enough for what I want to do in my career.”

BISPING ON LE AS A FIGHTER
“He’s got good power, he’s a great striker if he can keep it long (at a distance) but he’s got nothing against the cage. He’s got no stamina, either. But he’s very dangerous if you let him do what he does best.”

BISPING ON HIS AND LE’S MOTIVATION
“Listen, Cung Le is basically back in the UFC to boost his brand and remind everybody of his existence. He hasn’t fought in a couple of years, so I’m guessing his profile has dipped, he’s probably not getting too many embarrassing kung-fu movie offers right now and – probably worst of all for him – Channing Tatum has stopped retweeting him.

“I’m going to put a beating on him, and he can disappear again back to b-movies. I have to close the distance on him, because he needs space to generate power in those fancy kicks of his. He’s got nothing at close range; everything is at a distance for him. And, at 42, he’s got no gas in the tank. He’s got four minutes or so in him – then he’s absolutely knackered. This is a five round fight and he’s 42 years old and hasn’t fought in two years. He had no gas in his first UFC fight three years ago, so he’s not going to be in better shape now. I’m going to take this win, cement my place in the top 10, and then go about getting back to the top four before the end of the year.”

BISPING BELIEVES LE IS “A PHONY”
“Cung Le is a bit of a phony. I went to Macao for the launch press conference with Cung Le in June, and I was very polite, very professional. I exchanged all the pleasantries, gave him all the small talk as you are supposed to in these situations and I even went as far as pretending to be absolutely blown away that he’s apparently friends with Channing Tatum. Basically, I went out of my way to be nice to him and everything was very civil. We promoted the fight, shook hands, and went back home to train for the fight.

“Then I see him on UFC.com doing a Fight Club QandA and he’s talking a load of bollocks about me. Basically, he’s jumped on the same old, boring bandwagon everyone else who fights me does with is to say what a smack-talker I am while, as always, they are the ones who talk crap first. What a phony. If he had a problem with me then he could have spared me all the boring anecdotes about Channing Tatum.

“One fan at the QandA asked him what his gameplan was and he said “Flying tornado kicks and thunder and lightning!” What does he think we are going to be doing in the Venetian Macao? Playing Tekken 4? It was another cheesy, embarrassing line from a cheesy, embarrassing actor.”

LE ON BISPING’S JIBES
“I’m sorry I hurt your feelings, Mike, but I was replying to a fan question. That was the point of the Fight Club QandA, to give the fans the chance to ask questions of me. If Bisping is offended on that, well, that’s just him. He should get his facts straight, and focus on himself. I don’t promote myself by talking; I do my talking with my results in the Octagon. As for the movies, he’s done movies too, so I don’t understand what he’s trying to say with that.”

LE ON BISPING AS A FIGHTER
“I’d say his best attributes as a fighter are his cardio, he’s a good striker, he’s hard to submit… and he’s a great talker.”

LE ON MOTIVATION
“My film career isn’t what this is about, fighting in the UFC at the highest level is what I am interested in. I have competed in martial arts since I was 10 years old, 32 years of competition and most of it was competing just for the love of martial arts. I didn’t make money from competing all over the world in Shidokan or Wushu or any of the martial arts I practiced; I did it because I love martial arts.

“That’s the reason I am still doing this, because I love it. I’m not back to promote a movie, or to increase my brand or any of that stuff Bisping claims. I am back in the Octagon because that’s exactly what I want to do. I’ve been out for two years because of injury; I had three elbow surgeries that’s the only reason I have been out this last few years.

WHAT A WIN OVER BISPING DOES FOR LE
“Right now, I’m thinking of the Bisping fight as my championship fight in the UFC. It is a main event in an amazing venue, it is five rounds and will be seen around the world on UFCFIGHTPASS.com, and it’s against one of the most recognizable names in the UFC. I got to the UFC very late in my career, so this to me if my championship fight. This is on the same level as my fight for the Strikeforce belt against Frank Shamrock in 2008. That’s how I see it and that’s how I’ve prepared. I think beating Bisping in a main event matters, a lot of people will see the fight and the result will stand out on my career (record).”

LE ON WHAT HIS AGE MEANS, AND HIS FUTURE IN THE UFC
“I may be 42, but my mind and body tell me I can still do this.

“I’m 42, but after the elbow surgeries I’ve been able to train harder and better than I have in years. I used to have to train around my injury, which could be frustrating and would tire out other parts of my body faster. Now I can train the way I want to and I feel fitter than I have in years. And Bisping is 35, he’s not that much younger than me, and he’s taken more damage than I have.

“I’m going to continue to be a martial artist for the rest of my life. It isn’t what I do, it is who I am. I work-out all the time, whether I have a fight or not, in martial arts. It is getting harder to do the cardio and strength train, but I will compete in the UFC as long as I can, enjoy myself in MMA, and when that eventually ends I will still be a martial artist until the day I die.

LE ON FIGHTING IN ASIA
“I don’t care where I fight. I was prepared to go to his hometown in Manchester, England, to fight him when there was talk of that maybe happening last year. But, of course, fighting in Asia is an honor for me. If I can help the UFC gain new fans in a new market, then it is an honor.”

MaxiNutrition Knockout Final set for Oct 4th, Glow, Bluewater, Live on Channel 5

London (Aug 18) Glow, Bluewater will be the stage for the first ever MaxiNutrition Knockout final on Saturday October 4th when British Light Heavyweight champion Bob Ajisafe takes on Travis Dickinson, the current English champion.

The fight promoted by Hennessy Sports will be shown live and exclusive on
Channel 5.

The successful knockout tournament has already seen both finalists in 2 fights of the year and the final between Ajisafe and Dickinson has all the ingredients to produce yet another one.

Ajisafe started his route to the final in a thrilling points win over former European, British and Commonwealth champion Dean Francis back in March and then he stopped Southern Area champion Leon Senior in 5 rounds at Leeds Town Hall in May.

Dickinson’s first fight in his quest to reach the final saw him knocking down the former European champion Danny McIntosh in the 1st round and then twice in the 3rd before the fight was eventually stopped towards the end of that round.

Then came the rocky style performances from Dickinson and brave Matty Clarkson in what was the pick of the semi finals at Leeds Town Hall. From the first bell both came out fighting and both put everything on the line and after hitting the canvas 3 times each the referee decided that Clarkson was unable to continue due to a cheek injury and halted the fight in the sixth and Dickinson confirmed his spot in the final.

Promoter Mick Hennessy said “After the brilliant MaxiNutrititon semi-finals, I’m looking forward to the final just as much as any other boxing fan, this has been a great tournament for British boxing and now we have a worthy final to finish it off.

“In my opinion the semi-final between Dickinson & Clarkson should be fight of the year worldwide not just domestically!”

Tickets to see who will lift the MAXINUTRITITON TROPHY will be available to purchase from 12pm on Tuesday 19th August from Ticketline.co.uk or by calling the Ticketline box office on 0844 888 9991

Ticket are priced £25 for General Admission, £50 Outer Ringside Reserved Seating, £100 Inner Ringside Reserved and £120 Inner Ringside Reserved (Please note that the £120 ringside tickets will secure you a seat in the first 3 rows)

Details on the undercard will be announced soon.

FOUR BOUTS ADDED TO ONE FC: RISE OF THE KINGDOM CAROS FODOR AND VUYISILE COLOSSA TO BATTLE AGAIN IN REMATCH SUASDAY CHAU TO TAKE ON ARNAUD LEPONT IN ONE FC DEBUT SINGAPORE’S RADEEM RAHMAN TO FACE TAIWANESE STAR SUNG MING YEN SINGAPOREAN AMIR KHAN TO FACE MALAYSIA’S JIAN KAI CHEE

18 August 2014 – SINGAPORE: ONE Fighting Championship™ (ONE FC), Asia’s largest mixed martial arts organization with a 90% market share, has added two bouts to the card at ONE FC: RISE OF THE KINGDOM. The event is set to take place at the Koh Pich Theatre in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on 12 September. Highly ranked lightweights Caros Fodor and Vuyisile Colossa are set to clash once again in a rematch, while top rated Singaporean star Radeem Rahman will take on Taiwanese mixed martial arts pioneer Sung Ming Yen and fellow Singaporean Amir Khan will face Malaysia’s Jian Kai Chee. Cambodian-Australian Suasday Chau has also been added to the card, and will clash with Arnaud Lepont in his ONE FC debut.

CEO of ONE Fighting Championship™ Victor Cui stated, “ONE FC: RISE OF THE KINGDOM is set to be the biggest sporting event to ever take place in ‘The Kingdom’! Fans in Cambodia and viewers watching all over the world can expect a night of adrenaline-pumping mixed martial arts action that will have you on the edge of your seat the entire night! This is a night that you will not want to miss!”

Tickets for ONE FC: RISE OF THE KINGDOM are on sale now at MyTV and Nagaworld. Ticket categories begin with the full red carpet and cage side experience for USD80. Tickets priced at USD50 and USD20 are also available.

Caros Fodor was one of the top lightweights in Strikeforce where he ran up an impressive record and was on course for a title shot. A Muay Thai champion and submission grappling champion, he has gone to battle with some of the best in the business and wants to introduce himself to fight fans in Cambodia with a spectacular performance. He bounced back from an earlier loss to Colossa by defeating Willy Ni in convincing fashion at ONE FC: HONOR & GLORY in May, and now gets an opportunity to avenge his only loss in ONE FC.

Vuyisile Colossa is one of the best stand-up fighters to ever compete in MMA and the fact that most of his wins have come by way of KO reflects his ultra-aggressive style. Colossa, who is based in Hong Kong, has devastating low kicks and brutal knees as numerous opponents have discovered to their cost. Colossa has won his last two bouts, including a victory over former ONE FC Lightweight World Champion Kotetsu Boku.

Radeem Rahman is the first Singaporean to compete inside the ONE FC cage. He emerged victorious in his ONE FC debut when he defeated Susovan Ghosh from India in ONE FC’s first event back in 2011. He was scheduled to compete in 2012 but had to withdraw due to injury. He made a successful return to the ONE FC cage by defeating Malaysia’s Raymond Tan in May this year, and will look to keep that winning streak going against Sung Ming Yen.

Sung Ming Yen is a Taiwanese mixed martial arts pioneer who has proven himself as one of the top mixed martial artists in the country. Sung is equally adept in both grappling and striking, and prides himself on his aggressive style. He defeated Singaporean Nicholas Lee in less than a minute in his ONE FC debut and will look to notch another victory over an opponent from Singapore when he takes on Radeem Rahman.

Suasday Chau is a Cambodian refugee who migrated to Australia when he was two. Now the owner of a gym in Adelaide, he will get to fulfil his dream of returning to Cambodia to compete as a mixed martial artist when he takes on Arnaud Lepont. Chau has deadly grappling skills and has won all four of his bouts via submission.

Arnaud Lepont is legendary for his charisma and crazy entrances and always goes looking for the KO right from the start of the fight. Lepont has outstanding striking and knockout power in both hands. He is eager to get back on track to a championship opportunity and the road to redemption begins with a battle against Suasday Chau.

Amir Khan is a Singaporean who has an undefeated amateur record competing in the United States. He is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu blue belt under Relson Gracie, and also has competitive wrestling and Muay Thai experience. With more than seven years of competitive combat sports experience under his belt, Khan will now make his professional mixed martial arts debut opposite Malaysia’s Jian Kai Chee.

Jian Kai Chee is a striking expert from Malaysia who has won national championships in both Sanda and Muay Thai. He has also taken on some of the best in Asia in his eight mixed martial arts bouts, and has even won three bouts on the same night. After winning his last ONE FC bout, he will now get to welcome Amir Khan to ONE FC.

YOUNG MEXICAN STAR HORACIO GARCIA HEADLINES DOUBLEHEADER ON TELEVISA / FOX DEPORTES TODAY!

LOS ANGELES (Aug. 16, 2014) – One of Mexico’s top rising stars, Horacio “Violento” Garcia, will seek his fourth win of 2014 on today, Saturday, August 16, when he defends his WBC Silver International Super Bantamweight title on Televisa and FOX Deportes against Colombia’s Jonathan Perez at the Centro de Convenciones Azul Ixtapa in Ixtapa, Mexico.

In the co-main event, Mexican bantamweights Jessica Gonzalez and Estrella Valverde square off in a 10-round bout for the WBC Female Interim Bantamweight World Title.

Also on the card, Mexican bantamweight phenom Ivan Morales faces off with Colombia’s Cesar Canchila in a 10-round bout.

A popular figure on the Mexican fight scene, 24-year-old Horacio “Violento” Garcia (26-0, 18 KOs) is on the verge of making his mark worldwide, and his current number 15 ranking in the WBC is a good start. Winner of nine fights in two rounds or less, Garcia plans on giving his fans another early finish this Saturday as he makes his way to the top of the super bantamweight division.

Fighting out of Barranquilla, Colombia, Jonathan “Popeye” Perez (33-9, 27 KOs) has been unbeaten for nearly three years, a span that has seen him go unbeaten in 15 fights. With his last seven wins coming by way of knockout, the 27-year-old is clearly the biggest challenge Garcia has ever faced, making this a must-see battle for fight fans.

Popular Mexico City native Jessica “Magnificent” Gonzalez (5-1) has fought top competition throughout her career, and this experience allowed her to shine when she won the interim 118-pound title in November of 2013 by upsetting Yazmin Rivas. Now she will defend that title for the first time against Estado de Mexico veteran Estrella “La Chacala” Valverde (9-4-1, 1 KO), a two-time world title challenger who has won three of her last five fights.

Twenty-two-year-old Tijuana native Ivan “Nino Maravilla” Morales (25-0, 14 KOs) is a top Mexican prospect that hopes to add to his nation’s rich boxing history by becoming a world champion in the coming years. While he’s still young, his efforts thus far have shown him to be a mature fighter with a seemingly endless list of positive attributes. Coming off a 10-round win over 40-fight veteran Jose Alfredo Tirado in April, Morales faces the equally-experienced Canchila.

Monteria, Colombia’s Cesar Canchila (33-4, 25 KOs) is a former interim WBA junior flyweight champion who is looking to make a run at championship glory once again, this time at 118 pounds. A hard-punching veteran who is 5-1 in his last six bouts, with three knockouts, the 32-year-old Canchila has the power, savvy, and style that can test Morales and see if he is ready for prime time.

Garcia vs. Perez, a 12-round bout for the WBC Silver International Bantamweight Title, is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Canelo Promotions and sponsored by Corona. Doors open at 5 p.m. CT and the first fight begins at 6 p.m. CT. The FOX Deportes broadcast begins at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT and the Televisa broadcast airs at 10:30 p.m. CT.

NY DAILY NEWS GOLDEN GLOVES FINALS TO BE AIRED ON SNY AS PART OF DIBELLA ENTERTAINMENT’S BROADWAY BOXING SERIES

New York, NY (8/15/14) – This Sunday, August 17, SNY will air a special edition of DiBella Entertainment’s popular Broadway Boxing series, with the first of two episodes depicting the finals of the 2014 New York Daily News Golden Gloves tournament. The telecast will begin at 8:00pm EST.

On April 16 and 17th, the 87th annual New York Golden Gloves finals took place before a packed house at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, NY. Following the completion of the finals, it was officially announced that the New York Daily News and DiBella Entertainment entered into an exclusive joint partnership.

Since 1927, local boxers in New York have competed for the chance to win a Daily News Golden Gloves championship. The tournament was a launching pad for world champions such as Emile Griffith, Jose Torres, Floyd Patterson, Riddick Bowe, Mark Breland and Zab Judah. Thus far, 39 Golden Gloves medalists have gone on to win professional world championships.

“DBE is thrilled to forge this partnership with the New York Golden Gloves. The Gloves are one of the preeminent amateur tournaments in the world and a New York institution. Broadway Boxing has become the home for many former New York Golden Glovers. It is natural for DBE and Broadway Boxing to join forces with the Golden Gloves to bring this exciting action to our viewers,” said Lou DiBella, who served as the lead commentator on the broadcast both nights.

“Lou DiBella, being the great friend that he is, has committed to giving this exposure to these amateurs and it’s truly appreciated by all of us involved with the Gloves. Lou understands the value of NYC grassroots boxing and we are thrilled to have him involved in this capacity,” said Brian Adams, the New York Daily News Golden Gloves director.

“SNY is excited to add the Golden Gloves to our Broadway Boxing television package,” said Kevin Sornatale. “The rich history of the New York Golden Gloves enhances our overall boxing programming in 2014 and adds to our profile as the television home of all things New York sports.”

The bouts shown this Sunday, August 17, will include:

Jamie Estrada vs. Michael Stoute – 123lb. Open Class
Waris Aminy vs. Jared Bonilla – 141lb. Novice Class

Schavez Peters vs. Juan Rojas Villalobos – 141lb. Open Class
Domonique White vs. Anthony DeMonte – 152lb. Novice Class
Ali Salem vs. Viacheslav Barsukov – 178lb. Open Class

The broadcast will re-air on SNY on August 30 (8:00 PM ET), September 13 (5:00 PM ET), and September 22 (8:30 PM ET), as well as on other Comcast regional networks. More action from the Daily News Golden Gloves finals will air as part of a second episode on a date to be determined in November.
