Worcester, MA, lightweight Jamaine Ortiz (@JaimaineOrtizR) has built his career – which now has him ranked seventh in the world among 135-pounders by the WBC – on substance over style, strategy in lieu of extravagance.

Often referred to as one of the more soft-spoken fighters in today’s game, Ortiz (16-1-1) has patiently waited for the much-anticipated payoff all prizefighters dream of while tactically and efficiently picking apart nearly every challenger who’s crossed his path since launching his professional career in 2017.

But at 26 and on the cusp of entering his prime, “The Technician” can’t – and won’t – wait much longer. Five months ago, Ortiz starred on one of the sport’s biggest stages: New York City, Madison Square Garden, headlining a worldwide televised event against one of boxing’s all-time greats, Vasyl Lomachenko. Ortiz lost a close decision, but the moments of brilliance sprinkled across 12, hard-fought rounds vaulted the Worcester native from commonly-searched social media keyword to legitimate lightweight contender.

As such, Ortiz is now anxiously – and, quite frankly, impatiently – waiting for the next big opportunity. With the scheduled April 22 lightweight super fight between undefeated titans Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis hogging most of the headlines in the 135-pound division, Ortiz has deviated from the usual path of biding his time and is instead aggressively pursuing his rightful place among boxing’s elite lightweights. This past weekend, Ortiz tweeted his frustrations at those who continue to cherry-pick opponents while ducking real fights along with the powers that be who are willfully protecting their high-priced investments from the wrath of “The Technician.”

“To me, it’s very upsetting,” Ortiz said. “I came off a great performance against Lomachenko. Most of the world thought I won. The rankings have me amongst the top 10 in the world. But there’s no fight for me? No good opponent for me? It’s kind of wild.
“There are so many great fights that can be made right now. Me versus George Kambosos. Me versus Isaac Cruz. Joseph Diaz. Javier Fortuna. There are so many guys with big names who are willing to fight. Why can’t we put these fights together?”

And if the buzz from the Lomachenko fight happens to be wearing off five months later, Ortiz added, “then it’s my job is to put myself back in [the conversation].
“One of the things I’ve learned over the years is to keep myself relevant. That’s why I tweeted what I did. I let my feelings out. I understand the business. I have to start poking these guys. The fans and boxing journalists are who make things happen. If the fans are demanding a certain fight and the promoter knows it’s guaranteed to make money, then the promoter will make it happen. If the writers talk about it enough, it begins to make sense. Fighters need to be vocal. Someone has to talk about it.”

Ortiz’s promoter, CES Boxing president Jimmy Burchfield Sr., is eager to join the conversation. Said Burchfield: “From Day 1, Jamaine Ortiz has answered the bell and willingly stepped inside the ring no matter the challenge. He doesn’t duck opportunities. He isn’t afraid to take on anyone. All he’s asking for is the opportunity to showcase his ability against the best in the world and be given the same opportunity as his peers. Jamaine is no longer boxing’s best-kept secret. After what he did against Lomachenko, the secret’s out, and it’s time he gets the opportunities he deserves.”

Social media can be influential in determining which fighters get pushed to the top of the conversation, and Ortiz is cognizant of what is being said and who is doing the talking, even if he isn’t as active online as other fighters. “The Technician” noted a recent interview with former two-time super featherweight Shakur Stevenson, whose wish list for 2023 included a potential showdown with Ortiz, whom he described as a “tough fight for whoever.” And after visiting the Top Rank Boxing Gym in Las Vegas, Ortiz is even more convinced his performance against Lomachenko has forced other 135-pounders to shy away from a potential matchup.

“Shakur Stevenson, he puts respect on my name,” Ortiz said. “They know me. They know the type of fighter I am. No one is calling me an easy opponent or a pushover. If I’m an easier fight, then why aren’t they calling me name? I want to know who in the world has ever called me out to fight. Nahir Albright might be the only one who’s ever said something. We originally had that fight on Triller [on November 28, 2020], then he pulled out, but we got it back [on Showtime in 2022] and I beat him up.

“When have I ever said no to fight? At the same time, who’s calling me out? With me being at this level now, who dares call my name?”

Of late, Ortiz has fought the best of the best; his last five opponents boast a combined record of 80-8-2, including the dynamic Lomachenko, whom many felt Ortiz was on the verge of beating until the final three rounds. Ortiz still thinks he did enough from rounds 1 through 8 to earn the decision, but admits he lost the last three as Lomachenko found his second wind. Even in a losing effort, Ortiz’s stock rose that night, and “The Technician” is certain other prospects are going to be more selective in 2023 knowing his ability to push opponents to the limit. While being feared is certainly a compliment, it can also be detrimental to a young fighter’s progress.

“Why would promoters take a guy who they’ve invested time and money in and put him in there against something they know will beat him?” Ortiz said. “They won’t give me the opportunity to look good against a good opponent and build me up. Why not get me a world title?

“I’m not in a position to be used as an opponent. Every single time I’ve fought, from a performance level and an entertainment level, people always talk about me. Whether it’s Triller, Showtime, ESPN, I’m always going to be a trending topic. I don’t see why they wouldn’t want to continue to bring me up and have me fight when they know I put on a show. I’m not a boring fighter.”

Having expressed his thoughts publicly on one of the world’s largest platforms, Ortiz once again plays the waiting game as he seeks a career-changing opportunity in 2023. The difference now is Ortiz is more than willing to stir the pot if others aren’t willing to put their records – and reputations – on the line.

“I’ve waited a long time. I’m going on seven years as a pro. I’ve been very patient and I’ve been taking everything that comes my way,” Ortiz said. “I’ve been quiet a long time. Now I want to take a little bit more control of my career. Am I wrong for that? Am I wrong for trying to make fights happen or asking for the best?

“I won’t talk trash to a fighter for no reason. But how am I going to sell a fight? In this business, social media, twitter is the place to be. Journalists and boxing writers take what you post on social media and blow it up and circulate it through other media outlets. I have to put my voice out there. If no one wants to fight, then I have to poke at people. I don’t want to just wait, wait, wait and then regret it later.”

(March 13, 2023) — Former light heavyweight world champion Jean Pascal returns to the ring in a 12-round IBF light heavyweight world title eliminator against German contender Michael Eifert this Thursday, March 16, at Place Bell in Laval, Canada.

Pascal-Eifert and undercard bouts will stream live and exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+ starting at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. This event is promoted by DiBella Entertainment, in association with Groupe Yvon Michel and Jean Pascal Promotions, and in collaboration with Blanko Sports and SES Sports Events GmbH. 
 
Pascal (36-6-1, 20 KOs) captured his first world title in 2009 when he defeated Adrian Diaconu for the WBC championship. He made three defenses, including a stoppage win over Chad Dawson in 2010. Pascal lost the title to Bernard Hopkins the following year, but he remained a force in the division with wins against Lucian Bute, Yunieski Gonzalez, Marcus Browne and Badou Jack, in addition to tough battles with Sergey Kovalev, Eleider Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol. The 40-year-old is coming off a decision win over then-undefeated Fanlong Meng. Eifert (11-1, 4 KOs) debuted in 2018 and suffered one setback via majority decision against Tom Dzemski in 2020. He is 5-0 since his lone defeat, including a decision win over Dzemski in their July 2021 rematch.

• Italian welterweight standout Yoel Angeloni (1-0) looks to make it 2-0 against Alexander Calixto (1-1, 1 KO) in a four-rounder.

Unbeaten Polish cruiserweight Adrian “Pretty Boy” Pinheiro (10-0-1, 9 KOs), fighting out of Orlando, will headline in the 8-round main event against Demetrius Banks (5 KOs), of Detroit. The 25-year-old Pinheiro is coming off his lone non-victory as a professional this past February 25, fighting Isaiah Thompson to a 6-round split draw. Bank is best known for ruining the professional debut of Antwaun Tubbs, the son of former world heavyweight champion Tony Tubbs, by way of a 4-round technical knockout in 2014.

“Adrian is seeking redemption after he fought to a draw in his last fight (Feb. 25^th vs. Isaiah Thompson),” added Blanco, who trains Pinhiero. “He’s stepping up to fight his first scheduled 8-round bout and his first main event. He’s coming off a draw but he’s looking at it as a loss. He wants to put that fight behind and move forward. Not only did he want to go 8 rounds, but he also wanted to fight a tough, durable opponent. Most fighters coming off a draw, they’d want a tune-up fight to build back their confidence, but Adrian is ready for what’s coming next for him in his career.”

In the 6-round co-featured event, undefeated 22-year-old Jeovanny Estela, 10-0, 3 KOs) will put his perfect pro record on the line against Saul “Navajo” Corral (23-20, 13 KOs), of Mexico. Corrall, who is a former WBC FECARBOX welterweight champion, clearly represents the toughest test of Estela’s young pro boxing career. Battle-tested Corrall has been in the ring with world champions such as Sadam Ali and Victor Ortiz, as well as several contenders, and hot prospects like Estella.

Cuban Idalberto Umara (9-1, 6 KOs), fighting out of Miami, will make his first title defense of the WBA Fedecaribe Lightweight crown in a 10-round title fight versus a challenger to be announced. Umara captured his Fedecarbie championship belt in his last fight by way of a second-round technical knockout of Deivi Julio this past February 25^th at Caribe Royale in Orlando.

Two other Cuban boxers are scheduled to be in action. Miami-based welterweight Damian Lascaille (3-0, 2 KOs) vs. TBA in a 4-rounder, while Las Vegas heavyweight Henrich Ruiz Cordoba (1-0, 1 KO) is matched in a 6-round bout against veteran Mexican fighter Jose “Olympico” Humberto Corrall (20-32, 12 KOs).

Orlando cruiserweight Daine Smikle (1-0), who was a member of the Jamaican National Boxing Team, is a former Connecticut resident (New Haven) like Blanco who has also resettled in Orlando. Smikle is in a 4-round match vs. TBA.

NEW YORK (March 11, 2023)–Four Split-T Management fighters picked up victories over the weekend.

Friday night in Bethlehem, PA, heavyweight Devon Young remained undefeated with a vicious second round stoppage over Lemir Riley in a four-round bout.

In round two, with Riley leaning in, Young unleashed a perfect uppercut on the jaw that sent Riley face-first and momentarily out cold at 2:50.

Young of AIken, South Carolina is 4-0 with three knockouts. Riley of New Cumberland, PA is 2-1.

Young is promoted by King’s Promotions.

In Wolverhampton, England, Former two-time world title challenger Kandi Wyatt captured the WBA Intercontinental Welterweight title with a 10-round split decision over Kirstie Bavington.

Wyatt of Calgary, Alberta, Canada won by tallies of 98-92 twice and one card had it for Bavington 96-94.

Wyatt is now 11-4. Bavington of England is 7-3-2.

On the same card, junior middleweight Logan Hollier dropped a decision to former world champion Hannah Rankin. Hollier, who is promoted by DiBella Entertainment, is now 9-3-1.

Saturday in Philadelphia, 2021 United States Olympian Oshae Jones remained undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over former world champion Dahianna Santana in a welterweight bout at the 2300 Arena.

Jones of Toledo, Ohio won by scores of 60-54 twice and 59-55 and is now 2-0. Santana of New York is 40-15.

On the same card, super flyweight LeAnna Cruz won a six-round unanimous decision over Devany Cuevas Torres.

Cruz of Allentown, PA won by scores of 60-54 twice and 59-55 to raise her mark to 4-0. Torres of San Antonio is 2-3-1.

Wyatt, Jones, Cruz and Hollier are managed by Brian Cohen.

NEW YORK – March 13, 2023 – Nearly two months after O’Shaquie Foster became the 88^th SHOBOX: The New Generation alumni to win a world title, two young super lightweight prospects will battle it out on the prospect-oriented series as returnee Shinard Bunch (20-1-1, 16 KOs) from Queens, N.Y., takes on Mexico’s Bryan Flores (23-0-1, 13 KOs) in a 10-round super lightweight contest Friday, April 7 at 10 p.m. ET/PT live on SHOWTIME^® from Cache Creek Casino in Brooks, Calif.

The SHOBOX^® tripleheader pits six fighters with a combined record of 95-2-1 and 62 knockouts.

In the co-main event, Neri Romero (16-0, KOs) of Argentina takes on Frency Fortunato (15-1, 11 KOs) of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in a 10-round super featherweight bout. The telecast opener pits Raul Garcia (12-0, 10 KOs) of the Dominican Republic against Robert Terry (9-0, 3 KOs) of Jersey City, N.J., with both fighters putting their unbeaten streaks to the test in an eight-round super welterweight bout. They all hope to one day follow in the footsteps of Foster, who out-dueled Rey Vargas on February 11 on SHOWTIME to capture the WBC Super Featherweight World Championship after he fought four times on SHOBOX.

The card is promoted by Sampson Lewkowicz and his Sampson Boxing promotion company.

Bunch vs. Flores – 10-Round Super Lightweight Main Event

Managed by International Boxing Hall of Famer, J. Russel Peltz, the 23-year-old Bunch suffered a controversial split draw in his SHOBOX debut against the tough and undefeated Janelson Figueroa Bocachica. Following the draw, he reeled off five consecutive wins, including his last fight in December, a unanimous decision against Henry Lundy. Since turning pro in 2019, Bunch fought five times in 2020 and eight times in 2021 before slowing down a bit with three bouts in 2022. Bunch’s only pro loss came in 2019 in just his third fight, a unanimous decision loss to SHOBOX alum and amateur standout Paul Kroll. Bunch started his boxing path at age 7 and had more than 400 amateur fights, earning a No. 3 national ranking from the 2016 Nationals and a spot on the USA Boxing national team. A native of Queens, N.Y., Bunch currently lives and trains in Trenton, N.J.

“It’s a blessing to be back on SHOBOX,” said Bunch, who was on the same USA National team as Errol Spence Jr., and Shakur Stevenson. “Not only on SHOBOX, but as a main event. I’ve always dreamed of this. I have a great opponent who is very tough, and I know he’s coming to fight. He’s 23-0 looking to make a statement, so this is definitely going to be a war. This fight should come down to who wants it more.”

Flores was a Mexican national champion as an amateur in 2010 and 2011 and a bronze medalist in 2012. He fought 90 times in the amateur ranks suffering just eight defeats. Flores has fought almost entirely in Mexico, except for one bout in Carson in December of 2021 when he knocked out Tyrone Luckey in the first round.

“I think my opportunity has arrived, I am very motivated,” Flores said. “I am happy for the opportunity and I want to give everything in each training session. I feel that I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.”

Romero vs. Fortunato – 10-Round Super Featherweight Bout

Romero amassed a 49-7 amateur record with 12 KOs. He was a 2014 gold medalist of the Star Tournament (Torneo de las estrellas) and 2015 champion at the Challenge Tournament of Argentina, Uruguay and Chile. Romero fought twice in 2022, his last win coming by way of eighth-round TKO in August against Jorge Sanchez.

“I’m glad to come back to the U.S. for such a great opportunity,” Romero said. “This is the most important fight of my career as a great win will put me in a great position to finally have shot at the world title. I’ll do anything to get away with an impressive victory. That’s exactly what I’m training for.”

Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Fortunato has fought just twice in the U.S, and last September he showed his boxing skills and power holding off a late rally from the aggressive Bernard Torresto capture a split decision on SHOBOX in Atlantic City, N.J. Previously, he stopped Julio Buitrago in two rounds in Daytona Beach in August 2020 and prior to that win, he had beaten two consecutive undefeated opponents in then 14-0 Marcos Muniz and then 6-0 Misael Vasquez. Fortunato’s lone blemish came at the hands of Argentine Alberto Ezequiel Melian in a 10-round unanimous decision loss in Argentina in which Fortunato sent Melian to the canvas four times.

“I’m so happy to come back to SHOBOX and I want to thank my manager Gardner Payne, who is helping me to reach my goal to become world champion,” Fortunato said. “I know my opponent is experienced and has fought internationally, but he’s never faced a boxer like me and when we finally meet he will see that I am one of the top featherweight boxing prospects in the world.”

Garcia vs. Terry – Eight-Round Super Welterweight Bout

An excellent puncher with fast hands, 24-year-old Garcia of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, had over 150 amateur fights before turning professional in May 2021 and quickly rattled off a dozen impressive victories over domestic competition, including taking the undefeated “0” of countryman Francisco Ernesto Sanchez. He was last seen in December 2022, stopping then 22-3 veteran Angel Yomar Mateo in six rounds. Garcia says he began to dream of becoming a world champion after meeting the great Oscar De La Hoya as a young amateur.

“This will be my first trip to the U.S. to fight, and I want to show that I deserve this big opportunity,” Garcia said. “I know that many fighters who start on SHOBOX reach my dream of becoming a world champion. I hope to reach the heights of my idol, Oscar De La Hoya someday.”

Terry began boxing at age 14 and won five New Jersey Golden Glove titles, including four at 152 pounds. He was a 2017 National Golden Gloves finalist at 165 pounds. Born and raised in Jersey City, N.J., Terry had approximately 65 amateur fights and fought in Ireland in 2010 as an amateur.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to fight on SHOBOX,” Terry said. “I see this as a chance to showcase my talent in front of a national audience and I’m hopeful that this win could lead to bigger opportunities for me. I have a great team that I trust and I can’t wait to execute the game plan on April 7.”

LAS VEGAS (March 13, 2023) –- Former World Super Middleweight Champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (44-1, 30 KOs) returns to the ring this Saturday for the first time during his 13 ½-year pro career after suffering a loss against two-time world title challenger Gabriel “King” Rosado (26-16-1, 15 KOs), in the 12-round main event on a stacked card promoted by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Zurdo Promotions, streaming live on DAZN (8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT) from The Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California.

The 31-year-old Ramirez, fighting out of Mazatlan, Mexico, didn’t have his hand raised in victory for the first time as a pro this past November in Abu Dhabi, when World Boxing Association (WBA) Super World Light Heavyweight Champion Dmitriy Bivol (21-0) successfully defended his crown by way of a 12-round unanimous decision.

“It just wasn’t my night and meant for my opponent,” Ramirez explained about his fight with Bivol. “Looking back, I could have been a little more active, but it is what it is. I definitely would like a rematch in the future.”

First, though, “Zurdo” needs to get back on the winning track versus Rosado, Philadelphia-born of Puerto Rican heritage, who is best known for his stubborn toughness. Rosado, who holds wins over former world champions Joshua Clottey and Kassim Ouma, will be moving up to the light heavyweight division for the first time against Ramirez.  

“He (Rosado) is a tough opponent who is always ready to fight,” Ramirez said. “He has been in the ring with the best and can be dangerous at any time of the fight. And to have it be a Mexico versus Puerto Rico match-up is just a cherry on top to make this an exciting fight for fans.”

His loss to Bivol has left “Zurdo” even more motivated.

“It’s a different feeling’” Ramirez noted, “but preparation does not change. I’m more motivated than ever to get back on track and show why I’m still one of the best in the game.”

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – March 13, 2023 –Julian Rodriguez came back from a 21 month layoff to win an eight-round unanimous decision over streaking Kashon Hutchinson in the main welterweight main event at The Wind Creek Event Center in Bethlehem, PA.

The seven-bout card was promoted by King’s Promotions.

Rodriguez came out fast as he landed some booming power punches which landed flush on Hutchinson. Hutchinson showed an amazing chin as the punches that landed did not seem to faze the Reading, Pa. fighter. The middle rounds saw Hutchinson try to peck away and get some punches through on Rodriguez. Rodriguez showed some solid boxing ability down the stretch.

Rodriguez of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ won by scores of 80-72 and 78-74 on two cards to raise his mark to 22-1. Hutchinson had his seven fight win streak snapped and is now 10-6.

Mikenna Tansley won the NABF and WBA Continental Americas Bantamweight Titles with an eight-round unanimous decision over Amy Salinas.

Tansley was aggressive throughout the fight, and pushed Salinas back repeatedly. In round six, Tansley switched to southpaw and boxed beautifully from that stance over the final three frames and won by scores of 79-73 twice and 78-74.

Tansley of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada is 7-2. Salinas of Las Cruces, NM is 4-4.

Jonathan Rodriguez won a six-round unanimous decision over Wilner Soto in a bantamweight contes.

Rodriguez of Bethlehem, PA won by scores of 60-54 on each card and is now 14-1-1. Soto of Colombia is 22-12.

Thanjhae Teasley remained undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over Emmanuel Tennison in a welterweight clash.

Teasley of Bethlehem, PA won by scores of 60-54 on all cards and is now 6-0. Tennison of Fort Worth, Texas is 3-5.

Johnny Spell scored a knockdown en-route to a six-round unanimous decision over ANtonio Dunton-El in a lightweight contest.

Spell of Pittsburgh won by scores of 60-53 twice and 59-54 and is now 8-0. Dunton-El of Baltimore is 3-2-2.

Francis Oran stopped Joseph Bond after round two of their four-round heavyweight bout.

Oran dominated the bout and Bond’s corner saw enough to pull their fighter after the second frame.

Oran of Allentown, is 3-0 with two knockouts. Bond of Orlando is 0-5.

Devon Young scored a vicious second round stoppage over Lemir Riley in a battle of undefeated heavyweights.

In round two, Riley leaned in and caught an uppercut right on the chin and was momentarily knocked out cold face-first at 2:50.

Young of AIken, South Carolina is 4-0 with three knockouts. Riley of New Cumberland, PA is 2-1.

Katie Taylor has the chance to become a two-weight undisputed World Champion when she takes on undisputed Super-Lightweight World Champion Chantelle Cameron in a historic homecoming fight at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday May 20, shown live worldwide on DAZN.

Irish legend Taylor (22-0, 6 KOs) fights in Ireland for the first time in her professional career as she bids to create even more history and further cement herself as the greatest female fighter on the planet when she meets England’s Cameron.

Taylor edged out Amanda Serrano in an epic fight for the ages on an iconic night at a sold-out Madison Square Garden in New York last April. The global superstar retained her Undisputed Lightweight World Title belts after a Fight of the Year contender with multi-division World Champion Serrano.

It was the first women’s boxing bout to headline the famous MSG in its 140-year history, attracting an unprecedented audience of 1.5 million tuning in globally on DAZN. The rivals were set to rematch in Dublin on May 20 until Serrano withdrew due to injury last month.

Promoted by Scott Abella, the electrifying event, highlighting professional boxers out of New Jersey and New York, includes an eight-fight card: four-six-rounders (6) and four-four-rounders (4) – (SUBJECT TO CHANGE). 

Featured in the slate of potential six-rounders, the undefeated, and ascending boxing star, Raymond “The Scientist” Cuadrado, will put his 5-0-0 record up on the line against Usiel Hernandez (2-1-0) in a junior lightweight bout (scheduled at 135 lbs). 

Standing at 5’9, Cuadrado, fighting out of Ridgewood, Queens, NY, has become a lethal prospect for boxing fans to zone in on. With the well-known alias of “The Scientist”, he made his pro-debut back in April of 2021 and gained a superb following after his Bergen County Fight Night 2 performance in July of 2022, presented by Abella Boxing. 

“It’s just a great energy between the promoter, and staff members,” Cuadrado said about returning on an Abella Boxing Promotions card. “The environment, and being close to home, so my hometown supporters can always show up and show love at the events.”

The 26-year-old continues to climb the ranks with his dynamic versatility in the ring and plans to add to his resume on Saturday night April 1st. 

“I’m always looking one step ahead, thinking one step ahead,” Cuadrado said. “Making sure everything is right where I want it every single time.”

He added: “I’m just coming stronger, and I’m ready to display new skills that people haven’t seen out of me before. Constantly thinking of leveling up.” 

For sure, an elite type of mindset, but what connects Cuadrado’s demeanor to “leveling up,” varies among many, if not, all within the boxing spectrum. You see, when Cuadrado finds the time and isn’t in the gym, he utilizes his skills as an avid video game streamer on Twitch. 

“Whenever I’m able to, I try to stream on Twitch, just to have some fun with the community, and try to build a fanbase there, if possible,” Cuadrado noted. 

“It’s always nice when you see two interesting groups collaborating, so, that’s what I try to do with boxing and video games. Have fun with it, bring one community into another by trying to bridge that gap.” 

Furthermore, Cuadrado remains growing his fanbase bout by bout and is expected to have a massive group of supporters traveling from across the NY/NJ region to attend Bergen County Fight Night 3. 

“I’m happy to see new people become fans, and purchase tickets,” he said. “Seeing not only new faces, but more faces fill out the seats just to come out and support me is always a good feeling. As I continue to grow as a fighter, it’s only gonna reach a bigger fanbase.” 

Additionally, Bergen County Fight Night 3 will mark Cuadrado’s first pro-bout of six rounds as well as his heaviest, scheduled at 135 lbs. But, with that said, he’s all set to go, awaiting the calendar to strike Saturday, April 1st.

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – March 10, 2023 – Undefeated Australian superstar Tim Tszyu and former world champion Tony “Superbad” Harrison met face-to-face in front of the iconic Sydney Harbor Bridge and famed Sydney Opera House on Friday, putting their differences aside to shake hands and wish each other good luck at the final press conference ahead of their showdown for the vacant Interim WBO 154-pound title live on SHOWTIME Saturday March 11 at 10:45 p.m. ET/7:45 p.m. PT.

While Harrison strolled onto the dais shirtless and looking supremely confident, Tszyu took his time at Bennelong Lawn and Royal Botanic Gardens before exiting a Dodge Ram Viper V10 in a dazzling blue suit.

“I like Tim,” Harrison said on stage. “I don’t think he knows how corny he is, but I like him. That’s cool the way he rolled up. That’s him. I like it. I’m just different.”

“I’m not into all this diva stuff, rolling up in a car,” Tszyu admitted. “I just roll with the punches. All this other stuff, it doesn’t matter to me.”

Four-time world champion and International Women’s Boxing Hall of Famer Jaime “Hurricane” Clampitt headlines CES Boxing’s Park Theatre debut in an eight-round lightweight showdown against Brazilian Taynna Cardoso and unbeaten super featherweight prospect Alejandro Paulino returns in the six-round co-main event against dangerous veteran Derrick Murray, highlighting a full day of boxing that also features the Jimmy Burchfield Classic Invitational VII matinee amateur boxing showcase.

Full fight card details for Rhode Wars 3 were announced yesterday at the Park Theatre’s newly-launched Comedy Park, part of a highly-publicized series of renovations under the Theatre’s new ownership. The venue’s first combat sports event features a handful of household names, highlighted by the iconic Clampitt (23-6-2, 7 KOs), who aims for her first victory in 13 months amidst her second comeback following an eight-year layoff between 2013 and 2021. The 34-year-old Cardoso boasts a lengthy amateur career before making her professional debut in 2017 and is just three weeks removed from a back-and-forth showdown with 31-fight legend Heather Hardy.

The 24-year-old prodigy Paulino (11-0, 10 KOs) last fought in January against Ryizeemmion Ford in a bout originally scored a fifth-round knockout win for Paulino and later ruled a no contest. The New London, CT, native tries again for win No. 12 against the durable Murray (17-7-1, 6 KOs), whose gone the distance in 17 of his 25 pro bouts. Murray has fought everywhere from 126 to 140 pounds, but has historically been at his best between super featherweight and lightweight, most recently scoring key victories over previously-unbeaten prospect Angel Flores and 87-fight vet DeMarcus Corley.

Fighting for the first time under the CES banner, newly-signed, undefeated junior middleweight prospect Anthony Velazquez (11-0, 10 KOs) of Springfield, MA, faces hard-charging Brazilian Rodrigo Lopes Rodrigues (8-4, 7 KOs) in a six-round bout. Velazquez competed in the Junior Olympics as a 16-year-old amateur before embarking on his pro career with four fights in 2018. The 26-year-old rising star won his first nine fights by knockout and figures to face his toughest test March 25 against the pesky Rodrigues, who went six hard rounds with Francis Hogan with CES in June and remains the only fighter to go the distance with the lanky left-hander.

Celebrating its 99th anniversary, the Historic Park Theatre & Event Center is a 1,015-seat performance art theatre that originally opened in 1924 and reopened in October of 2022 under new ownership with major renovations that include the newly-launched Park Place Café, Comedy Park, and Rolfe Supper Club on the second floor. Owned by restaurateurs Ed Brady and Jeff Quinlan, the historic Park, located across the street from Cranston City Hall at 848 Park Ave., is capable of hosting an array of events and will expand later this year to include tributes to Queen, Bruce Springsteen, and Michael Jackson. The Park Theatre will be a space for the Rhode Island community to come together and bring history back to life.

LAVAL, Québec, Canada (March 7, 2023) — A loaded undercard for the Jean Pascal vs. Michael “Diesel” Eifert International Boxing Federation (IBF) Light Heavyweight Title Eliminator card, “No Limit”, presented by Mise-O-Jeu, has been announced for March 16^th at Place Bell in Laval, Canada.

Two former world champions and a pair of Olympians and three female bouts will be showcased on “No Limit,” which will be available on ESPN+ in the United States,but available in Canada on Canal Indigo, Bell TV, Shaw TV and worldwide on GYMBoxe.tv and Fite.tv.

“No Limit” is promoted by DiBella Entertianment, in association with Groupe Yvon Michel and Jean Pascal Promotions, and in collaboration with Blanko Sports and SES Sports Events GmbH.

Pascal (36-6-1, 20 KOs), a two-time World Light Heavyweight Champion, takes on his German opponent, Eifert (11-1, 4 KOs), the actual IBF Inter-Continental and former unified IBF/WBC and WBO Youth Champion, in the 12-round main event to determine the mandatory challenger for IBF World title holder Artur Beterbiev (19-0, 19 KOs). Haiti-native Pascal, who has lived in Montreal since the late 1980s, is rated No. 3 by the IBF, while Eifert is ranked No. 5.

“The Jean Pascal vs. Michael Eifert IBF world title eliminator at Place Bell, in Laval, Quebec, Canada, will be supported by a tremendous undercard on March 16,” said Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment. “Fans in attendance will be treated to an exciting all-Canadian co-feature between super lightweights Mathieu Germain, of Quebec, and Steven Wilcox, of Ontario, in a 10-round contest. Canada’s women’s boxing scene will be well represented with former world title challenger Jessica Camara and Olympian Caroline Veyre, both from Montreal, in separate bouts, along with Ontario’s Amanda Galle, who is on the verge of a world title opportunity. Ireland’s light heavyweight prospect Joe Ward will look to add another impressive win to his ledger on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day and Italy’s amateur prodigy Yoel Angeloni will make his North American debut.”

Providing chief support in the 10-round, co-featured event is an exciting Canadian showdown for the IBF Inter-Continental super lightweight title between popular Mathieu “G-Time” Germain (21-2-1, 9 KOs) from Mascouche Quebec and Steven Wilcox (24-3-1, 7 KOs) from Hamilton Ontario. Germain, a former IBF International super lightweight champion, is riding a 3-fight win streak that started with his impressive victory over Steve Claggett (33-7-2, 23 KOs) by way of a 10-round decision. One of four boxing brothers, Wilcox is a former NABA Canadian super lightweight titleist who has won his last 6 straight matches.

Mathieu Germain is extremely excited about the opportunity: “I have been looking for this kind of fight for a long time where a victory will propel me directly with the best contenders in my division! I promise you I won’t miss, and I’ll leave the ring with this belt around my waist.”

World title contender Jessica “Cobra” Camara (10-3, 2 KOs), of Montreal, returns to Quebec for the first time since 2019. Camara has since fought 5 fights in the United States, including for the WBA and WBO super lightweight world championships versus Kali Reis (19-7-1, 5 KOs) in New Hampshire in November 2021. She lost a split decision in an extremely close and hard-fought fight, but has rebounded with two victories heading into this contest. Prisca Vicot was to be her opponent, but she withdrew last weekend. To replace her, Karla Ramos Zamora (9-9-1, 2KO) of Puebla for 10 rounds at super lightweight. The latter, who knocked out Viscot in 2020, accepted the challenge. Zamora is well known in Quebec for having offered a solid opposition to Leila Beaudoin last September, as evidenced by the 3 scores of 58-56 from the judges.

Another exciting female prospect is undefeated bantamweight and former Canadian amateur champion, Amanda Galles (7-0-1, 1 KO), who meets Lorena Cruz Aispuro (4-2, 0 KOs), of Mexico, in an 8-rounder.

Irish eyes will be smiling for promising Irishman “Mighty” Joseph Ward (8-1, 4 KOs), a 2016 Ireland Olympian, who will lead the St. Patrick’s Day celebration in an 8-round fight versus Mexican light heavyweight Mario Andrade Rodriguez (7-0, 4 KOs).

Rising featherweight star Caroline Veyre (2-0), a decorated Canadian amateur and 2020 Olympian, faced Emma “Valkyria” Gongora (5-2), of Marseille, France, in a 6-round match. The latter was injured in training and provided medical evidence on Tuesday. Another opponent will be announced this week.

Italian welterweight sensation Yoel Angeloni (1-0), the latest discovery of New York City-based promoter Lou DiBella, will make his North American debut as a professional in a 4-round battle against Alexander Calixto (1-1, 0 KOs).

NEW YORK – March 9, 2023 – Undefeated rising light heavyweight Ali Izmailov will step into the ring looking to kick off a big 2023 as he takes on Argentina’s Ariel Armando Basconcel in an eight-round bout this Saturday, March 11 from the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, Mass.

Fighting out of the Salita Promotions stable, Izmailov (9-0, 6 KOs) has begun a steady climb up the light heavyweight rankings ever since making his U.S. debut in October 2021. The 29-year-old hopes to make a leap to contender status sooner than later, and knows he must impress against Basconcel (13-4-1, 12 KOs).

“I had a really good camp and I’m feeling prepared going into the ring,” said Izmailov, who trains in Miami with renowned coach John David Jackson. “I’m looking forward to this fight and a big year. I’m definitely not overlooking my opponent, and I’m planning on giving a really sharp performance. My goal is to be a world champion and fight the best in the division. That means I have to do everything possible to be at my best each time I step into the ring.”

Now residing in Detroit when not training in Florida, Izmailov scored three victories in 2022, including wins over two previously unbeaten foes in his last two matchups. Those two triumphs saw Izmailov stop Abraham Tebes in three rounds in April before winning a 10-round unanimous decision over Eric Murguia in August.

Pittsburgh, PA (March 9, 2023) – World-Ranked super bantamweight Oleh Dovhun will defend his NABA Title against Juan Centeno on Friday night, March 17th at Priory Grand Hall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The night of championship boxing is promoted by Integrity Fighter Management and Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing.

Dovhun of Pittsburgh via Ukraine is ranked number-10 by the WBA on the strength of wins over Roger Blankenship (1-0) and. Daron Williams (7-0). Dovhun won the NABA Super Bantamweight title on November 13, 2021 with a 10-round unanimous decision over Glenn Dezurn (14-2-1). In his last bout, Dovhun defended his title with a 10-round split decision over Geram Eloyan on March 18, 2022 in Huntingtom, New York.

The 28 year-old Dovhun is promoted by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing, and he is managed by Integrity Fighter Management.

Centeno of Miami, Florida is 8-6-3 with one knockout. The 27 year-old is a native of Miami by way of Managua, Nicaragua. Centeno has a win over Keithlan Franklin (4-1-1) as well as three undefeated fighters in Abel Aparicio (8-0), Luis Rivera (7-0) and Fernando Bahena (4-0-1). The wins over Rivera and Bahena are the two most recent results for Centeno, with the Bahena fight taking place on January 21 in Commerce, California.

An outstanding undercard will be headed by rising and undefeated super middleweight Kiante Irving taking on Devaun Lee in a bout scheduled for six-rounds.

Irving of Beaver Falls, PA is 11-0-1 with all 11 wins coming by way of knockout. The 29 year-old Irving is coming off a third-round stoppage over Brent Oren on October 29, 2022 in Washington, PA.

Lee of Jamaica, Queens, New York is 10-8-1 with five knockouts. The 35 year-old Lee was a contestant on The Contender, and has wins over Ian Green (8-0), Chris Galeano (10-0), Robelle Rogers (4-1), former world title challenger Giovanni Lorenzo (37-7) and Carlos Rafael Cruz (17-1). Dieogo Pacheco wants to be recognised as a contender rather than a prospect once he knocks out Jack Cullen in their WBO International Super-Middleweight Title showdown at the M&S Bank Arena Liverpool this Saturday March 11, live on DAZN (excluding Australia and New Zealand).
 
The undefeated 22-year-old sensation, who fights in the UK for the first time in his career this weekend, is eager to make a big impression in front of Liverpool fight fans by stopping ‘Little Lever’s Meat Cleaver’ in what will now be the co-headline bout following Callum Smith’s injury.
 
“Jack Cullen I feel is a good opponent, finally someone that the fans know I guess,” said Pacheco. “If I beat him then it’s going to be like, ‘he beat this guy’, and I hope people are going to start believing in me a little bit more.
 
“After I get this win, I do feel that people will start recognising me more as a contender than a prospect. He’s tall and he has a lot of heart, but I’m a way better fighter than him. I see myself stopping him. He won’t be able to take my power. Once I see the opening, I’ll take it.
