SHEFFIELD, NOVEMBER  8 – Richard Schaefer rates Sunny Edwards as one of the top five boxers in the world for pure skill.

Probellum President Schaefer has delivered the headline-making verdict in the week Edwards defends his IBF world flyweight title against Felix Alvarado. 

The unbeaten Edwards – known as ‘Showtime’ – faces the most dangerous fight of his career against Alvarado on Friday night at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield and knows he must be close to perfect to see off the hard-hitting Nicaraguan. 

But Schaefer is backing Sunny to deliver the goods once again by using the skillset that, he believes, puts the 26-year-old among the very best boxers on the planet. 

“His ability to slip punches is at the absolute highest level of any weight class and from a skill point of view, I would rank Sunny Edwards today, in the top five pound-for-pound. That’s how good he is,” Richard Schaefer said. 

“He has the skills which and that will to win, and those qualities, combined with his confidence and his attitude, means he is a tough nut to crack.” 

Edwards is unbeaten in 18 fights as a professional and wants to land a mega fight with Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez in 2023 but is under no illusions about the task directly in front of him. 

Sunny Edwards said: “Alvarado was a world champion at the weight below, he has 33 KOs on his record, and he has boxed at the highest level.  He’s a big punching Nicaraguan, who has had more knockouts than I’ve had fights and he is hungry for this.”

Orlando, FL (November 7, 2022) – NABA middleweight champion Connor “The Kid” Coyle will defend his title against knockout artist Anibal Cleto Francisco in a battle of unbeatens Sunday, December 11 at the Caribe Royale in Orlando.

The card takes place during the WBA’s annual Centennial Convention, which is held at the Caribe Royale from December 11-14.

A native of Derry, Northern Ireland who trains out of Pinellas Park, FL Coyle’s 17-0 with 7 knockouts. Coyle became the NABA champion this past May when he earned a hard-fought decision against Antonio Todd. He was slated to face Felix Cash October 8 in England but the entire card was cancelled after main event participant Conor Benn failed a drug test. 

Hailing from Monte Plata, Dominican Republic, Francisco’s 10-0 with 9 of his victories coming by KO. On July 2, the 22-year-old stopped Yeison Gonzalez in the fifth round to capture the WBA Fedelatin title. 

“After the disappointment surrounding the cancellation of Connor’s fight in England, we wanted to find a good opportunity,” said Coyle’s promoter Jody Caliguire of Fire Fist Boxing Promotions. “The WBA Centennial Convention is a great event and Connor loves fighting at the Carribe Royale because he’s got a big fan base in Central Florida. He’s already back in the US preparing with Jim McLaughlin for this fight and is planning to put on a great show December 11.”

Estrada, who signed a long-term promotional pact with Top Rank earlier this year, will defend her WBA minimumweight world title Saturday against Jazmin Gala Villarino at Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

23-year-old Bunch began boxing at the New York City PAL when he was just five years old and eventually fought his way onto the USA National Amateur Team, alongside current world champions Errol Spence and Shakur Stevenson. Bunch first appeared on ShoBox: The New Generation in July 2021, fighting to a controversial 10-round split draw with fellow up-and-comer Janelson Figueroa Bocachica. Most observers had Bunch winning comfortably. He returned to the national airwaves with a shutout eight-round unanimous decision over Kazakhstan’s Shyngyskhan Tazhibay in January of this year.

“Training is going really good,” said Bunch of his preparations for Lundy. “He’s a good veteran and I know he’s coming to fight, but I feel like I’m a complete boxer. I feel like my speed and agility will be too much for him.”

Henry “Hank” Lundy started boxing at age 18, after knocking out a schoolyard bully, and went 65–5 as an amateur, winning several titles along the way. Lundy challenged superstar Terrence Crawford for the WBO Junior Welterweight Championship in 2016, and previously held the WBO–NABO and NABF Championships.

“He’s a young hungry fighter that comes to fight,” said Lundy of his foe. “He fought a guy I helped groom by sparring him, Paul Kroll, and I know he lost. I have too much experience for him. Experience is everything, plus all the tools I bring to the table. I’m a tough test for this young guy. Too tough.”

In the night’s 10-round super welterweight co-main event, once-beaten “GES” Guido Emmanuel Schramm (15-1-1, 9 KOs) of Moreno, Buenos Aires, Argentina, will have just his second fight in the United States against Mexican veteran Carlos Antonio Zatarain (16-6-2, 9 KOs).

26-year-old Schramm, currently the Argentinean champion of his weight class, was last seen winning a 10-round unanimous decision over his countryman Jonathan Wilson Sanchez in August of this year.

SHEFFIELD, NOVEMBER  7 – Sunny Edwards insists Julio Cesar Martinez deserved to be stripped of his WBC title the second he walked away from their unification fight. 

Edwards and Martinez were deep into negotiations to stage a blockbuster fight in Mexico last month, for the IBF and WBC world flyweight titles. 

Britain’s Edwards had been pushing to make the fight happen for months, but Martinez turned his back on the showdown and, instead, agreed to face his mandatory challenger McWilliams Arroyo in December. 

Edwards had to quickly put the disappointment of Martinez’s withdrawal behind him and, on Friday, night at Probellum Sheffield, the man known as ‘Showtime’ defends his belt against the extremely dangerous Felix Alvarado. 

But the 26-year-old is adamant there should be more than his IBF crown on the line at the Utilita Arena this week. 

“Martinez is not a rival of mine, he’s a muppet,” said Edwards, in scathing attack on the Mexican. 

“I saw him as easy work, but I was trying to sell it as being my hardest fight to date. 

“And, for me, Martinez is done in the division now.” 

Edwards wants to land a big-time fight with Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez in 2023 and had invited the US star to be at ringside in Sheffield this week. 

But the charismatic champion knows he cannot afford to overlook the hard-hitting Alvarado, who was previously an IBF title holder at light flyweight. 

“I have become one of the most avoided fighters in world boxing, but Felix Alvarado has the courage to face me on November 11, and that makes him an extremely dangerous opponent,” Edwards said. 

“I have grand plans to become the undisputed flyweight world champion, and then move through the weights, and I am totally confident that will happen – but there is no room for error against a fighter of Alvarado’s calibre, that’s for sure.”? 

During tonight’s SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast, it was announced that a high stakes matchup of undefeated fighters will round out SHOWTIME’s 2022 boxing lineup. Most recently he outboxed Jerry Perez earning a unanimous decision victory in October after dominating the previously unbeaten Joseph Adorno on his way to a unanimous decision in March.

The 27-year-old Martin ascended the lightweight rankings in 2021 with a pair of impressive victories before delivering a New Year’s Day KO over Romero Duno. In 2021, Martin knocked out the previously unbeaten Perez in a dominating performance in April, before earning a unanimous decision over Ryan Kielczweski in August. He showed the full complement of his skills that have made him one of the most talked about up-and-comers in the 135-pound division in his last outing in July, as he delivered a methodical destruction of Jackson Mariñez before stopping him in the 10^th and final round. Originally from Indianapolis, Ind., Martin now trains in the Dallas-area under the guidance of James alongside his promoter, unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr.

Los Angeles, CA (November 4, 2022) In front of another sold-out Hollywood Fight Nights crowd in Los Angeles, CA, ‘King’ Callum Walsh and Serhii ‘El Flaco’ Bohachuk scored impressive knockout victories in the feature fights on the Tom Loeffler’s 360 Promotions event, broadcast globally on UFC Fight Pass.

The 21-year-old fast-rising star Walsh, improved to 5-0 with four knockouts, stopping Delen Parsley, (13-2, 4 KOs) in the third round (2:26). Using his full arsenal of power shots, Walsh dropped Parsley in the first and second rounds prior to the knockout victory being declared.

Said the jubilant super welterweight after the victory, “My last fight made me realize I hate going the distance. I’m here to knock people out and to entertain the people. I don’t care who’s next, I’m ready to fight again soon.”

World ranked super welterweight Bohachuk, (21-1, 21 KOs), continued his run of outstanding knockouts stopping Aaron Coley, (16-5-1, 7 KOs) in the second round (1:54). PLANT CITY, FL (November 5, 2022) – Thompson Boxing’s lightweight power punching contender, Miguel “Explosivo” Madueño (28-1, 26 KOs), got back in the world title picture after scoring a knockout over Juan Huertas (16-4-1, 12 KOs), last night at the Whitesands Events Center in Plant City, FL. The scheduled 10-round bout served as the co-main event on the ProBox Last Chance Tournament.

After slowly breaking down Huertas over four full rounds, Madueño landed a series of powerful left hooks in round five that send Huertas to the canvas, forcing him to take a knee. Huertas, considered a dangerous opponent from Panama who just defeated Jonhatan Cardoso (14-1, 14 KOs) by TKO, couldn’t continue, and the fight was stopped at the 2:15 mark, crowning Madueño the new WBO Latino champion.

“I felt really strong and composed in this fight.” said Madueño, who bounced back from his first loss as a professional. “I had an incredible training camp up in the mountains of Mexico, where I was isolated from any distractions. I wanted to take my time and pick my shots wisely, and everything camp together. I could see all his punches coming. Everything slowed down and I was able to lands some powerful punches. I got him out of there and that was the plan going in.”

With the victory, Madueño, who is promoted by Thompson Boxing, is back in the world title picture at lightweight. The division is loaded with big names and Madueño feels he can compete with all of them.

“Right now, Devin Haney is the king of the lightweight division, and hopefully I will fight him one day,” continued Madueño. “There are many other big names like Ryan Gacia, Tank Davis and Shukur Stevenson, who are all potential opponents for me down the road. I feel I’m one of the biggest punchers in all of boxing and with a few more victories, I’ll be right there ready to fight for a world title. I’m still working my way up, but everyone better take notice, because I’m coming.”

SAM NOAKES IS back in search of a perfect 10 when he makes his return at the 02 Arena on November 26 after making his recovery from a broken thumb, live on BT Sport.

Thrill-a-minute lightweight Sam was due to fight back in July before a sparring injury sustained while working with Archie Sharp put him on the missing list.

Now he is set to fight for the Commonwealth title against the unbeaten Scot Calvin McCord on the undercard of the big Zach Parker-John Ryder clash for the WBO Interim world super middleweight title.

“Camp was going well and I was sparring Archie,” reflected Noakes, 25. “I think it was the seventh or eighth round, right at the end, and I switched through, misjudged the distance and hit him on top of the head. I thought ‘that hurt’, then I carried on, hit a few jabs out and it was still hurting.

“So I stopped and they took my hand out of the glove and my thumb was wedged underneath. I went to the hospital and, after the x-ray, she called me straight in. I thought ‘this ain’t good’ because normally you are just sat there if it is not urgent and they just leave you there.

“I had snapped it with a clean break. At least you know where you stand with a clean break, it is sweet now, but it was a pain in the ar*e at the time and I wasn’t very happy!

“So I’ve been out for eight months and I’m an old has-been now… All forgotten about.”

“I’ve fallen on my feet here though, having the Commonwealth title, so I am happy with that.”

Noakes resisted the temptation of becoming a couch potato during his absence and hit the road to keep in trim.

“As soon as I got the solid cast on I was running straight away. If I had sat about eating when I came back I would be a middleweight! So I kept ticking over and I was lucky to only have it on for about four weeks. When it came off I was pushing weights and I was happy just to be back in the gym.

From his pro debut in 2015, Tyrone James began cementing himself as a must see attraction every time out. His first prove it test came in January of 2018 at “Rockin’ Fights” 29, when he took on Alex Duarte (then 13-3-1 10KO’s) in a scheduled 6-round fight. In a back and forth first round, James began to find his timing and exploded when he feinted by crouching down, before coming back up to land a precise left hand, followed by a barrage of nearly 15 punches which caused referee Pat Sullivan to stop the fight at the 1:45 mark of the third round.

James would continue to remain perfect, defeating Keasen Freeman with a seismic one punch first round knockout (watch the knockout HERE), followed by Leo Carrizalez with an insane 7 consecutive uppercuts 8th round TKO (watch the knockout HERE).   Ray Oliveira Jr. was next on the James list of knockout victims, as James pinned Oliveira in the corner and landed a multi punch combination causing Pat Sullivan to step in at the 1:47 mark of round 2 (watch the knockout HERE). All the momentum came to a halt thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, followed by an elbow surgery (Tommy John surgery) that had James out of the ring for two years and six months. Finally, the day came on March 18th, and James was ready to blast back on the scene. Wasting no time, James took on well respected Jimmy Williams (then 18-6-2 6KO’s) in what was a feet to the fire return to action at “Rockin’ Fights” 41. After shaking off some rust, a perfectly timed 4th round counter overhand right launched over a Williams jab and landed flush. HAMZAH SHEERAZ WILL bid to add the Commonwealth middleweight title to his WBC Silver belt when he takes on the highly-rated River Wilson-Bent at the 02 Arena on November 26, live on BT Sport.

Zach Parker vs John Ryder tops the bill at the popular Greenwich venue, with Dennis McCann (against Joe Ham) and Sam Noakes (against Calvin McCord) also fighting for Commonwealth titles on the night at super bantamweight and lightweight respectively, while Pierce O’Leary takes on Emmanuel Mungandjela with the WBC International super lightweight title at stake.

Along with the Commonwealth title, Sheeraz (16-0, 12 KOs), 23, will be making a first defence of his WBC Silver title he won last time out by defeating Francisco Emanuel Torres via a fifth round stoppage. “I was in the gym when I got the call. A few fights had fallen out, and I knew I was in great shape. This is what I have been training for and staying motivated for, so now I just must trust the process. I have been helping people get ready in the gym, and now it’s my turn. Next man up, you know the drill!”

On his matchup with Cato-Cain:

“He seems like a good awkward fighter. I don’t think he has fought many southpaws, and I am a very tricky. I believe he sparred with Manny Pacquiao and Terence Crawford, so I know at the very least he will be tough. He probably brings something to the table, but I just don’t think he will be comfortable fighting a southpaw who is willing to take him into deep waters.”

On what a win will do for his career:

“This will be a defining moment in my career. Defeating an undefeated heavily hyped local favorite in his hometown would make my boxing career a success. I am coming to win. This is everything I have trained for. A win will get me to bigger paydays.”

PLANT CITY, FL (November 3, 2022) – Thompson Boxing’s lightweight Miguel Madueño (27-1, 25 KOs), is looking to bounce back from the first loss of his career when he faces Juan Huertas (16-3-1, 12 KOs), on Friday, November 4th, at the Whitesands Events Center in Plant City, Florida. The 10-round bout will broadcast worldwide on ProBoxTV.com with the WBO Latino Championship on the line.

“I have had a great camp and made major improvements since my first career loss,” said the power-puncher Madueño, who has an 89% KO ratio as a pro. “In my last fight I didn’t feel like myself, but now I am ready to bring the old ‘Explosivo’ back. I will knock this guy out and put the division on notice.”

In Madueño’s last fight, he lost a twelve-round decision to former world champion Jezreel Corrales, in March of this year. Since that fight, Madueño has not missed a day in the gym and has used the loss as motivation. 

“I wanted to be a world champion so bad and put a lot of pressure on myself to perform in my last fight,” said Madueño reflecting on his fight that had implications for a future world title shot. “I know now what I need to do, and how not to beat myself. I put myself in a position that made my last fight much harder.” 

Huertas recently upset undefeated Jonhatan Cardoso in June of this year and is hoping for a similar result on Friday, but Madueño doesn’t see it happening. 

“He is in a lot of trouble,” stated Madueño. “He has been knocked out twice, and I don’t see a way he can take my power at all. I am one of the hardest punchers in the division – when I hit him, he will fall, and he isn’t getting back up.”

Dubai, UAE – November 3, 2022 – A stacked lineup of exciting undercard attractions has been announced for the latest installment of the ground-breaking Global Titans Fight Series taking place Sunday, November 13, from the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai and live on pay-per-view, headlined by all-time-great boxing superstar Floyd “Money” Mayweather in an exhibition bout against UK-based YouTube sensation turned pro-boxer Deji Olatunji in the main event.

In the light heavyweight co-main event, Manchester’s Tommy “TNT” Fury (8-0, 4 KOs), will return to the ring to face New York-based Puerto Rican slugger Paul Bamba (5-2, 4 KOs) in a potentially explosive six-round non-title fight. Fury, the outspoken 23-year-old television personality and half-brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, will be looking to impress against Bamba and secure a long-awaited showdown against YouTube superstar turned fighter, Jake Paul.

In his most recent ring appearance, Fury scored a dominant six-round decision over Daniel Bocianski in April of this year. The 33-year-old Bamba, a fighter, ex-Marine and celebrity trainer from Puerto Rico and now living in New York, is coming off a second-round knockout victory over Francisco Morelos last September.

A world-class women’s bout will also highlight the undercard, as former two-time world champion and top super featherweight contender Delfine Persoon (47-3, 19 KOs) of Belgium will face proven Tunisian/German veteran Ikram Kerwat (11-3, 5 KOs) in a 10-round showdown.

37-year-old Persoon, a railway policewoman in her homeland, held the Women’s WBC Lightweight Championship for five years and made nine successful defenses. Best known for her heart-stopping two-fight series against top pound-for-pound fighter Katie Taylor, Persoon was last seen in action in May of this year when she won a close but unanimous 10-round decision over Elhem Mekhaled in Dubai.

With a combat-sports history dating back to age four, Kerwat has is trained by boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. along with former World Super Middleweight Champion Sven Ottke and won the WBC International Lightweight Championship in 2016 with a first-round stoppage over Gina Chamie. The 38-year-old Kerwat was last seen winning a shutout unanimous decision over Tanzania’s Happy Daudi in March of this year.

In a very special attraction, former WWE and AEW Wrestling superstar Bobby Fish will make his boxing debut against Ghanaian middleweight Boateng Pempreh (2-3, 2 KOs) in a four-round super middleweight slugfest. A former amateur kickboxer known for his striking-based wrestling style, the 45-year-old Fish will be looking to “walk the walk” in the ring after being highly critical of compatriot CM Punk’s MMA exploits.

The card will also include unbeaten 21-year-old prospect J’Hon Ingram (3-0, 3 KOs) stepping in for a four-round lightweight bout against Japanese kickboxing star Koji “Kouzi” Tanaka, who most recently stopped Mayweather’s bodyguard Ray Sadeghi in a custom rules match in September. Originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Ingram trains out of the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas and has been a frequent sparring partner of Mayweather’s.

The night will also feature an appearance by undefeated Cuban born Dubai resident and WBC International Super Featherweight Champion Jadier Herrera (8-0, 6 KOs), facing hard-hitting Colombian power-puncher Franklin Manzanilla (21-8, 20 KOs) in a 10-round duel.

In an intriguing eight round bout, once-beaten middleweight Harley Benn (9-1, 1 KO) of London, England, the son of former two-weight world champion Nigel Benn, returns to action in a battle against undefeated WBC Middle East Welterweight Champion Faizan Anwar (14-0, 6 KOs) of Calcutta, India, as they square off in a middleweight bout fought at a 155-pound catchweight

Rounding out the stacked night of action will be four-round light heavyweight matchup, former “Love Island” season four winner Jack Fincham will make his professional boxing debut in a tough test against Alameda, California’s Anthony “Pretty Boy” Taylor (2-3, 1 KO). “I’m predicting an eighth-round knockout. I’m going to go into the ring as be the best version of myself.

“I’m a hunter. I like hunting and it’s part of our culture. It’s hunting season right now in Kazakhstan, but I’m here in the United States and I’m here to hunt Morrell on Saturday night and bring that belt home.

“We respect the Cubans and their skills. But in the pros, there aren’t as many good fighters as in the amateurs. Whatever he has learned, I have those same skills. We both have power in both hands, and I’m going to let my fists speak for me.

“I’m always learning. I improved a lot with my training in Las Vegas because my coach, Kay Koroma, is a very experienced and well-known coach in American boxing. I had a good transition from the amateurs into the professional ranks and I learn something new with each fight. I grow as an athlete with each fight.

“There is nothing about David Morrell Jr. that concerns me. The danger with boxing is that every fighter is coming to hurt you. Every boxer is dangerous. There’s nothing special about him. I think that we are evenly matched fighters but the difference on Saturday night is going to be that I’m the smarter fighter and I want it more.

“If he’s promising something to his fans, he might have to apologize to them after he loses. I’m definitely coming to stop Morrell in this fight. I trained hard and I’m here to get the belt.

“If I get past David Morrell Jr. on Saturday, then I’d like to fight David Benavidez next. I’ve sparred with Canelo Alvarez before and I respect him. To get that fight, I have to prove myself first. That’s why I want to face Morrell and Benavidez back-to-back.”

JEISON ROSARIO

“I really had a big dream to win this belt and I don’t want to leave it. I will fight for this and I want to keep it. I want more. I feel I have something inside of me which I need to realise so I can be happy at the end of my career.

“What about this camp? I had it in three locations, I had a great camp everywhere. The last location was Abu Dhabi. I have been here since September 27^th. “Any fighter has to go through a very long road to get to the top. As a team, it has been part of our strategy to make sure that we look at the end goal, and we don’t look at every point along the way. It’s kind of having a vision of what is at the end.

“I appreciate that you guys have always been there for us. Basically, most of Dmitry’s career, Matchroom, Eddie Hearn, Frank Smith have been a big part of this and the entire team. The Last Chance Tournament kicked off on May 20 with eight combatants who were chosen based on having a top amateur trajectory, where fate had not been on the side of their once promising professional careers.  On August 4 was whittled to the two who battle for the title THIS FRIDAY November 4:

• Kendo Castañeda (19-5, 9 KOs) of San Antonio, Texas vs. 
• Antonio “Toño” Moran (28-5-1, 19 KOs) of Mexico City, Mexico

In the August 4 semi-finals, Kendo “Tremendous” Castaneda beat Joseph Fernandez in what Paulie Malignaggi called a Fight of the Year candidate; and Antonio Moran won by virtual shutout against Michael Dutchover.

In the May 20 quarters, former WBO Latino and WBA Fedecentro Welterweight Champion Moran beat Jeffrey Torres (10-2, 6 KOs) via unanimous decision, while “West Texas Warrior” Dutchover defeated Clarence Booth (21-5, 13 KOs) by split decision. In the other quarters, Castañeda scored a first-round knockout victory over Sonny Frederickson (21-6, 14 KOs), while Fernandez upset Zhiming Wang (11-4, 3 KOs) via unanimous decision.

LOS ANGELES, CA (November 2, 2022) – Thompson Boxing’s undefeated lightweight star, Ruben “Ace” Torres (19-0, 16 KOs), from South Central, Los Angeles, is back in action on November 26, 2022, when he steps in the ring with Eduardo Estela (13-1, 9 KOs), of Montevideo, Uruguay. Torres vs. Estela, a scheduled 8-round bout, will take place at ‘The War Grounds’, Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, CA. The main event will showcase Jose ‘Chon’ Zepeda (35-2, 27 KO’s) of LaPuente, CA vs. #2 ranked, former World Champion Regis ‘Rougarou’ Prograis (27-1, 23 KOs) of New Orleans, for the vacant WBC Super Lightweight world title.

“This is a big fight for me, and I plan to take full advantage of the opportunity,” said Torres. “I know Estela is hungry to make a name for himself so I’m well aware of the task at hand, I must dictate the action from the opening bell. Torres’ knockout of Cristian Baez (18-2, 17 KOs) in his last fight went viral, and he hopes to build on that momentum. Torres has knocked out 9 of his last 10 opponents.
