UFC FIGHT NIGHT JAPAN: HUNT vs NELSON *MEDIA QUOTES*

ufc_title-belt_206
Las Vegas, Nevada – Two of the biggest, baddest men on the planet will finally throwdown this Saturday, as Mark Hunt and Roy Nelson collide atop of perhaps the most stacked UFC FIGHT PASS card thus far.

Hunt vs Nelson leads the UFC FIGHT NIGHT: JAPAN card which also features the undefeated lightweight Myles Jury taking on the legendary “Fireball Kid” Takanori Gomi, former women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate taking on unbeaten newcomer Rin Nakai plus the return of both Yoshihiro “Sexyama” Akiyama and Ultimate Fighter winner Amir Sadollah in welterweight clash.

Fans around the world can catch the action live – and then on-demand – on UFCFIGHTPASS.com, the UFC’s digital streaming service.

MARK HUNT ON FIGHTING ROY NELSON: “I’m looking forward to fighting Roy. He’s one of the best fighters in the top 10, and this win will take me closer to a title shot. I’ve not really got a gameplan for him, other than to put a hurting on him. I’m going to put hurt on him until he can’t take no more, stops being competitive, and either blacks out or the referee tells him he can’t take no more. I can knock anyone out, that’s just the way it is. So that makes for a simple gameplan, mate. I’m going in big and I’m going to knock his head off.”

MARK HUNT ON FIGHTING IN JAPAN: “I was working in a factory in Australia when I first got the chance to fight in kickboxing in Japan. I was paid $40,000, which was more than I’d make in over six months in the factory. I was like “Wow! This Japan is a pretty nice place!” And I had some success in kickboxing and then MMA, and the paydays just kept going up. Fighting in Japan changed my whole life. I’ll never forget the opportunities I had here and what the fans gave me. There’s still things I want to achieve in MMA, winning the UFC title, and I will put on a great show for these fans on Saturday.”

ROY NELSON ON FIGHTING MARK HUNT: “I respect Mark a lot, he’s got huge power and a great chin, and next to a title fight, this is the most exciting fight there is for me. I know the fans have been calling for this one for a long time. I’m actually surprised we haven’t fought already, but it is happening now and I’m almost as excited as the fans are for this.”

NELSON ON HUNT’S ‘HOMETOWN ADVANTAGE’: “Yeah, Hunt has a lot of fans here in Japan and probably knows a few people and places where he can get good food, things like that, but I just fought Big Nog (Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira) in Abu Dhabi (April 11) and he literally had his own gym out there, he had a place to stay, and once the fight started none of that mattered. I still knocked him out.”

NELSON ON WHETHER HE NEEDS TO TAKE THIS TO THE GROUND: “Yeah, I can wrestle, I can use submissions, but if I am honest I’m only interested in having a war with Mark and knocking him out. I haven’t done that (go in with a submission-based game plan) in eight, nine years. I prefer to knock people out. Mark has power and a good chin, too, so why would I want to make this a technical fight? The two big guys are going to throw punches – and let’s see what happens. What’s more exciting than that?”

TAKANORI GOMI ON BECOMING A VETERAN: “I want to get into the top 10 again and show the fans I am still a top fighter. I never think about the age difference, I only think about how I match up with other fighters. I was a kid fighting people my age once, and now I am the older one and it is me who is fighting the younger athletes. It doesn’t matter, age, the only thing that matters is who is the better fighter on the night.”

GOMI ON WHAT KEEPS HIM FIGHTING: “I am not thinking about retirement, I am thinking about winning the UFC title. I coach the next generation of fighters in Japan, but right now I am a fighter not a coach. I still have the UFC title (in my sights) and this fight will get me into the top 10 and I will go forward from there.”

MYLES JURY ON FACING A LEGEND: “I was a huge Gomi fan when I was a kid in high school. He’s a legend and this is a great opportunity for me to defeat an icon of the sport. Some fighters have shown too much respect in this situation, they show too much respect when they are in the Octagon with a legend, but I’m going to treat him just like any other opponent. All the pressure is on him, he’s got a lot of weight on his shoulders fighting in front of fans who’ve supported him all these years. I can just go in there and do my thing.”

MIESHA TATE ON WHAT IS AT STAKE FOR HER: “This is the fight where I prove where I really belong in the division. I’m coming back with a vengeance. I’m coming back not just to win a fight, but to make a statement as to where I stand in the division. I want to leave a performance where fans are saying “Wow, she’s better than ever.” I’ve worked my ass off on improving my game and I can’t wait to show off what I’ve been working on. I’m going in there to finish Nakai, I won’t accept anything other than a crushing victory Saturday night.”

TATE ON NAKAI: “I’m fighting a Japanese star, she’s actually the queen of Japanese MMA, in Japan. So I know this is hostile territory. She’s not made too many mistakes in her career so far. She’s 15-0-1, and that’s hard to do no matter who you are fighting, but I think I have her on experience. I’ve fought in the other girl’s hometown before, I’ve faced better opposition, and I’ve won the world title fighting a pound-for-pounder while I had a busted knee. I’ve done all these things while (Nakai) was here in Japan having things her own way. I’m expecting a tough fight, she looks very strong and has a compact build, but I’ve been in deeper waters than she has.”

NAKAI ON HOMETOWN ADVANTAGE: “I take very seriously the (title) of being a pioneer for Japanese female MMA. I don’t want to lose in front of all the Japanese fans. I am the Queen of Pancrase and I want to defend that (title) in the UFC.”

NAKAI ON TATE’S ASSERTION SHE HASN’T FACED TOP OPPOSITION: “I don’t care about the critics, I care about winning fights. That is what I have been able to do this far. I think I can fight as well as Miesha Tate does, I think I am as good as her. And that is all that matters – the fight on Saturday. The critics aren’t part of the fight. I trained so hard to make this UFC fight happen, and I am excited for everyone who has heard only about my name or seen my videos now gets to see me fight. Of course, I want to be the Queen of the UFC (UFC champion) but I always focus on the fight in front of me, and that is Tate.”

O’Neil-Funch title bout highlights CES MMA XXVI

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Sept. 17th, 2014) — The stars are coming out for “CES MMA XXVI,” including the reigning heavyweight champ, the return of the “Rockstar,” and an intriguing title bout between two former UFC vets.

CES MMA heavyweight champion “Big” John Johnston returns for the first time since winning the belt in March and Chuck O’Neil locks horns with fellow Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) alum Ricardo Funch for the promotion’s vacant welterweight title on Friday, Oct. 14, 2014 at “CES MMA XXVI” from Twin River Casino in Lincoln, R.I.

The card also includes the return of “Rockstar” Luis Felix, who faces tough Philadelphia lightweight Gemiyale Adkins, a winner on CES’ last card in August.

Tickets for “CES MMA XXVI” are on sale now at $40.00, $55.00, $100.00 and $125.00 (VIP) and can be purchased online at www.cesboxing.com or www.twinriver.com or by phone at 401-724-2253/2254. All fights and fighters are subject to change.

After beating UFC vet Josh Hendricks to capture CES’ vacant heavyweight title seven months ago, Johnston (6-0, 6 KOs), a Malden, Mass., native, puts his unbeaten record on the line against Newport News, Va., vet Keith Bell (5-4-1, 3 KOs) in a non-title fight.

All six of Johnston’s wins have come by knockout, including the title bout against Hendricks in which Johnston bloodied the 37-year-old Ohio native with a flurry of punches until referee Dan Miragliotta stopped the fight. The 35-year-old Bell, nicknamed “Bad News,” has won three of fights in the past year and a half and appeared on the undercard of Bellator 109 in November.

For Felix (11-8, 4 KOs), the Providence native who was choked out by The Ultimate Fighter alum Julian Lane in August on national television, “CES MMA XXVI” is a shot at redemption, albeit against a tough opponent who took out one of his teammates that same night (also in a nationally televised bout).

With six losses in his last seven bouts entering August, Adkins (9-8, 3 KOs) pulled off one of the biggest upset wins of his career, defeating the previously unbeaten Nate Andrews by unanimous decision at “CES MMA XXV.” The 5-foot-10 slugger nicknamed “Baby Hercules” will make his fourth CES MMA appearance in October.

The Funch-O’Neil bout could steal the spotlight. A police officer in his hometown of Ludlow, Mass., Funch (8-4, 4 KOs) fought four times for the UFC before the promotion released him in 2012 following a loss to Dan Miller. He hasn’t fought since. Now he faces the scrappy O’Neil (13-6, 4 KOs), a Bridgewater, Mass., vet who appeared on Season 13 of TUF and has won four of his last fights under the guidance of CES MMA, in a five-round bout for the inaugural CES welterweight championship.

“CES MMA XXVI” also features the long-awaited return of fan favorites “The Hulk” Todd Chattelle, who hasn’t fought since breaking his hand in a loss to Shedrick Goodridge in January, and “The Asian Sensation” Andre Soukhamthath, also looking to avenge a loss to Kin Moy that same night.

Both Chattelle (12-10, 9 KOs) and Soukhamthath (7-2, 4 KOs) have been inactive for the past nine months, but for different reasons. With his hand fully healed, Chattelle, a Pawtucket, R.I., native will face veteran middleweight Nuri Shakir, of Andover, Mass., a 38-fight vet. Soukhamthath, originally from Woonsocket, R.I., and now living and training with the Blackzillians in West Palm Beach, Fla., faces Long Island, N.Y., bantamweight Tom English (5-4, 2 KOs).

Also included on “CES MMA XXVI” is Providence’s Greg Rebello (16-6, 9 KOs), who’s looking to avenge a loss in June in a cruiserweight bout against submission specialist J.A. Dudley (7-14) of Kearny, N.J., and unbeaten lightweight prospect Jimmy Davidson (7-0, 4 KOs) of Sandwich, Mass., matched up with the tough Leon Davis (5-2, 1 KO) of Springfield, Mass.

Middleweight Joe Cronin (2-1, 1 KO) of Mansfield, Mass., battles Terrell Clark (1-1, 1 KO) of nearby Worcester; unbeaten featherweight Kyle Bochniak (2-0, 1 KO) of Winthrop, Mass., faces fellow Massachusetts vet Ruslan Khubejashvili (2-1) of Norwood; and South Boston featherweight James Murrin (1-1, 1 KO) takes on North Providence’s Devin Pilkington (0-1).

Four additional bouts have been confirmed that will surely add excitement for all mixed martial arts fans in attendance.

Malaysian star Peter Davis returns to the ONE FC cage to take on Filipino Vaughn Donayre. Following her victory over Boxing world champion Ana Julaton, Ann Osman makes a quick turnaround to face the tough Aya Saeid Saber. Anatpong Bunrad and Marc Marcellinus look to wow the crowd in an intense Bantamweight battle. Bashir Ahmad also makes his return by locking horns with Thai opponent, Tanaphong Khunhankaew.

The event will be headlined by the return of “Ruthless” Rob Lisita, as he faces undefeated Russian Marat Gafurov in a featherweight battle which has been previously announced.

CEO of ONE Fighting Championship™ Victor Cui stated, “ONE FC: ROAR OF TIGERS is going to rock Stadium Putra once again with a stacked card filled with the best fighters in the world looking to be victorious inside the ONE FC cage. Our main event already promises an unforgettable evening of world-class mixed martial arts action, but these additional four bouts will bring unparalleled intensity and excitement!”

Peter Davis is a Wuji Chuan exponent and the face of mixed martial arts in Malaysia. Along with being the top lightweight in Malaysia, he is also a prominent celebrity with a long list of modeling and acting roles on his resume. Davis consistently finishes his opponents in impressive fashion and will be looking to use his tall and lanky frame accompanied by a significant reach advantage to propel him to victory against Donayre.

Vaughn Donayre is a Filipino mixed martial artist based in Dubai. The Cebu-native quit his mechanical engineering job to become a fighter. He has won seven of his last nine bouts and is highly regarded as an exciting mixed martial artist constantly in pursuit of the finish.

Ann Osman impressed in her conquest of Boxing world champion Ana Julaton, and is looking for a repeat performance. Osman is the first female Malaysian mixed martial artist to compete in a major mixed martial arts organization. She possesses wrestling skills and powerful ground and pound, making her a tough matchup for any opponent.

Egyptian MMA standout Aya Saeid Saber made her ONE FC debut a few months ago and surprised the crowd with her grit and tenacity. She showcased impressive stand-up and a robust ground game in her last fight, and will give Ann Osman all that she can handle.

Anatpong Bunrad is a dangerous Thai Bantamweight who currently trains in Belgium. He is a winner of three of his first four bouts as a professional, including two TKO victories and a win by submission. He is set to take on young striker, Marc Marcellinus of Malaysia.

Marc Marcellinus makes his return to the ONE FC cage after an intense debut. Marcellinus is a solid fighter with good all-around skills. He has a knack for striking and will go shot for shot with Bunrad in this upcoming bout.

Tanaphong Khunhankaew is a Thai Featherweight with loads of potential and the experience of eight fights under his belt. His natural propensity to strike will prove useful in a bout against one of the toughest fighters he will ever face in Bashir Ahmad.

Bashir Ahmad is widely known as the ‘Father of Pakistani MMA’. He is extremely quick and relentless with his striking and will look to overwhelm opponents from the beginning of the match. He is 1-1 inside the ONE FC cage and aims to score another impressive victory when he takes on Tanaphong Khunhankaew.

TULSA, OK (Sept. 16, 2014) – Submission ace Jesse “JT Money” Taylor (27-10) and red-hot finisher Joe Ray (11-3) have entered the highly-anticipated BattleGrounds MMA one-night, eight-man, welterweight (170 pounds) tournament that will award its winner a grand prize of $50,000, live on pay-per-view from BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla. on Friday, October 3.

Taylor and Ray will replace Dennis Hallman and Chris Honeycutt, respectively.

“We are thrilled to bring two more highly accomplished competitors like Jesse and Joe into the tournament fold, and are excited by the increased number of potential outcomes that their addition creates for this incredible, one-night event,” said BattleGrounds MMA President and Olympic wrestling gold medalist, Kenny Monday.

A veteran of a number of the world’s current and former top-tier fight promotions, including the UFC, Strikeforce, DREAM and World Series of Fighting, the 6-foot-1, 31-year-old Taylor honed his foundation in wrestling, becoming a two-time Junior College All-American and, later, a standout competitor for NCAA Division I Cal State Fullerton.

Between August 2012 and December 2013, Taylor ran to seven consecutive victories, defeating standouts Kendall “Da Spyder” Grove and Elvis Mutapcic along the way. Taylor also boasts finishes of superstars Denis Kang and Murilo Bustamante.

One of the hottest prospects in MMA, the 5-foot-11, 29-year-old Ray has earned all of his victories to date by (T)KO (7) and submission (4), and enters the BattleGrounds MMA cage on a six-fight winning streak that began nearly three years ago with a first round (1:48) TKO (punches) of Levi LaLonde. In his last start, Ray pulled off an impressive submission of Muay Thai champion Ole Laursen with a guillotine choke in the third round of battle.

Ray relocated from Sarasota, Fla. to Miami in 2007 and began his training in martial arts shortly after the move. In a relatively short time, he has built a powerful foundation in the striking art of Muay Thai, splitting his training camps between American Top Team in South Florida and Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Thailand. In addition to his stellar MMA record, Ray owns a 6-1 record in professional Muay Thai and kickboxing competition.

Taylor and Ray join a tournament field comprised of elite competition in submission wizard Cody “AK Kid” McKenzie (15-4) of Spokane, Wash.; two-time, one-night tournament winner Brock Larson (37-8) of Brainerd, Minn.; hard-hitting brawler Luigi “The Italian Tank” Fioravanti (24-11) of St. Louis, Mo.; Urijah Faber protégé David “Bulletproof” Mitchell (14-4) of Lower Lake, Calif.; Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu expert Roan “Jucao” Carneiro (16-9) of Atlanta, Ga.; and Trey “That Just Happened?” Houston (11-2) of Bixby, Okla.

BattleGrounds MMA ‘O.N.E.’ will be distributed at a price point of $19.95 in the United States and Canada by Integrated Sports Media for live viewing, beginning at 10 p.m. EST/7 p.m. PST on both cable and satellite pay-per-view carriers iN DEMAND, DirecTV, DISH and Avail-TVN in the United States and Bell TV and SHAW PPV in Canada. A pre-show will begin at 9 p.m. EST/6 p.m. PST.

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross and recently retired UFC superstar Chael Sonnen will call the action live from cageside.

Additional bouts for the telecast as well as a preliminary bout card will also be announced soon.

Tickets for the event, priced from $65, can be purchased online at www.bokcenter.com as well as at Arby’s Box Office at the BOK Center, all ticket outlets, or by calling 1-800-7-BOKCTR.

Vom Baur gained national attention last year after defeating Josh Rettinghouse for the CageSport Bantamweight Title. Josh Rettinghouse has since moved on to fight for the World Series of Fighting. Following a Unanimous Decision victory in May of this year, Vom Baur will face his toughest challenge yet in the explosive Henry, who has 5 of 7 victories by way of stoppage. Henry is coming off a huge victory in Japan over well respected Hideo Tokoro.

“We have an incredible fight card on our inaugural Super Fight League – America show,” said promoter, Brian Halquist. “Our current CageSport champion, Cory Vom Baur is facing Victor Henry, flying in from LA. This fight will be all out as both fighters have finished their opponents in a combined 10 out of 14 victories. These guys are two of the best up and coming bantamweights in the country. It will be explosive!”

In the semi-main event, Marion “The Bruiser” Reneau (4-1) looks to keep her 3-fight win streak alive against talented submission expert Colleen “The Thoroughbred” Schneider (5-4) in a 5-round battle inside the cage. Both California natives, Reneau and Schneider are known for their ability to finish their opponents, with all of their combined 9 wins coming by way of either knock out or submission.

“We’re thrilled to have our first women’s title fight. We have hosted many women fights on our shows and we will start developing our women’s rankings and women’s championship fights. We couldn’t have asked for a better fight to start out our title fight with. Both women have stopped every opponent they’ve defeated. This will be a toe to toe scrap that the Northwest MMA fans are sure to be entertained by. It truly is a very incredible fight,” Halquist Commented.

On October 4th, live at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington, fans will get a chance to see two fighters trained by the very best, as both Victor Henry and Colleen Schneider will have former UFC Heavyweight Champion Josh “The Warmaster” Barnett in their corner. With 40 professional fights against some of the toughest competition in the history of the sport, Barnett has amassed a stellar 33-7 record and is one of the most recognizable figures in Mixed Martial Arts today.
With two title fights, and a great supporting undercard, it’s guaranteed to be an explosive and exciting night. Both main event fighters are coming off victories earlier this year, and will be putting it all on the line to leave Tacoma with the first SFL-America Title belts around their waist.

“Plus we get to have Josh Barnett’s homecoming of sorts. He is one of the greatest fighters in MMA history and also a Washington State High School wrestling champ,” said Brian Halquist. “Josh will be in the corner of both title fights and we are really excited to bring Josh back home for our first SFL – America show!”

Super Fight League America tickets are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets, as well as the Emerald Queen Casino box office. Fans are encouraged to get theirs early, as this show promises to sell out the venue’s 1500 seat capacity. Tickets for this historic Mixed Martial Arts event start at only $35, and with the arrival of the Super Fight League brand here in the U.S.A. this is event is not to be missed.

ADRIANO MORAES CROWNED INAUGURAL ONE FC FLYWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPION IN MAIN EVENT OF ONE FC: RISE OF THE KINGDOM

12 September 2014 – Phnom Penh, Cambodia: Asia’s largest mixed martial arts organization with a 90% market share, ONE Fighting Championship™ (ONE FC), put on a dazzling display of world-class mixed martial arts action to the delight of a packed crowd at the Koh Pich Theatre in Phnom Penh, Cambodia for ONE FC: RISE OF THE KINGDOM. In the main event, Adriano Moraes captured the inaugural ONE FC Flyweight World Championship, defeating Geje Eustaquio by submission in round 2.

In an intense war for the ONE FC Flyweight World Championship, Adriano Moraes defeated Geje Eustaquio by submission in the second round after he pulled a Guillotine Choke. The first round was close as Moraes kept his distance from Eustaquio by circling out of range as the Filipino was controlling the action with his pinpoint strikes. In the second, Moraes pressed Eustaquio up against the cage and went for the Guillotine, pulling Eustaquio down to the mat and securing the hold with a body triangle. Eustaquio tried desperately to escape but the choke was in too deep and the Filipino was forced to tap out.

Caros Fodor overcame a very tough and game Vincent Latoel to win by submission in round 2 via Rear Naked Choke. Fodor ended the first round with an armlock attempt that saw Latoel writhing in pain. Latoel was saved by the bell. Much of the fight was spent grinding in a close wrestling scrap that saw both fighters have their moments but Fodor started to pull away in the second with some solid ground and pound. In the final moments of the second round, Fodor locked in the choke and Latoel had no choice but to tap out.

In the Cambodian Featherweight Grand Prix Final, Chan Rothana and Sam Ang Dun went to war for the brief moment the fight lasted. In the heat of battle, Rothana spun wildly for a spinning wheel kick and landed on Dun’s head. After a halt to the action that saw Dun unable to recover, Dun was awarded the victory by disqualification due to an illegal stomp to the head, winning the Cambodian Featherweight Grand Prix trophy.

In a highly electric battle between two game warriors, Arnaud Lepont viciously stopped Suasday Chau with a barrage of elbows and hammer strikes from top position, winning by TKO in the first round. Fans were on their feet as both fighters traded strikes wildly at the center of the cage. In the middle of the action, the fight was paused momentarily after Lepont went for a head stomp on a downed Chau. Chau was allowed a few minutes to recover, but could not get back into the fight competitively. When action resumed, Lepont immediately swarmed Chau who could not defend himself.

In a very entertaining scrap, evenly matched fighters Radeem Rahman and Sung Ming Yen battled in an intense war of strikes. After a few close exchanges, Rahman ended the first round with a Rear Naked Choke attempt as Sung was saved by the bell. The second round saw a much more focused striking effort on the part of Sung, who repeatedly got the better of the exchanges by staggering Rahman on multiple occasions. In the third round, Sung completely dominated Rahman with well placed combinations and multiple takedowns, earning the nod of the judges as he wins by Unanimous Decision.

Amir Khan and Jian Kai Chee put on an intense striking battle for fans in attendance. The two fighters wasted no time, viciously exchanging strikes at the center of the cage from the beginning of the fight. Khan staggered Chee with a knee to the face and followed up with a barrage of unanswered strikes. Chee was unable to defend himself as the referee stepped in to award Khan the victory in round 1.

In a dominant performance, Meas Meu impressively submitted bigger and taller opponent Chan Heng in the first round, winning by Rear Naked Choke. Meu landed an overhand right moments into the fight and shot for the takedown. He went to work on Heng with a series of elbows that opened up a cut on Heng’s face, turning the canvas into a bloody mess. Meu then transitioned to take Heng’s back and secured the submission.

Sam Ang Dun showcased his speed and tenacity, defeating Chin Heng by vicious knockout in the first round. Dun found himself on his back early on but was able to reverse position and wound up on top. Heng caught Dun’s arm in a deep armbar but Dun was able to yank his right arm out of trouble. Dun then threw two thunderous right hands to the head of his downed opponent. Heng was clearly defenseless and the referee stepped in to stop the fight.

In a battle of fierce Featherweights, Chan Rothana defeated Prak Chansin by TKO in the first round as he landed a series of unanswered strikes from full mount. After staggering Chansin with a head kick, Rothana shot for the takedown and ended up in dominant position where he unleashed a barrage of fists on his defenseless opponent.

In a catchweight bout, Vy Srey Chai and Tharoth Sam kicked things off with a fight on the ground. Tharoth was able to grind her way into full mount moments into the first round, quickly transitioning into a very deep armbar that saw Chai’s arm hyperextended. The referee stopped the fight and awarded Tharoth the submission victory.

Video: Fight Night Brasilia: Bigfoot vs. Arlovski Preview

UFC FIGHT NIGHT BRASILIA: BIGFOOT VS. ARLOVSKI *MEDIA QUOTES WITH FIGHTERS AND JOE ROGAN*

ufc_title-belt_206
Las Vegas, Nevada – Two of the biggest punchers in the heavyweight division collide at UFC® FIGHT NIGHT BRASILIA this Saturday, and fans around the world can catch the action live and on-demand on UFCFIGHTPASS.com, the UFC’s digital streaming service.

UFC No.4 ranked heavyweight and former title challenger Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva returns to action after his fight of the year performance vs Mark Hunt last December, getting the chance to fight in his native Brazil for the very first time as a professional. Standing in the way of a storybook return for the giant is former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski, who remains one of the most accomplished strikers in the division.

UFC color commentator Joe Rogan believes this rematch of a May 2010 Strikeforce fight (which you can watch now on UFC FIGHT PASS here) will be explosive.

Rogan said: “I can’t imagine this being anything other than the most insane, aggressive fight until it ends. Bigfoot Silva is one of the best heavyweights in the division. If you look at his stoppage victory over Alistair Overeem, it was one of the most devastating finishes we’ve seen in the history of the UFC. That’s what this man can do.

“In Andrei Arlovski, he’s facing a man who, at one time, was the most feared striker in the division. He was just storming through heavyweights, and if Andrei can get back to that form, if he can regain that level of performance, he can make a serious run in the UFC heavyweight division.”

Fight week flash quotes from Brazil.

BIGFOOT ON – FINALLY – FIGHTING IN BRAZIL
“I’m so excited, you must understand this is actually my first professional fight in Brazil. I fought once before in Brazil on a small show but that wasn’t as a professional, no-one know who I was, and this time I have the great support of the fans, my friends and family will be there – and it is actually my birthday this week (Sunday, September 14). So I am very excited for this fight, this is almost as big a fight for me as when I fight for the UFC heavyweight belt. Winning this fight means everything to me.”

BIGFOOT ON GOING ONE BETTER THIS TIME
“Last time we fought he underestimated me and I won on points, but this time he knows I am (world class) and can beat him. He will have prepared for what I do, but I am a much better fighter than I was four years ago. I fought for the title, I have beaten fighters like Overeem, Fedor and the others. I’m a different guy now.

“He’s an awesome striker, he hits very hard, and I know he’s going to try to knock me out. But he tried that last time, and other people have tried that, too, and he won’t be able to get that done. It won’t work. He needs a plan “B” because he won’t knock me out.

“I don’t want to win on a decision this time, not fighting in Brazil in the main event. The people who come to see me will have something to celebrate with me. I will knock him out or submit him. One round or last round, I will finish him. I’m going to knock him out. I will be looking to knock him out with every strike, that I promise.”

ARLOVSKI ON NEEDING TO IMPRESS
“I didn’t fight my best and I am not happy with my performance or the fight (vs Brendan Schaub at UFC 174). I was nervous, too anxious to impress after not fighting in the UFC for so long. Now, I want to remind everyone what I am about (vs Bigfoot) and I will have the chance to do that against (Bigfoot) because he comes to fight.

“I will perform much better this Saturday. It will be an attack, attack, attack fight from both of us. I have trained very hard, worked on many aspects of my game, and I promise my fans and everyone who watches this will be a great fight. The UFC has trusted me by putting me in the main event, and I will (reward that trust). The fans won’t be disappointed, I promise.”

ARLOVSKI ON FIGHTING IN BRAZIL
“Oh, the Brazil fans are going to boo and boo me! I know they will boo and chant things at me, I expect that. They can have a good time during the walk-outs and the introductions, booing me then, but I will shut them up in the first round. If there’s one guy cheering for me in the entire building, you will hear him loud, because Bigfoot’s fans will be quiet once the fight starts. They will have nothing to cheer about after the first round.”

ARLOVSKI ON GETTING REVENGE OVER BIGFOOT
“We fought four years ago and I lost by decision. I am excited to get the chance at the rematch. I will knock him out, and then I won’t hear about the first fight again. He says he will knock me out. He said that and good luck, because that won’t happen.”

ARLOVSKI ON WHAT HE CAN DO IN THE UFC
“I still feel young, I have energy and power. Now I am with Greg Jackson I still feel like I am improving as a fighter and that I can be a (factor) in the UFC heavyweight division. Bigfoot is ranked in the top five, and this is a huge chance for me to prove everything I am talking about. I need to get that knockout, I need that finish and I will go after it in the Octagon.”

UFC FIGHT PASS is available now at UFCFIGHTPASS.com on personal computers, iPad, iPhone, Chromecast, Android, Samsung, LG Smart TV and Roku. Subscriptions are $9.99 month to month, $8.99 per month for six months or $7.99 per month for a one-year subscription.

WSOF 14: Inaugural Heavyweight Championship Bout Added To Fight Card

LAS VEGAS (Sept. 10, 2014) — World Series of Fighting’s return to Canadian soil just became more of a must-see event as the organization is excited to announce the entire fight card for the live NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) televised event at the EXPO Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on Saturday, Oct. 11, including the inaugural World Series of Fighting heavyweight championship bout and co-main event between fast-rising stars Smealinho “The Prince” Rama (8-1) of Calgary, Alberta Canada and Derrick “Caveman” Mehmen (18-5) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

In the highly-anticipated main event, superstars Jake Shields (29-7-1) of San Francisco, Calif. and Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford (22-4) of Edmonton will square off in a welterweight (170 pounds) matchup.

Riding a two-fight winning streak, the 22-year-old Canadian Rama halted the unbeaten run of standout grappler Steve Mocco in his World Series of Fighting Canada debut in February. “The Prince” has earned seven finishes in eight victories thus far in his promising career, all of them inside the first round of action.

Representing American Top Team, Mehman has posted six consecutive victories to earn this championship opportunity, the last three coming inside the World Series of Fighting decagon. After scoring a memorable, second-round KO win over Rolles Gracie in his promotional debut, the 29-year-old reeled off back-to-back, unanimous decision wins over Scott Barrett and Dave Huckaba to secure his place opposite Rama in this historic heavyweight tilt.

Also joining the main card is a featherweight (145 pounds) matchup between Chris Horodecki (20-5-1) of London, Ontario, Canada and Luis Huete (6-1) of Calgary, Alberta, Canada as well as a light heavyweight (205 pounds) contest between Misha Cirkunov (7-2) Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Teddy Holder (8-1) of Memphis, Tenn.

A pro for nearly a decade, the 26-year-old Horodecki has won two of his last three starts and proudly carries the Team Tompkins name into battle against Huete, a winner of three straight, with all six of his career wins by having come by (T)KO or submission.

Cirkunov is an elite grappler and national judo and wrestling champion who has established himself as someone to watch in the light heavyweight division. Making his World Series of Fighting debut, Holder has scored seven first-round KO finishes in his eight career victories.

In preliminary card action, Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and hometown favorite Luke Harris (10-2) of Edmonton will be looking to add another submission win to his resume when he faces hard-hitting road warrior Jared Hamman (13-6) of Denver, Colo. at light heavyweight. Harris has won 10 of his last 11 fights, all remarkably by first-round submission.

The live NBCSN telecast of the four-fight World Series of Fighting 14: “U.S. vs. Canada” main card begins at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
Tickets for World Series of Fighting 14: “U.S. vs. Canada” start at just $49 and are on sale now at ticketmaster.com. The fight card is as follows:

Tune Talk has been actively promoting the growth of mixed martial arts in Malaysia together with ONE FC and with their partnership, we are set to bring another massive event to Kuala Lumpur with ONE FC: ROAR OF TIGERS!”

Marat Gafurov is undefeated after 8 fights, having emerged as the top featherweight in Europe. He possesses vicious ground and pound that has led him to six spectacular finishes so far. Prior to signing with ONE FC, he was the reigning M-1 Global Featherweight Champion. He joins an exciting Featherweight division that is currently ruled by Jadambaa Narantungalag. Gafurov will be looking to earn himself a title opportunity in the near future.

Rob Lisita is an Australian featherweight who has been on a tear in recent bouts. He has won seven of his last nine contests. Lisita is ruthless in going for the finish and has seen the final bell only three times in his 14 victories. One thing you cannot deny is that Rob Lisita always brings the action to the cage. He’s constantly looking to finish his opponent any chance he can get and fans can be sure of another stunning performance from the Australian.

Ev Ting is regarded as one of Malaysia’s top MMA fighters. Ting is of Malaysian Chinese ancestry but his family relocated to New Zealand when he was seven years old. It was an MMA highlight reel that he discovered on the internet that first sparked his interest in training in the sport, and he quickly found a home at Auckland MMA in 2009. After an undefeated stint as an amateur, Ting made his professional debut in 2011 and has since won seven of nine bouts. Ting made a successful ONE FC debut by knocking out Yohan Mulia Legowo in June and now gets the opportunity to compete in his country of birth for the first time.

Edward Kelly is one of the brightest prospects to come out of the Philippines, and boasts an impressive record of five wins and one loss in his fledging career. The brother of ONE FC featherweight #1 contender Eric Kelly, Edward possesses many similar traits as his brother, such as the relentless pursuit of the finish as well as being multi-faceted and able to emerge on top in every situation.

Raymond Tan is a founding member of Penang Top Team and is ranked as one of the best bantamweights in Malaysia. He initially began training in Taekwondo before he moved into mixed martial arts as he grew older. The lanky Tan boasts one of the longest reach in both his punches and kicks in the Bantamweight division and will leverage that advantage against Langdown.

Stephen Langdown returns to the ONE FC cage to take on Tan. Langdown is equally adept at both striking and grappling. He is a very solid, well-rounded fighter who is looking to catapult himself into the top of his division. The bout between Langdown and Tan features a clash of two of the top prospects in ONE FC and both mixed martial artists will be determined to prove themselves. WSOF 13: Cody Bollinger Replaces Josh Hill In Main Event Title Fight vs. Marlon Moraes

LAS VEGAS (Sept. 5, 2014) – With undefeated Canadian contender Josh Hill forced to withdraw from a planned title fight with reigning World Series of Fighting bantamweight (135 pounds) champion Marlon Moraes (13-4-1) of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. via Nova Friburgo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, submission ace Cody Bollinger (16-2) of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. has agreed to step up on short notice and face Moraes in the headlining bout of the World Series of Fighting 13 event at Sands Bethlehem Event Center in Bethlehem, Penn. on Saturday, Sept. 13, live on NBC Sports Network (NBCSN).

Moraes and Bollinger will meet in a 140-pound catchweight contest, and while World Series of Fighting officials initially expected the contest to be a non-title affair, Moraes is so confident in his chances, he’s promised to send Bollinger the bantamweight title belt should “The Cali Cowboy” prove victorious.

“I don’t know how we can make it official, but as far as I’m concerned, this is a title fight,” said a fired up Moraes. “Anytime I’m fighting, I’m fighting as a champion and I’m defending my belt. I don’t know how everybody else will see it but, to me, this is my next title fight and, if Cody wins, I’ll send him my belt. If I’m going to be a champion, I have to beat everybody I fight.”

“This is an amazing opportunity that came my way from a first-rate fight promotion, and I plan on making my fans proud,” said Bollinger. “I will be ready to go at it full force come fight time, shock the world and put an end to Marlon’s win streak.”

“World Series of Fighting 13: Moraes vs. Bollinger” takes place Saturday, Sept. 13, at Sands Bethlehem Event Center in Bethlehem, Penn. Tickets for the event, which include cageside seats for just $129, are currently on sale at Ticketmaster.com.

Doors to the venue open at 5 p.m. ET, with a full preliminary card getting underway at 6 p.m. ET. The live, NBCSN-broadcast main card kicks off at 9 p.m. ET.

“I thought Moraes vs. Hill was going to be an incredible championship fight, but this new pairing might better,” World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo said. “Marlon isn’t exactly Cody’s biggest fan, and Marlon guaranteed me he was going to knock Cody out. Meanwhile, Cody didn’t hesitate for one moment when he was given the opportunity to step in on just 10 days’ notice, proving what a warrior he really is at heart.

“Now with Marlon promising to put his belt on the line despite fighting at 140 pounds, I think this fight just got even more interesting.”

Brazilian striking specialist Moraes has staked his claim as one of the biggest superstars of World Series of Fighting, a process that started nearly two years ago when he upset former WEC champion Miguel Torres by split decision. He then registered additional wins against Tyson Nam, Brandon Hempleman and Carson Beebe before claiming the inaugural World Series of Fighting bantamweight title fight against Josh Rettinghouse earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Bollinger fought most recently in July, earning a first-round submission win over Pablo Alfonso. While the 23-year-old impressed with his performance, he struggled to make weight for the bantamweight matchup and was planning a move to 145 pounds. However, the opportunity to take on Moraes was too enticing to pass up, and Bollinger believes he’ll prove his worth by defeating World Series of Fighting’s bantamweight title holder.

World Series of Fighting matchmaker Ali Abdelaziz said didn’t expect the belt to be on the line for the contest but is happy to honor the wishes of his two athletes in what’s quickly shaping up to be an epic grudge match.

“Cody simply can’t make 135 pounds in a little more than a week, but he’s confident he can beat Marlon, and that’s why he took this fight,” Abdelaziz said. “And honestly, I think Marlon offering to put his title on the line anyway shows what an incredible champion he is. I’ve been telling everyone for a while now, I think Marlon Moraes is the best bantamweight fighter in the world. I think he can beat anybody in the world at 135 pounds – anybody. Now he’s proving that he has the true heart of a champion, as well, willingly moving up in weight for this challenge and promising to put his belt on the line, anyway. It’s incredible.”

CES vet Matsuda makes UFC debut Friday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Sept. 4th, 2014) — CES MMA just paved the way for another UFC-bound fighter from the northeast.

Tateki Matsuda, the Japanese-born bantamweight who now lives and trains in Boston, will make his Ultimate Fighting Championships debut in place of the injured Dustin Kimura Friday, Sept. 5th at UFC Fight Night 50 live on Fox Sports 1 at Foxwoods Resort Casino.

The 28-year-old Matsuda (10-5, 4 KOs) will face 9-0 Chris Beal. Matsuda recently defeated Robbie Leroux by submission on CES MMA’s network television debut on AXS TV in August. Long considered one of the top bantamweights in the region, Matsuda had lost his previous two bouts and had fallen off the radar in the northeast until he beat Matt Doherty at CES MMA XXIII in April, joining John “Doomsday” Howard and Rob Font on the list of fighters who punched their ticket to the UFC through the promotional guidance of CES.

“I would sincerely like to thank CES MMA, New England’s premier MMA organization,” Matsuda said. “Since I started working with CES, they’ve kept me busy and took care of me very well.

“I’m not a ‘cost-effective’ fighter because I have no family and friends locally, so I don’t sell tickets as much as other fighters. However, CES brought me fights and promoted me the same as other local fighters. CES produces so many tough fighters. It’s a gateway to the next level. I’m glad to be one of them.”

Matsuda competed on Season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter reality television series in 2011, but was eliminated in the preliminary round. He also fought for CES MMA in 2010, defeating Jason Bennett by unanimous decision. His opponent Sept. 5th, the undefeated Beal, is also a TUF alum (Season 18) who won his UFC debut in April.

“I couldn’t be happier for Tateki,” said Matsuda’s manager, Tyson Chartier, of Sityodtong in Boston. “He’s easily one of the hardest-working fighters that I manage. He’s a great teammate, fighter, and, more importantly, an amazing person.

“When I began managing Tateki I asked him what his goal was and he said, ‘To fight in the UFC.’ We sat down with [head trainer Mark DellaGrotte] and put together a plan of how to get him there. A big part of that plan was to leverage the marketing machine that is CES. We felt that was the best platform to help Tateki accomplish his goal. Fast forward a few months and he’s coming off two impressive wins with them, his last being live on AXS TV a few weeks back. He’s on a roll right now and in a good place mentally, so when the call came to step in on nine days’ notice to make his UFC debut, we didn’t hesitate to say yes.”

Visit www.cesmma.com for more information, follow CES MMA on Twitter at @CESMMA and Instagram at CESMMA, or “like” CES MMA on Facebook.

UFC partners and affiliates such as FOX Deportes, Metro PCS, Comcast, COX and Anheuser-Busch will also take part in the celebration. In addition, the UFC will team up with the MLS’ Houston Dynamo as well as the Chicago White Sox of Major League Baseball, for exciting fan events at upcoming sporting events. Along with the announcement of the UFC selling out UFC 180 in Mexico City on Nov. 15 and the breakthrough success of the first season of The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America, Hispanic Heritage Month will be the perfect celebration of diversity in the UFC and will showcase amazing Hispanic athletes proudly representing their culture.

UFC fans in Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Miami, New York and Washington, D.C. will have the opportunity to be a part of the “Despierta tu Instinto Guerrero” festivities from Sept. 13 through Oct. 13, 2014. We are proud of our Hispanic athletes as they represent their heritage each time they step into the Octagon and we want to share their amazing talents and stories with UFC fans.”

The UFC kicked off the tour at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. on Sunday, Aug. 31 at the Chivas USA vs. L.A. Galaxy pre-game event, the Chiva Town fan zone. Fans had the opportunity to meet featherweight fighter Ricardo Lamas, who will compete in the sold out, first ever event in Mexico City, UFC 180, as well as Octagon Girl™ Arianny Celeste.

From Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, Americans celebrate and recognize the contributions made and the important presence of Hispanics to the United States. Celebrations of the group’s heritage and culture begin on Sept. 15, the anniversary of independence for five Latin American countries — Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico declared its independence on Sept. 16 and Chile on Sept. 18.

SHINYA AOKI REMAINS ONE FC LIGHTWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPION AT ONE FC: REIGN OF CHAMPIONS

29 August 2014 – Dubai: ONE Fighting Championship™ (ONE FC), Asia’s largest Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) organization with a 90% market share, held its most successful event at the Dubai World Trade Centre this evening as three ONE FC World Championships were on the line at ONE FC: REIGN OF CHAMPIONS. Shinya Aoki retained his ONE FC Lightweight World Championship while Ben Askren and Narantungalag Jamdambaa emerged as new world champions in the welterweight and featherweight divisions respectively.

Shinya Aoki showcased his legendary grappling skills in the first defense of his ONE FC Lightweight World Championship against Kamal Shalorus, impressively submitting his opponent to retain the title. Aoki’s suffocating positional control allowed him to wear on Shalorus before taking the wrestler’s back and tightening a rear naked choke, causing Shalorus to tap out.

Ben Askren gave Nobutatsu Suzuki absolutely no quarter, taking less than two minutes to finish his opponent and dethrone him as ONE FC Welterweight World Champion. Askren used his unparalleled wrestling to take Suzuki down right from the opening bell. He blitzed Suzuki with a barrage of unanswered punches causing the referee to stop the fight and award Askren the TKO victory and the title.

Narantungalag Jadambaa’s superior striking skills proved to be the difference in the ONE FC Featherweight World Championship bout against Koji Oishi. Both Oishi and Jadambaa began the bout tentatively until the Mongolian landed an impressive slam in the first round. A striking combination by Jadambaa dropped Oishi in the second round but Oishi hung on despite a relentless barrage of strikes. Both Oishi and Jadambaa landed powerful punches in the third round, as they battled on to the delight of the sold out crowd. Jadambaa was the more offensive striker in the fourth round, landing several punches and kicks. He then landed with even more precision in the fifth round and was deemed the winner by all three judges.

Roger Huerta returned to the ONE FC cage in emphatic fashion by knocking out Christian Holley in the first round. Holley threw a head kick that landed but Huerta caught the leg and took Holley down. After a brief grappling exchange, Huerta landed in side control and unleashed several knees. Huerta then transitioned to his opponent’s back, unloading a barrage of punches which resulted in a stoppage victory.

James McSweeney proved once again why he is one of the deadliest strikers in the world by clinically knocking out Cristiano Kaminishi. McSweeney landed a straight punch that had Kaminishi reeling. As Kaminishi stumbled backwards, McSweeney followed up and landed a devastating kick to the head. McSweeney demonstrated sportsmanship in holding back another kick as referee Oliver Coste jumped in to stop the bout.

The grappling prowess of Herbert Burns proved to be too much for Hiroshige Tanaka to handle, allowing the Brazilian black belt to clinch a unanimous decision victory. Burns quickly asserted himself in the first round with kicks and takedowns from the clinch. Burns came close to finishing Tanaka with a rear naked choke but Tanaka managed to stave off the attempt and get back to his feet. He managed to take Tanaka down again in the second round, and landed a crushing knee while Tanaka was trying to stand back up. Tanaka landed a flurry of punches while Burns was pinned up against the cage in the third round, but Burns quickly recovered and took Tanaka down. Burns landed several knees in the closing seconds to end the bout, picking up the decision victory.

Mohamad Walid and Vaughn Donayre put on a fast-paced bout that ended with Walid securing the submission. Both mixed martial artists kicked off the action by swinging wildly with hard punches. Walid then jumped guard as Donayre decided not to engage. Once the fight restarted on the feet, Walid quickly shot for the takedown, and from full mount position along the cage locked in a quick armbar that forced Donayre to tap out.

The bout between striking specialist Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke and Ali Yaakub began with an exchange of devastating leg kicks and hard punches before Amnuaysirichoke elected to demonstrate his newfound grappling skills. Amnuaysirichoke quickly took Yaakub down and secured a rear naked choke submission to end the bout slightly over two minutes into the first round.

Female mixed martial arts stars Ana Julaton and Ann Osman kicked off the show in spectacular fashion. Osman dominated the first round with her superior wrestling skills and had Julaton in an armbar submission attempt as time expired. Osman again came close to finishing with an armbar attempt in the second round, but Julaton fought out of it to get top position, raining down punches of her own. Julaton started the third round by stringing together an impressive boxing combination, but Osman managed to close the distance and take Julaton down once again. Julaton managed to reverse the position and landed several knees from guard. Both mixed martial artists had their respective flags draped over their shoulders as Ann Osman was declared the winner via split decision.

Fight Network Presents ONE FC 19: Reign of Champions LIVE Friday, Aug. 29, from Dubai

Toronto – Fight Network, the world’s premier 24/7 television channel dedicated to complete coverage of combat sports, presents a live broadcast of ONE Fighting Championship 19: Reign of Champions featuring a trio of highly anticipated championship clashes this Friday, August 29, at 10 a.m. ET.

Fight Network’s live broadcast will air exclusively in Canada and Turkey.

Emanating from Dubai’s World Trade Centre, ONE FC 19: Reign of Champions is set to be the biggest combat sports event to ever be held in the Middle East.

In the featured title bout, ONE FC lightweight champion Shinya Aoki will make the first defense of his belt since winning it in April 2013, as he takes on UFC veteran Kamal Shalorus of Iran.

Plus, ONE FC welterweight champion Nobutatsu Suzuki will meet undefeated wrestling superstar and former Bellator champion Ben Askren.

In the third championship tilt, ONE FC featherweight champion Koji Oishi meets Mongolian striking expert Jadamba Narantungalag. Oishi was originally scheduled to face Eric Kelly, but he wasn’t medically cleared to accept the bout after his most recent win. Meanwhile, Oishi is fresh off a victory over former ONE FC titleholder Honorio Banario last May.

Mixed martial arts superstar Roger Huerta will also return to action to take on the undefeated Christian Holley, plus former WBO and IBA female boxing champion Ana Julaton will take on Malaysian prospect Ann Osman.

In other featured bouts, top featherweights Herbert Burns and Hiroshige Tanaka will throw down, while James McSweeney will drop a division to light heavyweight to take on Cristiano Kaminishi.

“After wowing sold out audiences across Asia, Asia’s largest mixed martial arts organization will enter the Middle East for the first time on August 29th,” said Victor Cui, CEO of ONE Fighting Championship. “Dubai will be treated to a night of adrenaline-pumping mixed martial arts action from world-class mixed martial artists. Nobutatsu Suzuki, Koji Oishi and Shinya Aoki are three of the greatest mixed martial artists in the world today and they will put their ONE FC World Championship titles on the line! Ben Askren is the greatest wrestler to compete in mixed martial arts and his clash with Suzuki is one of the most anticipated bouts in the history of the welterweight division. This is going to be the biggest night in the history of combat sports and you do not want to miss it!”

Nobutatsu Suzuki is a striker who has demonstrated the effectiveness of karate in mixed martial arts. He became the first ONE FC welterweight champion by defeating Brock Larson at ONE FC: War of Nations earlier this year. Ten of his 11 wins have been knockouts and he will look to add Ben Askren to the list of opponents he has finished when they clash on Aug. 29.

Ben Askren is a legend in collegiate wrestling with four All-American awards. He finished his wrestling career at the University of Missouri with a record of 153-8. He has won 91 of those bouts with pins, one of the most in NCAA Division I history. He also wrestled on the US Olympics team in 2008 before transitioning to mixed martial arts. Since his mixed martial arts debut in 2009, he has won 13 bouts consecutively in dominating fashion, winning multiple championships and earning recognition as one of the best welterweights in the world.

Shinya Aoki is known as one of the most dangerous submission artists in mixed martial arts today. A former DREAM lightweight champion, he earned his most prestigious title with a quick submission victory over then ONE FC lightweight champion, Kotetsu Boku, at ONE FC: Kings & Champions last year. He is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt under the legendary Yuki Nakai, and boasts 23 wins via submission.

Kamal ‘Prince Of Persia’ Shalorus is a former national wrestler who transitioned to mixed martial arts after mixed martial artists began to seek him out for his wrestling expertise. Despite beginning his career as a wrestler, Shalorus has four knockout victories which showcase the power he possesses. He has won both his bouts impressively since debuting in Asia’s largest mixed martial arts organization, and has earned the biggest opportunity in his life as he takes on grappling legend Aoki.

ONE FC featherweight champion Koji Oishi is a veteran of over 40 fights and a former Lightweight King of Pancrase. He is a seasoned veteran who has been consistently facing the best opposition in the world. At ONE FC: Rise to Power, his lifelong dream of becoming a world champion came true when he captured the ONE FC featherweight championship by knocking out Honorio Banario. Oishi has fought almost 100 rounds in his career and faced over 36 opponents, making him one of the most experienced featherweights in the world.

Jadamba Narantungalag is the top mixed martial artist to emerge from Mongolia. He boasts an impressive record of nine wins and three losses against top competition in Asia. He also has kickboxing experience, facing the likes of renowned kickboxing champions Buakaw Banchamek and Masato. Narantungalag made an impressive ONE FC debut by defeating former ONE FC featherweight champion Honorio Banario at ONE FC: Honor & Glory. He now gets the biggest opportunity in his career when he takes on current ONE FC featherweight champion Koji Oishi.

Roger Huerta is a renowned mixed martial arts superstar and one of the most recognizable faces in the sport. He began his career impressively by winning 20 of his first 23 bouts, before moving on to star in several movies. Huerta is determined to return to mixed martial arts action with a bang, but will face a stern test in the undefeated up-and-comer, Christian Holley.

Christian Holley is an undefeated mixed martial artist. Originally from England, he spent most of his life in Spain having moved there when he was five years old. He has finished eight of the 10 opponents he has faced thus far, all in impressive fashion. Having reached the pinnacle of the sport in Europe, Holley has set his sights on conquering the lightweight division in ONE FC and he gets the opportunity when he faces the biggest test of his career so far in Roger Huerta.

Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton is the first Filipina boxer to win the women’s WBO super bantamweight and IBA super bantamweight championships. Julaton’s signing with ONE FC marks her first step to becoming a two-sport athlete. Her overpowering attacks in the ring earned her the nickname “The Hurricane” and made her a fan favorite in the Philippines. It took her only seven professional bouts to win a championship in boxing and she hopes her mixed martial arts career will be equally successful. She made a successful ONE FC debut by defeating Aya Saber and will return to the ONE FC cage looking for the second win in her mixed martial arts career.

Ann Osman is the first female Malaysian mixed martial artist to compete in a major mixed martial arts organization. Osman possesses wrestling skills and powerful ground and pound, making her a tough test for any opponent. She made her debut in an empathic battle last October, and has been eagerly awaiting an opportunity to get back into the ONE FC cage.

James McSweeney is a top English mixed martial artist and kickboxer who have competed against some of the best mixed martial artists in the world, racking up numerous titles in the process. He is currently on the best streak of his career, with nine wins in his last 12 fights. McSweeney is a proven finisher and have gone to a decision only once in 24 fights.

Cristiano Kaminishi has gone 8-1 while competing predominantly in Japan and will be making his debut for Asia’s largest mixed martial arts organization on 29 August. Kaminishi is a former Heat heavyweight champion and has also won multiple Brazilian jiu-jitsu titles across multiple weight divisions. Originally from Brazil, he made the move to Japan at the age of 17. Kaminishi is a BJJ black belt under Taka Watanabe of Axis Jiu-Jitsu, one of the pioneering academies in Japan. Kaminishi has spent years training with some of the best fighters in the world, including Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, and has also cornered luminaries such as Nogueira, Paulo Filho and Mario Sperry.

Herbert Burns is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt who represents Evolve MMA in Singapore. Originally from Brazil, he made a successful ONE FC debut by submitting Edward Kelly last December, and followed that up with a unanimous decision victory over former Harris Sarmiento earlier this year. An impressive victory over Tanaka will extend his undefeated record to four and push him to the forefront of potential contenders for the ONE FC featherweight title.

Hiroshige Tanaka is one of the best featherweights from Japan. He is riding a seven-fight winning streak and has defeated some of the top featherweights in the region. Tanaka is a deadly striker who possesses knockout power in both hands. Tanaka will make his ONE FC debut against one of the best grapplers in the division and it will be interesting to see how this classic matchup between striker and grappler plays out.

The full fight card for ONE FC 19: Reign of Champions includes:
