Badou Jack Debuts in Dubai

DUBAI, UAE (November 11, 2021) – Two Division Boxing World Champion and Global Philanthropist, Badou Jack (24-3-3, 14 KOs), will be back in action against an opponent TBA on November 26th in Dubai, in a co-promotion between his Badou Jack Promotions and the newly launched promotion, Probellum.

Jack’s bout will be his first in the Middle East featured on D4G’s event as the Co-Main event in his 2nd fight at Cruiserweight. This will be the 3rd division in which Jack aims to capture a title in. In his first fight at Cruiserweight, a catch weight bout as the co-main event of the Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones card featured on Triller, Jack cruised to a one sided decision against then unbeaten Blake McKernan.

“It feels great to finally be able to fight in Dubai in front of all my fans here and I’m excited to have Badou Jack Promotions launch another event in the UAE.” Jack stated with enthusiasm. “We are planning for this to be the first of many more in the region.”

Jack has relocated his team to Dubai after receiving an honorary “Golden Visa” and has held the entire training camp there since early October.

“One of the many benefits of fighting under your own banner is having a cushioned budget for training camp. Badou has positioned himself strategically for a camp fee, fight fee and a promotional fee.” Badou Jack Promotions CEO Amer Abdallah added. “Special thanks to all of our partners here including Five Palm Jumeirah Hotel, NAS Sports Complex, ITP Media, Round 10 & the Kamani Club, who rolled out the red carpet for the champ.”

?“This is the 2nd event Badou Jack Promotions is promoting here in Dubai and I’m very excited to be a part of the growth of boxing in the Middle East,” concluded Jack, who will wear both a promoter and fighter hat for his first time ever on November 26th. “We have some exciting news coming soon with more events in this region.”

DAVID BENAVÍDEZ VS. KYRONE DAVIS FINAL PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

PHOENIX – November 11, 2021 – Unbeaten two-time world champion David “El Bandera Roja” Benavídez and super middleweight contender Kyrone Davis went face-to-face Thursday at the final press conference before they meet in the main event this Saturday, November 13 live on SHOWTIME in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Footprint Center in Phoenix.

Also featured at Thursday’s press conference was David’s older brother and longtime contender José Benavídez, along with Argentina’s Francisco Emanuel Torres, before they meet in the 10-round co-main event on the telecast beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

The Benavídez brothers have their sights set on impressing their hometown fans in long-awaited homecoming bouts Saturday night, which will mark their first time entering the ring in Phoenix since 2015.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by Sampson Boxing and TGB Promotions, are on sale now and are available for purchase through Ticketmaster.com.

Here is what the fighters had to say Thursday from the Footprint Center:

DAVID BENAVÍDEZ

“I’ve had a tremendous training camp this time around. Hats off to Kyrone Davis for stepping up to the plate and taking this fight. I’m on a knockout streak and I’m keeping it going Saturday night. The fans want to see knockouts and that’s what I want to give them.

“I’m excited to have fans back in attendance, after my last couple of fights took place in the bubble. The energy is going to be crazy. I can’t wait to get in there.

“We went right back into training camp after Davis stepped in as the replacement. I’m just happy the date was still salvaged. I’ve trained with multiple sparring partners in the gym, so I’m used to adapting to different styles. We’ll adapt to what he brings on Saturday.

“I’ve had a lot of support from the people here and it’s been amazing. Last time I was here, it was on my brother’s undercard. I’m ecstatic to be back fighting in front of a crowd. I can’t wait to feel the energy from the people.

“Once opponents feel my pressure, they realize it’s a whole different type of power. I want to see how he’s going to react to the power, combinations and speed. I’m going to keep doing what I do best and have fun.

“I’m not thinking about Canelo. I’m just thinking about Kyrone Davis. I’m excited to give my fans a good show. I worked extremely hard for this fight and trained like it was for a world title. I’m ready for whoever they want to give me to fight next.

“I’m always going to try to knock my opponent out. Not just Kyrone, but everyone who comes after him. I’m a warrior and I’m going to give the fans a war. It’s going to be a great night for me and my brother.

“My brother is still my role model. I still look up to him a lot. When we’re sparring, we try to take each other’s heads off and we might go days without talking, because it gets so serious. But he’s providing motivation for me every day. Especially the way that he came back from his injury.

“Kyrone Davis is a live dog. He knows what he’s up against. I’ve had a tremendous training camp and I’m going to make this a fun fight. We’re not scared of each other, and that makes it a great fight.

“It means the world to our whole family to be here in this position. I spent most of my childhood at Central Boxing Gym. The first mural out there was of my brother and I said that I wanted to be up there next. It’s really motivating knowing that Phoenix has our backs.”

KYRONE DAVIS

“Sometimes with stepping-stones, you trip. We’ve seen it happen plenty of times. My job is to make sure Saturday night isn’t his night. I’m looking to have a good time and put my all into it.

“I’ve been doing this my whole life. Stepping up on two weeks’ notice is nothing for me. A guy trying to cheat is disrespectful to the sport. It’s my duty to the sport to step in

“This is going to be a world class fight. I’m coming to fight and I’m coming to win.

“I showed that I can fight on this level against Anthony Dirrell. That performance put me in position to get this fight. I’m looking to put on a show. We’re going to have a good time.

“All good things must come to an end. His knockout streak is cool, but who you fight matters. I’m nicknamed ‘Shut It Down’, not lay down. He’s supposed to want to put on a great show, but I’m looking to do what I have to do to win.

“I’m always ready. When they call me and tell me it’s time to fight, I’m ready to go. I’ve had some experience taking fights on short notice. Every time we go through something, we take it and apply it to everything we do going forward.

“To see my name in the big lights, is a gratifying feeling. But it’s not just great to be here, I want to show what I can do at this level.

“I’m a smart fighter and my style changes depending on my opponent. We have a game plan and I’m going to follow it.

“I’ve never lost over 160 pounds. All of my losses were from shrinking down to 154 pounds. I’m feeling great at this weight and I’m ready for any way that this fight goes. I’m mentally and physically prepared.

“I can guarantee a great fight and that I’m going to win.”

JOSÉ BENAVÍDEZ

“I’ve had a great training camp. I’ve been out for a few years, but I never stopped loving boxing. If anything, I love it more. I’m coming with bombs Saturday. I’m hungry and I’m ready to eat.

“I learned a lot from my last fight. I feel like I’m a different animal now. When I say I’m going to do something, I do it. He better not run on Saturday. I’m coming to break his ribs with body shots.

“I don’t care how busy he’s been. He’s never seen anyone with power like mine. You better be ready for Saturday night.

“He’s a bum just like the bums that he’s fought. I’m back to take this clown out and show everyone that I’m going to be the next 154-pound world champion.

“I’ve always loved boxing. Ever since I was young. Now having my own children, I’m even more motivated than ever. I’m so grateful to my whole family for all their support throughout these long training camps. I’m happy where I’m at.

“We’ve had a long road and I’m just thankful to everyone who’s supported us. It’s been six years since we fought at home, but I love it here. We’ve worked hard at this since we were little kids. We’ve come so far and I’m just trying to keep learning new things every day.

“My brother and I push each other to be on top. We’re the best sparring partners either of us could ask for. We don’t believe in a rivalry, we just want to push each other to be the best that we can.”

FRANCISCO EMANUEL TORRES

“I’m thankful for this opportunity and I’m looking forward to Saturday night. This is the biggest fight of my life. I can’t let it pass me by. This is the kind of stage I dreamed of ever since I was a little kid. I’m going to make the most of it.

“You can say whatever you want up here on a stage. Maybe his prediction of a knockout will be true, but he still has to go in the ring and face me. We’ll all find out Saturday night.

“I prepared really hard for this fight and I’m ready to counter anything he can throw my way. You can bet on that.

“I don’t care that Jose is fighting in front of his fans. I’ve been an underdog before and I’m comfortable in that role.

“I don’t care about what he says. I’m just focused on doing what I have to do.”

New Jersey’s Rising Welterweight Prospect Vito Mielnicki Jr. Takes on Rhode Island’s Nicholas DeLomba Saturday, December 25 in Christmas Day Homecoming Fight Headlining FOX PBC Fight Night and on FOX Deportes from Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey

NEWARK, N.J. (November 11, 2021) – Welterweight prospect and New Jersey-native Vito Mielnicki Jr. will battle Nicholas DeLomba in a 10-round matchup on Saturday, December 25 headlining FOX PBC Fight Night action and on FOX Deportes on Christmas Day from Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

The broadcast will begin at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and feature sensational unbeaten prospect Joey Spencer taking on Mexico’s Limberth Ponce for eight-rounds of middleweight action in the co-main event.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions, are on sale now and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.com.

“Vito Mielnicki Jr. has cultivated a growing and devoted fan base in his native New Jersey and he’ll look to give them all a Christmas Day gift with an electric performance against Nicholas DeLomba in his first headlining appearance on FOX,” said Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions. “Prudential Center will be hosting two of boxing’s brightest young up-and-comers, as Joey Spencer steps in for the co-main event against Limberth Ponce, making this a great night for boxing’s future stars to showcase their skills.”

Representing Roseland, New Jersey, Mielnicki (9-1, 6 KOs) makes his second straight appearance at Prudential Center, as he bounced back from his first career defeat to stop Noah Kidd in Newark in July on FOX. The 19-year-old began turning heads during an exceptional amateur career where he compiled a 147-22 record and was named the Most Outstanding Boxer of the 2011 Junior National Golden Gloves, amongst many accolades before turning pro. Mielnicki was able to add four victories to his ledger in 2020 and he kicked off his 2021 campaign with a knockout of Noe Lopez in February on FOX.

“I want to thank my whole team for giving me this great opportunity to headline Christmas Night at the Prudential Center live on FOX,” said Mielnicki. “I’m excited to showcase my talent as the main event in front of my family, friends and fans in my home state of New Jersey. This is my toughest opponent to date. I expect the best version of Delomba on fight night. Everyone get your tickets and tune in because you don’t want to miss this one. Expect fireworks on Christmas Night!”

DeLomba (16-3, 5 KOs) put together a five-fight winning streak heading into his most recent bout, which saw him drop a decision to super lightweight contender Richardson Hitchins in February 2020. The 31-year-old has fought professionally since 2013, turning pro after losing to Robert Easter Jr. in the 2012 U.S. National Championship quarterfinals. Fighting out of Cranston, Rhode Island, DeLomba won 11 of his first 12 pro fights before a 2017 decision defeat to Jimmy Williams.

“Vito is a good, young fighter and I’m impressed with what he’s done so far, but I have experience on my side,” said DeLomba. “I’ve faced some of the best fighters in the world, and I’ve never backed down from a challenge. This is a great spotlight for me to show what I’m all about. Make no mistake, I’m coming to win.”

The 21-year-old Spencer (12-0, 9 KOs) turned pro in February 2017 and immediately caught the eye of fans and pundits with his combination of speed, power and athleticism. Following an impressive 2020 campaign, the Linden, Michigan native opened 2021 with a first-round TKO over Isiah Seldon in January on FOX. Spencer continued his march toward world title contention with a wide unanimous decision triumph over James Martin in July.

“I’m very excited to give the fans in New Jersey a great show on Christmas Day,” said Spencer. “I’ve been preparing well and am excited to show what I can do against a durable opponent like Ponce. I can’t wait to be back in the ring on FOX to continue displaying everything I’ve been working on.”

Born in Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico, Ponce (18-4, 11 KOs) fights out of Rock Island, Illinois throughout his pro career that dates back to 2012. The 30-year-old followed up a 2016 defeat to Neeco Macias with seven-straight wins before a 2019 split-decision loss to Thomas Hill. Ponce returned to the ring in June of this year to stop Chris Grays in three rounds.

“I know this will be a tough fight, but I’m going to be prepared for whatever my opponent brings on fight night,” said Ponce. “On December 25, I’m leaving everything in the ring. I want to give the fans a great fight and make my mark with this performance.”

Unbeaten WBA Super Middleweight Champion David Morrell Jr. Battles 168-Pound Contender Alantez Fox in FOX PBC Fight Night Main Event & on FOX Deportes Saturday, December 18 from The Armory in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (November 11, 2021) – Cuban sensation and unbeaten WBA Super Middleweight Champion David Morrell Jr. will defend his title in his adopted hometown when he faces 168-pound contender Alantez Fox on Saturday, December 18 in the FOX PBC Fight Night main event and on FOX Deportes live from The Armory in Minneapolis.

The broadcast begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and features exciting rising unbeaten prospect Jose Valenzuela taking on lightweight contender Austin Dulay in the 10-round co-main event.

Tickets for the event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions and Warriors Boxing, go on sale Tuesday, November 16 and can be purchased through The Armory at http://ArmoryMN.com/ and through Ticketmaster.

“David Morrell Jr. is quickly becoming a fan-favorite at The Armory in his new hometown of Minneapolis, and he’ll look to continue his rise up the super middleweight division taking on the always tough Alantez Fox on December 18,” said Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions. “The Armory was rocking for David in June and he delivered a memorable first-round knockout for everyone watching. I expect another incredible atmosphere for this whole card, which also features the exciting lightweight prospect Jose Valenzuela in his toughest test yet against Austin Dulay. This is a night you won’t want to miss live on FOX or in Minneapolis.”

Now based in and training out of Minneapolis, Morrell (5-0, 4 KOs) has shown off the prodigious talents that made him a standout in Cuba’s iconic amateur scene since arriving stateside in 2019. Before being recently elevated, the 23-year-old captured an interim title by dominating then unbeaten Lennox Allen in action on FOX in August 2020. Most recently, Morell thrilled a packed Armory on June 27, electrifying the crowd with a first round knockout over previously unbeaten Mario Cazares. On December 18, Morrell returns to headline on FOX for the third time in less than a year, with back-to-back main event appearances taking place at The Armory.

“I’m thankful to my whole team for this opportunity to once again perform in front of my fans at The Armory in Minneapolis,” said Morrell. “We had a great night there in June and we’ve been building on that all training camp. I can’t wait to feel the energy of the fans again and continue to show why I’m a force in the super middleweight division.”

The 29-year-old Fox (28-2-1, 13 KOs) was unbeaten in his first 23 fights, moving his way up the middleweight division until dropping a 2017 bout by decision to unbeaten champion Demetrius Andrade. Fighting out of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, he rebounded with three-straight victories before losing in the U.K. to Liam Williams in December 2019. Fox officially debuted at super middleweight in December 2020 by earning a unanimous decision over Marcos Hernandez, before most recently stopping Manny Woods in June at The Armory in Minneapolis.

“I’m excited to be fighting for my first world title — it’s ‘SlyAza’ Fox on FOX!” said Fox. “This is an early Christmas gift. Get your shopping done, get home and be ready for a show. I always stay ready and I’m going to make sure to take full advantage of this opportunity. I’ve been waiting my whole life for this shot and I’m going to bring the title back home with me.”

Born in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, Valenzuela (10-0, 6 KOs) now trains as a stablemate of unbeaten two-time world champion David Benavidez. The 22-year-old turned pro in 2018 and rode a five-bout knockout streak into his most recent fight, which saw him earn his first 10-round decision in a victory over Deiner Berrio. Valenzuela will look to close out his breakout 2021 campaign with a fifth triumph this year on December 18.

“I’m thankful to be on this big stage and in a position to show off my talents for the world on FOX,” said Valenzuela. “I’m getting better and better and more and more dangerous as I continue to grow and learn. Dulay is another tough opponent, but I’m going to be prepared for anything he tries to do in the ring. I’m working hard every day and I’m hungry to prove myself again on December 18.”

Dulay (14-2, 10 KOs) enters this fight the winner of three out of his last four bouts, as he seeks a career-best victory over Valenzuela on December 18. The 26-year-old most recently defeated Jose Gallegos by unanimous decision in November 2020, putting him back in the win column after a decision loss against former title challenger Diego Magdaleno. Fighting out of his hometown of Nashville, Tennessee, Dulay’s only other pro loss came against unbeaten top super featherweight Chris Colbert.

“I’m feeling really strong coming off my leg injury and my movement and explosiveness is back and better than ever,” said Dulay. “I expect this to be an exciting and highly entertaining fight, as we have some style similarities. I know Valenzuela is going to be a game opponent and he comes from a strong stable, but I’m looking to use this fight to restart my career. He’s going to have to deal with the best version of Austin Dulay on December 18.”

Chiesa now seeks to knock Brady from the ranks of the unbeaten and insert his name into the championship conversation.

Undefeated Brady (14-0, fighting out of Philadelphia, Pa.) aims to secure his most important victory yet and show that he is a future contender for the belt. A dominant grappler and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, Brady has built himself into one of the top prospects in the UFC with victories over Court McGee, Ismail Naurdiev and Jake Matthews. IBF and WBC unified light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev (16-0-0, 16 KOs) will take on WBC # 1 contender Marcus Browne (24-1-0, 16 KOs) in the 12-round main event.

This will mark GYM’s 50th, 51st and 52nd world championship fights in its history, dating back to 2004.

Former IBF Super Middleweight World Champion Dicaire (17-1) challenges IBF # 5 rated Cynthia Lozano (9-0-0, 7 KOs), fighting out of Mexico, in the 10-round co-featured event for the vacant IBF Female World Super Middleweight Championship. Her GYM stablemate, Clavel (14-0, 2 KOs), challenges reigning WBC Female Light Flyweight Champion Yesenia “La Nina” Gomez (18-5-3, 6 KOs), also from Mexico, in a 10-round title bout.

“This is incredible,” Dicaire said. “I remember a few years ago, when I told my coach that I wanted to turn pro, him telling me that he couldn’t say not but that it was going to be very difficult. Now that my name is mentioned with the some of the best female fighters in boxing history, I know that we’ve achieved something special for generations of girls who can now dream of a career in boxing.

“Fighting with Kim for World titles on the same card is, once again, incredible. Yvon (their promoter Yvon Michel) is a strong supporter of women’s boxing, and he is not scared to invest in us. This is such a sign of confidence for me and for sure, Kim, and we will be thanking him by giving our best performances. To be able to how an event with two World title fights for women is also a sign that slowly stereotypes are changing in boxing, but in society as well.”

“I am very proud to be fighting with Marie-Eve for GYM,” Clavel commented. “Very recently, women’s boxing has gradually taken its place in a sport that was once reserved only for men. Marie-Eve has a lot of experience in World Championships, so I am happy to join her on this major event.

“Female boxing in Canada sends a message that is simple: If you work really hard and believe in yourself there is no limit. In addition, you must be supported by a leading promoter who knows the way and has developed good relationships all over the World, and this is the case with GYM’s Yvon Michel.”

Dicaire posed.jpg
Dicaire, who is 4-1 in World title fights, will attempt to become only the fourth Quebec fighters to regain her World title belt, joining Lou Brouillard (1933), Arturo Gatti (2004), and Jean Pascal (2019).

Ranked No. 1 by the WBC and No. 8 by the Ring magazine’s independent ratings, DiCaire will be fighting for her old belt, and she find herself in an unusual position, coming off a loss for the first time, having dropped a 10-round decision this past March to Claressa Shields.

“It may be strange to say,” Dicaire explained, “but, yes, I definitely feel like I’m fighting for my title belt. “I owned this belt for a while and defended it against serious challengers, so I am really happy to have the chance to fight again for the IBF belt. I’ve never taken things for granted, but when you are on a win streak, little details that may not seem as important as when you lose. Despite the fact that I was disappointed to lose, the loss taught me a lot of things. I grew up, experience-wise, and came back to the gym with so much will, The will to become a better fighter, a stronger fighter, but above all, to prove to everyone that it’s okay to fall as long as you get back up on your feet and continue to fight for what matters to you.

“She (Lozano) is a tough fighter that will never back down. In her previous bouts, she showed a lot of conditioning and a really active way of fighting. Although she hasn’t fought a lot of experienced fighters, I know I need to take her seriously.”

WBC Silver light flyweight champion Clavel will attempt to dethrone Gomez (18-5-3, 6 KOs), who will be making her fifth title defense. Clavel hopes to become the 20th Quebec fighter to capture a World title, dating back to Jack Delaney in 1925 up to the more recent World titleholder, GYM’s Joachim Alcine in 2007.

Clavel.jpg
Clavel gained international notoriety by putting her boxing career on hold to battle COVID-19 as a nurse, which resulted in her being named the Pat Tillman Award for Service winner at the 2020 ESPYS

“She (Gomez) has a lot of experience,” Clavel remarked. “She is very good, aggressive, and boxes with a lot of determination. This opportunity is a reward for my last 15 years in boxing. All nurses and health care personnel deserve a lot of recognition.

I was due to box in in March of 2020, but my fight was called off two weeks before due to the pandemic. I decided to go to work in the hospital system. I faced new things during this time. It was very difficult mentally and physically, I came out stronger and subsequently, due to my GYM promoter, things accelerated and finally I’m realizing my dream of fighting for a World title.

Tickets are on sale and available for purchase at evenko.ca. Group reservations can also be made by contacting GYM at info@groupeyvonmichel.ca

GILBERTO ‘ZURDO’ RAMÍREZ TO FACE YUNIESKI ‘THE MONSTER’ GONZALEZ LIVE ON DAZN ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 18

LOS ANGELES, CA (November 11, 2021): Feared, former world champion, and light heavyweight sensation Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (42-0, 28 KOs) of Mazatlán, Mexico, will welcome the holiday season by taking on Cuba’s Yunieski “The Monster” Gonzalez (21-3, 17 KOs) for the WBA Light Heavyweight Title eliminator on Saturday, December 18 from the AT&T Center in San Antonio, TX. The winner of the title eliminator will secure a mandatory challenge to the WBA Light Heavyweight World Championship, a highly desired position for fighters that are often avoided in the highly protected light heavyweight division. The 12-round main event will be streamed live exclusively on DAZN worldwide.

In the co-main event, three-time world champion Seneisa “Super Bad” Estrada (21-0, 8 KOs) will defend her new WBA Minimumweight World title in a 10-round fight against the fierce, undefeated Maria “La Imparable” Santizo (9-0, 5 KOs) of Guatemala City, Gua. Next, rising super featherweight contender Lamont Roach, Jr. (21-1-1, 9 KOs) will face off against former world champion Rene “Gemelo” Alvarado (32-10, 21 KOs) in a 10-round fight for the vacant NABA Super Featherweight championship. Opening up the broadcast, former U.S. Olympian and current WBC Flyweight World Champion Marlen Esparza (10-1, 1 KOs) will defend her world title, for the first time, against the seasoned former WBA world champion, Anabel “Avispa” Ortiz (31-4, 4 KOs) of Mexico City, Mexico.

“The light heavyweight division is stacked with great talent, but none of them are taking risks, none of them want to step up to a real challenge,” said Oscar De La Hoya, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy. “Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez has proven to be among the elite of the division and is ready for a world title fight. Facing Yunieski Gonzalez, a fighter who has never backed down from a challenge, will allow both fighters to secure a shot at the WBA Light Heavyweight World Championship. I am excited to return to San Antonio, Texas, for this event. Fight fans have always welcomed us there and will get a night full of action and world championship level boxing.”

A highly feared and avoided fighter, Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez is willing to put his undefeated record on the line to prove he is the best in the light heavyweight division, and the WBA Light Heavyweight title eliminator will allow him to get closer to his goal. After a spectacular knockout victory over Cuba’s Sullivan Barrera in July 2021, ‘Zurdo’ is ready to face an equally challenging fighter in Miami’s Yunieski Gonzalez. He is determined to retain his undefeated status, reach the highly coveted 50-0 milestone, and continue his knockout streak, which he has held since 2019. A former WBO Super Middleweight World Champion, who defended his title successfully five times, ‘Zurdo’ is ready for the world stage one more time in 2021, closing off the year with a bang.

“I’m happy and excited to be back in the ring before the year ends and showcase my talent again in Texas. Of course, I was a little disappointed that Bivol didn’t want to sign the contract and make the fight happen, but that’s boxing. I know my team and Golden Boy have been working strategically to make this happen, and I will not disappoint all my fans on December 18,” said Gilberto Ramirez.

“Yuneski is a tough Cuban fighter, and I know I will need to be my best that night. With this being the WBA World Title eliminator, I know he will do everything to change his life with this fight. Once this fight is over, Bivol will have nowhere to run and will have to face me,” continued Ramirez.

“Last but not least, I sincerely appreciate Mr. Gilberto Mendoza and the entire WBA organization for allowing me to be in this position. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the WBA and will do everything in my power to highly represent the organization and become the Champion.”

Fighting out of Miami, Florida, but originally from Pinar del Rio, Cuba, Yunieski “The Monster” Gonzalez has had a successful career in the light heavyweight division. He has stayed busy in 2020 and 2021, facing and defeating Guillermo Romero, Alex Theran, and Tommy Karpency by consecutive knockout victories. The heavy-handed fighter has been seeking an elusive world title fight and will get closer to his goal if he can defeat Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez for the WBA Light Heavyweight World Title eliminator on December 18.

“First and foremost, I want to thank God, Golden Boy, my representative Henry Rivaita, DAZN, the WBA, and my coach Peter Roque,” said Yunieski Gonzalez. “I am coming to give my all December 18. It will be an interesting fight since I am the only Cuban boxer who’s not a ‘runner,’ so fight fans will enjoy every minute of all the action. I have worked hard for the last year and a half, and it has paid off. I fight for freedom for thousands of kids who don’t have this opportunity. I’m coming to give Texas a night to remember.”

“Our strong end to the year continues with Gilberto’ Zurdo’ Ramirez facing off against Yunieski Gonzalez in a WBA Light Heavyweight Title eliminator,” said Ed Breeze, EVP Rights at DAZN. “Zurdo has had a fantastic start to his light-heavyweight career and is looking to take one step closer to a world title shot by facing his toughest test December 18, live worldwide on DAZN.”

“I’m thrilled with the year that I’ve had, winning two world titles at two different divisions and ending the year with a title defense on December 18,” said Seneisa Estrada. “I was hoping to end the year with a unification fight, but we will stay prepared and ready for unification in 2022. I’m excited for December 18. I want to end the year with a bang and give my fans another exciting fight. Thank you to my promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, for the amazing year! 2022 will be even bigger and better!”

“This is going be a big test and big opportunity for me,” said Maria Santizo. “I am ready to prove that I am at a world championship level and am fully confident in my ability to become ‘The New’ WBA Minimumweight World Champion on December 18.”

“This is what it’s all about; I’ve been wanting a fight like this since my world title fight,” said Lamont Roach, Jr. “It’s time to show everyone why I belong on the world stage again.”

“After the back-to-back to losses to Roger Gutierrez, this is the most important fight of my life to get back into the big fights,” said Rene Alvarado. “Roach, Jr. is a good young fighter, but he doesn’t have the experience and has not fought anyone close to my level. I’ll show it on December 18. This is for Nicaragua.”

“My team and Golden Boy have decided that this is a good fight to get back in the ring after coming off Covid-19,” said Marlen Esparza. “I respect Ortiz; she has a lot of experience and some great wins. I am training very hard for my title defense!”

“I want to thank Golden Boy Promotions for this opportunity; I dream of being a world champion again,” said Anabel Ortiz. “We know that Marlen Esparza is a strong opponent, and she has beaten good names, but boxing is about styles. I am moving up in weight for this division, and these kinds of challenges are what motivate me to keep going.”

Zurdo vs. Gonzalez is a 12-round fight for the WBA Light Heavyweight World Title Eliminator presented by Golden Boy in association with Zurdo Promotions. The event is sponsored by Hennessy “Never Stop. Never Settle” and “BetOnline – Your Online Sportsbook Experts.” The fight will take place on Saturday, December 18, at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, TX and will be streamed live exclusively on DAZN worldwide.

LEGENDARY MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION GENNADIY “GGG” GOLOVKIN BRINGS THE “BIG DRAMA SHOW” TO JAPAN IN WORLD TITLE UNIFICATION WITH RY?TA MURATA

NEW YORK (November 11, 2021) — Gennadiy “GGG” Golovkin (41-1-1, 36 KOs), from Karaganda, Kazakhstan, boxing’s most dominant middleweight of his era, is bringing the Big Drama Show and his IBF and IBO world title belts to his opponent’s backyard, Japan, where he will rumble with two-time WBA middleweight kingpin Ry?ta Murata (16-2, 13 KOs), in a long-awaited title unification fight.  Promoted by Teiken Promotions Inc., in association with GGG Promotions, Golovkin vs. Murata takes place Wednesday, December 29, and will be streamed live from Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, which border’s Murata’s hometown of Tokyo, to over 200 countries and territories, including the U.S., exclusively on DAZN (excluding Japan and Kazakhstan). In a battle of two-time world champions and Olympic medalists, Golovkin and Murata will be looking to put their stamp on, arguably, boxing’s most storied weight class. They boast a combined record of 57-3-1, 49 KOs — a winning percentage of over 93% — with 86% of their victories coming by way of  knockout.

“I am really excited to be bringing the Big Drama Show to Japan, a country where boxing is very popular,” said Golovkin.  “Ry?ta Murata has been an outstanding champion.  It is going to be a special night when we meet in the ring to unify our titles.  We are going to give the fans a great fight.”

“I feel that my entire amateur and professional boxing career has been a preparation for this fight against Gennadiy Golovkin.  This fight will determine my place in the middleweight division and boxing history,” said Murata.  “Gennadiy Golovkin has long been the standard-bearer of the middleweight division.  To me, he is still undefeated. I have the highest respect for him.  It has been almost two years since my last fight, because of the pandemic, but I have put that time to good use, working very hard with my trainers on improving my physical conditioning and adding more power to my punches.  I am so proud Japan is hosting this fight.  It is a great honor for me.”

“What a way to close out a fantastic 2021 of boxing, with one of the best to ever step in the ring Gennadiy ‘GGG’ Golovkin facing off against Ry?ta Murata for the WBA, IBF, and IBO Middleweight World Titles,” said Ed Breeze, EVP Rights at DAZN.  “Ry?ta Murata takes a big step up against the middleweight king GGG, who looks to continue his reign in the division after dismantling Szeremeta last time out.  This is set to be a middleweight war, and we’re thrilled to have the fight live on DAZN on December 29.”

Golovkin, who has worn a world championship belt every year since 2010, will be looking to build on his division-record of successful title defenses, which currently stands at 21.  He returns to the ring in the midst of his second reign as a middleweight world champion.  Golovkin regained the IBF and IBO middleweight titles in 2019 with a unanimous decision victory over top-rated contender Sergiy Derevyanchenko, a three-time world title challenger.  It was a hellacious toe-to-toe slugfest that had the frenzied crowd at Madison Square Garden on its feet for the entire 12 rounds.  Many considered it the Fight of the Year.  In his last fight, on December 18, 2020, Golovkin scored four knockdowns against undefeated mandatory challenger Kamil Szeremeta, en route to a seventh-round stoppage and a record 21st successful middleweight title defense.  Golovkin’s Big Drama Show has packed iconic arenas around the world, selling out Madison Square Garden, The O2 in London, the Fabulous Forum and StubHub Center in Los Angeles, and T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.  This will be his first time fighting in Japan.  His 11-year rampage on the middleweight division has also attracted millions of viewers who have watched him on premium cable, pay-per-view, and DAZN.  He earned an Olympic silver medal as a middleweight in the 2004 summer games in Athens.

Murata’s two world title reigns have begun with stoppage victories in immediate  rematches that avenged losses.  After losing a split decision to Hassan N’Dam on May 20, 2017, for the vacant WBA middleweight title, he dethroned N’Dam in the seventh round five months later, on October 22, 2017.  After a successful title defense — an eighth-round TKO of Emanuele Blandamura on April 15, 2018 — Murata lost his title to Rob Brant via a unanimous decision on October 20, 2018.  Nine months later, on July 12, 2019, Murata stopped Brant in the second round to reclaim the WBA middleweight title.  In his last fight, before the pandemic, Murata successfully defended his title with a fifth-round TKO of once-beaten Steven Butler.  The six-foot Murata, one of Japan’s most popular athletes, first came to the world’s attention when he captured the Olympic gold medal in the middleweight division at the 2012 Olympics held in London.  It was the first gold medal won by a Japanese boxer since Takao Sakurai in 1964, and also Japan’s first-ever boxing medal in a weight class other than bantamweight or flyweight.  Murata also became the 100th gold medalist in Japanese Olympic history.  Murata’s last eight victories have come by way of stoppage.

AUSTRALIAN HEAVYWEIGHT CONTENDER DEMSEY MCKEAN PENS PROMOTIONAL DEAL WITH MATCHROOM

The 31-year-old southpaw from Queensland, who is trained by Tony Sims at the Matchroom Elite Boxing Gym in Essex, is the reigning WBO Asia Pacific Champion and the reigning IBF Inter-Continental Champion, belts that rank him at No.11 in the world with the WBO and No. 12 in the world with the IBF.

Demsey (19-0, 12 KOs) was used as a sparring partner by former Unified Heavyweight World Champion Anthony Joshua ahead of his huge showdown with Oleksandr Usyk at the home of Tottenham Hotspur in September before joining the WBC’s No.1 ranked Heavyweight Dillian Whyte at his Portugal training camp ahead of his cancelled fight with Otto Wallin.

“I am delighted on my recent signing and to join the Matchroom Boxing team and get back in the ring next week,” said McKean. “I’ve had a brilliant time over the last few months sparring with Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte but now it’s time to do it for real and I can’t wait to fight in America.

“Matchroom have big plans in Australia but it also gives me the chance to box all over the world including the USA and the U.K. I’m looking forward to staying active and to keep climbing the Heavyweight rankings, thank you to Eddie Hearn and Angelo DiCarlo and the Ace Boxing Group team for making this happen.”

GALAHAD VS. MARTINEZ + UNDERCARD PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Sport Chairman:

“It great to be back in Sheffield, this is a tremendous fighting city and it’s been almost two years since we’ve been here for a major fight. Terri Harper and Kid Galahad boxed on that card and now we return with both of them in big fights.

“Kid Galahad had grinded for many years, a product of Brendan Ingle’s great Ingle Gym, now gets the chance to headline in Sheffield at the Sheffield Arena defending his IBF World Title. I know this is a very proud moment for himself and the Ingle Gym.

“Terri Harper who sits on the verge of a mega fight with Mikaela Mayer for the Undisputed Championship has a very, very tough fight against America’s Alycia Baumgardner – some tremendous action of the card. Chris Billam-Smith defending his European Title against Dylan Bregeon, Donte Dixon, one of the best prospects in the country, and so much other talent to be displayed on Saturday night live and exclusive on DAZN worldwide.”

Kid Galahad:

“It’s took me a long time to get here, and I just can’t wait. Kiko mentioning Garcia and Joshua, mentally I’m different from those guys. Never in my career have I ever underestimated any fighter, on Saturday night trust me he’ll be wishing he never took this fight.

“Some of the names you [Eddie] gave me, I think Kiko was the best from all of them because he’s a former World Champion. He’s been at this level for 15 years, name me another fighter who’s been at the world level, or just below it, for 15 years, there hasn’t been. I believe I’m a different kettle of fish to him and on Saturday night I’m not going to take it easy on him, I’m going to seriously hurt him.

“Forget those unification fights for now, it’s all about Kiko Martinez on Saturday night, going in there and doing a job on him. I’m not looking to just go in there and win, he’s had some bad decisions in the past against Barrett and Warrington, so I know he’s going to come and not try leave it to the judge’s hands – that’s what I’m going to do. I’m not going to leave it to the judges’ hands, I’m going to go in there and seriously hurt him.

“All the razzmatazz and that I don’t really let it get to me I’m just focused on the fight. All the media stuff, the ring walk and people shouting your name, when I get to the venue I’m tunnel vision and ready to seriously hurt someone. I’m focused on what I’ve got to do, all that other stuff doesn’t really bother me, I’m here to win and stay champion for a long time.”

Kiko Martinez:

“First and foremost, it’s been two years of incredibly hard work, I haven’t had a day off in that time or any holiday – for my family or myself. It’s been constant hard work to get this opportunity so thank you for this opportunity to fight for this World Title.

“There have been many surprises recently in boxing, look at some of the surprises, Joshua vs. Usyk, we have situations where champions aren’t respecting their defences and their rivals. If Galahad doesn’t do the same and respect this fight, he’s going to get a big shock on Saturday night.

“I think you’ve seen the results of Spanish boxing learning from their errors over the years. We’re in a really good position at the moment and doing well.

Terri Harper:

“It’s been a long year; I had a tough time after the operations but here we are back on the main stage, and it feels like we haven’t been away. Even though I haven’t boxed for a year I’ve been in the gym non-stop, I had two weeks out to recover from the operation but since that I’ve been in the gym working, developing myself as a fighter not just physically but mentally. I’ve excited to get back out Saturday night and show everybody the improvements I’ve made, I’m not the same fighter I was a year ago and I’m ready to put on a show.

“Working with Danny over at Boxing Science, just the numbers that I’m hitting and PB’s I’m doing I know. Working with Andrew we’ve had time to enjoy ourselves in the gym and try new things, it’s just clicked. I’ve enjoyed myself and enjoyed training, I’m a completely different fighter, mentally, it’s always been the biggest thing. I lack self-believe and confidence, so I’ve been doing my own work outside the gym to take my mindset to the next level – here I am ready to go.

“I’ve never shied away from a tough fight since I turned professional with Andrew. He’d give me the choice of a couple of girls, and I would always say give me the toughest fight. That’s not just for me but for the fans as well, I’ve fought girls with winning records, former World Champions, reigning World Champions, that’s the reason why we chose Alycia. She’s a tough and respectable opponent, I want to be out there Saturday night making a statement and showing everyone I’m back.

“I know what I’ve got ahead of me on Saturday night, I’m not overlooking Alycia, but this is a steppingstone in my journey and career. I want to go on and push on to have a big 2022 and hopefully get a unification against Choi, push on for an Undisputed against Mayer.”

Alycia Baumgardner:

“My confidence is at an all-time high, I’ve been preparing for this moment for a very long time in my career and being in boxing for twenty years – this moment everybody dreams of. Here I am, well prepared and ready to give a great fight Saturday night. I’m ready to showcase what women’s boxing has been doing and give a different look on what a lot of boxing fans haven’t seen from me and from a women’s boxing perspective.

“It is a very dangerous fight for Terri, I pose a big threat, again just the experience I have with over 100 amateur fights and many former World Champion’s training camps. I’ve been prepared for these moments, just to go out there Saturday night to really do what I do best and get the win – I will become a two-time World Champion come Saturday night.

“Like I said, my confidence is at 100, there’s levels to this game and I believe I’ve been on that level, but I haven’t been given the opportunity to showcase that. Now on Saturday I’ll be able to show the many levels of boxing of what I have to offer to the sport and what I have to show Terri Harper Saturday night. She hasn’t been in the ring with somebody like me, I’m definitely going to show her and punish her every round.”

Chris Billam-Smith:

“It’s an honour to be Commonwealth, British and European Champion, I’m looking forward to defending the European Title on Saturday night. Last time out wasn’t my best performance, so I’m really looking to put on a clinical performance this time out.

“To lose by two rounds in Italy against an Italian, most people take that as a win, so I see him as unbeaten. He’s tall, awkward, he throws a lot of shots and moves well so we’re very aware of the dangers in this fight and on the same note as long as I perform to the best of my ability, I know I’ll come out on top on Saturday.

“The next twelve months is huge for me, and it’s fights like this I’ve got to perform in and keep progressing and doing the work we’ve done in the gym since the last fight. I’m ranked in the top seven in every governing body so I’m looking to push on, keep climbing those rankings until I get my opportunity – when it comes, I’ll be ready.”

Dylan Bregeon:

“This is a big opportunity for me of course, I’m very pleased to have this chance at the title. Looking over the recent history there’s only been five French champions at European level so come Saturday I’ll put on a good show and hopefully I’ll be the sixth.

“It was a tough defeat to take against Turchi I have to say, obviously I respect the decision, it can happen in any boxer’s career that some decisions don’t go your way. I’m here to put on a great show, with Chris Billam-Smith I’m sure we’re both going to express ourselves and put on a good show for everybody.”

Donte Dixon:

“I’m looking forward to it, it’s a nice little step up but obviously skills pay the bills, I should pass. It’s been eleven months, my last fight was on Billy’s undercard, I’m just looking forward to getting back out there I’ve got itchy knuckles man.

“Look good on Saturday and we move on from there but just got to get it out of the way. I’ve got to go in there, do my job, look good while doing it and sky’s the limit.”

James Flint:

“I’ve worked really hard throughout camp, mentally and physically I’m ready to face the best Dom Hunt. Hopefully he can return the favour, all the ingredients are there, it’s set to be a great fight.

“It’s like our World Title shot really, coming off the small hall shows to this and such a big platform, I’m really grateful to be here.”

Dom Hunt:

“This is why we’re in boxing for opportunities like this so thank you to everyone for making this possible, it’s down to me now to go in and do the best I can and put on a show Saturday night.

“There’s no extra nerves because when I got into boxing, I didn’t set any targets or anything, I’m just in this because I love boxing. I don’t need to do it, but I do because I love it, that’s why I get up so early and do all the hard work because I want to do it. Saturday night is just an opportunity I never thought I’d get, I know it’s a hard fight, James is a really good fighter and I’ve just got to match that and do the best I can on Saturday.”

Raven Chapman:

“I just can’t for Saturday, obviously training alongside Terri for our fights on Saturday has just been massive experience – money can’t buy that. I know I’m more than prepared Saturday night, get the ball rolling again and get my second fight out the way.

“I had my debut only six weeks ago so it’s nice to get straight back out there, six-week training camp and back in the ring, hopefully I can stay busy going forward as well.

“I think on Saturday night if I can go out there and get the stoppage that makes a big statement, I’m more than capable of doing that as well. I’ve got the power, I got the stoppage in my first fight, I’m not going to go out there and look for it. It’s just going to happen with what I work with my coach, the way we do things, it’ll just come when I break my opponent down, I’m sure I’ll work my way to that stoppage.”

Khalid Ayub:

“It’s a massive opportunity for myself, all of my family is from Sheffield so it’s good for them to come down and watch me. I’m just ready to put on a mature performance, I’m only 19 but I want everybody to know that I’ve got a good skill set and I’m ready to go do the business on Saturday.”

William Cawley:

“I can’t wait, it’s unbelievable to be boxing alongside World Champions and other great fighters. I can’t wait to get the ball rolling Saturday night.

“If it was up to me, I’d be asking to fight for the British Title in my second fight, that’s why I’ve got the best management team, to pick the correct fights for me and move forward in my career.”

Stevi Levy:

“I cannot tell you how grateful I am for you having me here, it’s the dream. I train so hard; most people dream of being a World Champion, but I just dream of being on a Matchroom show. My ultimate goal is a Commonwealth Title, I’m living the dream, on Saturday I’m going to prove I can actually fight as good as I can talk.

“I spent a lot of years on my own, now I’m so busy and I’m always around people, I’ve got my little boy, my team, I work in the gym. I love it, I’m busy, we all had a lot of time in lockdown, you can’t complain when you’re busy can you.”

BILLAM-SMITH – I’M BUILDING TOWARDS WORLD LEVEL

Chris Billam-Smith takes another step towards world level this Saturday November 13 when he makes the maiden defence of his EBU European Cruiserweight Title against Frenchman Dylan Bregeon at the Utilita Arena Sheffield, live worldwide on DAZN

‘The Gentleman’ (13-1, 10 KOs) withstood a late fightback from Tommy McCarthy to edge out a narrow split points decision to add the British and European Cruiserweight Titles to his Commonwealth Title in an epic battle at the Matchroom HQ in July.

The Bournemouth favourite is making great progress under coach Shane McGuigan, who he has trained with since turning pro in September 2017, and believes that he will be knocking on the door for a World Title opportunity in 2022.

“Tommy McCarthy definitely surprised me,” admitted Billam-Smith. “He’s a lot more elusive than I thought he would be. He was hard to nail clean. I thought I’d be able to nail him cleaner, but I didn’t really catch him that clean throughout the fight, even in the fifth or sixth round when I had him hurt a bit he was still very elusive and tricky. He was always coming back with shots. Respect to Tommy. Everything that was said in the build-up was squashed straight after the fight.

“I’m hungrier now more than ever. I know it’s a bit of a cliché statement but I really am. I’m doing a lot more in the gym now. I’m trying to perfect the little things even more so than before. Sometimes I guess I was just getting through sessions but now I’m much more meticulous in my training. I’m putting more hours and rounds in. I’m spending more time in the gym and that might be because I’m settled up here now around the corner in Stratford. The future is exciting for me and I’m just really pushing on towards that world level.

“When you get announced as a defending champion – current British, Commonwealth and European – that will be a nice moment for me. I try and appreciate those moments as much as I can. You sort of can’t really do that in the moment. You watch it back on TV and then you can appreciate it a bit more because you’re switched on in the moment. It’s a nice feeling to hear those words.”

Billam-Smith vs. McCarthy is part of a big night of action in Sheffield, Kid Galahad (28-1, 17 KOs) makes the maiden defence of his IBF Featherweight World Title against former World Champion Kiko Martinez (42-10-2, 29 KOs), WBC and IBO Super-Featherweight ruler Terri Harper (11-0-1, 6 KOs) returns to put her belts on the line against the USA’s Alycia Baumgardner (10-1, 6 KOs), Donte Dixon (5-0, 3 KO) squares off with Jordan McCorry (19-7-1, 4 KOs) in an eight-round Super-Featherweight contest, James Flint (9-0-1, 2 KOs) battles DomHunt (7-0, 1 KO) for the vacant Central Area Welterweight Title, plus there’s action for Harper’s sparring partner Raven Chapman (1-0, 1 KO), Sheffield Light-Heavyweight Khalid Ayub (1-0), Oldham Bantamweight debutant William Cawley and Kings Lynn Featherweight Stevi Levy (4-0).

CHRISTY MARTIN PROMOTIONS RETURNS WITH MAYHEM IN MYRTLE 4 ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 20 AT CROWN REEF RESORT AND WATERPARK IN MYRTLE BEACH, SC

On Saturday, November 20, at the beautiful Crown Reef Resort and Waterpark in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Christy Martin Promotions will proudly present “Mayhem In Myrtle 4,” a night of world-class professional boxing action.

In the night’s six-round main event, popular undefeated super featherweight Benigno “Benny” Aguilar (6-0, 3 KOs) from Crescent City, Florida, will face Miami via Managua, Nicaragua’s Julio “El Halconcito” Buitrago (13-32, 3 KOs).

Blessed with an army of supporters, Aguilar always brings a large collective of fans to watch his, thus far, always successful ring exploits. The 22-year-old is a patient counterpuncher with good power and an excellent jab. He will be looking to stay unbeaten against an experienced 47-fight veteran in Buitrago, who turned professional 16 years ago and has fought internationally several times.

General admission tickets for “Mayhem In Myrtle 4” are available for $50 at Eventbrite.com or locally at Beast Boxing Myrtle Beach (3870 S Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach). Ringside Tickets are SOLD OUT.

The co-main event, announced last week at a special press conference in his hometown of Danbury, CT, will feature USA #1 amateur super heavyweight and national champion Fernely Feliz Jr. making his highly anticipated professional debut in a four-rounder against Stephen Kirnon (2-3-1, 1 KO) of Bronx, New York.

Scheduled for action is a six-round welterweight grudge match between Charlotte, North Carolina’s Kristopher Kyle Harrell (8-1, 6 KOs) and Durham, North Carolina veteran Marklin Bailey (6-7, 4 KOs).

And in one of the night’s other highly anticipated supporting bouts, promising undefeated super featherweight DeMichael Harris (5-0, 5 KOs) of Decatur, Georgia, via Cleveland, will put his perfect record on the line against Julio Gomez Leyva (0-1-1) of Norcross, Georgia via La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico.

Also scheduled is a six-round super middleweight bout between undefeated Russian power puncher Artem Brusov (9-0, 8 KOs) and Kannapolis, North Carolina, veteran Courtney McCleave (2-11, 1 KO); as well as an appearance by power-punching 6? 7? Nigerian heavyweight Onoriode “Godzilla” Ehwarieme (18-2, 17 KOs) against an opponent that is TBA.

In a special female attraction, Georgetown, Texas’ undefeated Destiny “Too Sweet” Jones (1-0) will also face pro debuting Shaniqua Frazier in a lightweight four-rounder. 22-year old Jones, from Cedar Park, Texas, had extensive amateur experience including the 2018 Austin Regional Golden Gloves; 2017 Nationals; 2017 Eastern Tournaments; and the USA Boxing Eastern Elite Qualifiers, among many others.

A pair of winless heavyweights, Julio Mendoza (0-1) from Crescent City, Florida, and Franklin, New York’s Drew Nolan (0-2), will each try to get into the win column over four rounds; while two undefeated featherweight prospects, Tampa, Florida’s Daniel “G.D.F.E.” Bailey (8-0, 4 KOs) and Roanoke, Virginia’s Donte Dunnaville (4-0, 3 KOs) will clash in a six-round showdown.

Bailey will be having his seventh fight of 2021, an unusual feat during normal times… a miracle during a pandemic, is the cousin of iron-fisted multi-weight world champion Randall “KO King” Bailey.

In another women’s battle, undefeated Miranda Reyes (4-0-1, 2 KOs) of Houston will return in a four-round super lightweight showdown against Covington, Kentucky’s Camille Casson; and in a four-round welterweight encounter, Alexander Thiel (1-0) of Oakland, California, will face Taylorsville, North Carolina’s Dylan Williams (0-1).

In another six-round middleweight scrap, Saint Petersburg, Florida’s undefeated Richard Graham (3-0-1, 2 KOs) will take on Julian Valerio (3-6, 2 KOs) of Green Cove Springs, Florida via Brooklyn, New York.

Rounding out the action will be a four-round lightweight battle, between Bronx, New York’s once-beaten Brandon Idrogo (4-1, 4 KOs) and winless Roderick Gilkey (0-11-1) of Memphis.

“I am excited about Mayhem 4; the card is loaded with a lot of young talent,” said promoter Christy Martin. “Beningo Aguilar is all-action and crowd-pleasing and I can’t wait to see Fernely Feliz make his professional debut. He has so much positive energy moving with him.”

The Crown Reef Resort and Waterpark is located at 2913 South Ocean Blvd. in Myrtle Beach. On fight night, doors open at 5 pm and the action starts at 6:00 pm.

The event next month will be the first UK promotion by Probellum, a next generation sports company designed to blend promotion, media and content whilst supporting grassroots boxing.

Three-weight world champion Ricky Burns (43-8-1, 16 KOs) will return to action for the first time in over two years when he squares off with Argentina’s Emiliano Dominguez Rodriguez (26-9-1, 10 KOs).

The popular Scottish fighter will join headliner Lewis Ritson, Thomas Patrick Ward and more when Probellum host the star-studded event called ‘Unstoppable’ at the Rainton Arena in Sunderland on Saturday, December 18.

Tickets for the show will be on sale beginning Monday, 15 November and priced at £45, £60, £80, £120, and £160, while broadcast details will be announced in the near future.

Lewis Ritson (21-2, 12 knockouts) makes his highly-anticipated return, as the former British and WBA Intercontinental champion has his first fight under the Probellum promotional banner, taking on Mexico’s Christian Uruzquieta (20-4-2, 7 knockouts).

Undefeated Thomas Patrick Ward (30-0-1, 4 KOs) looks to build on his current rankings of #3 with the WBO, #8 with the IBF and #11 with the WBA and move a step closer to a world title shot, taking on Leonardo Padilla (20-3, 14 KOs), who is ranked #5 with the WBA.

Some of the North East’s best fighters will be on the card too, including talented Mark Dickinson (1-0, 1 KO), and local hero Joe Laws (10-1, 5 KOs), plus Probellum will work alongside promoter Phil Jeffries to see the likes of former English title challenger Joe Maphosa (10-1, 1 KO), plus undefeated pair Terry Wilkinson (8-0), and Adam Cope (1-0) also involved on the bill.

“It is our second big event in quick succession following our world-title double header Revolution card in Dubai one week earlier, so it means fight fans are being treated to two huge shows on opposite ends of the world in the space of just seven days.

“These are the types of stacked cards that people can come to expect from Probellum moving forward, so we can’t wait to give everybody an event to remember next month.”

BITTER RIVALS CHRIS EUBANK JR AND LIAM WILLIAMS SET TO CLASH CARDIFF ON DECEMBER 11

OFFICIAL WEIGH-IN

Cardiff, Wales (November 11, 2021) The long-running rivalry between Chris Eubank Jr and Liam Williams will be settled in explosive fashion on Saturday, December 11 in a highly-anticipated showdown promoted by BOXXER and Wasserman Boxing at the Motorpoint Arena Cardiff, live and exclusive on Sky Sports.

Eubank (31-2, 23 KO’s) and Williams (23-3, 18 KO’s) both lay claim to being the #1 middleweight in the UK and have traded verbal jabs numerous times in recent years. Now Eubank is taking the fight to Williams’ doorstep as he heads to the Welsh capital city of Cardiff to face the Welshman on home soil.

With both fighters known for having all-action styles and a proven pedigree for finishing fights inside the distance, their December 11 meeting promises to be one of the most electrifying British boxing contests of the year in a fiery England-Wales showdown.

“Liam Williams has been saying a lot to try to catch my attention and bait me into fighting him,” said Eubank Jr. “It’s now got to the point where everyone is asking me to shut him up, and on December 11, I’m going to give the people what they want.

“As I’ve said, I’m only involved in big fights from now on and this is the fight people want to see. They want to see if Williams can back up what he’s been saying – which he won’t. I’m on a mission towards World Titles and Liam Williams is someone I’ve got to go through to get there. I’m looking forward to shutting him up.”

Williams said, “I’m very excited to get the fight made. It’s been coming for a long time. I can’t wait to shut his mouth once and for all. There’s nothing like a big domestic showdown to get the juices flowing. A lot of people have been calling for this fight for a long time. I personally think it’s the biggest all-British fight outside of AJ and Fury.

“I’m really excited and just counting down the days. I’ve not been that impressed with Chris’ recent performances. People are talking about how he’s brought Roy Jones in to improve him but if I’m being totally honest I don’t think he’s improved one bit. A win in this fight and possibly even a stoppage over Eubank and my name is going to be well and truly out there and in the mix for world titles.”

Adam Smith, Sky Sports Head of Boxing Development, remarked, “We’re delighted to deliver a pre-Christmas cracker as Chris Eubank Jr collides with Liam Williams in a huge British battle on December 11, live on Sky Sports.

“Chris Eubank Jr’s world title ambitions will be severely tested by Williams, the fiery Welshman, who dragged WBO Champion Demetrius Andrade into a punishing dogfight earlier this year.

“With their heated feud ready to boil over, Williams will relish the chance to inflict a crushing defeat. Is Eubank Jr ready for the biggest names in the world? We’ll soon find out as Sky Sports serves up a festive treat!”

“This is the fight that everyone has been talking about,” said Wasserman Boxing promoter Kalle Sauerland. “The public demand has been overwhelming. On December 11, Chris Eubank Jr and Liam Williams are finally going to meet in the centre of the ring to settle their differences once and for all. This is without a doubt the biggest fight in British boxing right now.”

“This fight has everything and has been what all the fans have been asking for. It’s an amazing way to end the year for Boxxer on Sky Sports and bringing this type of fight as part of a normal Sky Sports subscription is a very proud moment,” said Ben Shalom, BOXXER founder and CEO.

“They genuinely dislike each other, they both come forward non-stop and Eubank is heading into the dragon’s den to settle their issue on Williams’ home soil. I’ll be amazed if this doesn’t turn out to be British boxing’s fight of the year. A stacked card will sit underneath – Cardiff is in for a very special night.”

The Wasserman Boxing-promoted Eubank fought in Newcastle last month, stopping German challenger Wanik Awdijan with a body shot in the fifth round of their contest. It was Eubank’s second fight and win of the year, following his dominant win over Marcus Morrison in May.

Williams last fought in April this year, when he rode a seven-fight streak of stoppage wins into a world title challenge against WBO Middleweight Champion Demetrius Andrade in Florida. Williams brought the fight to the undefeated defending champion and forced Andrade to dig deep to retain his title by way of judges’ decision.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public tomorrow, Friday November 12 and the two fighters will be present at a press conference in London next week, with details of the conference date and time to be announced shortly.

“I want to work and give the fans a good show. I want to show who William Zependa is. We are well prepared if it comes but if it doesn’t I will still give the fans a good show.

“This is a difficult fight, but we have the talent, we have a good team, and I am confident in myself. When the opportunity for a world title shot comes, we will take it and demonstrate to the world who William Zependa is.”

JEOVANIS BARRAZA, WELTERWEIGHT CONTENDER:
“I know Alexis is a great prospect of Golden Boy and that he is a high level fighter, but that does affect me. I am hungry and I want to earn my place. I want to thank my team for this opportunity and I want to assure them and everyone out there that: I know myself, I know who I can fight and I know that November will be a good night for me.

“Like all boxers, we remember how much we sacrifice for the sport and that motivates me, personally. I am motivated, and know that I am doing this for my kids and for my family.”

QUOTES : PHOENIX NATIVE DAVID BENAVÍDEZ RECEIVES PROCLAMATION FROM OFFICE OF MAYOR KATE GALLEGO DECLARING NOVEMBER 13 “DAVID BENAVÍDEZ DAY” IN HIS HOMETOWN – Plus Benavidez Brothers Media Workout

PHOENIX (November 10, 2021) – Unbeaten two-time world champion and Phoenix native David “El Bandera Roja” Benavídez received a proclamation from Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego at his media workout Wednesday, as the Mayor’s office declared this Saturday, November 13 “David Benavídez Day” in his hometown. The 24-year-old Benavidez will take on contender Kyrone Davis this Saturday night live on SHOWTIME in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Footprint Center in Phoenix.

Benavídez was joined by his older brother José Benavídez, who faces Francisco Emanuel Torres in Saturday’s co-main event, and his father and trainer Jose Benavídez Sr., at Wednesday’s event at Central Boxing Gym.

The event also featured the unveiling of a mural of the Benavídez family outside of the boxing gym in honor of the city’s boxing stars. The Benavídez family were presented the proclamation by Mary Rose Wilcox, the former Chairperson of the Arizona Boxing Commission. Other dignitaries in attendance included Arizona State Representative Cesar Chavez and City of Phoenix Councilperson Laura Pastor.

Tickets for the live event are on sale now and are available for purchase through Ticketmaster.com.

Here is what the participants had to say Wednesday:

DAVID BENAVÍDEZ

“This gym just reminds me of my childhood. All I did from age six to fifteen was train. All of my memories are in boxing. I learned how to be a man because of this place.

“I was born and raised in Phoenix and the fact that I can come back to my hometown and be recognized like this just means the world to me.

“I’ve worked extremely hard for this moment and it’s been a long time coming. I’ve been a professional for almost eight years now. I’ve been putting in work for a long time and I’m excited for the future. A lot of people came out to support us today and it means so much to me. I’m doing it for all of them.

“I’m excited for my brother to come back. His punching power looks good and most importantly, he’s hungry to be back. He’s excited to fight in front of our fans. Having him back in the mix is extra motivation for me.

“I know Kyrone Davis did well in his fight against Anthony Dirrell, and although he doesn’t have much knockout power, he’s never been stopped himself. So I’d like to be the first one to accomplish that. He’s a boxer and counter puncher and he’s definitely a live dog.

“I feel like I’m going to be able to stay at super middleweight for a while. We’re not really struggling to make weight more than anyone else. As long as we have a good routine, I’ll be able to keep making it for a couple more years.”

JOSÉ BENAVÍDEZ

“It means a lot to have the support of my city and it motivates me even more. All the hard work we’ve put in since we were kids is paying off. Seeing this mural gives me even more motivation to keep working toward becoming world champion.

“It feels good to have our whole family honored here. We have a lot of support, but we’re still humble people. I’ve put my life into boxing and I’m going to keep doing that until the day I retire.

“Me and my brother used to come train in this gym every day and we’ve come a long way. We’re both going to keep rising. I want to thank everyone for supporting Team Benavídez. I can’t wait for Saturday night to get in the ring in front of all our people here.

“I have to thank all my fans and everyone who has been supporting me throughout the years. It’s going to be fireworks on Saturday night. I’m coming with a bang and I’m stopping everyone at 154-pounds.”

JOSÉ BENAVÍDEZ SR., David and José’s Father and Trainer

“It hasn’t been easy, but I’m super proud of what David and Jose have been able to accomplish. I’m very thankful to everyone who is out here supporting us. It’s taken a lot of hard work. We’re here to make history and we’re going to continue to keep working hard.

“Jose was always the motivation for David. That was his idol. He just wanted to be next to him, and look where we are now. This Saturday is going to be super special for us.

“We’re fighting in front of our hometown and that has a lot of value for us. Words can’t even describe how we feel. It’s very emotional for me.

“This is a very emotional and motivational experience. It’s like a dream come true. I don’t want to wake up. I never dreamed of them becoming champions, but look where we’re at. Hard work pays off.”

MARY ROSE WILCOX, Former Chairperson of the Arizona Boxing Commission

“This is a great event for the community. Phoenix loves boxing and they love the Benavídez family. I’m so happy that we were able to help highlight them and help get Arizona back into boxing ahead of this big show Saturday night.”

MIAMI (Nov. 10, 2021) – Pound-for-pound queen Cris Cyborg (24-2, 1 NC) returns to the BELLATOR cage, putting her featherweight title on the line for the third time against Irish-born slugger Sinead Kavanagh (7-4) this Friday on SHOWTIME. Holding a perfect BELLATOR record of 3-0, with all three wins coming by way of finish, Cyborg has been tearing through the BELLATOR 145-pound division and looks to stay on top against the streaking Kavanagh. In the co-main event, top-ten heavyweights collide as No. 5-ranked heavyweight Tyrell Fortune (11-1) squares off with No. 6-ranked Linton Vassell (21-8) in a matchup that will help shape the heavyweight title picture.

In addition to an incredible main and co-main event, the main card on SHOWTIME is stacked with three other amazing bouts. Featherweight phenom No. 6-ranked Aaron Pico (8-3) squares off with undefeated No. 8-ranked Justin Gonzales (12-0), No.1-ranked featherweight Arlene Blencowe (14-8) takes on No. 7-ranked Pam Sorenson (9-3), and undefeated No.7-ranked heavyweight Steve Mowry (9-0) clashes with Rakim Cleveland (22-13-1) during the must-watch main card.

The five-fight main card will air live on SHOWTIME in the United States at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. In addition, the seven-bout preliminary card will stream live three hours earlier beginning at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on the BELLATOR MMA YouTube channel, SHOWTIME Sports YouTube channel and Pluto TV.

Tickets for BELLATOR 271: Cyborg vs. Kavanagh are on sale now and can be purchased online at Bellator.com.

Here is what the fighters had to say on Wednesday, Nov. 10:

CRIS CYBORG: BELLATOR MMA FEATHERWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPION

“I respect Sinead, I respect her as a fighter and I’m very excited to fight her on Friday.”

“I believe that I’m the champ, but I do think the challenger should have to fight in my home. I believe the challenger should have to come for the champion.”

“I love BELLATOR, it reminds me of my great times in Strikeforce.”

“I’ve fought in Florida before, my uniform is Miami colors, I’m very excited to fight in front of my fans here in Miami.”

“I’m really excited to showcase the work I did with Antonio McKee, I worked on my wrestling there. I’m very happy and excited to show this.”

“I stay off social media when I’m in camp, I focus on my training and my opponent, I know I have five rounds to finish the fight, so I go in the cage, execute my gameplan and retain my title.”

SINEAD KAVANAGH: NO. 5-RANKED BELLATOR FEATHERWEIGHT

“Everything is perfect. I’m feeling strong. It’s been a great week. I’ve seen her and I ain’t afraid.”

“It’s amazing (to be representing Irish MMA). It’s amazing where I’ve come from and where I’m at now. I’m just proud of myself for being here and sticking at it. That alone has given me strength.”

“(Cyborg) is over here playing mind games. You wont even believe what they’re up to. They’re tagging me in that suplex (video). She has these ‘Squid Game’ cards with her face on them and she’s leaving them everywhere I go. She’s leaving them everywhere I go. She’s leaving them in my corner, leaving them on my floor. She’s trying to play her mind games. She’s trying to break me, but she can’t.”

“I was next in line (for this fight) and she was calling out other people. When I got the call, I was emotional because it’s well overdue. I should be here. It was a rollercoaster for me. It’s finally happened, it’s finally here and I’m ready to get going.”

“She gets too much (respect) in the cage. The cage is not to be giving respect, the cage is to fight, and the cage is to be leaving my soul in there and that’s exactly what I’m going to do Friday night.”

“I can’t wait to hit her.”

TYRELL FORTUNE: NO. 5-RANKED BELLATOR HEAVYWEIGHT

“I think he’s a veteran of the sport. He’s been around for a long time. 30 or more fights under his belt. He’s a kickboxer from Britain and he’s a tough guy in general so I know what he has to offer and I know what he brings to the table. If he tries to wrestle me, we all know how that’s going to go.”

“We’ll have to wait and see what happens at the beginning of next year. We’ll have to see if Bader comes back to defend his title and that will pretty much tell us a lot about where we go and who I should be fighting next. As far as Fedor, he only has one more fight left on his contract, so what do I care who he fights next.”

“I’m definitely happy to be in a different state and a different arena and all of that. I feel like that adds a little more excitement to the fight.”

LINTON VASSELL: NO. 6-RANKED BELLATOR HEAVYWEIGHT

“I am coming off two big wins, so this was obviously the next fight to make. After those two wins, I was destined for a number one contender fight, which is what I think this is because Tyrell is Highly ranked, just like me.  I want to be champ, so why not now?”

“Obviously, the fight will end with me winning in a TKO or a submission. I predict that he will break in the second round, especially if I come in at my best, which I have, and don’t rush. I will be patient, fight my fight and end this fight within the distance.”

“I am not going to lie, that three-fight losing streak was terrible. I even contemplated retirement. I was able to refocus on my weight so I could train properly and not gas out. After preparing and speaking with my coaches, the proof has been in the pudding. I am on a tear right now and approaching an eventual title shot.”

“This fight is business as usual. I know Tyrell is a great wrestler, but I have been working extremely hard on that aspect of my game. I am not saying I am a wrestler, but my preparation in that part of the game will allow me to match him there and overwhelm him with what I am better at.”

Top Super Welterweight Contender Sebastian Fundora Takes On Fellow Unbeaten Sergio Garcia in WBC Title Eliminator Sunday, December 5 in Gervonta Davis vs. Isaac Cruz SHOWTIME PPV Co-Main Event from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES – November 10, 2021 – Rising super welterweight star Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora will square off against fellow unbeaten Sergio Garcia in a WBC Super Welterweight World Title Eliminator that serves as the co-main event of the Gervonta Davis vs. Isaac Cruz SHOWTIME PPV on Sunday, December 5 in a Premier Boxing Champions event from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

The pay-per-view will begin at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and will also feature hard-hitting middleweight contenders Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Carlos Adames squaring off in a 10-round battle. Kicking off the pay-per-view, top featherweight contender Eduardo Ramirez faces former title challenger Miguel Marriaga for 10 rounds of action.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by Mayweather Promotions, GTD Promotions and TGB Promotions, are on sale now and can be purchased at AXS.com.

“This is a pay-per-view undercard that perfectly fits with what the main event between Gervonta Davis and Isaac Cruz will deliver – all action from start to finish,’’ said Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions. “Sebastian Fundora, Sergio Garcia, Sergiy Derevyanchenko, Carlos Adames, Eduardo Ramirez and Miguel Marriaga are all hard-hitting boxers who come to fight and are looking for the knockout. Fans that purchase tickets to STAPLES Center or tune in to SHOWTIME PPV on Sunday, December 5 can expect explosive entertainment from start to finish.’’

Fundora (17-0-1, 12 KOs) continues to rise up the super welterweight ranks and recently delivered his most impressive victory to date by stopping Jorge Cota in four rounds in May. The six-foot-six brawler has reached this point by showing off the skills of a rugged boxer who is more comfortable fighting on the inside than most. Born in West Palm Beach, Fla. to his Mexican mother and Cuban father and trainer, Freddy – both boxers – the 23-year-old now lives and trains in Coachella, Calif.

“I’m super excited to be back in the ring,” said Fundora. “I haven’t stopped training since my fight against Cota and I’m always prepared for every opportunity that arises. I don’t know much about Garcia, but my promoter has told me for the past two years that he’s from Spain and he’s ranked number two in the WBC. So it only makes sense for me, being the number four-ranked fighter in the WBC, that we face each other. This is going to be an exciting fight on December 5.”

The 29-year-old Garcia (33-0, 14 KOs) will bring an edge in pro experience into his U.S. debut against Fundora on December 5. Fighting out of Torrelavega, Cantabria, Spain, Garcia has competed professionally since 2012. He ascended the rankings by traveling to the U.K. to defeat then unbeaten Ted Cheeseman on his home soil in 2019 and followed up with a triumph over veteran contender Sergey Rabchenko. Garcia has added three victories since then, including 2020 wins over Pablo Mendoza and Gregory Trenel.

“I want to thank my team for giving me this opportunity to show my boxing skills to the U.S. audience,” said Garcia. “I’m very excited to make the most of this chance that I have. After winning four European championships and other important titles, I feel that I’m ready to win a world title. I am only focused on Sebastian Fundora, but after this fight I want Jermell Charlo or Brian Castaño.”

A 2008 Olympian for his native Ukraine, Derevyanchenko (13-3, 10 KOs), will seek another opportunity at a middleweight world title. Known as “The Technician” and now training out of Brooklyn, Derevyanchenko is long established as a top middleweight contender, having faced the likes of Jermall Charlo, Daniel Jacobs and Gennadiy Golovkin. He owns victories over contenders including Tureano Johnson, Jack Culcay and Sam Soliman. .His most recent fight ended in a decision loss to Charlo in a SHOWTIME PPV headlining fight in September 2020.

“I’m excited to get back in the ring and continue my journey toward becoming world champion,” said Derevyanchenko. “Adames is a good fighter and I respect what he can do, but he’s standing in my way right now. I’m looking forward to this challenge and I can’t wait to give the fans another great fight.”

A native of Comendador, Dominican Republic, Adames (20-1, 16 KOs) fights out of New York City as he seeks to earn a second shot at a world championship. The 27-year-old defeated a slew of contenders including Frank Galarza, Joshua Conley, Alejandro Barrera and former Champion Carlos Molina on his way to a 2019 title shot that he lost by narrow decision to Patrick Teixeira. In his most recent outing, Adames scored a third-round TKO over Alexis Salazar on the Davis vs. Barrios SHOWTIME PPV undercard in June.

“I am very happy to return to action on December 5,” said Adames. “I’m having an excellent and very demanding training camp, so my opponent better be 100% ready. It’s very exciting to be on the undercard of this huge event. My fans expect a great performance from me and I’m going to deliver it.”

Fighting out of Sinaloa, Mexico, Ramirez (25-2-3, 12 KOs) has risen up the featherweight rankings with three-straight sensational knockout victories. He stopped then-unbeaten Leduan Barthelemy in November 2019 before blasting out Miguel Flores in December 2020 and most recently dropping Isaac Avelar in May. The 28-year-old is currently riding wins in five of his last six fights since losing to then 126-pound champion Lee Selby in 2017. He’s won 16 of his last 19 fights overall, with his only other blemishes coming in a draw against Barthelemy that was later avenged, and a decision loss to Claudio Marrero.

“I can’t wait to be back on another big card against another very good fighter in Miguel Marriaga,” said Ramirez. “He’s very strong and he has good experience against top fighters. Vasyl Lomachenko is the only one to stop him, but I will be the second because I need to make a statement with this fight and show everyone that I’m ready to fight for the title.”

A former world title challenger at 130 and 126 pounds, Marriaga (30-4, 26 KOs) most recently stopped Jorge Garcia Jimenez in April to make it victories in five of his last six outings since 2018. The 35-year-old fights out of Arjona, Colombia and has fought professionally since 2009. Marriaga went the distance in a pair of featherweight title fights against Oscar Valdez and Nicholas Walters, in addition to losing a super featherweight title fight to Vasyl Lomachenko.

“I am training very hard for this fight as I always do,” said Marriaga. “I’m very happy with my All-Star Boxing team for getting me this fight. Winning on December 5 will propel me to another world title fight. My only goal is to achieve my childhood dream of becoming a world champion and I’m not going to let this opportunity slip by me.”
