ABRAHAM LOPEZ CLOSES OUT ESTRELLA TV’S BOXEO ESTELAR 2016 SERIES OF LA FIGHT CLUB WITH SUCCESSFUL DEFENSE OF NABA FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE

LOS ANGELES (December 2, 2016) In the final LA FIGHT CLUB of 2016, Abraham “Chamaco” Lopez (22-0-1, 15 KOs) defended his NABA Featherweight title against Sergio “Micky” Lopez (20-13-1, 13 KOs). The bout was a tough one, with “El Chamaco” emerging with a unanimous decision victory that kept his undefeated record intact.

“He was definitely a warrior,” said Abraham Lopez. “I definitely thought that there was moments throughout the fight that he was going to go down, but it goes to show how tough he was. I definitely think that it was my night tonight.”

“Who won here was the fans,” said Sergio Lopez. “Every time the crowd screamed with emotion, I took pride because I was the one putting on the show. I am proud of the work we did tonight, and it felt like a war in the ring.”

VIP Guests of the night included Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions Oscar De La Hoya, Former two-Time Light Middleweight World Champion Fernando”El Feroz” Vargas, WBC Diamond, WBA & Ring Magazine Lightweight World Champion Jorge “El Niño de Oro” Linares, NABA Super Featherweight Champion Carlos “The Solution” Morales, Jesus “Renuente” Soto Karass, Jason”El Animal”Quigley, Charles Huerta, Christian “Chimpa” Gonzalez and Joet Gonzalez.

In the co-main event — a scheduled eight round bantamweight battle — rising Columbian prospect and LA FIGHT CLUB veteran Oscar “El Jaguar” Negrete (15-0, 6 KOs) faced experienced opponent Raul Hidalgo (25-15, 19 KOs) of Nuevas Casas Grandes, Mexico. The battle of the bantamweights made it until 2:49 in the fourth round, when the referee stopped the fight, giving the technical knock out victory to “El Jaguar”.

“The game plan is to win,” said Oscar Negrete. “When you face an experienced fighter like him, you know you are going to encounter some dirty tricks. However, I remembered my training – to keep my distance, to place pressure, and to attack in a manner that would break him down slowly. That was what won this fight.”

Opening up the Boxeo Estelar broadcast Edgar “Kid Neza” Valerio (9-0, 5 KOs) gave one of his most complete performances to date, dominating in a six-round featherweight combat against the resilient Guadalupe De Leon (9-15, 5 KOs) of Welasco, Texas. Valerio was able to make De Leon fall in the third round after a left hook to the head, which turned into a cut over De Leon’s right eye by the fifth round due to Valerio’s powerful punches. By the sixth round, following a series of combinations, the referee stopped the fight, awarding the technical knockout to Valerio.

“I was in the ring with a more experienced fighter, and yet I was able to get the win for being the smarter man,” said Edgar Valerio. “We didn’t get much chance to study him as a fighter, but just looking at his past fights and how calm he was in the ring made us switch up the game plan. All in all, I’m thankful to God, my team, and Joel De La Hoya Management for the opportunity.”

Rounding out the RING TV portion of the night, in a scheduled four round light heavy weight fight, Niko “Baby Face” Valdez (3-0, 3 KOs) made quick work of Gainesville, Florida’s Will “Bad News” Williams (0-3). The bout only lasted the first minute of the first round, with Valdez landing two consecutive hooks to the body and head that caused Williams to hit the mat.

“The stoppage was going to happen, it was only a matter of when,” spoke Niko Valdez. “I was expecting my opponent to be on the weaker side since he had trouble making weight, and all I had to do was use my skills to know when to attack and put him against the ropes.”

Jousce Gonzalez (3-0, 3 KOs) of Glendora, CA was able to get the early stoppage of El Paso, Texas’ Jordan Alvarado (0-2) within the first round of the scheduled four-round super featherweight bout. Gonzalez knocked Alvarado down twice in the fight, the first with a left hand to the temple, the following with a left punch to the body that forced Alvarado to his knee.

“I’m overjoyed by the result, and this sets the tone for my career” said Jousce Gonzalez. “But this is only the beginning. I have a long road ahead of me, and I can’t wait to hit the gym to train hard.”

Francisco “Alacran” Esparza (5-0, 2 KOs) of Las Vegas, Nevada tore through Gerardo Molina (1-3, 1 KO) of Saucillo, Mexico, stopping Molina in round two of the scheduled four-round featherweight bout. Esparza, trained by former two-time super welterweight world champion Fernando Vargas, broke down his opponent with a powerful right hand body punch, causing the referee stop the fight at 2:59 in the second round.

“When a former world champion is your trainer, you get results like these,” spoke Francisco Esparza. “Vargas pushes the best out of me, in and out of the ring. I knew I just had to be patient in the ring. When I landed that right hand, and I saw that I hurt him, and my intuition told me to unleash on him.”

Opening the night and a part of the Ring TV livestream, Philadelphia’s Todd Unthank-May (10-0, 4 KOs) defeated Daniel Najera (5-1, 1 KO) of Nuevo Leon, Mexico in the first round, adding another knock out to his unblemished record.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to get a knock out,” spoke Todd Unthank-May of his knock out. “I knew if I was patient, I would be able to get the result that I wanted, I just had to break him down. I’m excited to maintain this momentum through 2017.”

CARLOS “THE SOLUTON” MORALES DEFEATS LUIS “LA ESTRELLA” FRANCO TO CLAIM THE NABA SUPER FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE

LOS ANGELES (August 5, 2016) – On this edition of LA FIGHT CLUB, the fans were treated to non-stop action from start to finish at the Belasco Theater in Downtown Los Angeles. Special guests in attendance included NBA Superstar Metta World Peace, NABF Super Lightweight Champion Antonio “Relentless” Orozco, NABA Featherweight Champion Abraham “Chamaco” Lopez, Jesus “Renuente” Soto Karass, “King” Gabriel Rosado, Vyacheslav “Lion Heart-Chingonskyy” Shabranskyy, Roy “Pitbull” Tapia, Alexis Rocha, Niko “Baby Face” Valdes and David Mijares, who all sat ringside watching the action.

Fighting in the televised main event on Estrella TV’s Boxeo Estelar, Los Angeles local Carlos “The Solution” Morales (14-1-3, 6 KOs) went on an all-out rampage against Luis “La Estrella” Franco (14-2-1, 9 KOs) of Havana, Cuba in a featherweight bout for the vacant NABA Super Featherweight title. The evenly matched fighters exchanged blocks and jabs for all 10 rounds, with both fighters giving it their all. Eventually “The Solution” came out on top as the judges awarded the NABA crown to the LA FIGHT CLUB fan favorite with scores of 98-92, 97-93, 96-94.

In the televised co-main event, Glendora, California’s Joet Gonzalez (14-0, 6 KOs) maintained his undefeated status when he took on Los Angeles native Sergio “Micky” Lopez (19-12-1, 12 KOs) in a featherweight bout that went the distance. Gonzalez showed off his impressive left hook throughout the fight, using it to slowly break down Lopez round by round. Lopez countered and went on the defensive, landing shots to the face and body and at times cornered Joet on the ropes. The ninth round was filled with intensity as Joet landed massive jabs to the face, stunning Lopez. The fighters’ fury carried over to the 10th round, with the judges ruling in favor of Gonzalez via unanimous decision.

“I was mad during the fight,” said Joet Gonzalez. “I felt the referee wasn’t doing his job correctly. There were various points during the fight in which my opponent would lean in, head butt and hold me. However, despite the referee not noticing, I am glad the judges took note of my boxing ability. This was my first 10-round fight, and I prepared for this fight a little differently, using strength and weight training. I was able to share the card with my brother, which means a lot to me. We got first round knockout and unanimous decision victories.”

“During the fight, I didn’t think we were that far away points wise. In the end, it was the fans who won tonight,” said Lopez on the fight. “I feel we put on a great show for everybody. After our 30 days, I am going to hit the gym again and look forward to when I’ll hit the mat again to please the crowd.”

In the swing bout of the night, LA’s Angel Bojado (1-0, 0 KO) made his professional debut with a bang by defeating Euris Silverio (0-4) of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Knocked down in the second round, Bojado got right back up and went back to business with a vengeance and was awarded a victory by unanimous decision.

“This fight was a long time coming,” said Bojado. “This victory will be the foundation for the rest of my boxing career. It’s been about two years since I have been in the ring, and training hard in North Carolina has paid off. I knew my opponent was tough because all his fights went to the judges for the decision. I am excited to only go up from here.”

Los Angeles local and LA FIGHT CLUB fan favorite Pablo “The Shark” Rubio, Jr. (7-0, 3 KOs) fought opponent Michael Gaxiola (4-8), of Modesto, CA in a six-round super bantamweight fight. “The Shark” demonstrated his capacity to dominate the ring, throughout the fight by cornering Gaxiola during most rounds. It was during the third round in a series of heated punches that Rubio sustained a cut underneath his right eye from a head butt. Despite the setback, the judges all unanimously agreed that he was the stronger fighter, awarding him the victory of the fight.

“I agree with the judges’ decision and I am happy with my performance tonight,” said Rubio on his unanimous decision win. “I used my jabs and had a lot of movement, which is what I was working on in training camp for this fight. I noticed that I slowed down in the fifth round, however, I still kept my rhythm. My opponent was very technical and he didn’t throw any crazy punches, so I applaud him for a tough fight.”

Glendora, California’s Jousce Gonzalez (2-0, 2 KO) dazzled the crowd in a four-round super featherweight fight against David “Tito” Montes (0-4 KOs) of El Paso, TX, in which he landed a body shot at 1:26 in the first round, to add another knockout to his undefeated record.

“I prepared well for this fight and had great sparring partners in Alex Luna and my older brother Joet Gonzalez,” said Jousce Gonzalez. “I always train for double the amount of rounds and if the knock out comes during the fight, it comes. I’m ready for everything. I’m on fire and in the best shape of my life. I could fight tomorrow if needed.”

Kicking off this fight night with a four-round featherweight fight, Las Vegas’ Francisco “El Alacran” Esparza (3-0, 1 KO) faced Noe Munoz (2-2) of Ciudad Juarez. Ezparza wasted no time getting straight to business by landing a devastating right punch to Munoz’s face, effectively ending the bout by technical knockout in the first thirty seconds.

“I feel amazing,” said Esparza on his victory. “Going in to the fight, you never expect a knock out. I always prepare to go all four rounds. I hope to be back really quick, and I want to thank my team for the opportunity.”

Julian Ramirez – Abraham Lopez to open up Vargas – Salido show on June 4

According to Dan Rafael of espn.com, undefeated Featherweights Julian Ramirez and Abraham Lopez will be the televised co-feature to the much anticipated showdown between WBC Super Featherweight champion Francisco Vargas’defense against Orlando Salido at StubHub Center in Carson, California and on HBO.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya told ESPN.com on Monday that the rumored fight has been finalized.

“These are two of our young, undefeated kids and they fight in the same weight class as two of our other prospects in the same weight class,” De La Hoya said, referring to his nephew, Diego De La Hoya, and 2012 U.S. Olympian Joseph Diaz. “So, eventually, the winner will be facing off with one of those fighters. At some point we want to match them all up.”

“It’s an action fight,” De La Hoya said. “Both guys don’t how to take a step backwards. Both guys have good punching power. Both guys throw a lot of punches, so it should call for an exciting fight. Neither of these guys hesitated when we said we wanted to make this fight. We strongly feel with developing these kids in L.A., there’s a like a turf war going on. They want to prove they are the best in Los Angeles in that weight class and they will have the chance.”
