Decaire Decisions Mungia to keep World title shot hope alive

GATINEAU, QUEBEC, Canada (March 25, 2014) — French-Canadian welterweight contender Antonin Decarie (30-2, 9 KOs) remained on track for another world title shot as he overcame a serious cut to defeat former Mexican champion Pablo Munguia (20-4, 11 KOs) in last night’s (Friday, Mar. 29) main event in the seventh installment of the popular Fight Night Series, promoted by Eye of the Tiger Management, at Lac Leamy Casino in Gatineau, Ontario, Canada.

Fight Club Series aired live on pay-per-view in the United States, distributed by Integrated Sports Media on both cable and satellite pay-per-view via DIRECTV, iN Demand, DISH, and Avail-TVN. The event was also available to watch worldwide on PPV at www.PunchingGrace.com, the new hi-definition streaming network.

“We’re very pleased with the feedback and numbers we’ve already received from people in Canada who enjoyed watching the fights, especially those from Quebec because there so many familiar fighters in action,” EOTTM president Camille Estephan said. “We’ve also heard from people in America who watched on pay-per-view and those from all over the world who watched on Punching Grace. They said the fights were well matched and very entertaining. One of our own guys lost (Baha Laham) in what is an early candidate for Fight of the Year in Canada. It’s good for boxing.”

WBC #8 and IBF #13 rated Decarie (29-2, 9 KOs) suffered a cut eye at the end of the fifth round from an unintentional head-butt by southpaw Munguia. Despite being adversely effected by the flow of blood into his eye, Decarie emerged with a 10-round decision (98-92, 97-93, 96-94) over a game Munguia.

And the winner is…..Antonin Decaire

“Antonin fought a tough, awkward, physically strong opponent who kept coming forward,” Estephan commented. “After his loss to (Luis Carlos) Abregu there were some things missing, so we wanted Antonin to be exposed to a fighter like Munguia. This was a perfect fight for him and he passed the test for his third win in a row. He had to deal with a cut, too. He should be moving up in the ratings and is on the right path towards a world title fight.”

In the co-feature, southpaw Roody Pierre-Paul (9-1, 5 KOs) won a dominant 10-round decision (97-91, 97-91, 96-92) over Baha Laham (12-2-2, 5 KOs) for vacant WBC Continental Americas super featherweight title.

Haitian super middleweight prospect Schiller Hyppolite (9-1, 5 KOs) stopped Bahamian invader Jermain “Choo Choo” Mackey (18-8, 14 KOs), who was unable to continue after six rounds in a scheduled 10-round bout;

The professional debut of highly-touted Canadian amateur star, 18-year-old Steven Butler (1-0, 1 KO), was an overwhelming success as he registered a first-round technical knockout of Jean-Francois Plourde (2-0, 1 KO).

Butler, who had a 48-6 amateur record, was the youngest Canadian National Champion. He was a four-time winner in the Bronze Glove Tournament, as well as gold-medalist at the Silver Gloves, Adidas and Golden Gloves tournaments.

“Steven Butler is a blue-chip prospect,” Estephan added. “He has power and is a mean and vicious fighter. He has it all and is going to be a star.”

Also fighting on the undercard, super middleweight Francois “The Tank” Miville (7-1, 3 KOs) scored a first-round technical knockout victory against previously unbeaten Pascal Villeneuve (3-1, 2 KOs), super middleweight Mitch Louis-Charles (3-1-2, 2 KOs) and Guillaume Tremblay-Coude (2-0-1, 1 KO) fought to a four-round draw, cruiserweight Samer Baraket (3-0, 2 KOs) remained unbeaten by way of a first-round stoppage of Matt Hein (0-3), and heavyweight Steven Harvey (5-1, 2 KOs) took a close four-round decision (38-37 X 3) from Zack Bunce (2-0, 1 KO).

Eye of the Tiger Management Developing hidden jewels in Canada

MONTREAL (March 18, 2014) – Eye of the Tiger Management (EOTTM) has been developing world-class boxers in Canada the past few years and now, thanks to its hi-definition network (PunchingGrace.com) and popular Fight Night Series, American fight fans may watch top contenders and prospects from North of the Border before they fight on United States-based networks like HBO, Showtime and ESPN.

The seventh installment of the popular Fight Night Series will be Friday night, March 28, featuring World-rated welterweight Antonin Decarie (29-2, 9 KOs), also airing live on pay per view from Lac Leamy Casino in Gatineau, Ontario, Canada.

Fight Club Series, presented by Eye of the Tiger Management (EOTTM), is being distributed in the United States by Integrated Sports Media for live viewing at 7:00 p.m. ET – 4:00 p.m. PT on both cable and satellite pay-per-view via DIRECTV, iN Demand, DISH, and Avail-TVN. The event may also be watched worldwide on PPV at www.PunchingGrace.com.

“We’re giving our fighters opportunities to be seen fighting outside of Canada, through PunchingGrace and PPV in the US, by expanding our borders,” EOTTM promoter Camille Estephan explained. “Their fights will be available to watch in close to 70-million U.S. households alone.”

EOTTM heavyweight Bermane “B. Ware” Stiverne was virtually unknown in the U.S. until his last fight, in which he won a unanimous decision on HBO in convincing fashion against Chris Arreola. WBC #1 Stiverne and #2 Arreola will fight again May 10 on ESPN, at a site to be determined, for the WBC title vacated by retired Vitali Klitschko.

Stiverne’s stable-mate and fellow Haitian, junior welterweight Dierry “Dougy Style” Jean (25-1, 17 KOs), was introduced to the American public on ShoBox, which led to him challenging IBF world champion Lamont Peterson. Jean lost a 12-unanimous decision but proved that he belong among the elite 140-pounders in the world.

“People all over the world are going to know Bermane because of the exposure he’s going to get fighting on ESPN (not ESPN2 that Friday Night Fights is on), but the main ESPN station that shows professional football and other leading sporting events,” Estephan said. “He is fortunate to have that window of opportunity. He’s a heavyweight with power and balls who has the footwork of a lightweight. He’s deadly serious about what he’s doing. We don’t just want him to win the world heavyweight title, we want him to win and defend it many times. He’s not looking past Arreola and is preparing to fight him like they’ve never fought before. They’re the top two heavyweights in the world without a world title.

“Dierry Jean didn’t lose to Peterson because of his ability. Peterson was at his best, his experience and ability to adjust were the difference. Dierry will be fighting in late April, early May, on his way back to the top. He also has the advantage of being able to fight at junior welterweight or lightweight.”

WBC #8/IBF #13 Decarie burst on the American boxing scene on HBO, when he upset previously unbeaten Alex Perez, and the popular French-Canadian parlayed that into another high-profile appearance on HBO, albeit losing a 10-round decision to Luis Carlos Abregu.

Decarie faces former Mexican champion Pablo “Sepulturero” Munguia (19-4, 11 KOs) Mar. 28 in the 10-round main event.

The next EOTTM hidden jewel who most American boxing fans may not know yet is WBC #3/IBF #5 lightweight Ghislain “Mani” Maduma (16-0, 10 KOs), the reigning NABA and NABF champion. “Maduma is going to burst on the scene – the same show as Dierry fights – in an IBF eliminator,” Estephan noted. “People watching him fight are going to ask where this guy came from because he hasn’t fought on a major network yet. He is an awesome talent.”

The next wave of EOTTM fighters soon to be introduced to American fans include super middleweight Schiller Hyppolite (8-1, 5 KOs), who takes on George Beroshvili (8-1, 5 KOs) in a 10-round bout on Mar. 28.

“Schiller has tremendous talent and the super middleweight division is big in Canada having produced Lucian Bute, Jean Pascal and Adonis Stevenson,” Estephan concluded. “He learned from his only loss and had to make an attitude adjustment. Another fighter who is going to make big news is welterweight Mian Hussian. He has two brothers who are fighters and all they do is box – sleep, eat, train — and then do it all over again the next day. He has a lot of power, plus he’s fast and mean. All he lacks is experience. And don’t forget middleweight (IBF #8, WBO #11, WBC #13) David Lemieux (31-2, 29 KOs). He came up a little too fast but now he’s back and we’ll have some big news about him very soon. And we just signed Steven Butler, a promising 18-year-old who was the youngest Canadian National Team champion.”

Other Mar. 28 undercard fights include lightweight Chris Plaitis (5-0-1) vs. Jesus “Diamante” Perez (4-2, 2 KOs) in a six-round match; super middleweight Pascal Villeneuve (3-0, 2 KOs) vs. Francois “The Tank” Miville (6-1, 2 KOs) and Mitch Louis-Charles (3-1-1, 2 KOs) vs. Guillaume Coude (2-0, 1 KO), cruiserweight Samer Baraket (2-0, 2 KOs) vs. Sandy Pembroke (3-7, 1 KO), and heavyweight Zack Bunce (2-0, 1 KO) vs. Steven Harvey (4-1, 2 KOs) in four-round fights.

All fights and fighters are subject to change.

“We’re very excited to market Punching Grace and our fighters to 70-million potential households in the United States on all major cable and satellite outlets,” EOTTM president Camille Estephan said. “Our series is old school boxing in an intimate environment. Punching Grace brings real-life boxing to viewers. They’re close to the action in the ring, as well in the back area before and after fights.

“By airing our show in the US on pay per view, we are able to showcase our top fighters like Antonin Decarie, as well as build young fighters on our own network, in HD to a much larger audience. Rodriguez pounds Escalera in eight

Edwin Rodriguez remained perfect by administering a one-sided beat down of prebiously undefeated Edwin Escalera in round eight of a scheduled ten round Super Middleweight bout at the MGM at Foxwoods in Connecticut.

Rodriguez came out in round one pounding Escalera all over the ring. Escalera lost his mouth piece twice but it was the least of his problems as he ate about fifty power shots in the round and a case could have been made for referee Steve Smoger to intervene in the first stanza. Rodriguez continued to box and win round’s. Rodriguez went after Escalera in round four and drilled him with hard right in the fifth that buckled Escalera.

The rout continued until referee Steve Smoger stopped the drubbing twelve seconds into round eight.

Vic Darchinyan resurrected his career by scoring a ten round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Luis Del Valle in a Super Bantamweight fight.

Darchinyan proved that experience over Del Valle was a big factor as he pounded Del Valle for most of the thirty minute affair. Del Valle should get credit for determination but Darchinyan landed punches from all angles and to all parts of Del Valle. Del Valle made a brief rally in round nine when he landed a right that rocked Darchinyan.

Darchinyam of Sydney, Australia won by scores of 99-91, 99-91 and 96-94 and is now 38-5-1. Del Valle, 122 lbs of Bayamon, PR is now 16-1.

Antonin DeCarie scored a sixth round stoppage over Alex Perez in a scheduled ten round Welterweight bout.

DeCarie worked the body and head and was doing very well mixing up the punches. In round six, DeCarie landed a vicious left that wobbled Perez and a subsequent right hand put Perez down. Perez was shaken and ate about five more flush right hands that forced referee Danny Schivone to stop the bout at 2:54 of round six.

DeCarie, 147 lbs of Montreal is now 27-1 with eight knockouts. Perez, 146 lbs of Newark, NJ is now 16-1.

HBO’s BOXING AFTER DARK TRIPLE-HEADER “THE ROAD TO GLORY” WILL FEATURE EXCITING, UNDEFEATED WELTERWEIGHT PROSPECT ALEX “THE BRICK CITY BULLET” PEREZ VS. ANTONIN DECARIE FOR THE WBC INTERNATIONAL WELTERWEIGHT TITLE AND THE NABF WELTERWEIGHT TITLE ON HBO

NEWARK, NJ (September 27, 2012) Saturday night, September 29th, live from the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, CT, HBO Boxing After Dark will feature an exciting triple-header which will begin at 9:30PM with a bout between Alex “The Brick City Bullet” Perez and Antonin Decarie for Decarie’s WBC International Title and the vacant NABF Title. Many boxing insiders feel this match up can easily end up being the fight of the night.

Alex “The Brick City Bullet” Perez, 16-0, 9 KOs, is a tough and exciting fighter from Newark, NJ. Decarie, 26-1, 7 KOs, is also an action fighter, who has fought top competition and has been very successful. While neither fighter is a household name, both are top welterweights on the brink of stardom. When DiBella announced the fight he said, “It is a fight that people are legitimately excited about. Alex Perez is one of my best prospects and I think it’s going to be a great fight with Antonin Decarie.”

Since turning professional in 2004, Perez has experienced many ups and downs outside of the ring, but he has always trained hard and remained focused when in the ring under the tutelage of trainer/manager Jose Rosario. He is selective with his company and he travels with a small circle of close friends and family that form “Team Perez”. He is in the best shape of his life and is more than ready for Saturday, recently saying, “I always fight my heart out because I want to give my three sons a life that I always dreamed of and I also know my grandmother who passed away recently is watching over me.”

After an impressive amateur career, Alex successfully turned pro but was shot in the chest just weeks later. He recovered, returned to the sport and quickly found success back in the ring. However, just when things started to progress in his career again, Alex found himself looking at 30 years in prison while facing gun and aggravated assault charges. Perez, who prides himself on his faith and loyalty to his family and friends had that loyalty repaid when Danny Serratelli, a close friend who had trained with Perez since he was a teenager took the case pro bono. With the help of “Team Perez” the truth was brought to light and he was exonerated on all charges. At that point Perez returned to the ring with a vengeance and after picking up a couple of wins he signed with promoter Lou DiBella.

Since signing with Lou DiBella he feels that he has been given the opportunities that he may have lacked in the past and he is now on the fast track to the top of the 147 pound division. After his most recent unanimous decision victory over highly regarded Francisco “El Gato” Figueroa some people have finally started to take notice, but the fight with Decarie on HBO is the biggest of his career and he is ready to show the world who “The Brick City Bullet” is. The powerful and rangy southpaw has a crowd pleasing style and always comes to fight 110%. He is a difficult match up for any fighter and has served as the main sparring partner for champions such as Felix Sturm, Miguel Cotto, and most recently, Sergio Martinez.

The Canadian-born Antonin Decarie, is the #8 ranked WBC welterweight and holder of the WBC International welterweight title. Since turning professional in 2005, Decarie has only lost one bout, a 12 round decision to Souleymane M’baye for the interm WBA World welterweight title back in 2010. Since that lone loss, Decarie has won three straight fights, including his last victory over Victor Lupo Puiu for the WBC International welterweight title.

The event is promoted by DiBella Entertainment, in association with Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing and Gary Shaw Productions. All three bouts will be aired on HBO’s Boxing After Dark beginning at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased through the Foxwoods box office by calling 1 (800) 200-2882. Tickets are priced at $45, $75, $100 and $200. Further information on Alex “The Brick City Bullet” Perez can be found on www.Brickcityboxing.com

ALEX PEREZ-ANTONIN DECARIE REPLACES CHILEMBA-ERDEI ON SEPTEMBER 29TH HBO BOXING AFTER DARK

New York, NY (9/7/12) – On Wednesday, it was announced that the Isaac Chilemba-Zsolt Erdei fight, scheduled to open up the HBO Boxing After Dark telecast live from the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods® Resort Casino in Mashantucket, CT, on September 29, had been called off after Erdei suffered two broken ribs in sparring. The 10-round light heavyweight bout was one of the most highly anticipated bouts on the card, which made the cancellation that much more disappointing. Fortunately though, Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment, was able to find a replacement that has many boxing insiders and fans alike quite intrigued as welterweight contenders Alex Perez (16-0, 9KO’s) and Antonin Decarie (26-1, 7KO’s) are set to square off in a 10-round match. The bout will be for Decarie’s WBC International welterweight title. Clips of Chilemba’s bout will be shown on HBO.The card, entitled “Road to Glory”, is promoted by DiBella Entertainment, in association with Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing and Gary Shaw Productions. HBO will begin live coverage at 9:30PM.

“Anytime you lose a fight it’s an unfortunate situation, but when you lose one of this caliber it becomes even worse. Fortunately, we were able to find a replacement on very short notice, and not just any replacement, it is a fight that people are legitimately excited about,” said DiBella. “Alex Perez is one of my best prospects and I think it’s going to be a great fight with Antonin Decarie.”

The 30-year-old southpaw Perez had an impressive amateur career racking up 56 wins against just three losses and winning a New Jersey Golden Gloves Championship before turning pro in December 2004, scoring a first-round KO over Farrakhan Cuttino. Perez has had problems with his hands throughout his career resulting in stints of inactivity, including in 2007 when he was forced to sit on the sidelines for 15 months. Facing adversity is nothing new to Perez though. As an amateur, Perez was stabbed, and just three weeks after making his pro debut, he was shot in the chest. Perez, who has served as a lead sparring partner for world champions Sergio Martinez, Miguel Cotto and Felix Sturm, is coming off his two most impressive victories to date; a second-round TKO over Josh Sosa (10-1) in January and a 10-round unanimous decision over longtime contender Francisco “El Gato” Figueroa in March. Now Perez is set to see the bright lights of HBO for the first time when he squares off against the WBC #8-rated Decarie.

The Canadian-born Decarie has become a major attraction in Canada, having fought all but two of his professional fights there. The 29-year-old Decarie turned pro in 2005 and won his first title in 2008, decisioning previously unbeaten Brian Camechis to pick up the WBO NABO welterweight belt. Decarie grabbed the vacant WBC International title in his last bout, winning a dominant 12-round unanimous decision over Victor Lupo Puiu (19-1-2). Decarie’s lone defeat as a pro came against Souleymane M’baye in a bout that was for the interim WBA world welterweight championship.
