Boxing Insider Returns to Tropicana Atlantic City with Local Talent and Regional Prospects on November 7

Boxing Insider Promotions returns to Atlantic City with a professional boxing event on Friday, November 7, at the Tropicana Showroom. The 10-bout card starts at 6:30 p.m. and is headlined by Atlantic City native Justin “Mr. Atlantic City” Figueroa and also features Otto Wallin, Bruce Seldon Jr., Lia Lewandowski, and the Lugo brothers.

Justin Figueroa: “Mr Atlantic City” Justin Figueroa (13-0, 10 KOs), a local favorite, makes his fifth appearance at Tropicana. Fresh off a unanimous decision victory for the Junior NABF super welterweight title in August, Figueroa aims to build on his momentum in his hometown. He is matched for the bout, but officials are awaiting contracts before announcing the opponent.

Otto Wallin vs. Chris Thomas: Swedish heavyweight veteran Otto Wallin, who has faced Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, returns to Atlantic City for his third appearance. He meets New Jersey’s Chris Thomas in a 10-round heavyweight bout. Thomas, known for his power punching, seeks to make the most of this matchup.

Bruce Seldon Jr. vs. Jose Medina: Undefeated heavyweight Bruce Seldon Jr. (7-0, 6 KOs), son of former WBA heavyweight champion Bruce Seldon, faces Jose Medina (8-2, 3 KOs) in a scheduled six-round contest.

Lia Lewandowski vs. Chantal Sumrall: Berlin, N.J.’s Lia Lewandowski (2-0, 1 TKO), a 25-year-old flyweight trained by former pro Milton Davis at The Kennel gym in South Jersey, makes her third professional appearance. A graduate of Eastern Regional High School and Drexel University, she was once ranked fifth among U.S. female amateurs at 114 pounds.

Julio Sanchez III vs. Mike Randolph: Pleasantville’s Julio Sanchez III, a 22-year-old welterweight and former standout basketball player at Pleasantville High School and Coalinga College, competes under the guidance of his father and coach, Julio Sanchez Jr.

Prospect Matchups:

  • Elijah Lugo vs. Josue Silva: Featherweight Elijah Lugo, holder of 26 USA Boxing national titles and five international championships, continues his transition to the professional ranks.
  • Nathan Lugo vs. Diego Lablonski: Super middleweight Nathan Lugo (5-0, 5 KOs) from Marietta, Ga., debuted professionally in April 2024 after an amateur career that included 25 national titles and qualification for the 2022 U.S. Olympic Trials.
  • Yoel Angeloni vs. Brandon Diaz-Campos: 21-year-old Italian-Cuban southpaw welterweight Yoel Angeloni, who boasts a 140-2 amateur record, looks to advance his pro career.
  • Patrick O’Connor vs. Anthony Michael Trejo: Undefeated cruiserweight Patrick O’Connor (2-0), a 20-year-old former national champion from Waldorf, Md., trains at Oxon Hill Boxing Club.

Andy Dominguez Defeats Byron Rojas by Split Decision To Win WBC USA Silver Light Flyweight Title on Atlantic City

Andy Dominguez edged out Byron Rojas via 10-round split decision in an exciting toe-to-toe slugfest to win the WBC USA Junior Flyweight title to headline an entertaining card at the Tropicana Atlantic City.

The card was promoted by Boxing Insider Promotions.

The fight was fought at close quarters for the balance of the 30-minute affair. There were many instances of sustained action with each guy getting the better of the exchanges. Dominguez was able to work the body in an attempt to break down Rojas. That only seemed to urge on Rojas as he was able to land some hard combinations of his own.

The fight was on the table down the stretch with Dominguez surging ahead to win by scores of 97-93 and 96-94, while Rojas took a card 97-93.

The Las Vegas based Dominguez improves to 13-1. Rojas of Holland, Michigan via Nicaragua is 29-5-3.

Alex Martin won a eight-round unanimous decision over Daiyannn Butt in a junior welterweight bout.

Martin did well by countering well on the aggressive Butt. Martin was able to get his straight left going and land consistently. Butt did well in spurts, but it was not enough as Martin won by scores of 79-73, 78-74 and 77-75.

Martin of Chicago is now 19-8. Butt of Philadelphia is 20-3.

Bruce Seldon Jr. needed just 46 seconds to take Alexis Soriano Taveras out in a heavyweight bout.

Seldon landed a devastating left to the solar plexus to put Taveras down and out.

Seldon of Smithville, NJ is 7-0 with six knockouts. Taveras of The Dominican Republic is 3-3.

Roney Hines pounded out an eight-round unanimous decision over Ed Fountain in a heavyweight bout.

Hines of Cleveland won by scores of 80-72 twice and 79-73 and is now 15-0-1. Fountain of St. Louis is 14-10.

Julio Sanchez III scored a stoppage over Alexander Stone after three rounds of their lightweight bout.

Sanchez was dominant and caused a cut around the right eye of Stone in round three.

Sanchez of Pleasantville, NJ is now 2-1 with one stoppage. Stone of Jackson, TN is 1-6-1.

Rising heavyweight prospect Bruce Seldon Jr. looks to keep his perfect record in tact when he enters the squared circle against seven fight veteran Julio Mendoza (3-4, 2 KO’s) this Saturday in Atlantic City.

Seldon Jr., who turned professional without any amateur fights, is one of the busiest Heavyweights out there as he steps into the ring for the 4th time in 5 months as a professional.

Seldon Jr., the son of former WBA Heavyweight Champion Bruce Seldon, turned pro on June 15th with a first round knockout of Terrick Maven. The power punching prospect has followed that up two more decisive knockouts to up his record to 3-0, 3 KO’s.

The durable Mendoza, fighting out of Palm Crest, Florida owns a TKO victory over 3-1 Desmond Thompson. He has fought an array of prospects and has only been stopped once (his pro debut) in 7 fights.

The main event will feature former lineal world heavyweight title challenger Otto Wallin (26-2, 15 KOs) of New York via Sweden take on Onoriode Ehwarieme (20-4, 19 KOs) of Miami in a eight-round battle of big punching heavyweights.

The undercard will be filled with local and undefeated fighters.

In a six-round bout, undefeated Atlantic City native, Justin Figueroa (9-0, 7 KOs) fights Victor Mendoza Arreola (4-1, 2 KO) of Colorado Springs, Colorado in a junior middleweight bout.

19-time National Amateur champion Marco Romero (1-0, 1 KO) of Kansas City fights Victor Pradis (2-0) of Covington, Louisiana in a scrap of undefeated super middleweights.

Stacia Suttles of the Bronx will make her pro debut against Kalindria Faria (1-1) of Sao Paulo, Brazil in a four-round lightweight bout.
