Tampa, FL (August 17, 2023) – NABA middleweight champion Connor “The Kid” Coyle looks for his 20th win in as many fights when he battles 17-1 Joey Bryant of Memphis, TN Saturday evening at The Blind Tiger in Biloxi, MS.

Training out of Pinellas Park, FL under Florida Boxing Hall of Famer Jim McLaughlin and residing in Derry, Northern Ireland, Saturday’s showdown with Bryant will be Coyle’s third title defense. The 33-year-old Coyle is 19-0 with 8 knockouts and ranked #6 by the WBA.
If all goes according to plan versus Bryant, Coyle’s sights are set on fighting one of the champions or top contenders at 160 pounds.

“I’m excited to get back in the ring Saturday evening,” said Coyle. “I appreciate (promoter) Jody Caliguire and my team for putting this fight together. We’re expecting to be 20-0 after Saturday night and announce a fight with a top middleweight in the very near future.”

St. Petersburg, FL (May 1, 2023) – Connor “The Kid” Coyle retained his NABA middleweight championship following a ten round beatdown of Argentina’s Christian Fabian Rios Saturday, April 29 at the Hilton Carillon in St. Petersburg, FL.

Headlining Reyes Fire Fist Boxing’s “Fire on the Bay,” Coyle had a strong opening round, landing hard jabs and thudding body shots. Supported by a loud cheering section, the Derry, Northern Ireland native delivered round after round, peppering Rios with clean punches. Rios was hurt on a few occasions but displayed a tremendous chin and finished the fight on his feet.

Scores were 100-90 on all three scorecards.

With the victory, Coyle improves to 19-0 with 8 knockouts. Rios, who has only been stopped once, slips to 23-18-3 with 7 wins by KO.

“We knew he was a tough guy – he took David Lemieux and Esquiva Falcao the distance,” said Coyle. “I paced myself and landed well-placed punches. That was our gameplan coming into this fight. I did hit him with a lot of solid shots, so I’ve got to give Rios credit for how game he was.”

Coyle, the WBA’s #4 ranked middleweight, believes a showdown with #3 rated Austin “Ammo” Williams is on the horizon.

“We’re the most active middleweights in the rankings. There’s been talk of us fighting but nothing came to fruition so far. I believe he’s fighting again in June so if he handles business, we could hopefully fight in an eliminator or for a world title later this year.”

Coyle’s promoter, Jody Caliguire of Reyes Fire Fist Boxing Promotions, was pleased as well and also envisions a fight with Williams in the near future.

“Connor did a great job tonight – he battered Rios and won all ten rounds. Rios has been in with a ton of world class fighters and always goes the distance so kudos to him for his toughness. I anticipate Connor moving up in the WBA rankings and I know Williams is also ranked highly so we’re ready to make it happen for the number 1 contender spot or a vacant title if Erislandy Lara vacates.”

St. Petersburg’s Joseph Fernandez became the NABA junior welterweight champion with an emphatic fourth round stoppage of Marqus Bates. Bates got off to a solid start, but Fernandez rocked the Taunton, MA native with a head shot in round three.

In the fourth, Fernandez scored a hard knockdown via a picturesque left hook. Bates was game and made it back to his feet but was clearly shaken up. Fernandez closed the show moments later by rocking Bates, who was out on his feet when the fight was stopped at 1:41.

?Fernandez’ professional ledger improves to 16-5-3 with 6 KO’s. Bates is 11-6 (8 KO’s).

Silva wasted little time against Luque

Lightweight contender Willian “Babyface” Silva of Brazil demolished Diego Gonzalo Luque in the opening round. Silva connected with hard shots shortly after the opening bell and rocked Luque with an uppercut. Luque retreated to the ropes and Silva teed off until the bout was stopped at 2:21.

?Silva, who trains in Florida, is 30-4 with 18 KO’s. Luque, a native of Argentina, falls to 21-12-2 (10 KO’s).

“Silva’s a different fighter since returning to the lightweight division (trainer) Jim McLaughlin’s done a great job refining Willian’s style,” said Caliguire. “Luque went 4 rounds with Brandun Lee earlier this year, he’d gone the distance with Jack Catterall and Mikael Zewski among others. I believe a big fight for Silva will come in the near future.”

Light heavyweight Imran Haddabah won the NBA Americas title via first round knockout of Scott Lampert. The heavy-handed Haddabah, a crowd favorite in the Tampa Bay region, scored two knockdowns, ending Lampert’s night after a wicked right hand at 2 minutes and 32 seconds.

?Haddabah of St. Petersburg improved to 9-0 (7 KO’s) while Lampert of Dover Plains, NY falls to 5-8 (4 KO’s).

Pinellas Park, FL (September 30, 2022) – NABA middleweight champion Connor “The Kid” Coyle wrapped up training and is headed to London for his highly-anticipated October 8 showdown against Felix Cash at the O2 Arena.

Under the watchful eye of Florida Boxing Hall of Fame trainer Jim McLaughlin, Coyle started camp in early August, then fought September 17 in Tampa, FL, winning an eight round unanimous decision. Following his victory, Coyle returned to the gym and focused on the game plan to defeat Cash, who’s 15-0 with 10 knockouts.

“Felix is a skilled and highly rated fighter, so we’ve been working on specific things to get ready the moment we knew about this fight,” said Coyle, who owns a perfect 17-0 record with 7 KO’s. “I expect he’ll bring out the best of me because this is a huge fight. We’ve put a plan together that’ll work to our advantage and take my career to the next level.”

The 9^th rated middleweight by the WBA, Coyle also faced an unexpected challenge from Mother Nature earlier this week when Hurricane Ian tore through Florida.

“I’d never seen a hurricane before because we don’t get storms like

this at home,” said Coyle, who is from Derry, Northern Ireland.

“There were trees that tore out of the ground and landed on houses a few doors down here in Pinellas Park, so we were very lucky to have no damage or any interruptions in training. My thoughts are with everybody in Florida impacted by Hurricane Ian.”

The ten round showdown will air live at 2 PM ET on DAZN and on DAZN PPV in England and Ireland. Coyle-Cash is the ten round co-main event to the grudge match between Chris Eubank Jr. and Connor Benn.

Pinellas Park, FL (September 23, 2022) – Irish sensation Connor “The Kid” Coyle will meet fellow unbeaten middleweight Felix Cash in a ten round contest for the WBA Intercontinental title Saturday, October 8 at the sold-out O2 Arena in London.

Coyle-Cash will be broadcast live DAZN and on DAZN PPV in the UK and Ireland. This exciting matchup serves as the co-feature to the grudge match between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn.

The reigning NABA middleweight champion, Coyle’s 17-0 with 7 victories by knockout. Ranked 9^th in the world by the WBA, Coyle resides in Derry, Northern Ireland but trains out of Pinellas Park, FL. On September 17, the 32-year-old dominated veteran Silverio Ortiz over eight rounds. Prior to that, he scored a spirited ten round decision against Antonio Todd to capture the NABA title.

Hailing from Berkshire, United Kingdom, Cash is 15-0 with 10 KO’s. On February 12, Cash won the WBC International middleweight title by defeating previously unbeaten Magomed Madiev via ten round decision. The 29-year-old also owns impressive victories against then-undefeated Denzel Bentley via third round stoppage and Jack Cullen, who Cash halted in the 8^th. The highly regarded Cash is ranked 4^th by the WBO, 10^th by the IBF, 12^th by the WBA.

Tampa, FL (May 2, 2022) – Like most who love the sweet science, undefeated middleweight Connor “The Kid” Coyle was fully engaged in the Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano fight.

Recognized as the biggest in women’s boxing history, Taylor-Serrano took place in front more than 19,000 fans at a sold out Madison Square Garden. It was the first time a female fight headlined at The Mecca of Boxing.

Following four fast-paced and competitive rounds, Serrano rocked Taylor in the fifth with a left hook followed by a left cross. Taylor was in bad shape and nearly tasted the canvas for the first time in her career but managed to finish the round on her feet.

Serrano kept the momentum over the next few rounds as she appeared to be headed towards the biggest win of her great career. Taylor impressively turned the tides in the final three rounds of the contest, finding her second wind and outfighting Serrano en route to a split decision victory.

“What an incredible fight that was – major credit to both women” said Coyle, who trained with Taylor in Dublin when both were amateurs. “Katie really had to overcome a lot of adversity against Serrano especially in the fifth round. Katie showed incredible heart and came through like a champion. She’s a true warrior and great inspiration for me heading into the most important fight of my career.”

Coyle, 15-0 (7 KO’s), meets Antonio Todd in a ten round contest for the NABA middleweight title Saturday, May 21 at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, FL. Coyle-Todd airs live on Bally Sports Network as part of the Entrobox Championship Boxing Series at 9 pm et.
