SAN ANTONIO – February 8, 2023 – A lineup of talented fighters, including a former titleholder, Olympic bronze medalist, Pan American gold medalist and a highly touted prospect in his pro debut, will highlight a four-bout streaming presentation on the SHOWTIME SPORTS YouTube channel and SHOWTIME Boxing Facebook page this Saturday, February 11 in a Premier Boxing Champions event from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

The SHOWTIME BOXING COUNTDOWN show, which will be hosted by Luke Thomas, one-half of the award-winning MORNING KOMBAT live digital talk show, starts at 6:45 p.m. ET/3:45 p.m. PT and is topped by former titleholder Claudio Marrero battling Las Vegas’ Gonzalo Fuenzalida in an eight-round lightweight bout. Unbeaten Filipino Olympic bronze medalist Eumir Marcial will take on veteran Ricardo Villalba in an eight-round middleweight scrap.

Additionally, the heavy-handed heavyweight Dainier Peró, younger brother of unbeaten Lenier Peró, will clash with Daniel Zavala over four rounds, while blue-chip prospect David Whitmire makes his pro debut against Texan Keith Foreman in a four-round super welterweight duel.

The live streaming fights will precede the SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING^® telecast at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT headlined by two-division world champion Rey Vargas battling top contender O’Shaquie Foster for the vacant WBC Super Featherweight World Championship.

A native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Marrero (26-5, 18 KOs) enters the fight having won back-to-back contests, including most recently earning a decision victory over the then-unbeaten Viktor Slavinskyi in February 2022. The 33-year-old owns impressive first-round knockouts of previously unbeaten contenders Carlos Zambrano and Jorge Lara and also a stoppage of former champion Rico Ramos in three rounds. His win over Zambrano earned him the Interim WBA Featherweight Title. He will be opposed by the 26-year-old Fuenzalida (12-1, 3 KOs) who is originally from Chile but now fights out of Las Vegas. Fuenzalida has won seven-straight bouts heading into Saturday night, including a successful U.S. debut in September of last year that saw him defeat Joseph Francisco.

Marcial (3-0, 1 KO) won a bronze medal at the 2020 Olympics representing his native Philippines and has had all three of his pro fights take place stateside. The 27-year-old showed his power in an April clash against Isiah Hart, rising off the canvas to stop his opponent in round four. Most recently, Marcial went six rounds for the first time as a pro, earning a unanimous decision over Steven Pichardo last October. He duels Argentina’s Villalba (20-7-1, 8 KOs), who dropped his U.S. debut in December via decision against the unbeaten prospect Micky Scala.

The younger brother of fellow Cuban standout Lenier, Pero (2-0, 2 KOs) now resides in Miami, Fla., and turned pro in December 2022 with a first-round KO of Deane Williams. The 23-year-old followed that up with another first-round stoppage, as he blasted out Benjerman Baker on January 14. He takes on the Del Rio, Texas-native Zavala (2-1-2), who fought five times in 2022 after turning pro in February. The 32-year-old most recently dropped a majority decision to the unbeaten Rudy Silvas in December.

A 17-year-old phenom set to turn pro after a strong amateur career, Whitmire is trained by former veteran title contender Andrew Council. The Washington, D.C. native earned the “Bodysnatcher” moniker during his amateur run and will look to impress in his first pro fight. He’ll battle the Waco, Texas born Foreman (0-0, 1 NC) who turned pro last September in a fight that was later ruled a no-decision.

The non-televised undercard will also include unbeaten prospect Fabian Diaz (3-0, 1 KO) in a four-round lightweight duel against Eleazar Mendietta (0-1), plus the four-round pro debuts of two light heavyweight San Antonio-natives as Manuel Sifuentes takes on Mexico’s Jesus Aguilar (0-1) while James Wohlschlegel faces Daniel Heinen (0-1).

LAS VEGAS (April 6, 2022) – Super welterweight contender Jamontay Clark will duel Aaron Coley in an eight-round showdown highlighting the non-televised undercard this Saturday, April 9 in a Premier Boxing Champions event from the Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, part of Curio Collection by Hilton.

Also in action, 2020 Philippine Olympian Eumir Marcial returns to the ring to take on Isiah Hart in a four-round middleweight affair.

The event is headlined by a SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING tripleheader that will see top 154-pound contenders Erickson “Hammer” Lubin and Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora meet for the WBC Super Welterweight Interim Title in the main event. The action on SHOWTIME begins at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT and also features former super welterweight world champion Tony “Superbad” Harrison taking on highly regarded contender Sergio Garcia in the 10-round co-main event, plus unbeaten super welterweight Kevin Salgado battling Bryant Perrella in the 10-round telecast opener

Rounding out the card is super bantamweight prospect Alberto Gonzalez (1-0) in a four-round fight against Daniel Alegre (1-0, 1 KO) and the pro debut of super bantamweight Xavier Bocanegra in a four-round bout taking on Jose Ramirez (1-1, 1 KO).

The 27-year-old Clark (15-2-1, 7 KOs) will return to the ring looking to bounce back from a March 2021 defeat against U.S. Olympian Terrell Gausha. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Clark won his first 13 pro fights, including impressive victories over Ivan Golub and Domonique Dolton. Clark also owns a split-draw against unbeaten contender Sebastian Fundora in a 2019 action fight. He will be challenged by the Hayward, California native Coley (16-3-1, 7 KOs), who most recently lost a split-decision against Vladimir Hernandez in July 2020. Coley won six-straight fights after his first loss and overall has won seven of his last nine fights.

Fresh off his run to the semifinals representing the Philippines during the Olympic tournament in Tokyo, Marcial (1-0) steps back into action for his second pro fight on April 9. In addition to making the Olympics, Marcial had a decorated amateur career that included gold medal wins in the India Open, the Korotkov Memorial Tournament, the Ulaanbaatar Cup and the Southeast Asian Games. Prior to the Olympics, Marcial had a successful pro debut in December 2020, beating Andrew Whitfield by decision. He will take on the 30-year-old Hart (6-2-1, 4 KOs), who fights out of Mays Landing, New Jersey and went 1-1 in 2021, stopping Ernesto Cardona Sanchez before losing to Francis Hogan.

Eimantis Stanionis remained perfect by stopping Jamer Gonzalez in round nine of their scheduled 10-round welterweight bout at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

In round two, Stanionis dropped Gonzalez with a left.

In round eight, it was a right hand that sent Gonzalez down for a 2nd time. Stanionis finished off Gonzalez in the next frame when he landed a booming overhand right that sent Gonzalez down and the fight was waved off at the 45 second mark.

Stanionis, 148.6 lbs of Lithuania is now 12-0 with nine knockouts. Gonzalez, 149 lbs of Barranquilla, COL is 19-4-1.

Marcial Decisions Whitfield in Debut

Eumir Marcial made a successful pro debut with a four-round unanimous decision over Andrew Whitfield in a middleweight bout.

Marcia landed 120 of 310 punches; Whitfield was 49 of 273.

Marcial, 162.4 lbs of The Philippines won by scores of 40-36 on all cards and is now 1-0. Whitfield, 165.8 lbs of Redding, CA is 3-2.

Molina Decisions Alonso

In a battle of undefeated lightweights, Fernando Molina won a six-round unanimous decision over Teodoro Alonso.

Molina landed of 79 of 259 punches; Alonso was 59 of 333.

Molina, 135.2 lbs of Guadalajara, MX won by scores of 60-54 twice and 59-55 and is now 4-0. Alonso, 135 lbs of Los Angeles, CA is 3-3.

Perez Stops Garcia in 4!!

Jose Perez stopped Jose Edgardo Garcia in round four of a scheduled eight-round featherweight bout.

Perez dropped Garcia with a hard right and the fight was stopped at 39 seconds of round four.

Perez, 124 lbs of Gardena, CA is 9-1-1 with four knockouts. Garcia, 124.4 lbs of Houston, TX is 13-1-2.
