RICHIE RIVERA SECURES 25TH VICTORY WITH FIRST ROUND TKO IN COLOMBIA

White Plains, NY (July 24, 2023) — Star Boxing kept busy over the weekend as top world rated light heavyweight RICHIE “POPEYE THE SAILOR MAN RIVERA (now 25-1 19KO’s) and cruiserweight LYUBOMYR “DEMOLITION MAN” PINCHUK (now 14-4-2 8KO’s) laced up the gloves in separate shows from different parts of the globe.

Richie Rivera in Colombia

In Malambo Colombia, Richie Rivera took on Yuri Mendez in a scheduled 10-round light heavyweight bout, in which Rivera wasted no time slugging away at the outgunned Mendez. A thudding body shot just 54 seconds into round number one, sent Mendez to the canvas, where he remained forcing referee Leonel Mercado to wave off the action. With the TKO victory, Richie Rivera, who is currently world rated #6 (WBA), #6 (WBO – at cruiserweight), #8 (WBC), #11 (IBF), 8 (WBC), improved to 25-1 with 19 wins coming by way of knockout. Rivers is looking ahead to a significant fight that will lead him to a world championship opportunity  in the very near future.

Lyubomry Pinchuk in Pennsylvania

Simultaneously in Washington, Pennsylvania, another  “Summer Slugfest” was presented as Star Boxing’s Lyubomyr Pinchuk went to battle with Anthony Holloway over a competitive 8-round cruiserweight bout. Both men remained active over the course of the bout, with Pinchuk seemingly getting the better of most exchanges. While Holloway had his moments in the bout, Pinchuk’s ring generalship dictated the fight. To the surprise of many in attendance, the bout was declared a draw. 79-72 Pinchuk, 75-77 Holloway, 76-76 draw. Pinchuk is now 14-4-2 8KO’s.

WBC CONTINENTAL AMERICA’S AND NABA GOLD CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION SIMONE “TYSON” FEDERICI RETURNS FEBRUARY 5TH IN GENOA, ITALY

Genoa, Italy (February 1, 2023) – WBC Continental America’s and NABA Gold Cruiserweight Champion, The Italian Tank, SIMONE “TYSON” FEDERICI (Lazio, Italy, 19-2-1 8KO’s) will get the ball rolling on his 2023 campaign on February 5, in Genoa, Italy. The #17 world rated (WBC) Cruiserweight makes his return coming off a thrilling main event unanimous decision victory in April against Star Boxing stablemate, LYUBOMYR “DEMOLITION MAN” PINCHUK (then 14-3-1 8KO’s) at Rivers Casino in Schenectady, NY. Federici, who was sidelined after the Pinchuk victory due to a hand injury, is eager and ready to get back in the ring.

Prior to earning the WBC and NABA Gold Titles, Federici was no stranger to the gold, having held the IBF Mediterranean and Federazione Pugilistica Italian National Titles. His marquee victory occurred when he traveled to New York to face, STIVENS BUJAJ (then 17-2-1 11KO’s) in his backyard, at Star Boxing’s acclaimed “Rockin’ Fights” series at The Paramount. Federici’s mounting pressure and continuous work rate over the 10-round bout earned him the unanimous decision victory, as well as the WBC Continental America’s Cruiserweight Championship.

Simone will be featured in his native Italy in a 10 round cruiserweight bout against heavy handed Georgian, LEVANI LUKHUTASHVILI (Mestia, Georgia, 10-12 9KO’s). Lukhutashvili is not to be taken lightly, having recently challenged for the WBF International Cruiserweight Title and four of his last seven opponents were undefeated.

Simone had this to say about the fight, “This is an important match for me in Italy to get ready to climb the WBC ratings. After this victory I want to be back in New York defending my WBC Continental and NABA Gold Titles. My dream is to face Makabu for the WBC Cruiserweight World Title in New York. I feel good and want to thank my Uncle Franco, Armando and Boris Viale of Scuderia Italia, as well as Star Boxing and manager Luigi Camputaro. Starting Sunday against Levan begins the countdown to fighting for a world championship.”

“We named Simone the Italian Tank for good reason. He is an exciting fighter who never stops coming forward and throwing punches,” said Star Boxing CEO JOE DEGUARDIA. “We expect a big year for Simone and know that February 5 will be yet another notch in the belt towards challenging the top cruiserweights in the world.”

FEDERICI OUTPOINTS PINCHUK IN A THRILLING WBC CA and NABA GOLD CRUISERWEIGHT MAIN EVENT AT RIVERS CASINO BROWNE and O’ROURKE SHINE IN THEIR USA DEBUT

Schenectady, NY (April 11, 2022) — Championship boxing was in the limelight in Schenectady at Rivers Casino Saturday night, as SIMONE “TYSON” FEDERICI (now, 19-2-1 8KO’s) unified the WBC CA and NABA Gold Cruiserweight Titles outpointing Pittsburgh’s, LYUBOMYR “DEMOLITION MAN” PINCHUK (now, 14-3-1 8KO’s) in an absolutely thrilling main event.

The opening round had the packed crowd on their feet as Federici and Pinchuk came out swinging, looking to establish their respective game plans. Federici began to find success working on the inside, putting efficient punches together with quality speed forcing Pinchuk to work off the back foot. Pinchuk would respond with combinations to the body, attempting to utilize the jab to keep the Italian tank, Federici, at a distance. As the battle of wills continued an accidental clash of heads with a minute left in the fourth round caused a gash over the eye of Federici. Knowing what was on the line both fighters maintained an impressive work rate over the 10-rounds, however it seemed to be Federici’s ability to bully his way inside that would make the difference. The judges saw it in favor of Federici by unanimous decision, who successfully defended his WBC CA title, and became the new NABA Gold Champion (99-91, 97-93 2x).

In 8 rounds of action, Ireland’s, “SUPERFLY” TONY BROWNE (now, 5-1) was successful in his US debut against the tough LEANDRO “APOLLO” SILVA (now, 3-6 2KO’s). Silva came out of the gate looking to control the action, while Browne effectively countered his aggression. In the 5th round, Silva buzzed Browne with an overhand right, but Browne was able to shake it off and power on. Silva kept coming forward trying to find a way in, but Browne continued to successfully work from the outside. Browne would take home the unanimous decision in his US debut (77-75, 78-76, 79-75)

Also making his US debut, 22 year old Irish product, “THE SILENT ASSASIN” RYAN O’ROURKE (now, 8-1 1KO) defeated Frenchman, FAYCAL REZKALLAH (now, 6-2-1 1KO) over 6 rounds. The Schenectady crowd was “oohing” and “ahing” as O’Rourke was landing from impressive angles. While O’Rourke controlled the pace of the fight, Rezkallah had his moments, waiting for O’Rourke to take a beat, before returning the favor in the form of multi punch combinations. O’Rourke’s early work to the body paid dividends in rounds five and six, hurting Rezkallah. The fight would find the final bell, and Ryan O’Rourke would earn the clean sweep on the cards for the unanimous decision victory (60-54 3x).

In the opening bout of the evening MICHELLE COOK (now, 2-3-2) and LIZ TUANI (now, 1-7) impressed in a competitive battle. Tuani came out swinging with force, but Cook was able to weather the storm. Late in the 3rd round, Cook found a home for her right hand knocking Tuani on her heels. At the close of the fight, Cook would get the nod by unanimous decision (39-37 X3)

“The fans came out early and stayed late for a thrilling night of fights at Rivers Casino,” said Star Boxing CEO JOE DEGUARDIA. “Federici and Pinchuk put on one hell of a show, and left it all in the ring – both should be proud. Congratulations to Simone on the victory, and Tony Browne and Ryan O’Rourke for shining in their US debuts.”

FEDERICIPINCHUK APRIL 9 MAIN EVENTCRUISERWEIGHT TITLE COLLISION AT RIVERS CASINO

Schenectady, NY (March 30, 2022) – On Saturday, April 9, Italy based WBC CA Champion SIMONE “TYSON” FEDERICI (Lazio, Italy 18-2-1 8KO’s) will put his title on the line against Pittsburgh based and NABA Gold Champion LYUBOMYR “THE DEMOLITION MAN” PINCHUK (Pittsburgh, PA by way of Ukraine, 14-8-2 8KO’s) who will also put his title on the line in a winner take all cruiserweight title collision.

In November of 2019, Federici made the trip to New York to fight Stivens Bujaj for the WBC Continental America’s Cruiserweight title at Star Boxing’s “Rockin’ Fights.” Federici pressed the action, coming forward for nearly the entire fight. At the close of the 10-round contest, Federici would defeat Bujaj by unanimous decision and return home to Italy with the belt. (98-92, 97-93 x2). Federici now returns to New York after two stay busy victories in Italy, looking to defend his belt, and climb the cruiserweight rankings.

Pinchuk earned his NABA Gold title by defeating Mario Flores by unanimous decision on the undercard of his Star Boxing stablemate JOE SMITH JR.’s (28-3 22KO’s) recent WBO World Light Heavyweight Title defense at Turning Stone this past January. Pinchuk put his punches together and used a sticking jab as well as his height advantage to keep Flores at bay, and return to Pittsburgh with the title.

Star Boxing CEO JOE DEGUARDIA had this to say about the main event, “This main event has both international allure and important world ratings at stake. Both Federici and Pinchuk have a lot on the line and their styles should matchup to create a thrilling main event on April 9.”

When Federici and Pinchuk clash on April 9 at Rivers Casino, not only will two cruiserweight belts be on the line but a significant world ranking will be at stake. Professional championship boxing takes center stage at Rivers Casino in what should be an electric main event and exciting fight card.

Smith Stops Geffrard in 9; Retains Light Heavyweight Title

Joe Smith Jr. retained the WBO Light Heavyweight title with a 9th round stoppage over late-replacement Steve Geffrard at The Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York.

Smith dominated the action by landing power shots to back up Geffrard. Geffrard showed little resistance, but was able to hang around and last rounds by moving a little bit. He spent most of his time eating hard shots on the ropes.

in round nine, Smith threw a quick 15-punch flurry that put Geffrard down for the 10-count just as his corner was stopping the fight at 37 seconds.

Smith, 174 1/4 lbs of Long Island, NY is 28-3 with 22 knockouts. Geffrard, 173.5 lbs of Delray Beach, FL 18-3.

Smith said, “He really brought it today. It was a great fight. As you can see, he’s a great boxer, a good survivor. I was trying to get him out of there early, but I realized he was very tough and I wasn’t going to be able to do that. I tried to wait until the later rounds and started throwing more combinations to pick him apart.

“{Beterbiev} is what I want. I want to get back in the gym, work on my craft, and like I say each and every time I get in the ring, I’m going to get better and better. I believe the next time you see me, I’ll be ready for anybody.

“If Canelo wants to come to 175 and fight me, I’m ready for him. That’s the fight I want. Everybody would love to see that fight. It would be a big deal.”

Nova Stops Encarnacion in 8

Abraham Nova made his featherweight debut with an 8th round stoppage over William Encarnacion.

Nova dominated the action as he landed some solid body punches early. Nova began to take his work work upstairs and started to wobble Encarnacion in round six through the rest of the fight, which was stopped at 55 of round eight after a big flurry of punches.

Nova, 126 3/4 lbs of Albany, NY is 21-0 with 15 knockouts. Encarnacion, 127 lbs of The Dominican Republic is 19-2.

Nova said, “It feels good to fight close to home a day after my birthday. I had a tricky opponent in front of me, but I got the job done.

“I want {WBO world champion Emanuel Navarrete}, to be honest. Everybody thinks he’ll blow me out. Put him in there. Let’s see if he’ll do it. I know I’ll beat him. I know I have the punch output, I know I’ll knock him out, and I know I’ll be the next WBO champion.”

Omar Rosario celebrated his 24th birthday with a six-round unanimous decision over Rawkwon Butler in a junior welterweight fight.

In round six, Butler was bleeding from his nose.

PITTSBURGH BASED UKRAINIAN LYUBOMYR PINCHUK SET TO CHALLENGE FOR THE VACANT NABA GOLD CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE AGAINST JOSE MARIO FLORES

Verona, New York (January 3, 2022)

Star Boxing is pleased to announce an NABA Gold Cruiserweight Title bout addition to the Joe Smith Jr. vs Callum Johnson undercard on January 15 at Turning Stone.

25-year-old Pittsburgh based Ukrainian, LYUBOMYR “THE DEMOLITION MAN” PINCHUK (13-2-1 8KO’s) is set to challenge for the vacant NABA Gold Cruiserweight Title against Virginia product JOSE MARIO “BAZOOKA” FLORES (8-2-2 4KO’s) in a 10-round title bout. Pinchuk was most notably seen on Ring City USA against rising undefeated American heavyweight STEPHAN “BIG SHOT” SHAW (15-0 11KO’S). Pinchuk moved up to heavyweight for the bout and brought the fight to Shaw over a tough 8-rounds. While falling short, Pinchuk used this opportunity as a learning experience and would return to his natural cruiserweight division in dominating fashion, just months later, with a TKO victory over Andrew Satterfield in his hometown of Pittsburgh.

“I’m very excited to be back to the ring” said Pinchuk. “Especially starting 2022 with a fight in the cruiserweight division, on such a big world title card. Thank you to everyone who was with me and supporting me during this whole time. Can’t wait for what the remainder of the year holds for us!”

“Lyubo has no fear” said Pinchuk’s trainer Mike McSorley, owner of The Conn-Greb Boxing Club in Pittsburgh, PA. “He’s never turned down a fight since turning pro. Not one. He has no sense of entitlement; he is always on time and gives 100%. He is back where he belongs at cruiserweight and he can beat anyone in the division right now.”

Jose Mario “Bazooka” Flores resides in Woodbridge, Virginia and has never shied away from a challenge. The eleven-year professional had his marquee moment when he upset undefeated ARMANDO PINA (then 16-0 11KO’s) in Indiana. Flores would return a few months later for the first time in New York where he would drop a close decision to undefeated JOSEPH “MACK WILLIAMS (then 12-0 8KO’s).

The action will prelude the highly anticipated main event between the “Common Man,” JOE SMITH JR. (27-3 21KO’s), in his first WBO World Championship defense against power punching, UK based light heavyweight, CALLUM JOHNSON (20-1 14KO’s).

Star Boxing CEO JOE DEGUARDIA had this to say about Pinchuk-Flores, “We are very excited to secure this opportunity on a card of this magnitude for Lyubomyr to showcase his abilities. He is extremely tough and entertaining fighter who is back at his natural weight. Fans are in for a treat on January 15, first with Lyubomyr on the undercard and certainly when Joe Smith Jr. makes his first world title defense in the main event.”

SMITH-JOHNSON and PINCHUK-FLORES are promoted by Top Rank in association with Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing. Follow the action on social media by using #SmithJohnson and #PinchukFlores.
