OCTOBER 1ST “ROCKIN’ FIGHTS” 43 CARD ANNOUNCED:

Long Island, NY (August 15, 2022)– Tickets have already begun to fly for the eagerly anticipated “Rockin’ Fights” 43 as the October 1st Paramount date is officially on the books.   Star Boxing is now pleased to announce the full fight card.

10-rounds of cruiserweight action separates Ukrainian born, Pittsburgh residing, LYUBOMYR “DEMOLITION MAN” PINCHUK (Pittsburgh, PA by way of Ukraine, 14-3 8KO’s) and Brooklyn’s JOEL “SHOTGUN” SHOJGREEN (Brooklyn, NY, 13-3 12KO’s) from an important  victory.  Pinchuk is coming off a tough fought decision loss in April in a WBC Continental Americas/NABA Gold combined championship battle against world rated cruiserweight and Star Boxing stablemate, Simone “Tyson” Federici. Now, Pinchuk is setting his sights on a bounce back victory on October 1st to refocus climb up the cruiserweight ratings.  Shojgreen is looking to make one last run at a major fight in the cruiserweight division, needing a victory over Pinchuk to get him there.

“There is no looking back I’ve taken the past few months to get stronger & faster,” said Pinchuk. “I’m excited to make my return to the ring this October and start making a move up the cruiserweight rank.”

Making the transition from the octagon to the squared circle, standout MMA fighter, JOHN GOTTI III (Oyster Bay, NY, pro debut) will make his pro debut as a professional boxer at “Rockin’ Fights” 43.  Gotti grew a huge following as he devoured the Northeast MMA circuit with a record of 5-1, four of those wins coming by stoppage.  Gotti will be fighting in a 4-round light heavyweight bout against an opponent to be revealed soon.

John Gotti III, is looking forward to getting back into the ring and fighting in Long Island, had this to say about the fight: “After almost a two-year layoff I look forward to getting back to competing at a high-level and showing up for my fans who always show up for me.”

Danbury’s, OMAR “THE BEAST” BORDOY (Danbury, CT, 11-1 3KO’s) and Ireland’sVICTOR “SLICK VIC” RABEI (Dublin, Ireland, 10-0 3KO’s) will each be lacing up the gloves for the first time in 2022, putting their feet to the fire against one another in an 8-round super lightweight bout. Looking to make a move in the rankings, both fighters throw caution to the wind and put their stellar records on the line in what should be an exciting 8-round contest.

Returning to The Paramount fresh after dominating in his pro debut with victory this past June, the newly dubbed “RUTHLESS” RONNY REYES (New York, NY, 1-0), will face off against TRAVIS “PRETTY BOY” CRAWFORD of Corpus Christi, Texas (0-1) in a 4-round super featherweight bout.

NYC firefighter, LOUIS “IL MARTELLO” MAIETTA (Bronx, NY, 1-2-1) will make his fifth appearance at The Paramount, in a rematch with DEQUINT “BEYOU” HILL (Austin, TX, 1-1) after the two went to battle over four rounds in an exciting bout in June. Maietta-Hill will be a 4-round light heavyweight bout.

Undefeated, Elmont, Long Island middleweight, ZAY “NO CHOICE” FLAHERTY (Elmont, NY, 4-0 2KO’s) wowed fans June at The Paramount with a TKO victory after a left handed head to body combo left his opponent reeling on the canvas. Zay returns looking to remain undefeated and his opponent will be announced soon in a 6 round middleweight contest.

Queens based, undefeated super featherweight, RAY “THE SCIENTIST” CUADRADO (Queens, NY, 4-0 1KO) is scheduled to fight in a 4-round super featherweight bout with an opponent to be announced.

OMAR BORDOY INKS PROMOTIONAL AGREEMENT WITH STAR BOXING

January 6, 2021 (New York, New York)

Star Boxing is pleased to announce the signing of Danbury Connecticut fan-favorite OMAR “THE BEAST” BORDOY (10-1 3KO’s). At 25-years-old, Bordoy stands at 5’5″ and matches his nickname in the ring, unleashing his inner ‘Beast’ fighting much bigger than his frame would suggest.

Bordoy is no stranger to Star Boxing events, having made his pro debut at Star Boxing’s “Slugfest at the Sun” on the undercard of Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame Inductee, Delvin Rodriguez vs Courtney Pennington. Bordoy pitched a shutout, winning by unanimous decision, “Joe DeGuardia gave me my pro debut back in 2017,” said Bordoy, “I never forgot him giving me the chance to begin my career and now giving me the opportunity to further my career.”

Bordoy would later make an appearance at Star Boxing’s acclaimed “Rockin’ Fights” series at The Paramount in Huntington, New York, where he went to war with Terrell Bostic on the undercard of Long Island’s former World Champion, and “Rockin’ Fights” alum, Chris Algieri vs Angel Hernandez. Bordoy would drop Bostic in the third-round of the scheduled six-round fight, which proved to be the difference earning the decision in a thrilling fight.

Bordoy had this to say about signing with NY Hall of Fame promoter, Joe DeGuardia, “I couldn’t be more excited to sign a contract with Star Boxing. I’ve always been an underdog and I come from nothing, so I’m looking forward to showing the world that from nothing you can become something. The confidence Star Boxing is showing me only makes me hungrier and I look forward to having an explosive year in 2021.”

Trainer and Manager, AJ GALANTE echoed Bordoy’s sentiment, “Star Boxing consistently puts their fighters in positions to be successful. I look forward to continuing to help further guide Omar’s career, and with Joe DeGuardia and Star Boxing in our corner, the sky is the limit.”

Star Boxing CEO JOE DEGUARDIA stated, “Omar’s development from his pro debut at Mohegan Sun, to his electric victory at The Paramount has been impressive. I believe together with his team, we can continue to develop Omar, and get him the opportunities he needs to make real noise in the super lightweight division. We are happy to welcome him to Star Boxing.”

“It’s exciting,” Derrick II spoke about fighting at home in Springfield. “I started out in boxing off my father’s name. I have a lot to live up to, but I’m a little different than him. I have my own fanbase, which is pretty cool, and they’re there win or lose. There hasn’t been a lot of boxing here since the Hippodrome closed, but MGM Grand has brought boxing back to Springfield. This will be my third fight here.

“I’m popular in my city because I played football here in high school. It’s been a thrill for me to still have my family and fans watching me. They’ve always supported me. It’s been pretty crazy for this fight.”

Vazquez (0-1), a native of Puerto Rico, faces LEANDRO SILVA (1-3) in a 4-round match.

“I feel great, like Muhammad Ali,” an excited Vazquez said about fighting at home. “This is awesome. Springfield is my town! I’m proud. I grew up in Puerto Rico, but I’ve lived here seven years. I want to put on a great show for my hometown.”

Also fighting on the undercard in a 6-round bout is Hartford welterweight JEFFREY TORRES (5-0, 4 KOs) vs. Brockton, MA veteran ANTONIO FERNANDEZ (3-39-4, 3 KOs).

“New England Explosion” is promoted by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing, and will take place at MassMutual Center, powered by MGM Springfield.

NO REWARD IF NO RISK FOR CONNECTICUT SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT PROSPECT OMAR “THE BEAST” BORDOY

BOSTON (December 9, 2019) — Unlike most boxing prospects, lightweight prospect OMAR “THE BEAST” BORDOY (9-1, 3 KOs) is always willing to take risks, even fighting undefeated opponents, instead of simply padding his record.

Bordoy, fighting out of Danbury, CT, meets undefeated Irish sensation, “SLICK” VICTOR RABEI (8-0, 2 KOs) on December 13 in an 8-round bout on a stacked “New England Explosion” card, at MassMutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts.

“New England Explosion,” presented by JOE DEGUARDIA’S STAR BOXING, and sponsored by MGM Springfield, will air live from Mass MutualCenter in a first for New England Sports Network (NESN), starting at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT. As the home of the Boston Bruins and Boston Red Sox, NESN is available nationally on a sports subscription basis.

“I fought an undefeated fighter before and it was cool to give him (3-0 Terell Bostic) his first loss,” the 24-year-old Bordoy said. “An undefeated record could be padded. Rabei is a good fighter and I expect a very good fight. He’s a good fighter who is good defensively. He’ll want to be fighting on the outside because he’s 5′ 9″ and I’m 5′ 5”. But he’s coming down in weight and we’re fighting at my natural fighting weight. I’ve fought taller opponents before. It looks like he has a little power. We’re both stepping up.

“I’m excited to be fighting on live television for the first time. I’m a kid who came from nothing and now I’m fighting on TV. I’ve fought in pre-recorded fights before, but this will be my first on live television. It makes everything even more exciting. I’m glad to be fighting on this NESN platform.”

Bordoy has won two in a row since losing a disputed 6-round split decision last April to Romain Tomas (7-2).

“I didn’t get into boxing to go undefeated,” remarked Bordoy, who will be fighting in his first scheduled 8-rounder. “Only a few fighters have ever retired undefeated. A loss doesn’t bother most greats. It’s part of my developmental stage. I’d rather suffer a loss early in my career than later. I certainly don’t feel like a defeated fighter going into this fight. I learned a lot about myself and what to do better from that loss.”

Cutting weight for this fight, Bordoy didn’t really enjoy Thanksgiving. In fact, he ate alone because it was too difficult dieting and eating with others. So, he had brown rice and baked chicken.

“Yeah,” he added. “I didn’t get to eat much. I’m going to splurge this fight. And I’ll get an early Christmas present when my hand is raised at the end of the fight.”
BORDOY OPEN WORKOUT DEC. 10 IN DANBURY, CT.
Bordoy will hold an open workout Tuesday, Dec. 10, between 6:30-8:30 p.m. ET at Danbury Champs Gym in Danbury, CT to promote his Dec. 13thfight. Dambury Champs Gym is located at 128 E. Liberty St., Danbury, CT. The public is welcome.

Hartford, CT 12-0 4KO’s), heavy-handed light heavyweight, RICHIE “POPEYE THE SAILOR MAN” RIVERA (Hartford, CT 15-0 12KO’s) and OMAR “BEAST” BORDOY (Danbury, CT 9-1 3KO’s). NESN’s live 2-hour broadcast of the feature bouts will begin at 9 p.m. with Jahmai Webster calling the action and Dana Rosenblatt (37-1-2 in his professional boxing career) as the analyst.

Laureano looks to conclude an extremely busy 2019, with his fourth fight of the year. Kicking off in January, Laureano dropped Ronald Rivas twice, earning a dominant unanimous decision victory. In June, Laureano returned in a barn burner against Dieumerci Nzau a fight that had the crowd on its feet from beginning to end. Laureano earned the 7thround TKO, securing the ABO America’s Title. Finally, in September, Laureano stepped in against Brian Jones, putting his ABO title on the line in his toughest test to date. However, Laureano proved to be up to the task, bringing his quintessential “action” fighting style and dominating the Texan over 8-rounds for the victory.

Laureano is ecstatic to be returning home to the very building where he won the New England Golden Gloves in 2016, to showcase his skill in front of his hometown fans on December 13, stating, “I’m blessed to be back! I won the Golden Gloves here and those memories I really hold dear to me. The Golden Gloves really helped me get to where I am today. I’ve always had huge support from Massachusetts and to me this is a homecoming. I’m honored to be back! Can’t wait!”

Rivera has fought an astonishing six times in 2019 and looks to close out the year with yet another victory. Rivera has racked up the miles this year, having fought in Charlotte, North Carolina, Tijuana, Mexico, Catskills, New York and most recently Daytona Beach, Florida. Most notably, “Popeye” Rivera went to battle with banger Brian Howard in June, over 8-rounds for the ABO America’s Title. After being hurt in the first round, Rivera settled in, out boxing the Georgia product in Howard, earning the unanimous decision victory. In September, Rivera defended his ABO title for the first time against yet another banger, Israel Duffus. Both men came out of the gate with bad intentions, yet Rivera eventually gained and remained in control of the bout over the 8-round contest, winning again.

After traveling for most of 2019, Rivera is ready to show up and show out in front of his hometown fans, “I am super excited to be able to fight in my own backyard! I have been doing a lot of traveling, fighting around the world, trying to put my brand out there. However, it is a special feeling to be able to fight in front of my friends and family. I cannot wait.”

Also being featured on December 13, of Danbury, Connecticut, Bordoy will be in his toughest task to date against the undefeated “SLICK” VICTOR RABEI (Dublin, Ireland 8-0 2KO’s). Bordoy is no stranger to wars, such as when he took on then undefeated, Terrell Bostic at Star Boxing’s “Rockin’ Fights,” where he dropped Bostic, which proved to be the difference in the bout, winning by split decision. Rabei is a Maldivian born, Dublin resident, who fights as his moniker insinuates. “Slick Vic” will cross the Atlantic Ocean for the first time, to battle with Bordoy.

Star Boxing CEO JOE DEGUARDIA had this to say about the New England Explosion, “We look forward to bringing a thrilling night of boxing to the boxing fans in the Springfield, Massachusetts area. New England is in for a treat, so much talent has come out of the area over the years. Willie Pep, Rocky Marciano, Marvin Hagler… the list goes on. We are excited to bring these hungry undefeated and exciting prospects to the MassMutual Center with MGM Springfield. With rising talent like Anthony Laureano, Richie Rivera, and the sensational undercard planned, December 13 will be everything New England boxing fans want and more.”

NOV 30 ROCKIN’ FIGHTS UNDERCARD ANNOUNCED

New York, November 26, 2018

With former World Champion, CHRIS ALGIERI’s (21-3 8KO’S) much anticipated return to the Paramount on November 30th nearing closer, the excitement for STAR BOXING’S “ROCKIN’ FIGHTS” 33 continues to build with the announcement of an electrifying, action-packed undercard. While Algieri will be taking on tough Texan veteran. ANGEL “HITMAN” HERNANDEZ (14-11-2 9KO’S) in his homecoming main-event at The Paramount, a fantastic undercard has turned an already thrilling night of boxing to the next level.

In the co-feature bout, TYRONE “PRETTY BOY” JAMES (8-0 5 KOs) of Elmont, Long Island will be making his seventh appearance at The Paramount as he takes on LEONARDO ESQUIVEL CARRIZALES (5-5 2KOs). This will be an 8-round super welterweight bout.

No stranger to the bright lights and atmosphere of the Paramount, the undefeated Long Island native Tyrone James will be looking to remain so, as he rises through the ranks in the super welterweight division. James’ most recent performance at the Long Island venue was on June 8th of this year, and it ended in superb fashion as he earned a first round TKO victory over Keasen Freeman.

“I love it man. It’s like a home to me now,” said James about fighting at the Paramount. “They brought me in. They love watching me fight. They support me, and I know once that bell rings people will be screaming my name. I love it.”

Undefeated Wyandanch native, TERRELL “THE PROBLEM CHILD” BOSTIC (3-0 1 KO) will be making his return to the ring against up-and-comer OMAR BORDOY (6-0 2KOs). Bostic has fought all of his professional fights at the Paramount and will look to solidify the venue as his home on November 30th. Danbury, Connecticut’s Bordoy will be fighting for the first time in New York as he looks to extend his unblemished record to 7-0. In a battle of the “0’s” only one man will leave The Paramount with an undefeated record intact. This will be a 6-round lightweight tilt

Bellport, Long Island’s ALEX “EL TORRO” VARGAS (1-0) will also be bringing the hometown support with him as he makes his second professional appearance at The Paramount on November 30th. A champion at 165 pounds in the 2013 New York Golden Gloves, Vargas debut fight in September at the Long Island venue was full of excitement. With the energy of the crowd roaring through the place, Vargas marched his way towards a unanimous decision victory. Vargas will be taking on JARILL HAADI (pro-debut) of Rochester, who will be making his pro-debut. This will be a 4-round welterweight bout.

Making their professional boxing debuts will be DASHAUN “TOO SWEET” JOHNS (pro-debut) of the Bronx, NY and Vietnamese martial artist VU VAN HAI (pro-debut). Johns had a successful amateur career with a record of 50-12, winning the 2016 Title National Championship and winning Silver in the 2017 Golden Gloves Championship at 141 pounds. His opponent, Vu Van Hai, is a renowned VoViNam and Muay Thai fighter, boasting a number of achievements such as Imperial Level Three of VoViNam and Taekwondo Bronze Medalist. He will be traveling from Vietnam, his home country, half way around the world, early next week for this fight. This will be a 4-round jr. welterweight bout.

INFO:
Chris Algieri, who was developed at the famed Star Boxing venue, The Paramount, moved to the big stage and had a career defining, real life “Rocky” story unfold on HBO on June 14th, 2014 at the Barclay’s Center, in Brooklyn, against heavily favored and feared Ruslan Provodnikov (then 23-2 16 KO’s) for the WBO World Championship. After peeling himself off the canvas two times in the opening round, Algieri put on the fight of his life. With one eye virtually closed, the gutsy Algieri fought the rest of the fight in brilliant fashion dominating the defending champion Provodnikov to become the new WBO Super Lightweight World Champion*.

The win catapulted the local sensation to international fame. Algieri was awarded a mega-multi-million dollar fight with boxing legend and superstar, Manny Pacquaio. The Pacquiao-Algieri bout took place around the world in Macao, China and was telecast on HBO/Pay Per View. Subsequently, Algieri continued to take the most challenging bouts taking on world class fighters such as Errol Spence Jr and Amir Khan, after the Pacquiao fight.

Algieri decided a couple of months ago that he was ready to make a comeback and re-signed a promotional agreement with his long-time promoter Joe DeGuardia and Star Boxing. The two agreed it was time to return to the roots of Algieri’s career and give back to the loyal Long Island fans. Therefore, on November 30th, after a two-year layoff, Chris Algieri returns home to the place where it all began, The Paramount. Algieri will headline “Rockin’ Fights” 33 as he begins another march towards a World Championship fight.

*Note: Super Lightweight Division is also known as the Junior Welterweight Division and both have a Maximum weight of 140 lbs.
