April 3: Jamel Herring-Carl Frampton ESPN+ Programming Update

(March 24, 2021) — Same date, new time. The desert duel between WBO junior lightweight world champion Jamel “Semper Fi” Herring and former two-weight world ruler Carl “The Jackal” Frampton —Saturday, April 3 from Caesars Bluewaters Dubai — will stream live and exclusively in the United States on ESPN+ at a new start time of 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT.

The main event stream will begin with an intriguing co-feature, as undefeated Kazakh star Zhankosh Turarov (24-0, 17 KOs) will defend his WBO Intercontinental junior welterweight strap against Belfast native Tyrone McKenna (21-2-1, 6 KOs).

The undercard, including the return of former four-weight world champion Donnie Nietes, will now stream live and exclusively on ESPN+ at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT.

Belfast’s Frampton (28-2, 16 KOs), the 2016 Fighter of the Year, hopes to become the island of Ireland’s first three-weight world champion. Herring (22-2, 10 KOs), a U.S. Marine veteran and 2012 Olympian, has made two defenses of the title he won in a shocking upset over Masayuki Ito nearly two years ago.

Turarov stops Godoy in 3

Zhankosh Turarov stopped Mauro Godoy in round three of a scheduled 10-round super lightweight bout at Barys Arena in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Turarov dropped Gody with hard left hook in the 3rd frame. Godoy got to his feet, but was in no-condition to continue at 2:00.

Turarov, 139.7 lbs of Akko, KAZ is 24-0 with 17 knockouts. Godoy, 139.6 lbs of Argentina is 32-5-1.

Nordine Oubaali retained the WBC Bantamweight title with a stoppage in the 7th round over Arthur Villanueva.

In round six, Oubaali dropped Villanueva with a hard right uppercut. Villanueva continued to take a beating in the 6th round, and the bout was halted at the beginning of round seven.

Oubaali, 117.5 lbs of Bagnolet, FRA made the 1st defense of his crown, and is now 16-0 with 12 knockouts. Villanueva, 117.5 lbs of Balcod City, PHL is 32-4-1.

Viktor Kotochigov won a 10-round unanimous decision over Jairo Lopez in a lightweight contest.

Kotochigov, 134.9 lbs of Amaty, KAZ won by scores of 99-91, 98-93 and 99-93 to stay perfect at 10-0. Lopez, 134 lbs of Apdoca, MEX is 24-11.

In round four, Kotochigov was cut over the right eye.

David Oliver Joyce remained undefeated with a 10-round unanimous decision over Breilor Teran in a featherweight bout.

Joyce of Ireland won by scores of 100-89, 100-87 and 100-86, and is now 11-0. Teran of Caracas, Venezuela is 27-18-1.




Harris decisions Moreno

Jay Harris won a 12-round unanimous decision over Angel Moreno in a flyweight bout at The Vale Sports Arena in Cardiff, Wales.

Harris, who was cut over the left eye in round two, won by scores of 120-108, 119-109 and 117-111 ands is now 16-0. Moreno, 113.8 lbs of Madrid, Spain is 19-4.

Craig Evans gained his 2nd win over Stephen Ormand via 10-round unanimous decision in a lightweight bout.

Evans, 134.8 lbs of Wales won by scores of 98-92, 97-92 and 95-94 to raise his mark 20-2-1. Ormand of Ireland is 27-6.

Zhankosh Turarov stopped Richmond Djarbeng after round two of their scheduled eight-round welterweight bout.

Turarov of Kazakhstan is 23-0 with 17 knockouts. Djarbeng of Accra, Ghana is 29-4-1.

Sultan Zaurbek remained undefeated by stopping Sergio Gonzalez in the eighth and final round of their lightweight bout.

In round four, Gonzalez was cut over the left eye.

In the final round, Zaurbek wobbled Gonzalez and the fight was stopped due to the cook.

Zaurbek, 132.6 lbs of Kazakhstan is 7-0 with five knockouts. Gonzalez, 132.6 lbs of Spain is 10-16-4.

Jacob Robinson remained undefeated with a six-round decision over Jose Aguilar in a featherweight bout.

Robinson is 7-0. Aguilar is 16-60-5.
