“Being in the tournament has been a good opportunity to rise as a fighter,” said Moran. “Being able to qualify and win to reach the final has been an awesome experience and it has kept me training practically all year. I have been preparing very well and that has made me ready for any moment. I think that Castaneda is a fighter who comes forward and is aggressive, so you must box him. He’s going to come in with his same fighting style and he’s going to try and pick me up at close range, but I’ll handle it. In the first four rounds I will look for the knockout, but if I don’t get it, I will box him because there is no other way. I’m going to do the fight my way, connecting with quick combinations and moving around the ring.
“I’m always ready to fight, so I actually do not vision this as my last chance,” said Castaneda regarding being in the tournament. “There has been some pressure to win to move on, but it’s been so much fun more than anything. Moran thinks he will knock me out in 5? I think nothing of Moran, esta pendejo, but it will be a Mexican war for as long as it lasts, and I am ready for 32 rounds. Moran will be running into a brick wall and eventually he falls. The referee stops it, or his corner stops it.”
Juan “El Olympico” Huertas (16-3, 12 KOs) from 24 de Diciembre, Panama, won the WBO Latino title on June 17, 2022 via first round TKO. Miguel. “Explosivo” Madueno (27-0, 25 KOs) originally from Guasave, Sinaloa, Mexico, has gone the distance only three times (two decision wins and one decision loss) and has never fought for a title of any kind, until Friday.
